Contemporary and well decorated. Manicured grounds. Rooms very comfortable with modern conveniences. Bistro in the lobby had skeleton staff on a Saturday night. Must order food at the bar. Food is essentially snacks or heated sandwiches. The breakfast hours ended at 10 a.m. Sunday which was not made clear to me when checking in.
Wonderful; staff, clean room
we stayed at the best western for vassar college parent's weekend. it was the perfect location to go back and forth to campus. the room was big and comfortable and staff incredibly friendly and helpful. i would stay there again!
Reception was very friendly, gave us a credit, and did pretend to try to move us. Didn't hold reservation and gave us downgraded room. TV reception terrible "because of the rain". TV remote did not work. AC barely worked. Tub drain broken. Breakfast was minimal and low quality. Shabby, old interiors.
The staff member working in the morning was great. She was personable, helpful, checked on specifics of our stay, and apologized for the mistakes that were made. Also, the breakfast was great-lots of choices. The person on staff when we checked in was NOT very friendly, and did not offer information. I had to ask about the evening reception, which I found out about when my confirmation email was sent to me. I had requested extra towels, which we did not receive. Also, my bill did not reflect my kayak rate. I was charged the regular Best Western rate. When I pointed it out, the morning staff person did get it corrected.
We stayed here a few years ago, and they've definitely been upgrading. The rooms and the hotel are much nicer than I remember. The front desk staff was really welcoming and helpful. The rooms themselves were clean and comfortable. The location is really convenient. The complimentary breakfast is really bad. Wedged in a back ballroom, everything was cold and half-hearted. It took forever to have basics like cream and water pitchers refilled. There are tons of great diners in the area. It's definitely worth venturing out and paying elsewhere.
The bar was great... Front desk, great...rooms, nice...overall, nice... Could be better The attention to detail seemed lost... Dings, dents, bad painting..... Basic hotel upkeep seemed lacking...
Heating system out dated I couldn't. Get a double bed room
I enjoy my stay but it was only one little thing The only thing I did not like of my staying in the hotel was that I needed to change my room because showerhead was broke and the maintenance was not there to fix it.. they only come once at day in the morining.. ..
The room was neat and clean Even my husband commented on the cleanliness of the bathroom!
Very family friendly. Great location for the graduation of our CIA student. Beds very comfortable, room more than adequate for a group of 5 people. Very clean, friendly service, especially from the night staff lady, Melvena, she is an absolute professional, and very welcoming to strangers from the midwest. She made us feel right at home. She took pride in her job, and we thanked her for it by informing her boss of the excellent care we received from her.
Absolutely nothing. It smelled bad, our room wasn't clean, the wall paper was peeling, the bathroom wasn't cleaned, there were holes in the carpet. It was disgusting. We found another hotel and walked out of this one. It was so gross we didn't want to put our stuff down anywhere.
The hotel did the trick for what we were looking for in a last minute booking on a holiday weekend. The bed was large and fairly comfortable. The hotel is very old and could use an update. Our first room the toilet didnt flush and 2 of the lights didn't work, and the hairdryer cord was so incredibly old it was literally black....and supposed to be beige. Grimy. The next room was okay. Toilet was slow, but eventually flushed, lights worked mostly. By the second day the bathroom florescent burnt out.
Nothing Signs of water leakage on the ceiling in the bedroom and the bathroom. Rust stains in the tub. Poor attitude from staff.
The reservation process. The lobby looks nice at first. The front desk attendant was missing for fifteen minutes when I wanted to check in at 8pm. When we entered our room it smelled musty. Further, the room was very outdated and unclean. There were stains everywhere and something growing/leaking? from the ceiling tile. The bathroom did not look sanitary. It was a very uncomfortable stay--- aware that they are renovating, there is no excuse to the disgusting conditions we paid to stay in.
We didn't stay at the hotel, we drove in, and it was like an hotel from HELL. It was very scary, sketchy, and disgusting. It has "construction permit in the windows, the pool was closed, and it looked like a hooker spot. We turned around and left. I lost my money!
