Cons: More variety to breakfast provided
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This apartment is in a great location just outside the walls of Lucca, with only a 5 minute walk into the old town, but on a quiet residential street. The parking facilities were fantastic and included in the rate. The apartment was very modern, well furnished, immaculately clean, and very comfortable. They provide a light continental breakfast to the room including pastries, which is very generous and included in the rate. Great coffee machine. Nothing to fault really. An excellent value stay.
Cons: No power socket by the bed for phone recharging overnight. The rest was all fine.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast delivered to the apartment was a lovely touch. Bed very comfortable and staff extremely accommodating and helpful. In particular the staff were exceptional when one of our party arrived at the airport and discovered she had left her passport in the apartment. They found it and arranged a taxi to deliver the passport to the airport pronto! Many, many thanks.
Cons: One of the double beds was smaller than the others but the staff did put up the extra bed for us free of charge

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything Fantastic rooms, location and staff. Great breakfast and value
Cons: Internet wasn’t great
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Reception staff extremely friendly and helpful. Well priced. Very well fitted out and very clean.
Cons: Although it did not affect us, we would have expected that a place offering a kitchenette would have some basic condiments, such as salt and pepper, oil, etc. Also not a big deal but just alerting you to the fact that the toilet roll holder in one of the bathrooms is loose. The air conditioners in the bedrooms worked well but the unit in the main area doesn't work. The block-out blinds were really good, helping us to sleep late in the mornings. an iron and ironing board wold be helpful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic! A 5 minute walk to the old town was just perfect! The room and amenities were all great!
7.1 Good
Pros: Good facilities, great location and very clean.
Cons: The Aircon in the main bedroom wasn't working, the staff tried to assist, but we ended up staying in a bedroom without any air-conditioning whilst the mercury reached 33C outside. Very uncomfortable.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to the old city and the train station. Great shower and comfortable pillows.
Cons: There is construction on the main rode to the b&b so Google maps took me in directions that were closed off. So when I contacted the owner I felt he was abit annoyed with me. But it was neather of our faults. Im a vegetarian so when I ate breakfast I didn't get anything different from others. No cheese or vegetables. It's an old building so you hear the pipes when they are being used.

Pros: Christian is the best host you can imagine! We had a really nice greeting and he gave us a lot of informations about Lucca, where to go and where to eat Everything is so clean and lovely arranged. I can absolutely reccomend Christian‘s accomodation for those who are looking for a perfect trip to Lucca!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was overall just brilliant! From the lovely decorated room to the super clean bathroom to the nicest and funniest host we’ve ever met! For real, me and my mum suggest everyone visiting Lucca to stay here. It took us only about 10-15min to walk to the city (780m) ! Our host was lovely because he gave us a city map and told us everything he knew about the sights and local restaurants. PLUS the bathroom even had its own aroma diffuser!! That meant there was always an amazing smell which gave our whole stay an extra bit of coziness. Mille Grazie, until next time!
Cons: To be completely honest, there was not one thing we didn’t like about our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cristian and Maria are charming, wonderful hosts - from the very first moments they make you feel like home. They are super friendly and helpful - they gave us some great tips about the city and were always there to help us:) The house was perfectly clean and very cozy, just about 10 minutes walk from the old town of Lucca. It is a perfect place for car-travellers, as it offers a private parking just in front of the house :) Thank you guys, hope to see you soon! :)

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owner was so welcoming and helpful. Would recommend 10/10 to stay there. Excellent place.
Cons: The only thing that can be a problem is lack of air conditioning. Apart from that this is a wonderful place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All the good things posted about the host are true. For us he provided a Apple charger cable to borrow during our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The most friendly and helpfull houst! Everything very clean and new. Bathrooms were clean and comfortable in spite of sharing with other guests. Location, parking and good equiped kitchen makes this place perfect.
6.7 Good
Pros: The hosts are the nicest people ever! We were greeted with complementary treats, free coffee and home-made ice tea. The place is very clean and cozy with free parking.
Cons: It is heartbreaking to say anything bad, because we felt well in there. Perhaps our fault for not reading up enough before booking. This is not a hotel - there are communal bathrooms in the hall, you need to make your own food etc. It is also quite a long walk to the city and there are no cafes nearby. All would be forgiven if not one thing - no air conditioning! Just a standing fan in Tuscany in August meant we stayed in the room as little as possible.
6.0 Good
Pros: Great beds
Cons: Long walk from the centre of town. No onsite staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cristian and his wife were very friendly hosts, we even got delicious homemade ice tea! The whole house was very clean and neat. One can tell that Cristian's highest priority is the wellbeing of his guests. Also, he gave us a lot of advice where to go in Lucca (which is a beautiful town!) Thank you for this wonderful experience!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is Fantastic for walking around the Walls of Lucca. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Lucca is a great place to visit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, clean and comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If Location is the key then Dimora dei Guelfi is a winner - right in the biz of Lucca and easy to get between the centre touristy part of the amphitheatre and the less touristy but really more for the locals at San Francesco. . . . I would love to give this place a 5* rating but as there was not a fridge nor a safety deposit box I can only give it 4.5*. Loved the flexibility and freedom of the card and key entry and as a wee added bonus our room had a small garden area/terrace - No breakfast was not a problem as there are many lovely café/bars really close by ! Will I go back = Yes ! Will I be recommending to family and Friends = Yes ! See you soon Dimora dei Guelfi
Cons: As I said a safety deposit box and a fridge and it would have to get 5*
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great, the hostess really nice, she came at 10pm to welcome us for a late check in and explained everything. The room was beautiful, calm and very clean
Cons: A bit noisy in the morning from 8 am due to the wooden door next to the reception but normal given that it is a very old building and doors are thin. Except that everything was perfect, we even had an access to a small terrace for the coffee where it was really quiet
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Best location to stay for us with car and kid. Great service
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were interesting and we had access to a little garden terrace. The location was great, as were the extras such as a coffee machine, kettle, fridge and microwave. Nice selection of extra toiletries. A lovely experience.
Cons: We had 3 rooms and one was quite small and dark. A shame as the other two were great.

