Pros: Car was inexpensive and it was fast and easy to check out.
Cons: Needed to have $250 worth of space on my credit card that wasn't mentioned during payment on Kayak, but was mentioned while I was at the checkout counter so I had to choose a separate credit card to put the remainder on when I was there. The car was super dirty and had a huge yogurt (I think?) stain across one seat and the middle console. The windows weren't wiped down super well and it was hazy and foggy so I had to stop at the gas station and clean it up a bit. The car worked fine though.

Pros: Check in was fast and easy. The car was clean and comfortable. They didn't have the car we originally requested so they upgraded us to something better at no extra charge.
Cons: Nothing to complain about.

Too many extra costs
Cons: Our agreement ened d up being much more. I agreed with taxes etc to an amount and I was twice as much. Do. Or care to use kya k if their quite is. It accurately stated and customer is charged so Much more

Great car for travel
Pros: We loved the roominess of the seats and lots of leg room in the back. We also like the size of the trunk area. I would consider owning one of these models.
Cons: The sales pitch to buy their insurance.

Cons: It was not clear that the car rental was WAY offsite; 15-20 miles. If it weren't for the kindness of the Hertz staff, I would have had to take a taxi to the rental car location. Hertz provides a ride to their other location.

Cons: The booking was made for the wrong dates, i called and was unable to reschedule or cancel. The day I was supposed to retrieve the vehical the location closed at the exact time of my rental. I wasn't able to speak to anyone at the herts location till the following Monday at which time I was informed that there was no longer a vehical available to me. NO refund or car !

Horrible Customer Service
Cons: Upon picking up the intermediate car I reserved, my husband was told by a caucasian male that the airport that the ford mini care was the one we reserved.... I think it was a ford fiesta or something. I have my rental receipt with exact name. When I called to speak to an agent at ROC airport, Carlos told me that I got the car I paid for, the airport does not rent intermediate cars, and he would in no way help me with getting another car. At that time I called the Hertz company. I was informed I would have to put off my travels, and change to the intermediate car the next day. After picking up the correct vehicle, I proceeded to calling Hertz to put a complaint against the ROC airport,, and ask for credit for the day of travel I missed. I was passed around to about 15 to 20 people (I have all of their names and dates and times called). One was more rude than the other. I was told Hertz does not have a complaints department. I asked them to please credit me for the day of travel I missed, or to add a day on to my rental at no cost due to the horrible experience at ROC airport causing me to leave a day late. At that time, the agent agreed to extend my rental one more day, and immediately charged my card. I was totally disgusted at this point. I spent hours on the phone, No at Hertz has any respect for their customers. When I returned my car, I saw 2 people at the counter. I waited almost an our with 5 people ahead of me. One gentleman was rented a car, he was sent to go get his car by himself, and couldn't find it. When he returned, the woman at the counter couldn't be bothered. He told her there was no one outside to help him, and the lady couldn't be bothered. She told him to just go look for the car on his agreement. The man walked away in disbelief. I ended up speaking to an african american gentleman that was very helpful. He called his manager after he apologized for his colleagues behavior, and had his manager (I think her name is Sam) give me a free day of rental for my inconvenience. It was very nice of her, but I am still very disgusted and bothered by this lack of respect for Hertz customers. This location is understaffed,and has very bad customer service. I deserve more than just the day of travel I missed for the horrible treatment I received. I'm sure this will go and be swept under the rug as Hertz does not have a complaints or quality assurance department. Thank you, Edna Teresi and John Farrar 201-320-4821

Pros: Drive-ability and comfort of the car was good
Cons: The cleanliness was very poor in and out. No pride in how the car was cleaned. The tires looked like they had gone through a mud pit. No floor mats and the floor and seats had not been vacuumed I feel your car and home is a reflection of the owner. Not likely to use Hertz in the future.

Pros: Car worked well, was clean and drop off was quick.
Cons: Waiting in long line to get car. Being asked to make upgrades with confusing pricing (agent said it would be $10 to upgrade, but turns out it was $10/day and that wasn't made clear)

Very smooth pickup and drop off and
Pros: Friendly staff at both pickup and drop off location, best price available compared to several other companies, very file efficient versa
Cons: I couldn't find proof that I had included a return at alternate airport in my confirmation, which led me to think I'd made a mistake in booking and would receive a bill with a balance after returning. Maybe they could make that more clear in the docs.

