Friendly and professional staff, check in and out procedures were very efficient. Staff willing to meet our needs, room was very comfortable. We did find it a little noisy both late at night and again early in the morning. Our room was in the older wing of the hotel - over the function centre. We have stayed in the newer wing on a previous occassion and it was a lot quieter.
Enjoyed it very much, only stayed one night and no complaints.
The entertainment for the family. lack of tea/coffee/hot chocolate in room
We stayed with our two small children and our room was extremely well set-up for us when we arrived with a cot and a single bed. Our two year old boy was unfortunately sick the night that we stayed and all his bedding needed to be changed and was in a bit of a state. The staff dealt with it professionally and calmly and made us feel at ease, it was a real treat to be looked after in this way. No, all good
Clean and Quiet and relaxing spa and pools, helpful happy staff, good service and good food .Location great for our family Reunion and local sites.Easy to find very handy, Go to the clouds of steam against the hills!
The room was nice, clean, very nice facilities, just next to Te Puia and the Maori village - great location. The location was however also a disadvantage of the hotel. As the Te Puia sulfur mud pools were very close the air was very smelly and sometimes even very hard to breath.
Very peaceful surroundings. The room service wasn't good in the fact we had to check back after 2 hours. We were told they had missed the order. It was then delivered some 20 mins later. We were advised the Hotel was busy - maybe more staff were needed.
The room was comfortable and had all facilities expected. Liked everything except the lack of regular black tea (eg. Dilmah) - too many flavoured teas were available. Also, the prices of room service Breakfasts were astronomical.
This clean, bright, new, comfortable hotel was very conveniently located for Te Puia and Waiotapu, which were my activities of choice. I'd recommend to anyone going to Rotorua for the Maori cultural experience and geothermal points of interest. Like most NZ hotels, the Heritage Rotorua charged for wireless Internet in the rooms. The international hospitality industry needs to understand that this is a service most travellers now expect nice hotels to include at no additional cost, just like a hairdryer or bathrobe.
Good location downtown, close to waterfront. My "lake view" room was dated, with some cracks in the doorframe and aging furniture. However, was clean and overall adequately comfortable. "Lake view" from 2nd floor simply means a view of the spa across the street, which is actually on the lake - we had no real lake view and actually paid extra for the "view". Would need a higher floor for the view. Room was not worth the price. I would recommend staying away from this hotel. 3 stars at best. See above.
The hotel was in a central location within easy walking distance to the city centre. The facilities were very good as was the service.
we have stayed there a number of times and like the general atmosphere, appearance and services and proximity to city centre
Comfotable rooms - excellent restuarant, rooms abit too warm one of our party did not have her details and room added prior arrival
Good, friendly service. Very comfortable room. Had dinner in the restaurant - excellent. Lovely location.
We had a Club Room which has an excellent view of the lake, continental breakfast, and happy hour. It is also across the street from Polynesian Spa which is the main reaon we stayed there. It is a very large complex with lots of tourist groups. So the hotel is very busy. But a Club Room avoids the congestion.
I very much enjoyed the spa where I had two treatments. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bathroom badly needs updating, and some more towel rails! I found it difficult having a shower in a narrow bath with a rounded bottom. I kept hitting my head on the shower head! Good pressure though.
relaxing with family and frirends spa room had lecking roof but it it was under repair so no problem
Welcome and Farewell gestures by management Quality of diner: a little pretentious
Convenience for local amenities and value for money
Great facilities. Lovely large room overlooking the lack and spa complex. Paying the extra to get this view was so worth it. Looking forward to staying again.
Bed was very soft and sank in the middle.
The hotel was very central (main reason why it was chosen) also it ended up being very close to supermarket, reastaurants and shops. Position very good. Price was good and free breakfast sold it. Room was smaller than others we encountered on our NZ holiday. Still the price was good and room adequate. Not complaining just noting.
very homely and decent, good value for money spent
Handy for shopping and visiting local attractions. easy walk to restaurants in the evening. No
It was clean and the continental breakfast was layed out nicely. It was also central to the city centre and restaurants
Good clean rooms and heated pool I am Gluten Free or low Gluten and there was nothing on the breakfast menu I could eat. Boiled eggs or something similar would have been nice.
Peace and Quiet No lunch or evening meal options - have to go out to eat.
The spa bath
The location within Rotorua The hotel room furnishings were old, needed replacing and didnt feel clean. TV was old and needs replacing as did the bedding.
Washer in laundry not working properly.
friendly stuff, nice enviroment, very convenient to all facilities NA
Location good, handy walking distance to town, lake front, museum, restaurants. nice view over lake. Comfortable, spacious room. Hard to find a fault, but I dont think there was air conditioning.
The choice at the buffet breakfast
The bathroom; powerful shower that remained at a constant temperature and was spacious. Lack of car parking on site.
Hot Spa Baths and the entertainment. Did not like the strong sulphur smells.
good value for money;courtesy of staff; location; quiet and relaxed no
Location is close to the lake as stated in website and the room in general is spacious for two. Also, the location of the room I was given was not as expected. The coffee/tea maker was not clean the color was more towards green instead of bright white. I could not make any coffee or tea.
Affordable Great location Bed was uncomfortable A/C had limited cooling
Very good value for money, reasonably central location, comfortable room and friendly staff Although the room was not too bad, the hotel is sited downwind of the pretty foul smelling Lake Rotorua
very helpful staff friendly and did thier best to accomidate all wants. room needed to be vaccumed under the beds when i dropped some thing the rolled under the bed their was all sorts of small bits and pieces under the beds rubber bands and bits of platic etc
location, warm staff smell of sulpher close by
The rooms are very large in size and very comfortable and the hotel is in a good central location. the gym and pool are a great bonus. Nothing
No appropriate table for use of computer. No good lighting to work in the room. Poor access to television options. No kitchen knifes or forks.
