Service means nothing anymore.
Pros: The car was mostly clean. The price was decent.
Cons: The two attendants were extremely rude. The car was not ready until 30 min after we arrived for pick up. We stood and waited while they prepped the car. They told us pets were not allowed in the car yet we found pet hair in the car when we picked it up. The tank was not full when we picked it up yet they documented it as being full and said it must be returned at full ir they will fine us. They told us not to document any of the damage the car had sustained from previous trips. The plates on the vehicle were expired which made our cross country road trip difficult as we got pulled over and had to explain it to each officer that stopped us for an expired plate. Mostly the rude attitude of the two attendants working is what will cause hertz to lose my business for any future rentals.

Very poor customer service
Pros: The convenience of the pick up & drop off. Because of the problem they did upgrade our rental.
Cons: We had a problem at pick up. Somehow someone else's reservation came up and had been started before I noticed the different name. Unfortunately our credit card was charged 2 times for over $300. We were assured that since it was a "pending" charge it would be taken off immediately or in short order. We left on our vacation and the charge went through. I called at least 3 times and asked for the manager to call me back. He was evidently on vacation for 2 weeks and I asked for the area manager to call. I never received a phone call. But I did notice the charge was finally taken off by the end of the week and might have been reduced a bit. But I never received a call back. And if someone had a very strict budget and was counting on using that money on their vacation it could have been ruined. Thankfully it did not affect our vacation other than the annoyance and non-responsive management. The drop-off was convenient but since no one is there on Sundays if we had not purchased the insurance from Hertz we would have been liable for any damage to the car until they open on Monday.

Cons: No one at Hertz when we arrived,had to wait 30 minutes for his return . Car had no tread on front tires which we noticed after rental so had to return for a different car

Pros: The manger Afshin was a rockstar. Totally took care of me.
