The Kia assigned had a malfunction of the air conditioning system that likely had been noticed by an employee during cleaning. When I called the Hertz location, I got no answer multiple times. I then called another local Hertz that was actually closer at that moment and the same thing, no answer multiple times. I drove to that second location and they swapped the vehicle for the only thing they had available, a Jeep Wrangler. Much worse fuel, mileage, and noisier, but at least it worked. It had not been cleaned up at all and had around 3/4 of a tank of fuel. When I returned it, I noted the experience with the kind & concerned staff member (in another city,) and she kindly credited a good portion of the rental for all the mishaps, which I very much appreciated.Reviewed Jun 6 2026

I was charged extra fees in addition to what I had paid and was expected to be charged and I have no understanding what those charges are for and don’t believe I should be billed what I have been billed so now I’m going to have to go back and fight those charges, which is extra time and energy and frustration that I did not expect. I am very disappointed.Reviewed Jun 6 2026

Phillipe at Hertz was super helpful at check in. Our rental rate was high as we only did one day at the last minute. However it was a very nice automatic hybrid compact SUV that sipped gas and was easy to drive. Check in for us was easy but it might be difficult for some as parking spaces are limited (they use a public lot).Reviewed Jun 5 2026

Until this experience, everyone we met in Tahiti reflected the warm island spirit. The first thing the agent asked us about was adding extra insurance, and after we declined it, his attitude noticeably changed. Also, it was the first time we rented a car with zero kilometers included and had to pay per kilometer driven. The car itself was fine, but the customer experience did not match the hospitality we experienced everywhere else in Tahiti.Reviewed Jun 4 2026

It was extremely difficult to find the Malaga parking slot near the train station: the address on google point to a hotel parking, which is not the right one. When you finally reach the right parking, good luck for finding the Hertz return spot. After that, you need to walk up to the street level office. By that time you're late and they charge you one extra day. This is the definition of a scam. Besides, they never sent me my contract by email despite me having asked for it.Reviewed May 31 2026

Hertz allowed my reservation to be made at a time when their office was closed. So I never got the car, spent 3 hours on hold on the phone and they refused to immediately give my money back. If I could give five negative stars I would. Never doing business with this horrible company again.Reviewed May 31 2026

I had one of the worst rental car experiences I’ve ever had with Hertz in Memphis. I arrived to pick up the vehicle I had reserved and was told they didn’t actually have my car available. No alternative was proactively offered and there was essentially no attempt to help solve the problem at the location. Instead, the staff told me to call the Hertz 1-800 customer service number myself. After spending time on the phone, the representative there told me the local store should have been helping me directly. So I ended up stuck between the local office and corporate, with neither taking ownership. To make matters worse, the phone agent eventually offered me another vehicle—but only at a price that was about $350 more than the reservation I already had. So the solution to Hertz not honoring the reservation was apparently to pay substantially more. The entire experience felt disorganized, frustrating, and like customer service completely disappeared once there was a problem. If a reservation doesn’t actually reserve a car and the customer has to chase down solutions themselves, what’s the point? I would not use Hertz again and would not recommend booking through them based on this experience.Reviewed May 31 2026
