/The room was large and neat with an outdoor deck. Bathroom was warm. Must have radiant heat. Nice decor. Desk clerks very helpful. Spots on the rug. No refrigerator or microwave. Did have use of the one in the breakfast area. All fabric items were wrinkled. Could not figure out the Keurig coffee machine. Alarm clock didn't work.
Great place to stay. Breakfast was wonderful and filling. The location was very convenient. I would stay here again.
Very nice hotel for the money.
The hotel is beautiful! The beds are comfortable and who doesn't love breakfast included.
this place delivers little extra in every way… extra clean love the ping-pong table
Everything was conviently located. Everything clean. Staff was very friendly especially lady at the front desk with short black hair! Wish I would have payed attention to her name but she was very friendly. Hot tub was great.
I thought they did virtually all of the little things well: The check-in and check-out were courteous and efficient. There were enough towels, and they were of good quality. The shower worked well, had plenty of hot water and was high enough. The bathroom amenities (soaps, body wash, shampoo, conditioner and mouthwash) were very nice. The iron and ironing board worked well. The windows, curtains and HVAC system worked well enough. Despite being close to the freeway, the noise level was acceptable. The bed was large and the mattress was new and comfortable. It's both minor and personalized, but I found all four of the bed pillows strikingly uncomfortable.
I liked the close proximity to the downtown area and the free breakfast. the staff was extremely friendly and accomodating.
Location can't be beat. Super close to the plaza and across from a strip mall including a Whole Foods. Sloppy cleaning services, subpar breakfast, 15-min timer for bathroom light (can't take a longer shower without stepping out to turn on the light again!!) and general outdated-ness of the room with carpet that needs updating. Despite the great location I will not return, as there are more cons than pros here.
Location Affordable for area Clean Dingy Dated interiors Loud A/C Thermostat in awkward position
Bed was very comfortable Cute patio Pillows were very uncomfortable Room outdated - bath had chalk on top of chalk Toaster in the breakfast room needs to be replaced NOW. Waiting over 5 min for toast to pop up with a line behind you is NOT good.
Location Old run down place.
Close to the plaza so within walking distances for everything so very convenient. Loved their patio set up with fire pits and that we could walk out from our room. The floor above us must have had a family of kids bc we could hear them running and jumping early in the am and as we were getting ready for bed.
This hotel is in a great location just around the corner from the Sonoma Square. We had a room that opened up to the pool, making my kids very happy. The room itself was spacious and clean, a good value. We will definitely stay there again. it was a fine hotel.
location, services, full breakfast had a very difficult time adjusting room temperature at night. one side of bed much too cold other side much too hot. had to do with air circulation from air conditioner.
Ambiance I was very taken back being next in line when the desk clerk asked how he could help a guest who waltzed up to the counter. I was waiting my turn & felt the person who was already staying there should not have precident over me who was next in line before them. Should I have to wait if every guest came down for something before the person in front of me was finished? If not, when should it be my turn? I would have walked out after being treated that way if I hadn't already purchased the room before arrival. Otherwise the stay was pleasant & quiet. I may return.
Sauna by pool and hot tub was a nice touch, outdoor lounging space, convenient access to Sonoma square and town. Breakfast was mediocre continental.
Staff very knowledgable and friendly Parking too expensive
The rooms are on the larger size The room was dark and dingy. Don't eat the breakfast! The food is horrid. We chose Best Western because of the reviews, don't do it. We wanted to enjoy the pool, but there were leaves floating on the pool and it was expensive.
It's a clean, well-kept facility with a good location. The bed was comfortable and the price was reasonable. The structure magnifies noise, and the hotel doesn't discourage it, with loud parties and conversation continuing past midnight. The fitness room is small and one of the four machines broken throughout our stay. A calamity one morning canceled the highly touted breakfast, with no acknowledgment or discount by the hotel. Internet access is $10 per day. It's fine, and I confess that I haven't stayed in a better full-service hotel in the area, but there is no reason to look forward to staying at this property.
Hotel staff was nice. The food selection was good . Bed was comfy and room was clean. Asked for our bed to be made while we were out, but all the housekeeper did was put a pile of towels on the couch. We had to call later to ask them to make the bed. It may seem like a small matter, but don't think it's too much to ask. Nice to have a tidy room after a long day.
Very quiet and always appreciate the breakfast and happy hour! Wish the train was operating to Sonoma. Still a few months away. That will be awesome.
