We reserved and paid for our car months in advance. But when we landed and after waiting in a long line, we were told they had no cars and they couldn't even give us an estimate as to when they would get cars. We called customer service and they found a car available in a nearby location but wanted to charge us 3 times the amount we already paid. I can understand if it's a bit busy sometimes, but it would be nice if Hertz could at least make an effort to make things right. They didn't seem to think they had an obligation to honor their contract. A few hours later, we did eventually get a car, but this was very stressful as we didn't know if we would get one at all and our destination was far from the airport. Another thing I didn't like is that it looks like Hertz gouges its customers on toll "convenience" fees.

Nothing. Car was paid for but no car was available on the same day I was planning on getting it. Terrible experience. And to put the icing on the cake, I've been charged for the car and insurance that Hertz did not deliver.

Cons:

When I pay for a car and insurance in advance, I expect there to be a car for me. Is that so unreasonable. I WILL NEVER USE HERTZ AGAIN

The car was a good value for the money.

Cons:

They did not have my reservation in the system when I dropped off the car, so I had to wait for them to finish with another customer so they could locate it. Luckily I had arrived at the airport with enough time built in, but if I was close on timing, it would not have been good.

The return process in Stillwater is a mess. It took 20 minutes with an inept employee who couldn’t find the reservation and then had a bad attitude. They can’t provide any receipt at the location that the car has been returned in good working order so I’m forced to take an awkward video of the employee saying it’s in good working order and returned.

Car was not ready. They tried to charge for things in a very shifty way. They did not disclose information that was important to the rental. They were emphatic that there was to be no smoking of any kind in the car and gave us a car that reeked of smoke - and then said that it was the cleaner they used to sanitize due to COVID. RIGHT!!! They charged us (prepaid) for a full tank of gas upon return, said we had a full tank of gas when they gave us the keys, but the car was only half full. When we pointed all these things out, they became defensive, dismissive and resorted to lies.

My reservation was cancelled by enterprise and I was not notified. Very frustrating and ended up having to Uber 85 miles to my destination. There were no other rental options in the entire city

Worst rental car experience ever! Reserved car 3 months in advance, arrived in Tulsa to find no cars available. They claimed a conference in Tulsa had "slammed" them. I think if they would read the local papers they would know when conferences were occurring in their area. After an hour we finally got a vehicle which had not been cleaned or serviced. Someone had a dog or other pet in the car and the fur got on everything we wore. There were incredible stains on both front seats; I don't even want to imagine what happened there. The front of the car was bug splattered and had paint peeling off the hood. Ours was a 6 day road trip and we quickly found that one tire had a slow leak and we had to stop periodically to air it up. Then the Check Engine light came on and off and we just crossed our fingers that the car would continue operating. I will never use Avis again even if I pay more to use another company. Horrible.

I rented a Corolla but was bumped up to a 4Runner because at pickup time. While I enjoyed the vehicle, the lower gas mileage made the rental more expensive.

The staff was helpful, but the Avis's policy on accepting payment is nonsensical and downright idiotic. They would not accept my debit card. I literally use this card EVERYWHERE -- travel, retail, etc. -- both offline and online for much larger and much smaller purchases, and I've never had an issue. Then, Avis says they can't use that to rent the car to me? Are you kidding me? I'm a Preferred Plus member and have rented cars from you many times. You know you can trust me to pay, and you know who I am. (I literally could've walked over to an airline ticket counter, used my debit card to buy a refundable ticket, returned to Avis to rent a car [since that's the only way they said they'd accept my debit], and then returned to the airline ticket counter for a refund. That makes NO sense.) AFTER THAT FIASCO AND ARGUING WITH THE STAFF TO NO AVAIL, I tried to see if they could use my American Express card that's in the system (since I use it regularly for work). They needed a code, but I didn't have the card (it was in my home in another state). I got on the phone with American Express, and they were willing to give a 1-time code (they said they do this regularly with companies when their clients don't have their cards). Unfortunately, Avis didn't accept that offer either. GRRRRRRR. I ended up having to get a local family member to swipe a credit card of theirs. So frustrating!

$250 for an economy car we used for 2 hrs from Tulsa to Joplin seems pretty steep! High price for convenience. The process was very smooth, from online rental to pickup to return.

Zero customer service through dollar and kayak both. Basically got screwed out of my rental. So I paid for nothing. Crazy this was my third rental in two weeks through kayak and have many more to rent but will never use your services again

Our flight in was delayed and when we got to the dollar rental. Everybody was gone when I called the night manager. He simply said sorry. You'll have to come back tomorrow. So basically they stranded us at the airport in Tulsa. Luckily, enterprise stepped up to the plate, and did a fantastic job of taking Care of our Needs. And making us feel like they really cared. We won't be back to the dollar. Also, my wife rented this through the kayak app. The scheduling between flight times and return times on the rental were completely mismatched. You had us turning the car in at 12 noon. Our flight wasn't till 630, so it seems like the whole thing was a gimmick to begin with where you guys are trying to get us to spend more money to extend the rental in the first place. I don't think we're gonna be back to the kayak app. Either.

Fast and easy the pick up and drop off. No hassle and fast statement received once I had returned the car.

Cons:

No surprise charges when picking up the car. When reserving the car it should already calculated how much is expected to be charge.

Cons:

the additional fees incurred at drop off were not disclosed properly at rental. those fees should be disclosed when someone is making the purchase. it's shady and nobody feels good about their rental when they're slapped with that. the vehicle was clean and full of gas, i'm talking about the "standard" fees that everyone incurs.

I needed a car to drive to Dallas on short notice. I mistakenly thought I will rent a car from the airport location. I was able to reserve the car a pay for the insurance however, when I went to pickup the car I was turned away empty handed. Apparently, If you don not have a major credit card you can not rent a car. However they are more than happy to accept a debit card payment for the insurance. Very frustrating experience and I basically got ripped off. I am comforted to know all of this is in the fine print.

The women that helped us when picking up the rental was wonderful; the car was clean and new; drop off was super quick and easy. Will definitely use Thrifty again.

Cons:

Prices could be cheaper, but for a minivan with leather seats at about $70/day it’s not too bad.

I got a car...

Cons:

I reserved a car online- a small SUV. When I arrived I was told they ONLY had compact and economy cars. And that it would still be the same price. I was given a tiny little car with no key fob to lock or unlock. It was really dirty on the outside like someone had driven through the rain and dirt. And the tire pressure was low. I’ll never rent from Thrifty again. I’ll pay a little mike to go with Hertz or National.