Pros: Nothing, customer service was even the worst I ever dealt with!!
Cons: I called 3 days before my pick up date because I rented the car till Sunday at they were closed so I needed to find out where to take car. The girl on phone said it don't matter because we don't take debit cards and that's what you gave us. I said you took my money within 20 minutes over a month ago. She said read the fine print we would have told you when you got here. I said so what now. She said pay cash or credit card and we run credit check and a $200 deposit. Which at the time I did not know but they did same to my son and never returned his deposit. (Nothing wrong with car they said fees from cost because he was quailed wrong price). So I never got a car ended up driving my own which I did not want to the miles on. They told me 14 days for refund. I will NEVER rent through hertz, I will pay more first.

Pros: The car was fine, the service was very good once I did see a representative on-site.
Cons: 1) I had to wait as there were no representatives in the office at my pick-up time. 2) I topped off the gas, but it still did not read as full. There was NO WAY to put more gas, it was completely full. I will be watching to see if I am charged, and if so, I will contest it. 3) The drop off was not clearly marked for Hertz. The envelope for the keys was not for Hertz and had instructions about drop off which I followed. AFTER dropping off the keys in the door, I saw that there was another sign that had been obscured by a parked car that said there was another area to park the car. At this point, my keys were already dropped off so I could not move the car to that location. I feel that the Hertz rep should have mentioned the drop-off and warned me about the fact that it was a bit more complicated.

Pros: Price was about half what the airport wanted. We picked up off-site.
Cons: Agent told us we were being upgraded from compact. The Yaris seemed like a downgrade.

Pros: Easy to rent Easy to Return - no hidden surprises... Just filled it up prior to return and dropped off keys at the desk. Will get Navigation?GPS included next time - will be simpler in future. only gave it a "Good" rating for value cause I hate taxes...but that's not their fault.

Great cars, but scrutinise your bill!
Pros: Great fleet, easy check-in/check-out.
Cons: Hertz overcharged me, requiring a lengthy phone call to Hertz to sort out. Always check your bill closely!

Pros: The people at the rental place were really nice, even offered to upgrade the car, and got us a corolla instead of a subcompact for free
Cons: The corolla has a cvt transmission. I'm a gear head so I didn't like that though I was pleasantly surprised how easily the little corolla could accelerate onto the freeeway compared to an automatic. It was like flying a spaceship! The car was quiet spacious comfortable clean and brand new. It still smelled like a brand new car!!!!

Cons: extra charges that i wasnt aware of. I have never spent 420$ to rent a car for 4 days!!! Not happy and i will never rent from hertz again!

Both cars that were received were dirty and old
Pros: Front desk person was very accommodating
Cons: The first car rented was dirty and smelled, took back and got another car which was damaged and smokey in the interior. I have rented other company's but looks like hertz is not reinvesting back into there cars. Would not rent again.

Chrysler Town and County rental
Pros: Great gas mileage. The seats were very comfortable. Plenty of room. Nice vehicle if it were New!!
Cons: The windows were really dirty inside, the left rear sliding door had been damaged before we had the vehicle and there was no lock on it. There was even old tape on the outside where someone had taped the door shut. The door wouldn't lock at all, so every time we stopped for more than a few hours we had to take everything out. The the van came with a Hertz gps built in that locked up more than half the time , getting stuck on the same spot until it reset it's self. The the power switch on the gps didn't work either!!

Outrageous additional charges
Pros: Clean vehicle, friendly staff at pickup.
Cons: I made a reservation for a pick up in Rochester and a drop off at JFK. I called to apply my AMEX certificate, and Hertz gave me a new confirmation number, but they didn't say anything else changed. My original reservation was for about $420 for 4 days, or just over $100 per day. When I went to pick up the vehicle, I was offered a "sale" on an upgrade of $30 per day, which I took. Then when I went to drop off the vehicle, they claimed that the cost would be higher due to a drop off at a different location than the pic k up, even though that's what I was quoted and reserved. I ended up paying $650 for 3 days! That's more than double the daily rate I was quoted!! I let Hertz know of my frustration, and they said "As a goodwill gesture, we will remove the upgrade charges on this rental," which was a mere $30 per day. I gave them the opportunity to honor my original quote, and they still overcharged me by double and called it a "goodwill gesture." There are plenty of rental car agencies out there. Pick a different one.

Smelly, Rough ride, EXTREMELY Disappointed
Cons: The smell of the car was intoxicating. It smelled liked cigarette butts were attempted to be covered up by febreze. Additionally, the engine was so loud, I could hardly hear anything.

Cons: Check out person was very pushy with upgrades and insurance we did not need or want. No choice of cars, just a set of keys to a car filled with someone else's garbage. Sticky and filthy inside and out.