Pros: The location, the garden , the food and most of all the wonderful management. Antonella and Barbara were very engaging, welcoming and helpful, and went above and beyond in assisting us.
Cons: Only one tiny detail: little shampoo and shower gel packets, no conditioner. Maybe try in-shower dispensers to cut down on waste and avoid the little bottles while offering an adequate amount.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unfortunately we just had one night in Lucca, but there could not have been a better choice than San Jacopo al Giardino. In a quiet part of the old town, it was perfectly located in walking distance of all major sights. Staff was lovely and helpful. We were travelling with a friend in a wheelchair and not only was his room perfect for his needs, also ramps were quickly made available for easy access. Highly appreciated. Rooms are very comfortable, cozy and clean, beds are great. Very nice garden in the backyard. Big plus: public garage in walking distance. Would be our first choice if we ever go to Lucca again!
Cons: Can't think of anything ...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Antonella was the perfect hostess. She arranged for her husband to make dinner for the night before the Volto Santo because we were arriving late and a reservation would have been difficult. They had a beautiful garden which we enjoyed two nights. It was very close to everything she was our tour guide too and was very informative and flexible. We loved our time in Lucca!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic garden and super friendly people.
Cons: The street is dull but just 5 min off the buzzy ones. Also charging 10 eur for check in post 7 pm is not very nice.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic place just on the doorstep of old town. Beautiful garden, spaceful room with additional space to sit and talk. Home made cakes, beautiful old house, helpful staff all of that made our short stay unforgettable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved staying at this B&B! Especially the breakfast each morning in the garden, such a great spot to start your day. The owner offers to make cappuccino/coffee, and some of the fruit/veggies at the breakfast buffet come from the garden. Felt very welcome from the minute we got there, owner helped us with getting our suitcases up the stairs and explained about the parking possibilities + gave us an overview map of Lucca. Such a beautiful city, and we would definitely stay at this B&B again in the future :) The room was quiet and had a great shower + bed (and airconditioning) too!
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: Breakfast was fine and main public area was a lovely room

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel, very clean, friendly staff especially the young man at breakfast, excellent location right in the centre of Lucca.
Cons: Thought the price was expensive, but typical for the location and time of year. Parking was expensive at €15 per day. Although there was the option to park outside the city walls and then walk in, I don’t know how easy it would have been to find a space. The beds and pillows are quite hard. The air con unit was very noisy so we didn’t use it at night, although it was hot.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I stayed for one week, and can't recommend this hotel highly enough! Every member of staff we came across was so friendly and helpful, and most spoke very good English. The breakfast was excellent - a good selection of hot and cold buffet items that we enjoyed eating on the beautiful outside terrace. The pool area is perfect - very clean and always sunbeds and chairs available whilst we were there. Rooms are comfortable and cleaned to a high standard daily, the air con was a huge plus for us! Beautiful and easy walk (5-10 mins) to the walls of Lucca. We didn't feel we needed a car with us as we enjoyed exploring Lucca so much on foot, but on the occasions that we needed a lift (to the train station) the reception staff kindly arranged taxis for us. They also have bikes available to hire which would be another great option for exploring the walls of Lucca. We will definitely be returning to Hotel San Marco, and can't wait already!
Cons: Nothing - we loved the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the staff were really nice and friendly, the chamber maids very hard working, the reception recommended great family run typical italian restaurants round the corner, which were very good value also. loved hiring the bikes even though at some nights we walked into Lucca. It is a very modern hotel and the aircon was needed and worked well. The breakfast was good and set us up well for the day. I would stay again if I was in Lucca. tip top
Cons: Having to go home!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: This is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places to stay outside of Lucca. The food was top notch, the pool and grounds were very relaxing, and the room was comfortable and quiet. We loved everything about our decision to stay here, even without a rental car.
Cons: The only potential downside is that it's about 3 miles outside of Lucca's city walls and the train station. We didn't mind this, as we wanted it to be a bit remote, but it's much more easily accessible with a car.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: Location. Far away from the city.
7.5 Good
Pros: Our room and location
Cons: Upon arrival informed that the restaurant was unavailable for two nights of our four night stay. The two nights we ate food in restaurant the meals were excellent. However we got the distinct impression that hotel clients were tolerated. With external persons being able to reserve the best tables. We did find excellent restaurants in close proximity to the Hotel so that was a bonus.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Where to start.. This place is amazing. The room was HUGE - 60 square meters. The finishes are amazing - the photo's don't do it justice. From the floors to the furniture, everything was absolutely beautiful. We had a room on the top floor with a view over the valley - absolutely stunning! The restaurant is tiny but the food was great. One of the best hotels I have stayed at, better than some that cost 3 times as much.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Stunning view, very friendly staff and very spacious room.
Cons: The mattress was too soft for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful villa in stunning location. Very friendly and helpful staff