Good value for money The room was too hot, the wall mounted heater was not adjustable
Large room, small private balcony. Staff was welcoming. Very outdated hotel room that has needed a renovation for a couple of decades. The elevator had a funky smell to it and the room had no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan, opening the window doesn't help much especially with the Rotorua aroma outside. The bathroom door showed signs of flooding damage. The pool was out of service during our visit and the breakfast was medicore at best.
terrible room service – it wasn't serviced by 3.00pm and they took away our towels without replacing them.
Nice and spacious....
Liked the dedicated rooms with smoking balconies. Friendly staff. The hotel is a bit "tired". Some carpet in the lobby has stretched.
i wasnt too impressed with this facility. it was very tired looking and i didnt find the staff too friendly..although i didnt find people in rotorua too friendly either considering its a tourist town...room wasnt ready at 2.. we got sent up to a room that wasnt serviced and had to be relocated to another... please read the above.
Loved the gym and the pool had to ring and ask for toilet paper. The bathroom / toilets felt dirty
only stayed 1 night but liked the security camera in the car park and the spa available in the room and the recliner chair i was not greeted on arrival when i spoke to reception and made arrangements and found this rather poor as a greeting would have been polite and given a friendly atmosphere to our holiday .how ever on paying the bill i was given good customer service.
Good location, large spa bath in this room type, breakfast fresh and varied, spacious room air conditioning difficult to use, room was very hot, no wine glasses despite mini bar, internet prices exorbitant
We had asked for a two-bedroom unit but got a large three bedroom apartment with a private hot tub and well equipped kitchen. The staff checked on us to see if we needed anything. Unlimited free wifi, which is not always the case in NZ. Check-in closes at nine, eight on weekends. They had mentioned this in their reservation, but we did not notice as it was part of a lot of standard text that we didn't really read. Fortunately, we got there just as the manager was leaving. Also, the windows didn't have insect screens. If we kept them shut, the room was a bit hot and stuffy despite the fans (no AC), and if we kept them open, we got bit by some sand flies. The internet was weak and kept dropping.
Great location. Excellant staff. Parking is a problem. No AC. Bed very soft.
Hotel staff were all excellent...helpful, polite and well presented. For a 'city hotel' it was remarkably quiet, mindful that we spent only a Saturday night there. Not surprisingly, the hotel is showing signs of its age and in instances, looked "tired". Unavoidably, the only way to reach the Steiner Room was by going outside...in wet weather, not all that desirable.
The old world charm and ambience and the professsionalism of the staff The room was a bit small
The old unique/antique set-up. The rooms having an outside corridor, not too nice on cold rainy days
good central location and attractive building, helpfull staff quickly rectified small problem, large, comfotable room.
The situation and the building
This hotel had a very personal atmosphere and it was an interesting place for its heritage and charm. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was close to the centre of town and close to the beautiful gardens so was perfect for our needs.
Convenience to town & restaurants; free parking; spacious suite Would have liked to have washing machine in the suite instead of at communal area. The apartment is a little dated (70s-80s).
The hotel character and fine dining (which was not expensive neither). The pool area needs some maintenance.
Personal service of staff. Close to everything in Rotorua. Comfortable and felt like staying in someone's home. Just felt a bit "worn" and a couple of things needed to be cleaned better like the phone and the outside of the cupboards in my kitchenette. The wall paper inside the entryway was all buckled and loose.
Loved the contemporary feeling in a very old hotel. Would be nice to have had bathrobes and full house wifi.
Fantastic location, very obliging staff - they let us check out one hour later at no extra costs Nothing went wrong
It was well slituated and served a good breakfast.
A very comfortable four nights. Staff friendly and helpful. Room very comfortable and clean. Excellent buffet breakfast. Plenty of parking spaces. Conveniently situated within walking distance of local restaurants and shops, and driving distance to the many attractions in the area.
Quiet and Peaceful location. Close to Restaurants and I Site for picking up tours. Not enough staff on Reception desk to cater for Checking in/out and answering questions. I Never saw anybody at the concierge desk to assist guests.
In a wonderful position for views across lake and close to shops and restuarants. Nothing
All went well, nice place to stay!
Visited the Maori cultural evening at the Matai Village which was Excellent
Very curteous and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms, location excellent, easy walk to lake and shops and restaurants None at all
Clean and comfortable, good choice at breakfast. Close to town centre and lakeside. Reasonable size carpark. Free internet access was useful. The hotel has free internet access but limited time per day and is data capped. If you pay for internet access it is also limited time and also data capped at a very low data maximum. I would suggest that Novotel in general review the internet access policy for its customers. This is not a complaint but rather a suggestion.
Location is great and the room has everything we needed. We travel to Rotorua very often and this will be the place to stay! Pilows are too thin, a bit uncorfortable.
The buffet in the hotel restaurant was very nice, as was the service. Our room was quiet and comfortable enough. Room had no opening windows for fresh air and the air conditioner was inefficient. The number of teabags were minimal.
Comfortable bed, good kitchen facilities Thought it was a spa suite but no spa in the room
Would like to say a special thanks! My stay was great and the staff were wonderful... I will be returning on my next trip over... and stay a little longer!!.. Thanks again ! :)
The rooms were clean and spacious. Very well located for Rotorua adventures. Ian and Jyl were friendly, welcoming and helpful!
A bit old fashioned but very clean. Quite a few activities available (hot tub, pool, mini golf) but didn't have time to use due to Rotorua options. Kitchen had more than we needed but was handy. Didn't have air conditioning and no screens on window. Very small narrow bathroom.