Nice location and a beautiful lobby. Quiet. Very large rooms that can comfortable fit 4 people. Liked the complimentary treats during the midday to evening. Each room has 2 rooms, each with its own hdtv. Comfortable beds with nice sheets. I used the fridge, which worked very well and kept my drinks very cold. It was obvious it hadn't been cleaned from the previous guests. The facility was dirty. Literally. There was urine on the seat and toilet paper in the bowl. The backs of earrings were on the counter and we only had one set of towels for a room meant for two people. I called to have it cleaned and it took them over an hour to send anyone. And when they did, after I'd called a second time to remind them, the maid merely flushed the toilet and left without cleaning anything. I requested to have my room switched but the person at the front desk said they were fully booked. So I was out of luck and decided to stick it out. Later that night I realized the ironing board and doors to the armoire were broken. Yet another disappointment. The next morning I was out of the room by 9:45 am. I came back just before 3 pm and found my room hadn't been cleaned. I waited over an hour before the maid knocked on my door. She walked in, made the beds, took away the wet towels, and within 10 minutes she left. She never touched the counters, vacuumed, or disinfected the bathroom. Then, to no surprise by this point, I went to use the complimentary microwave and found it a mess. It had obviously been used many times and never been cleaned. Luckily the first maid left a roll of paper towels by mistake. I cleaned it myself. If I stay here again, I'll have to remember to bring Clorox bleach, a sponge, rubber gloves, paper towels and air freshener. I'll keep my usual tip to cover my extra expenses. And it's 2015 Embassy Suites. What hotel doesn't offer complimentary wifi?! Especially at nearly $200 a night.
The indoor waterfall and koi pond, part of their tropical atrium, are really unique. They have substantial snacks in the evening and great breakfast.
Clean, quiet and comfortable! Great happy hour and full breakfast To holder is behind the user! Awkward!!
The room design, hotel layout, coy ponds, happy hour, breakfast, pool, honor bar style shop. It's a little run down and the bar closes early. It seems like it should be open later on weekends. Especially when there are no other options near by.
The staff was very friendly. Internet wasn't free for me.
i like the hotel, it was beautiful, I enjoy the water fall, coy fish, the hotel grounds very nice. the breakfast excellent... P.S. I like being on the firs floor. that provided us a great access to the beautiful scenery the hotel has to offer. I did not like the room. it was not what I expected from a beautiful hotel. the living room had a big conference table, it fell like I was at an office, that made it very uncomfortable, we wanted a private place to hangout but with the big table and office chairs, it was not possible. we ask the staff " a guy" for the room to be change but the staff member, that we ask, he told us we need it to pay an additional $50. I you can see as was not away in business nether was I meeting with other people for biasness. the staff member made a remark that my room was book by you guys and that they could not change any!!!
Nice place for families Couldn't control air conditioning to get colder
Spacious Rooms Cost, long walk to room
Room had a poor Ac . Just too hot
We arrived very late and the two women who were manning the front desk were absolutely fantastic. Very friendly, helpful, and just lovely. We wanted to sleep until about 9am, however, at about 7am Sasquatch began pacing upstairs, stomping back and forth for hours. We didn't get the rest we needed for our upcoming long drive.
The Marin Suites is next door to the Book Passage bookstore where we see many famous Authors visiting to sign their books. The location is only minutes from three malls and the freeway to Napa or San Francisco.
I liked that is was clean and quiet and that breakfast was included.
Loved my upgraded room. Bed was awesome. Short drive from downtown Sonoma. Concierge emailed me a list of wineries and restaurants that was very helpful in planning our trip to wine country. Original room I booked was tiny. Upgraded for $75 more per night to a room half the size. Needs a bigger entrance sign. Immediate surrounding area looks questionable, but glen ellen and Sonoma were a short drive away
Decent room. Spa was nice. Service was poor. Left an item in room that was gone 30 minutes later and no one at hotel responded to our calls or emails. Just poor customer service.
Loved the bed and pillows and the property Terrible cell reception. At these prices we shouldn't have to pay for internet, which is also terribly slow
Friendly staff, well manicured grounds. Paper thin walls and floors, dirty room complete with hairs in bathtub and bathtub that did not drain, poor on-site parking, false advertising in photos on all major booking sites.
Staff was great and willing to help out whenever possible Car service was complimentary Wine evenings with complimentary wine tastings Hotel texting service Free waters when heading out, great when going out for wine tastings. Not well insulated rooms which made it very cold. Occasionally some barking Self Parking gets filled quickly in the evening but they offer complimentary valet
Nice room, great old building with solid walls (nice and quiet). Great facilities (spa and hotel pool were great). Great staff, from housekeeping to valet to spa staff. Had a great time and would stay again. Old building means no elevators or ramps, which made getting around with a baby stroller difficult. Didn't like that you had to pay for wifi, and although they had free wine tasting you had to pay for the snacks. When paying for a high-end experience it is a bummer to have to pay for things that would be easy and inexpensive to provide, like wifi and light snacks.