Price for the area, proximity to where I needed to be, free breakfast, free wifi. Breakfast wasn't very good, thin walls, poor light quality, poor shower quality, no conditioner, no material about the hotel or the surrounding area, toilet didn't flush well.
Only bad things were we didn't get the room we booked online at first but after saying something they changed our no problem and their restaurant/bar wasn't open even though they had a sign out front but there is a place right across the street
Young lady at the desk was pleasant and did what she could to help. Pulled up to the hotel, saw windows open with fans in them. First room we got, A/C didn't work, lights burned out, trash in the bathroom. Moved us to another room. Trash on the floor. Breakfast was bagels and cereal.
The hotel is old, smells bad and the bed was terribly uncomfortable. The manager called me at 5am to tell me I left my license at the desk. Then instead of just sliding it under the door he knocked a few minutes later and woke me up again.
the cost was $83 and it was close. Unfortunately I booked through Kayak so I had to pay $110. I will use Hotel Mercury again but I will book through them and save the $27 extra that Kayak charged as their fee.
I had a very bad stay at the hotel, this hotel with bad hygienic conditions because it has bad bugs. I'm with scars on my body, I complained to the hotel but they do not care. I would not recommend the Days Inn poughkeepisie the nobody.
Very clean for being such an old hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The beds are very small and not very comfortable. No breakfast choices for gluten free diet.
The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The counter tops in the bathroom had been improved The first night a band was next door so we didn't get a lot of sleep. The helpful guy at the counter said our room number out loud and seemed surprised when I suggested that that isn't safe.
I found that hotel to be clean with a friendly staff. There are so many things to do and see in the area that we did not have time for the pool and exercise room. I would recommend this hotel to others and use it again if I return for a second visit.
Poughkeepsie isn't to blame for this ramshackle of a hotel. The en masse loiterers, smoking rooms, damaged furniture and flailing plumbing. People don't take pride in their property. Horrible.
Not much it was not what I expected.
No one bothered us Cigarette burn on the blankets. Cost more than what kayak.com told me. Even though I ordered one king bed they told me that's what happens when you order online and stuck me with 2 queen beds. Basically it cost more than what it was supposed to and I didn't even get what I ordered.
Visited nearby historic sites (FDR home and library/museum; Vanderbilt mansion), tried different restaurants and generally relaxed
good location for Vassar College, free breakfast, attentive staff tired old property
Quick check in and responsive staff. The bathtub closure did not work - we called the desk, who tried to find another but could not. When we checked out, told the girl at the desk again - she did not appear to be aware of the problem.
Love the rooms very nice and. Comfortable Wish the breakfast was until 11 instead of 10.
The size of our room was comfortable You could hear people above you and next to you, which made it uncomfortable to enjoy our stay. Seemed outdated and staff was so so. When needing a cab, they gave me the number instead of calling one for me as their guest. Shuttle service was misleading on website. Not available for needed hours. One of the reasons I went for this hotel was because of the shuttle. It was a waste. Will look elsewhere next time heading up to the Culinary Institute of America.
We loved the quaintness and the variety of things to do on the property.
Property is beautiful on Hudson River. Trails to walk. Buttermilk Falls, orchards, farming and animals yet a modern, relaxing spa with indoor pool against entire wall of windows and beautiful views. Our room exceeded expectation as did the breakfast. A few areas have been neglected--our balcony lots of chipping paint, bench by the Falls was unusable and would be nice to sit by Falls if it was repaired.
Location, Staff The room had a slight musty smell from old area rugs.
Nothing really The room is the size of a shoebox. This isn't a hotel its glorified bed and breakfast
It was a good value for the money, conveniently located and had a surprisingly good little breakfast for such a small hotel. Suggest that you advertise Free Wi-Fi because we almost cancelled our reservation because nowhere was that listed! The fact that the hotel was under renovation and had no hot water-rather inconvenient!
The room was simple and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful and the price was right. Lots of cigarette butts outside despite the receptacle provided. That's on some rude guests but a sign or two might help.