Pros: The restaurant staff and food are really good. The location is great to explore the surroundings if you have a car. The rooms are big and comfortable.
Cons: At the check in we were informed that we have to stay in one room that night and then change the next day due to a problem on the booking. It was a little bit bad because we were traveling with our 6month old daughter and the logistics are different and more difficult. That upset us a little. Also that room (although a superior one, because it had a balcony) was not ready for us since it was not totally clean and there was no bathrobes and slippers (has there was in the other room next morning).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, food, location and view :) awesome place.
Cons: Pool was a bit cold and not available most of the day that we stayed there due to the rain day before

Pros: Great location just inside the walls. Parking was easy and a priority for us, travelling with a 9 yr old. We stayed in a family room in the annex across the road. Lots of space there. Staff were excellent.
Cons: Free booze at the buffet near reception tends to attract the wrong crowd...
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location fantastic staff. Comfortable rooms. Very good indoor and outdoor communal seating areas. Plentiful bikes for guests to use.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Convenient to all the major sights and restaurants within easy walking distance. We walked too and from the train station...although easier to go to the station than initially to the hotel. You will have to carry bags up the rampart on going, but all down hill on departure. The hotel staff was most helpful, made several dinner reservations and we were always greeted with a smile and good day. The morning breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day of sightseeing with a hearty breakfast.
Cons: Nothing and I would book once again during future visits to Lucca.

Pros: the staff were great made effort to solve problems when they could. great location good breakfast to start the day. great ambience when we were there the weather perfect beautiful greenery fun to have a glass of wine before venturing out
Cons: don't get assigned to room101 because you will be up at 5:30 while they are in the process of preparing your breakfast. the clients should be a little more careful when leaving the rooms door slamming can be irritating
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the Annex building room 14 which is 1.5 blocks from the main building. Our room was spacious and clean, with a firm King bed. The main building has free refreshments available all day long, and a happy hour with free Prosecco and beer 5-7. We also liked one could make his/her own Aperol Spritz for a mere 4 euros. A good opportunity to meet and converse with fellow travelers. The hotel is a short walk away from the main piazza and inside the walled city ring. The breakfast was good if not exceptional. Would only stay here if we ever return to Lucca!
Cons: Not much. We stayed in 10 different hotels during our recent Italy trip, i consider this hotel no. 2 of 10, only behind Hotel du Lac in Bellagio, which won out based on its sweeping lake views. The price was a little steep at E243 per night, but a good value considering all the amenities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ilaria and Francesco, both, spoke excellent English and were extremely helpful. The property was beautiful. All of the staff, including housekeeping and the breakfast staff were wonderful and very friendly. It was one of the best parts of our vacation. We stayed in a suite, with a loft bedroom and second bathroom. It was gorgeous. Then we moved to an upgraded room that was lovely. Both were off of the main building but were very close to it. We were very pleased. The bicycles were free and in great shape.

Pros: The room was large, modern, recognition, clean, and beautiful. Entire staff was wonderful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent concierge - very helpful.

Pros: Great location, within walled city of Lucca, 10 to 15 euros taxi from train station. Great staff, generous with information about where to eat, and warm and welcoming— a family-owned business. Gabriele, Ester and Daniel helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfast very good— Iacopo makes delicious machiato and cappuccino, a great way to start the day. Spotlessly clean. Stayed 3 nights and could have done 4.
Cons: Nothing to report
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location right in the centre of Lucca. Parking direct in the hotel garage. The help of Jacopo was unbelievable. We couldn’t find hotel because GPS difficult in walled city. Google maps and Tom Tom. Jacopo personally came and directed us. ALL staff were super friendly. Even the chambermaids were laughing and smiling. Were recommended great restaurants. Breakfast good too. Couldn’t have asked for more in fabulous Lucca.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The friendly and helpful staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent. Close to the train station however if you have luggage you should take a cab which can be difficult to obtain at times. No problem from the hotel to the train station, hotel arranged for and was an easy trip. The hotel is located in the heart of Lucca and easy walking to all parts of the city. The staff was exceptional in every respect and as was previously reported this is a family business. This is an old hotel but very well maintained. There is a lot of tour activity but does not interfere with your feeling of being over whelmed with people. I would stay here again if we return to Lucca.