Lovely setting Room was nice, but not 4 star - aging furniture, bad fluorescent lights, Spa facilities are fantastic Slow check-in process -- front desk never called to tell us our room was ready despite taking down number Santé restaurant didn't live up to "michelin starred" reputation Room not as spacious as advertised
Too loud with Wine poll party with loud music till 10:30pm just OK
Staff were pleasant and welcoming Accommodations need improvements! Very tired and creepy and we were moved twice because of room's condition. First was dark and depressing wing, next was not much better and third was best there was and only difference was location on property. It really desperately needs updating to be worthy of the grounds and staff!
$15 internet charge ruined the stay. Would have paid higher room charge, but the extra charge was a hassle and made the place feel cheap. A bad business move.
Was hesitant, as I chose based on stars and reviews alone - but this place was Amazing in every way. The grounds are beautiful, the staff was the kindest and warmest we've been greeted with in awhile and always ready to lend a helping or advising hand. The local town (square) was a beauty as well and while small, the stores, food and wine can keep you there all day. I'd highly recommend this place again and can not wait to come back!
No elevator Only a few of the staff need more training in customer service, starting with those working at Spa
Good customer service despite a overbooking problem, yummy breakfast offered (not complimentary). Overpowering smell in the room likely from cleaning products. Hotel overbooked and we were downgraded from king to double bed.
Location and. Amenities Our laundry was stolen and the staff was less then helpful in trying to locate it or at least see lif and when it was taken
Everything was good. It is nice to be able to count on this hotel to give good service every visit. Nothing
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The facility is very well maintained and clean. The room was really nice and bed was comfortable. Fitness center was spacious and high tech - cold bottled water was a bonus.
It was clean. They did not honor the pricing booked through Kayak. They charged me over double the agreed upon rate. They have a policy to not honor pricing if you don't book within their time window.
I travel for business and have stayed in many, many hotels over the last few years. I've never written a review for a hotel until today. I was very impressed by the warmth and hospitality of the Four Points San Rafael. The staff was happy to be there and happy to help me in whatever way I needed. Whether it was extending my checkout time significantly or getting me 4 bottles of extra water or faxing my papers out for me, it was done with a smile. The service here made all the difference to my experience. The room was also very clean and well kept. Thanks Four Points!
Comfortable room with very friendly staff. We enjoy the stays very much. My room is a bargain with almost 50% price of the regular room. Very good value but the room faces I-101 with highway noise. You may want to check with the hotel for better rooms.
I didn't like the adjacent doors that are now added to the rooms. Made me very uncomfortable during the night. There are latched on them, so I wasn't really sure if the door was locked.
Nice staff Older hotel, overall I don't think I will ever go back
Very noisy. We had to unplug the fridge to get any sleep. Lots of traffic noise. Lots of plumbing noise.
I did not like the harassment of the woman behind the counter by a group of four drunk men who were checking in. They were racist, she was Latina. It was an ugly scene. I feel as though having a security guard in the lobby would help people stay on better behavior.
Comfortable bed was,the only thing good about the place
The location was pretty convenient for exploring the region due to it being right next to the freeway. We were bothered by the noise whatsoever. The staff were harassing and embarassing each other upon check in which was pretty uncomfortable. Our room smelled of muggy wet dog and was pretty dirty. The bed was the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced in a hotel. The cleaning ladies came around (very loudly) to begin housekeeping at 7:30 am, way too early. Overall the experience was one of prefer not to have again considering the price.
The motel was clean except there was a foul odor in the hallway where we stayed. Staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was horribly hard so we didn't get much sleep. The floor would have been more comfortable. Awful smell in the hallway was troublesome because it also came into the room.
Clean room Not enough free channels on tv.
Location The experience would have been better if I slept in my car. Not only did I not get an opportunity to sleep after 3 calls to the front desk to shut down the college party next door, but the next morning the front desk person said he could do nothing and insinuated that the reason I did not sleep was my own fault. The room was equal to a motel 6 as was the service. Seriously, if you think about staying here, stay in your car and save a couple hundred bucks! Worst hotel/motel/camping experience ever!!
Walking path. Backed car to rear door made easiest unloading and loading ever. Normally, you would say a stones throw from the freeway, but so close, I think you can throw the stone over the freeway. Heavy drapes muted sound somewhat. Bathroom tiny. Price was way too much for what it is. Should be half.
