Cons: I did not pick the car cause company AVIS as the only one on airport ask me to pay with credit card, but I had only debit card with me. So I canceled this reservation and chose other car rental company.

Cons: for a new car it didn't have many "extra" options...such as lights...I thought all cars auto turned lights on...guess not! Many times I was driving without any lights!

Will never use Kayak for car rental again
Cons: The $9 a day 'insurance' was for nothing, the staff member told us it was for nothing and would still need to purchase coverage. Avis only take credit cards, which is great if you have one. They don't accept debit cards.
We ended up walking up to the Hertz counter who accept debit cards and we actually $50 cheaper over all.

Great Car for Anchorage
Pros: Upgraded for a reasonable price.
Cons: I had an audi car and added a GPS as an extra charge not knowing that it already has an external one. I called about it if they can take the charge off my contract but I couldn't return the device because I was out of the area after realizing it. When I returned the car, I wanted to speak to a manager but there wasn't anyone available so I left the exact message and telephone number but never got a call back :(
Pros: Really fast and no pressure with the upsales

Pros: they upgraded the car, which was good because it was very expensive compared to other sites
Cons: the car was filthy, not sure when it was cleaned last and there were multiple dents and scratches on the vehicle and it took forever to get someone to go over the car with me so I could leave and not worry about being charged for damage someone else did

Bait and switch
Cons: We ordered and paid for a mid-size car, told we would get a either a Chrysler 200 or a Ford Fusion. Instead, we were given a Nissan Sentra. When we questioned it, we were told this was a mid-size car. The car did not even have a USB port - was very basic and not worth the higher price we paid to get a larger and more comfortable car. It definitely smelled of cigarette smoke when we first picked it up. By the end of our trip we had either aired it out sufficiently or we just didn't notice the odor anymore.

Budget was closed and didn't honor the reservation
Cons: My reservation was to pick up the car at 2:00 a.m. No one mentioned that the rental counter closes at 2:00 a.m.! Additionally, no one mentioned that they have a "one hour rule" that means that they will not honor the reservation if you show up over an hour after the identified reservation hour. What a catch 22! They close their counter and then hold you responsible for being late!
In my case, I had a delayed flight and arrived to a closed counter. I had to come back later in the morning when they opened and they had no car for me due to the "one hour rule" (which was also described in other literature as the "two hour rule"). By then, most of the other companies had rented their cars. The only way to rent a car under those conditions was to pay an exorbitant rate to another company.
This was truly terrible service.
Cons: I drove to Denali Park. It rained part of the way and the tires slipped a bit. I checked the tires later and found the front tires were close to bald.
They said I could bring the car back "empty" and they would charge me for gas at a low price. Okay, sounds good. But I found out later they charge you for a full tank regardless of how much gas is left. Good thing I only had a quarter tank left.
