Cons: They were closed when I arrived. I was forced to rent from a competing firm for twice the price after being stranded at the airport in the middle of the night.

Cons: I paid for insurance AND an upgrade through Kayak, but when I got to the counter they told me that the insurance was a third party and didn't matter...then they said the upgrade is manager digression...

Cons: The car was more money than the web site said it would be. Car was not clean and was not full of gas.

Not the price of the reservation!
Pros: Nice clean car.
Cons: Extra insurance, etc. was tacked on to bill and I did not want or need it. Read what you sign, I didn't, and paid the price quite literally!! $228 reservation ended up at $537!

Good deal, associates could use some work
Cons: Car not very clean, had a hard time figuring out where to pick up, not return, the vehicle at CLT airport and attendant quoted me a fee for being underage and I was charged $9 more

Pros: Very easy process and great customers service, and best prices ever!!!!!!
Cons: Honestly to answer this question in would have to lie and I'm not in that business so all I will say is, great work and great job

No cars available.
Cons: I arrived on time for my reservation, but learned that there were no cars available and that they were giving people cars as they were being returned. The estimated wait was 60 minutes, and there were ten people ahead of me in line. It was disappointing.

Cost more than I expected
Pros: The service was great, all the folks I encountered along the way were professional and kind.
Cons: I expected the cost to be what I saw quoted on Kayak. I realize that the difference was the add-on insurance. I was asked "do you want the base, plus, or premium insurance" at the counter. I just "oh, just the base" and didn't know it was going to add almost another $100. The cost wasn't quoted to me, so I didn't know until after I paid. I felt had.

Dollar Car Rental is a Great Value
Pros: Speed at the check-out counter and the fact that I could pick any car in the class that I rented.
Cons: The car had a lot of digs and scratches for the relatively low miles.

Cons: Computer systems went down getting the rental. Had to wait an hour then do manual paperwork No cars available with what we selected Car we did get had a lot of scratches

Chevy Sonic Performed Well in NC and FL 08-03 thru
Pros: Our Chevy Sonic worked great throughout.
Cons: I didn't like paying $800. I wish it cost less.

Cons: When I selected Dollar, I selected "pick up truck or similar", however when I got to the desk, they said I had selected compact car. I argued, and the guy told me I was wrong. I showed him my Kayak email confirming the vehicle type, and I was told it was wrong.

Pick up was long and bad
Cons: We were asked if we wanted GPS. We said no, but were charged anyway. The assistant was very insistent we get insurance, which she quoted over $60 for (it was around $30 at Alamo). Charges piled up and at no time were we shown what we would be charged for or how much.

Pros: car was comfortable
Cons: Check in was ridiculously slow. It took an hour of standing in a line with 4 customers ahead of me and 2 agents. It could have been the customers that were taking so long....don't know. Car seemed clean on inside (outside was covered with bird poop) but when we stopped a used water bottle rolled out from under the seat. Why NO SPARE TIRE??? A person could wait indefinitely along a dark road in the middle of the night waiting for response from road service. Dangerous idea not to have spare tires as an alternative to calling road service.

Pros: Car itself was good. "Bait & switch" was not good. Dollar offered a car that I thought was a Standard, upon arrival told me it was compact and switched to a full size for more money.
Cons: "Bait & switch".

Dollar is Terrible
Cons: - There were no cars available - And finally 2 hrs later they said they have a car processed my reservation and sent me to the lot. There were no cars!!!! - They left me with no choice but take a car that was just returned without cleaning it - TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - NEVER GOING TO RENT WITH DOLLAR

Beware of upsells for Insurance & Roadside assista
Pros: The car itself was fine.
Cons: At pickup, when asked about insurance & roadside assistance I related to the rep that we already had insurance and did not need any additional services. She then said "So you are OK with the minimum then?" I replied yes, thinking that the "minimum" meant nothing. We were in a hurry and I did not look carefully when signing so when we got to the drop off location, I discovered that that we had an additional $45 in charges that i was not expecting because I agreed to their "minimum". Called customer service but they didn't want to hear it. Bottom line is I signed the contract. Buyer beware. Be clear and read the contract & understand all charges before signing.

Pros: The car was good.
Cons: The pick up was terrible. The agent was not nice. She spoke very fast and in distinctly, and was not helpful. Used long, long time on the customer before us. Despite I showed her we had prepaid insurance, she tried to sell me complete insurance. Delivery also negative, as the computer system was down.

Beware of being overcharged.
Pros: Dollar Rentals is just like others but be careful about trying to sell stuff at high price. For example they started a upgrade deal which was 50% more than the basic car rental and insurance starting at $50 a day. After I told them I usually pay 28$ , they said , 'okay' we will charge you the same. car pickup was easy
Cons: Car drop off was unfriendly. I had to insist that I needed a receipt after which the assistant told me that their handheld devices are not working. I told him that I needed a proof that I returned the car and at which time another attendant brought a receipt. I think he was trying to get rid of me since he did not know what he was talking about. When I was in the counter, another gentlemen came back and pointed out an overcharge after which the attendant corrected it So the old 'buyer beware ' principle applies very well

No cars available
Cons: We arrived at Charlotte airport at 10am, they had no cars available and told us it would be 30-45 minutes, there were at least 3 people waiting in front of us. So we went to another car rental place and rented from them - at about double the price. I will not rent from Dollar again

Cons: They didn't have anyone present when I dropped off the vehicle. It was slightly confusing, but it eventually got worked out.

