Kayak users should be informed that according to the staff at Budget RAC, PIT has instituted a ban on renting cars for travelers who pay with bank and debit cards since scammers have tried to pay with pre-paid cards. We tried with them, another rental company and finally Alamo and the staff suggested booking the car online (KAYAK) and then it would work with that system and that is how we got the car. I don’t know if it would work with all of them but unless we invest in a credit card, Alamo will be the first choice for car rental from PIT from now on.

I was renting this car to drive to my cousin’s out of town funeral while my car was being repaired. I had a very tight turnaround screenshot and reviewed all of the terms & conditions in advance to avoid any major issues, particularly because I do not have a credit card. There was no language indicating a credit card is required for transactions at some Alamo locations. When I got to Alamo learned that this Pittsburgh airport location requires that you use a credit card, purportedly due to the $300 hold that is placed on the card. I had to take an Uber home and wasn’t able to get a rental from Enterprise (there are no other Alamo locations within an hour of Pittsburgh) until they opened at 9:30 am the following morning. I was late to my cousin’s funeral and was not able to give a eulogy and left my aunt scrambling to find someone else to speak. I caused her so much stress while she is mourning her son which is unforgivable. I checked on Alamo’s website and saw that there was language regarding possible credit card requirements when booking. If I had tried to book directly with Alamo, I would have seen that and found a different car rental provider. I thought I could use Kayak to save money, but there are some things that are more important than money. I will be actively discouraging anyone from using Kayak whenever I can.

I searched for a car Pittsburgh downtown. Without knowing it I was redirected to a Centre out of town. I booked the car and when I Realised it was $50 to get there was told I couldn’t change this. It cost $50 each way!!!! The system needs to be clearer if you are redirected to another location. I would like to request compensation for this given the exhorbitant extra cost.

Cons:

The car I reserved was not available at the airport. Instead it was located 10 miles from the airport and the location was closed before I could pick up the car. Left stranded at the Pittsburgh airport and no one at the Enterprise location would help unless I wanted to pay double and take a smaller car.

Cons:

A $200.00 deposit was required when I rented the vehicle (I was informed the deposit would be credited when I returned the vehicle.). When I returned the vehicle a day early, clean and without damage I was not given a receipt (paper or email.) Here we are 5 days later and no sign of my deposit. Disappointing.

Car had obviously been in an accident prior. Huge scratches and dents on passenger side. Car had message “needs maintenance” the entirety of drive and gas tank was not full on pick up. The inside of vehicle looked like it received a quick sweep but obviously was not thoroughly cleaned. Found trash in several cup holders and a hand gun magazine with bullets in console. Was very disappointed with the overall experience and told clerk about all of this but received no response.

Dirty car inside, like totally dirty and mark no damages, but there was damages and it was hard to c them at night what was the pick up. I was lucky to find the damages on a rental parking lot and make the photos, otherwise they would ask me to pay for them. Supplier choice

The supplier choice is apparently an EV even though I didn’t select the EV option. They require you to bring the car back charged. For a one day rental to the airport, that is not realistic. I was also charged for gas, which I had stopped near the airport and filled up. I eventually got a credit but the whole thing was a hassle and didn’t leave me feeling good about renting from Budget in the future.

Pick up process was ridiculous. I'm not exaggerating--standing outside (not in any type of building or cover) for 56 minutes while they tried to figure out rentals for myself and 7 other customers. Ended up just giving me a size up, was not cleaned well, didn't have record of what fuel level was at, and staff spoke all of 3 words to me. I saw the poor reviews at this location and figured, how bad can it be? Yes I got my vehicle and it worked fine, but the entire pick up and drop off experience was horrible and I do not plan to rent from this brand at this airport again.
