Do NOT rent from Dollar or Thrifty - Bad customer
Cons: The rental was done by Thrifty. They did not have the car that we reserved at the time we arrived. They gave us an upgrade, but wanted it back the next day. We were driving four hours East and the car could not be picked up. So we arranged to have it picked up at our next stop 2.5 hour away at the air port. That morning I received a call and arranged that we could exchange the car between 5-6 pm at the house. We had to go out of our way to be back at the hotel at 5 we waited until 5:45 gave them a call and they said that they would send someone out, it would take 2.5 hours. We had dinner reservation at 6:30 so that didn't work They finally answer the phone, and said they were too busy to answer the phone. The next day we gave up and drove the car back to the airport to return the car. Phone Call = $50 Time lost from our vacation = 5 hours Last time renting from Thrifty or Dollar

Cons: Kayak allowed me to reserve a car at 7am. However, when I arrived at the pick-up location, they said the car wouldn't be ready until 9 or 9:30. The agent was pretty rude and said my only options were to wait or take a cab to the airport and pick it up there.

Good car, good price but terrible service
Pros: The car was new and worked well. And the price was very fair.
Cons: The service was terrible at the Cape Town office. When I arrived to pick up the car, there was a line going out the door from the rental office because they did not have any cars at that location. They told me to pay and wait, which I did. After 5 hours of waiting, they tried to give me a worse car than I had paid for. The only way to get the actual car for which I had paid was to come back the next morning, which I unhappily did.