Pros: Ease of pick-up and freedom to select the make and model I wanted within the size category.
Cons: The check-in counter was not well marked; had to backtrack to find it. But this was an airport issue due to construction.

Pros: Pickup was very quick and location clean. I appreciated being able to choose my vehicle from a lineup. Drop off was streamlined and easy.
Cons: During pickup the attendant asked if I wanted to upgrade. I asked the price and he said "normally we charge $47 a day for this one. I'll do it for $25". What he didn't tell me was that it was 25+whatever I was already paying. Then he asked essentially if I wanted option A or B for insurance. He didn't even mention that I had an option of picking neither until I asked him why I need to get insurance if I'm already covered through my personal policy. Most annoying of all was that he asked me to swipe my card but never showed me a receipt or even said the expected total! I thought I was swiping simply for the security deposit or something. Afterwards he handed me the paperwork and I went from expecting to pay $25 to it being an "estimated" $55. I was in a hurry so didn't have the time to go back and just un-do the upgrade. I then went to choose a vehicle from their small SUV lineup. The cars all looked dated... Older model cars that felt very cheap. I didn't really care since it was supposed to be a budget friendly rental but didn't feel it was worth $55 a day. After pulling out of the dim parking deck I realized the vehicle I picked was full of smudges and not particularly clean. It also had an unpleasant smell that bothered me more each time I entered the car. No, this company didn't do anything illegal and Yes I should have been more vigilant. But the agent showed an intentional lack of transparency that was entirely meant to charge me additional fees without making me aware but still allowing him deniability. I feel like I dealt with a shady used car dealership instead of a national rental car brand. The worst part is that (due to complications I won't take the time to explain) I had another reservation at the same place for a different car for an additional 4 days starting the next morning. The agent during this transaction was more transparent but somehow the price is still estimated at DOUBLE what was disclosed initially in my booking confirmation. Whenever I return this second vehicle I will be asking for a detailed explanation and invoice.

Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful, but frequently spoke too quickly on the phone when I called the front desk. Though we had the leave prior to the breakfast serving hours, the variety and quality of the food they were setting out looked adequate.
Cons: Cheap, rough, thin sheets; bathroom door was misaligned and wouldn't stay shut; motor in heating and cooling unit was off balance and made quite a racket each time it kicked on; the buttons on the alarm clock in our room functioned poorly, making it impractical and frustrating to try to set; I think their pillows were stuffed with some mystery shredded material (perhaps all those missing socks from the laundry?); the shampoo provided in the bathroom made my husband's scalp itch and burn; road noise; no roll away beds offered, making sleeping arrangements with 2 teens awkward; teamperature regulation on shower faucet was not functional, so the water was too hot (I ended up washing my hair in the sink); bathroom floor was filthy.

Pros: The reps at the counter in Charlotte, John as I recall, and ...in Greensboro were courteous and friendly . Excellent customer service after a rough travel day with American Airlines personnel not well versed in the art.

Pros: Took us over 1.15 min to fly from NJ to Charlotte and it took us 1.5 hours to get a car

Not as advertised, no focus on customer service
Cons: Bait and switch. I made a reservation for a mid sized car, using their "special" offer which advertised itself a a car rental for a mid-sized equivalent. Web page confirmed that it would be for mid-sized car and showed mid-sized car photo. When we arrived to pick up car, agent told us we had a reservation for a compact and told us of their "special" deal to upgrade to an economy. I had a printout of reservation, but printout did not list midsized car, only "special" rate. new rate for car was double initial reservation. They made no effort to work with us. Walked to enterprise desk, which matched initial reservation dollar offered

Car failed to start
Cons: The car failed to start after sitting overnight. Called their roadside assistance number and found out that Dollar charges you extra if their car needs roadside assistance. That's great, isn't it? If the car doesn't work, there's no apology just an extra charge!!!

The price is misleading and service not good
Pros: Car was new and clean.
Cons: Looks like you will save money, you won't. Wait until they hit you with fees. This along with the terribly slow service received and excessive scare tactics over coverage will now spend more and go with more professional company

Pros: We booked an economy because they had advertised Ford Focus or similar but in reality they only had hatch back cars in economy. But they did find something in the parking lot that looked similar to Ford Focus and we were on our way.

Charlotte airport ranks in top three for easy rent
Pros: 1. Charlotte airport new rental car dropoff is well marked by signs as we entered the airport grounds. 2. Dropoff garage is covered, out of rain and sun's heat 3. Dollar personnel responded immediately when we pulled up 4. Electronic check in is efficient and fast

Problem with the Kayak/Dollar interface
Pros: Once we survived the reservation problems at the Dollar counter, the rest of the relationship was fine.
Cons: The clerk at the Dollar counter didn't recognize the Kayak reservation, and cautioned us to check with the car company to confirm any reservation. She finally relented, however, and gave us the car at the price quoted on our reservation, which we made with Dollar, through Kayak.

My plane was a little late, and they closed up sho
Cons: The title says it all. I had a reservation, but they weren't there to fill it. It was a busy night, so nobody else had cars except for enterprise, wo charged me $260 a day. Not impressed AT ALL.