Beautiful spot, overall atmosphere was really pretty. Within an hour from San Francisco and close to the 101. There were quite a few bugs in the room when we came in. A spider and then a few mosquitoes, kind of a turn off.
The room was as was expected and a great value for the cost. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Our room faced the garden. I liked that we had 2 entry ways, one lead to the parking area and one lead to the garden. We loved the swings from the center tree. My son had a fantastic time swinging and meeting other children. It was a bit cool to test out the pool but we are looking forward to another visit to try it out. Some people have said that it could use an update but I honestly appreciated the character. The swanky restaurant was fantastic and had live jazz music. The location was excellent and met our travel needs while playing in the area. The breakfast was simple but enough to start your day.
Room was clean, complete, well-organized and spacious. Colors were cheerful, but not obtrusive. Service was good. Clean bedding was delivered instantly at 8 o'clock in the evening when an open bottle of water tipped over on the bed. No problem. Restful space. Breakfast was simple, but adequate and fresh especially for self serve buffet. Hard boiled eggs were tender and done perfectly, a rare achievement. Open space with mature plants and trees out the big window. Quite nice. Gluten-free options for breakfast, please.
The grounds are nice. Lots of trees, flowering plants, some hammocks and a fountain behind the restaurant/pool. It's close to the interstate, which can be convenient but some rooms might experience more traffic noise than I did (it wasn't bad for me at all). I liked the look of the room and didn't have a problem with noise though I've read that some people have. Depends on your neighbor, I suppose. The bathroom is small but I didn't mind. There's no bathtub, if you're interested in that. Robes were provided in the back entrance closet area. I didn't use the internet but the TV worked fine. Ate at the restaurant one night and they let me take my dessert back to the room on a covered plate with silverware and a cloth napkin, then said I could just leave it in the room rather than take it back to the restaurant later. My meal was tasty and the restaurant's environment is relaxed and attractive with a pleasant staff. I was there in the off-season so it wasn't flooded with people -- that might make a difference, according to some of the other reviews, but I can't say personally. I enjoyed the stay and would probably stay there again if I were in the area.
The room was very clean Our AC would make noise from time to time.
We stayed in a recently renovated room. The walls are thin and you hear your neighbors... especially when they're having a party that lasts until 4AM.
The rooms were dirty and the entire hotel room was old. The bathroom was very small, outdated and dirty. We are never staying here again.
Staff was good. Place was acceptably quiet. Continental breakfast was a horror show in terms of food quality.
The cottages allowed for great privacy. We loved that folks had their dogs. Next time we'll bring ours! Staff was super friendly. Great location .5 m from Sonoma Square.
The lobby is beautiful. The bathroom is in need of a remodel. The shower is incredibly small.
Nicely appointed room, superior details. Excellent, responsive staff. Nice resort facilities, good location, shuttle to downtown Sonoma.
The friendliness and cleanliness No complimentary breakfast
Attentive staff and very accommodating. They couldn't pull our reservation into their system so we ended up with a handicap room that was all they had left.
Large lapping swimming pool was a nice surprise
Seedy, bad smelling rooms. Did not feel clean. Never again.
Bed was great. Room big. Good breakfast. Huge pool. Right off freeway. Would stay again. No elevator. Sink/vanity not enclosed in bathroom. No bar.
Convenience, price Motel-style set-up.
Front desk people were great we got in a little late. They kept the pool open for us which was a lot of fun. Then we relaxes by the fire pit. Great hotel just outside of San Fran.
For several years we have been using Best Western Corte Madera Inn as a favored place to stay when visiting the Bay Area. We like the shopping that is convenient to its location. San Francisco is just a hop away down the 101 and across the Golden Gate. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, also well appointed. Staff is courteous and helpful, and the free breakfast at the restaurant next door is really good. Some of the rooms sometime seem a little dated, but this is not a deterrent to us. It's a great location.
Rooms were quite big and comfortable. Many extras on the propert in an excellent location.
Great customer service! Nothing!
The Marin Lodge was charming and clean and completely redone recently. Rooms were cozy and comfortable with nice accommodations and we will be back!! Would HIGHLY recommend staying here!
We loved it here and will stay here again everytime we need an overnight in the city! It was perfect for catching the Larkspur ferry as its just minutes away. This made our Super Bowl activities that much easier. The owners were fantastic and made us feel like family. Can't wait to come back!!!
The location is great - close to downtown San Rafael. Also, it is a good value for your money, since other hotels seem to be way more expensive. The hotel manager was also a nice guy. It was a nice quaint hotel. Main problem was the hot water was not on when we tried to take a shower in the morning. Apparently they were doing some work in our unit, and jumped the gun on turning off the water ahead of time. Also, the phone did not work as well. The actual room was also pretty small - basically a studio room.
