Cons:

Car was not ready. They tried to charge for things in a very shifty way. They did not disclose information that was important to the rental. They were emphatic that there was to be no smoking of any kind in the car and gave us a car that reeked of smoke - and then said that it was the cleaner they used to sanitize due to COVID. RIGHT!!! They charged us (prepaid) for a full tank of gas upon return, said we had a full tank of gas when they gave us the keys, but the car was only half full. When we pointed all these things out, they became defensive, dismissive and resorted to lies.

No vehicle like the one I reserved. Called the next day - day of pick up to tell me. The person who called to tell me was very rude.

Cons:

My reservation was cancelled by enterprise and I was not notified. Very frustrating and ended up having to Uber 85 miles to my destination. There were no other rental options in the entire city

Supplier choice

The location inside the airport was closed, so we had to walk far to the parking garage and then to Hertz. It had been a rough day with flying and Danny wasn’t helpful. He was slow at everything, a line was building up and the other employees weren’t jumping on a computer to help. Danny asked if I wanted the toll option and I said no, he didn’t like my answer and wanted to confirm, and I kind of snapped. He needed to turn on his hearing aid and listen and read the room. Just the way he handled situations wasn’t the best. I had used a debit card to pay online but then when we were at the little kiosk, he was a little snarky about debit cards and so I was like would you prefer a credit card and he was all giddy and said yes, so I used my debit card. Everyone had been trying to get home and our flight was diverted and a lot of flights were cancelled. Danny should’ve read the room and not acted the way he did. He shouldn’t have kept asking after I said no. Someone else should’ve been on a computer to get things going faster. The car was ok, good price, but not as comfortable as I expected.

We reserved and paid for our car months in advance. But when we landed and after waiting in a long line, we were told they had no cars and they couldn't even give us an estimate as to when they would get cars. We called customer service and they found a car available in a nearby location but wanted to charge us 3 times the amount we already paid. I can understand if it's a bit busy sometimes, but it would be nice if Hertz could at least make an effort to make things right. They didn't seem to think they had an obligation to honor their contract. A few hours later, we did eventually get a car, but this was very stressful as we didn't know if we would get one at all and our destination was far from the airport. Another thing I didn't like is that it looks like Hertz gouges its customers on toll "convenience" fees.

Pros:

Staff was helpful and nice. Let me pick up the car an hour early so I could get a head start on my day! Thanks guys!

Cons:

Verification of drop off. The key had to be left in a drop box, which is handy. But there’s no way to verify what time or by whom the keys were dropped off. To clear me of any liability of the car sitting in the lot while the store is unattended, it would be helpful to have some sort of verification process, an attendant would be nice but not necessary. Maybe a phone call or video conference might work.

Cons:

When we picked up the car we did a walk around but missed the broken taillight. We asked if someone needed to check off we did that and they said no. When we got in the car and was several several miles down the road we turned on the air conditioner and it smelled so bad of cigarette smoke. The day before we turned in the car my husband was filling up the car and noticed that one of the tires had cord showing. We returned the car and they took a little bit off the balance but they never said sorry or even addressed the fact what happened.