Everything was great! Great value and perfect location to visit the SUNY New Paltz University!
clean breakfast included close to New Paltz Village without being too close easy access to main highways Entrance is easy to miss on Terwillinger Street
The staff was very friendly The biggest problem was the HVAC unit in the room. The mechanicals were so noisy that I was awakened every time the unit went on. It sounded very very dated. Another issue were the dust mites that got my allergies going. This was not unexpected. Overall, the hotel was an inexpensive place to rest my head that is need of an update. In a pinch it would do.
hot breakfast with protein (eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurt), which is sorely missing at most motels. Original room did not have microwave and fridge, which we signed up for. Replacement room had fridge, which we needed very much. Microwave in common area worked fine.
Outdated! Furniture falling apart and carpets were dirty. Only available hotel with room in the area or we wouldn't have stayed there. We checked after seeing the room. Needs a complete facelift.
One Of The Best In The Poughkeepsie Area, Centrally Located And Mins From Everything You May Want Or Need. The Separate Living Room/Kitchen/Dining/Office Was A Great Space. Plus The Couch Pulls Into A Bed Which Is Great! Liked Almost Everything. Only Thing I Could Even Say I Didn't Like Was Parking BUT It Was Sold Out So Can't Complain Much.
It was a nice resort with everything! The courtyard was picturesque. I definitely enjoyed staying in a suite, rather than a room. Everything was clean. I liked the pool and hot tub. The free breakfast was definitely to die for. Lewis Chiu Lewis Chiu
Exterior and facilities were clean and well kept. The bedroom was adequate with sink, microwave and fridge. Bed was not a King however and seemed smaller than a Queen. The mattress was very uncomfortable, the worst I've slept on in what I can remember and I've stayed in about 50 different Hotels in my life.
Mostly everything except the mattress on the bed. To soft. Not firm enough. Other than that very clean hotel, excellent accommodations, etc. Overall we (my husband and I ) had a very pleasant stay at the Residence Inn. Surely, we would stay at this hotel While the room was very nice, clean, with modern furniture, granite countertops, etc. the mattress on the bed was not as firm as I would have liked it to be.
The location was absolutely brilliant for me, and it does give a homely vibe while you are in the room. I just stayed here for one night, but will defiantly come back I can hear the snoring from the next room, which was kinda funny in a way
Staff were very pleasant bed and pillows were fairly soft.

Staff was friendly and the accommodations were great There was nothing I did not like about the hotel
Staff Noise from other rooms
The pool lol No everything was perfect staff Were great and Hotel employee is excellent.
Not much. Dirty sheets, odd smell, hovering staff over the poor continental breakfast...
Checked in after the 2 PM check-in time and was told they were just readying the rooms then. Door was difficult to open since clearance was too low. Deadbolt on door non-operational. Worse issue was the mold in the bathroom. Toilet did not flush enough to empty. Tried to check out the following morning but lobby was locked. Went outdoors and tried ringing bell several times at lobby door. After 20 minutes, clerk came to door in his bare feet (walking through breakfast area), seemed annoyed that I had awakened him (even though by that time it was about 10 minutes prior to when they said breakfast would be out). Did not stay for the breakfast. Saw that the cereals were kept out in dispensers when I checked in the earlier day so I had doubts about their freshness/closure from insects.
It was a basic room. I would would only stay for one night tops. There was hairs in the bed and on the bathroom counter. The sink wasnt draining from the very beginning and once it filled with water it started leaking from underneath and counter. We used the garbage can to put underneath to stop it from flooding all over the floor.
Out of all the hotels in new paltz, it's the least of the rundown hotels. Linens are disgusting--bring your own. Large dark red stain on the teal fleece blanket. Disgusting.
The New Paltz Rodeway Inn & Suites was conveniently located, with easy accessibility to the highway and a short drive to the college, yet it was quiet at night with no road noise. The rooms and public areas were very clean, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The hotel offered a standard continental breakfast in the morning. I understand that this property has recently come under new management and the new proprietor is eager to continue to make improvements.
