I called to make sure there was a shuttle to this location. They told me yes, I got on the shuttle and it only went to the airport Enterprise. I asked if the shuttle would take me to the other, they told me no. So I had to cancel that reservation and rent from that enterprise and it was $75 more since I had no way to get to the other Enterprise.

I opted to refill the gas tank myself, instead of paying for their gas service. I filled the tank less than a mile from drop-off. I even topped it up. After drop-off I received a bill for TWO GALLONS of gas that they claimed they put into the vehicle. There is no way they fit that much gas into that car. Had I not been paying attention, I would've been ripped off. Double check your final email receipt. You may not get it for a day or two.

Firstly, Picking the car up was inconvenient. The business card i tried to use could not be used because the chip could not be read. I was told that would be the only way that they could use a card (no swiping the card or even manually entering. So, I used my personal card, while exclaiming my dissatisfaction. Then, first car I picked was absolutely filthy and moved to another car that was less dirty. I went about my way and drove to Ft. Liberty for work and then returned the car a few days later. The return process was much better at least. When I received my receipt, the final charges do not seem in line with what was presented on Kayak, and I asked for a follow up email or phone call to see if I could speak with someone about the matter and still haven't been contacted.

The car was old, burned a lot of gas. Drove 10 miles and droped a quarter of the gas tank. I’m pretty sure it had some engine problem. Very expensive for a mediocre car. Never doing business with hertz again.

The drop off location should not be used as a selectable location. No one was in the office, no drop off box is present, and when I called to change the location to a safe Hertz location 6 miles down the road, I was charged an extra fee out of my control.

Hertz was a nightmare to book with, and they're definitely penny pinching thieves. Modifying a booking is nearly impossible online, and if you try doing it over the phone, you'll get charged an additional 5% of the booking - absolutely ridiculous. If you decide to cancel and rebook because it's easier (AKA actually doable), you're the equally as screwed because even with a full month's notice, Hertz will not give a full refund and will instead pocket $50. The car we picked up was lovely and suited our needs, but they clearly didn't clean properly as there was a half-drank cup of soda in the car, especially concerning when Hertz declares they're doing extra cleaning because of Covid, I'm not convinced. I definitely recommend booking from any other vendor, Hertz is the worst.

Budget customer service told me that a shuttle would arrive to pick me up from dealership. None arrived. Called multiple times. No way to speak directly to the Raleigh location on Glenwood avenue.. Even customer service could not reach them. Took an Uber, and excuse was they had had no phone for several days. Location also hard to access, inside a crowded mall. Car smelled terrible- tons of sickly sweet “car freshener” trying to mask stale cigarette odor.

Very hard to find location, and the first employee was incredibly unhelpful. Told us they only had mini vans when we could visibility see jeep car keys on the hook. When asked they finally gave us the jeep we booked. Took over an hour to get our car.

We were not told prior to picking up our rental that there would be a large deposit along with the price of the vehicle. This would have not been an issue had we been informed so we could be prepared. They would also not let us split the payment on two cards. Therefore not being able to pick up the rental before they closed. Like I said, it wouldn’t have been an issue had we been informed prior to driving to the rental location.

Priceline booked us at an off-site location which was closed when we landed. Avis and Priceline both blamed each other when a $50 no-show fee was assessed and neither would take responsibility for assessing or removing it. Priceline did the same thing on another future rental so we cancelled it. We will no longer use Kayak for rental cars.

Both gals who helped me with pick up and then drop off were super.

Cons:

The pick up at the Raleigh NC mall 5 days before Christmas was very chaotic. I couldn't find the car once I had the keys, and the woman working was all alone so couldn't leave the desk inside the mall to help me find it. That was very time consuming and took much longer than it should have. Having dedicated and labeled Avis spots in the mall parking lot are a necessity, especially if Avis isn't going to hire extra help. She had to leave her post and help me find the car. She didn't know where it was either in the chaos of a mall parking lot before Christmas.
