Cons: The location in Ocala that I booked through was closed at 4 PM on a Saturday. So I went to the Ocala airport rental location. They charge me double! Even though I had a reservation. The manager, Sam, said it was because I used a different location. The locations were only 10 miles from each other. He would not honor my reservation

Pros: The car was good
Cons: I booked an economy car, but when I arrived, the Budget did not have this level of car available. The person at the desk said that it would be an additional amount over what was quoted. I am used to rental car places upgrading you for free if the type of car you previously booked is not available. I will likely be looking to other companies in the future.

Cons: In both locations you were poorly staffed, one person to be exact. We were constantly interrupted by that person having to answer the phone while trying to wait on me. It made picking up and dropping off a real chore! I felt sorry for both employees as it was clearly not THEIR fault.

Car smelled like cigarette smoke.
Pros: Car was clean but smelled like cigarette smoke.
Cons: This is the second time I've picked up a car from there. Both times the cars have smelled like cigarette smoke. Since I'm not a smoker is was pretty bothersome. This also did not have a complete full tank of gas. I drive to the other side of town and it was all ready down a notch on the gas tank.
Didn't feel safe, the back plastic kept falling off
We asked for a different car, they were about to close (had a lot of cars, we were only taking it for 2 days) and said all they had was a Chevy Camaro, which was double the price
Cheap, part of the steering wheel popped off
Expensive for not taking it out of the state.
The car was very dirty when we got it, could hardly see out the windows

Cons: The vehicle is a gas hog.. I traveled 290 on a full tank the fuel light came on.. Not normal for a vehicle that size.. Wasn't even a turbo.. I had to stop to get gas before I reached my destination ( another 30 miles).

Hertz Hurts the Most
Pros: We liked the car itself once we were in it but it was far more than what it was worth per day to rent it.
Cons: Hertz has made it hard to get in a rental if you don't have a credit card and they have all sorts of added fees that wrack up the daily rate by a lot. Want someone else to drive? Pay extra for it. Want to have a full tank of gas when you start? Pay for it and make sure its full coming back or pay for that too. And your insurance isn't good enough so pay for theirs. Want to use the XM radio it comes with? Pay for it. Built in GPS? Extra.

Pros: I like the tool free rep who helped me out after the local office said I need a discount code, that no one ever told me about. He sent me away and told me to come back the next day with a code, it messed my whole day up.
Cons: I didn't like that no one told me about the cvp discount code I needed? I order through Kayak and they should tell people and I changed my reservation and she didn't tell me either, kind of frustrating.

Good rates and a good experience.
Pros: Ocala staff was very professional when I picked up my car. I liked the walk around with the Hertz representative in Ocala and the receiving of the car condition photos to my email address. The daily rate for my rental outstanding.
Horrible Customer Service Experience at Avis location
Pros: Ease of booking through kayak.
Cons: Arrived at pickup location at 7:30 for 8am pickup. Told "we are not open, take a seat." I was asked for my name at aproximately 7:50am. Rep briefly looked over paperwork and stated I do not have a car to fill your reservation. I asked, "with all due respect, what is the point of a reservation?" the reps response "that is a great question, what is the point of a reservation, corporate does this to me all the time overbooking" I inquired what could be done to resolve the issue. The rep stated she could rent the one fill size vehicle she had on the lot at that time that was actually for a renter later on in the day. Rep stated she would not price match the vehicle to meet my reservation. Offered no resolution to the problem, did not attempt to contact another location to transfer a vehicle, did not notify me of the problem upon arrival although she was completely aware but instead continued conversation with co-workers. This reservation was made 2 days in advance, my fiance and I both took the day off of work and registered to attend a seminar out of town. The rep then proceeded to tell me I need to put myself in her shoes. She picked up paperwork from the counter and stated she had 10 additional reservations all for small cars that she could not fill for the day. The reps behavior, lack of empathy and sheer lack of customer service / willing to assist was completely unacceptable. Absolutely nothing was done to resolve the matter or to provide any reassurance this would never again be an issue.

Pros: Car had low miles was clean and reliable, pick up and drop off were seamless.
Cons: We didn't encounter this issue with a flat, but it would be nice if flat tire protection was included in the rental, as that is typically normal wear and tear and should not be the responsibility of the renter (without added cost).