Great staff, clean quiet room, ample parking.
We loved this place. We would have stayed longer if we would have found it sooner. the bed was comfortable, the room had all the amenities you would expect; TV, hair dryer, microwave, iron, etc. They have a free continental breakfast of blueberry muffins and fresh fruit and coffee as well as complimentary sodas and bottled water The parking was very limited but I believe it was due to the construction which was apparently for remodeling as we noticed a distinct smell of fresh paint. It was a little far to drive from local eateries unless you are familiar with the area.
Huge room, wonderful beds, quiet, updated facilities, friendly management Breakfast/snack area was small
The staff was very kind with my very late 11:30pm check in. Also they have free water bottles! The room was elegantly decorated with IKEA stuffs but it was comfortable. We liked it very much. We would definitely stay there again.
The people were very helpful. When my credit card was stolen they were easily ably to transfer it to an out of state family member. I thought the food at the hotel restaurant was rather overpriced for what it was.
The grounds were lovely and offered a number of places to sit or relax
The stay was very pleasant. Maid service to the rooms had a communication gap, but we were able to communicate with front office staff. Although we recieved an upgrade, the room was for handicapped individuals, whi I'm sure could have bettter used the room. Front desk was not totally honest when we asked to move to another suite. The honesty issue mentioned above. There was another non-handicap suite available and empty, but we were told it was occupied. I visited the room, so I know it was not occupied at the time.
great place to stay
Great hotel. We will def stay there again in the future. The spa was lovely as well.
Friendly staff, nice place to stay in Sonoma. You could hear everytime someone walked up stairs from us, a bit noisy.
I would recommend the MacArthur to all of my friends. No
Liked layout of property - use of pool and spa were nice - saddles restaurant was good experience - like the square of sonoma
Pleasant welcome, obliging front desk staff. Beautiful gardens, and a 4 block walk into Sonoma Plaza. Room was very clean and comfortable. Only issue was the very miserable continental breakfast - and the usual awful US coffee.
This is more than just a hotel, it is an experience. We did not have time to use all of the facilities on offer, but those that we did were second to none.
The garden and grounds are beautiful! The restaurant on-site has great food and we enjoyed every day there. The rooms were spacious and the service was great. We enjoyed a 'couple-day' at the spa and were very impressed. Of the seven nights there, one night we had a neighbor that was a little loud. It quieted down by 10:30 and we never felt it was bad enough to call the front office. My wife said the only 'not-like' about the week was that we could not stay longer.
I had one of the best massages that I have ever experienced. The entire staff was consistently friendly. I felt that I was appreciated as a customer. I really liked everything about this hotel.
Pleasant staff and good size room. Very quiet. The beds were amazingly hard. I've never felt such a hard bed, even while traveling in developing countries. Room had a strong body lotion smell inside the didn't seem to go away.
very good for inexpensive motel. parking close, room was clean, refrig in room along w/ coffee maker. bed was fine. no complaints really. asked for a quiet room and got one. didn't care for noise in hallway while people were getting stuff to rooms, but it ended early enough. very quiet after 10:00pm
It was close to the freeway and 1/2 way to our destination. The price was moderate. Bathroom tile grout was completely moldy, afraid to go barefoot. Beds were hard and lumpy and the carpet had stains and bad repairs where pieces had been replaced. Their breakfast consists of coffee, cold cereal or a 1/2 of muffin. The parking spaces are extremely narrow, even for a Camry, plus several were taken up by buses, so we had to park on the street outside the inn.
had all the conveniences of home ie: microwave small refridgerator coffee pot good mattress Too noisy at night with people slamming doors and loud talking outside of rooms
Nothing Bed and pillows are super thin Couldn't park in front of our room because the pool was there The shower just sprays on the floor and soaks the entire thing resulting in us tracking water into the room
This should only be utilized as a last resort.
Nice staff, clean and updated room, convenient to highway. Natural preserve across street.
Clean n ez to get to from the highway Price
Pool was nice Hairs on the bed sheets, vinyl flooring through out the room looked clean but was filthy. my daughter came in from the pool and dripped water so she cleaned it up with her white towel and it was completely black when she was done. so grossed out. when I complained they gave me a $15 coupon for my next stay. I think NOT.
Poop on the wall, multiple different hairs in shower, we stripped a bed because perfume was dropped on the comforter from previous customer and we told the front desk. Housekeeping put the same sheets and comforter on. Had to strip bed and bring everything to the front desk.
Stained in the tub
Location; a very minimal room No shampoo, conditioner, or facial tissue. Adequate for 2 nights while visiting Point Reyes.