Outside is nice and renovated. Front desk curteous. By far the dirtiest room I've ever stayed at and I've stayed at a lot of cheap motels. Table was sticky and had crumbs on it. Dirty dirty floor seemed it had not been cleaned in years.
Outside of the property is beautiful must've been the resort at some point in time. To get to the place you have to drive through a rather sketchy area of old boarded up houses. The interior of the hotel is very old and run down. Holds on the shower scratched up furniture. A tired old place not taking well care of. Next morning us locals about the place and all we also recommended not to stay there.
The front desk guy was friendly The place was filthy. I refused to stay. It was so bad I didn't care about my loss of money. I couldn't get out there quick enough.
Very convenient location to Poughkeepsie and the Walkway over the Hudson bridge. Despite being on Rt 9 the rooms were quiet. Continental breakfast was bagels/cream cheese, donuts, coffee. Only one window in rooms, got a bit stuffy overnight. Across the street and in the mall next door are reasonably priced eateries. And the CIA restaurants are less that 1/2 hour up Rt 9.
I liked how close it was to a gas station, since I had to buy beer a few times in the middle of the night. The breakfast was minimal but suitable. The mattresses were stained but the sheets were clean! Plenty of parking, lots of rooms available. Everything in the rooms was long overdue for an upgrade and our room didn't have an iron. It was clean but smelled dusty.
The place seem old. Stayed with my 11year old son and he was not happy with room. I guess tou get what you paid for.
I liked that the roof didn't leak and the toilet worked I'm not a complainer. Do no stay at this motel Scary place, run down and they got me for $130
run down waiting for a teardown
At first we were mortified, it seemed abandoned. Our room was was dated. It was fine for one night for the price. Location was good. Wi-Fi didnt work, place felt abandoned. Heat wasn't very hot. The place is old and hasn't been updated in a long time.
Location. Water for shower hot. Very old and worn - needs improvement. Noisy neighbors. Breakfast is coffee, tea, bagels or white powdered donuts.
The nature walks were nice. It was quiet and peaceful. Some staff was often unprofessional, at times, crossed the line of rude. Confusion regarding wristbands and packages. There were inconsistencies with rules and regulations and lots of confusing explanations regarding them. The food was not appetizing.
Location (great view) and staff. Also indoor pool area was nice. Overall the hotel decor was stuck in the 80's. Very dated public spaces. Dinner buffet was really overpriced for what it was.
A lot of space. It was CLEAN. It did not have the warm welcoming feeling. The stairwell halls were creepy, moldy, dimly lit and walls were filthy. Our room had limited furniture or any real ambiance- so BASIC - just large space with basics. It felt like a large, clean motel.
The location was what brought us here. Stayed after a Bethel Woods concert and before we needed to be to Troy, NY. Entry way was dark and unmarked. We arrived at night. The parking lot is not lit. We went to what we thought was registration because the door was wide open and that turned out to be a hallway with rooms. The next door was a hallway. It was the third.
the massage was amazing from 'BO'..double room was spacious, quiet along within a comfortable bed.. the furniture was shabby, chipped and dated.
The hiking trails was beautiful and outside of the hotel is well taken care off. The hotel room was old style, everything from the 80's. The 'restaurant' only open for 3 times 1,5hr each meal. You only can have a buffet style, the food not good, but eatable, nothing else is around. So we didn't have to much choice.Staff not nice either
movieviewing room, park for children, pool quiet and clean many of the staff didn't know anything-quitte disorganized
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room has been recently renovated and everything was very clean. Having a refrigerator in the room is very appreciated. The size of the room is very generous, giving us plenty of room to spread out during a five day stay. We had a room on the first floor. During one night of our stay, there was another guest in the room above us. The sound proofing between floors is non-existent and you could hear every single footstep of our upstairs neighbor, loudly. Also, we were happy to see that the windows could be opened for some fresh air but, any time we tried to open them, someone would start smoking outside the front entrance and the smoke smell would waft into our room. Disgusting.
