quaint - cheerful friendly hosts - lovely & super clean front bedroom has a very slanted floor - understandable due to the age of the building. but still uncomfortable a little when sleeping. Also front bedroom had a lot of traffic noise all night.
Staff, decor, room lighting, bar snacks, checkout, Price of food and drinks,
It was extremely comfortable and peaceful. The service and choice at breakfast was great. A pleasant stay. Changing facilities were a little cramped in the leisure area.
Food was excellent. room was very clean and the staff very friendly Nothing we didnt like
expensive to stay. Unacceptable to have to pay £5 per night for car parking and £18 for internet access. In the Far East these would all be Free for Guests. would not stay again because of this. (Also £3.95 for a bottle of water in your room./ Outrageous!!
The staff were very helpful Food in restaurant was not hot enough
Clean, comfortable, style of furnishing. professional staff who were well trained and efficient. Car Parking Charges Limited food choice in the main restaurant, buffet style did not like, good starters but main course is not to my liking in terms of quality
The staff were excellent and the food good Having to pay £3 per day for car parking
rooms need updating
Hotel very modern and convenient to racecourse . Guest ares clean and spacious. Some confusion regarding car park charging for overnight guests and food expensive
Large clean comfortable room, good breakfast, pleasant helpful staff Bathroom door lock mismatched with door
convenience for our destination
It exceeded exectations for such a modestly priced hotel. Facilities - breakfast, space for working, comfort of bed, cleanliness of room, provision of essential toiletries - were all excellent.
We used the Holiday inn Express while visiting a family member. It was comfortable and convenient.
I found the hotel to be be first class in terms of staff service and a relaxed atmosphere. I would have liked to see more of a choice in the breakfast buffet on the cooked side.
Convenience, and excellent carvery right next door (The Porridge Pot)
Facilities within the room was excellent. The shower was easy to use. Breakfast was unhurried and offered a great selection. Would have liked a small settee so that we could sit comfortably although there was a chair by the desk
On arival a member of staff told us we had arrived early (45 Min) and had to go away. There had been a traffic accident and all the roads where grid locked. The reception we got was a bit off hand in the circumstances I would not mind but we use this hotel quite a lot and may now have to look for another. Training in customer relations may be needed we pay there wages.
not a lot faceless, poor facilities and expensive
Central to the town so lovely to be able to walk in quickly. The hotel is spacious- reception is well laid out. Cleaning staff knocking on the room door at 9.a.m, particularly on Saturday morning when you are not checking out that day.. but also on Sunday..
It is in a really great location.
clean rooms fresh and friendly staff yes the window did not open, it was screwed shut and when asked for a fan ( as my wife is 7 months pregnant) we did not get one.
Lovely to be so close to the centre. With a party and prepaid afternoon tea and dinner. Afternoon tea was urns of tea and coffee and prewrapped biscuits. Not 4 star rather like a poor B&B offering! TV screen really dirty and dusty. No soap dish. Half used shampoo. Not even a post card in the drawer. All quite shabby for the price asked and not like any 4 star hotel you would find elsewhere in Europe.
The Hotel was clean & tidy, rooms were a good standard. Staff very helpful, its a Holiday Inn. The Beds do take some getting use to, the pillows soft or hard are not good. Paying £10 for wifi - 1st hour is expensive. The hotel can have an issue at breakfast if everyone decends at 7.30 / 8am as they can run out of food and the tables can be full and not cleaned !!!, I waited over 10 min and when i eventually got my breakfast I sat down at a table that had not been cleaned away, full of cups and plates, throughout my breakfast nothing on my table or around me was cleaned or moved !!...other than that its a Holiday Inn and getting better
The warmth of the hotel (bitterly cold outside during our stay) and the lovely breakfasts. In fact, we liked eveything. There was nothing we disliked.
The Hotel was central to everything we wanted to see. Staff were very helpful. Food - excellent with good choice including dietary requirements. I have some mobility problems and a room was arranged for us near to lift which was great.
room was overlooking the river
Location very convenient. Quality very good and very well maintained. Is it necessary to charge customers for car parking if they are paying guests?
Close by the town and easy to walk to the main venues of the city. had a power outage which was not their fault but when that happened the lifts in morning did not work, so staying on 3rd floor was a bit of a hike with all bags if you have a wife/Girlfriend
place on the outside a bit run down manager was very helpful not enough staff
Nothing Room, Food, staff, communcation Already in the hands of the people claiming to be the hotel owners &Wyndhams the company who issued the franchise.
Good selection for breakfast
Close to an event that we were attending for the week-end. Dirty rooms, clumps of dust on the walls, poor decor, wallpaper ripped off in places. Holes in the sheets and not fitting the bed properly, bedspreads dirty. Asked to change rooms a small improvement but not much!
The room was very comfortable and good value for money with my husband and I paying just £44 a night for a double room exc breakfast.
Clean and very comfortable Nothing
The evening meal was up to standard, and we received good service. Error made by staff regarding our booking. Only one room allocated for 4 people, instead of two booked. This however was sorted out, but one room was inadequate as the bed was small and the duvet was not big enough for the bed!
Lot of road noise, difficult to get any sleep
We ate at the restaurant and this actually spoiled our stay at the hotel. The food was dreadful, we had a pasta dish which wasn't cooked properly. The waiters brought dishes out 1 at the time and took ages to serve. Whiles we were there 3 lots of people left, 1 family and 2 single people. The 2 men sitting at the next table said that "the food was ok and that you needed a week to be served" . I told the head waiter that the dish wasn't good but he didn't seem bothered by it. So I would say that unfortunately although the hotel was good, the fact that the restaurant is so bad did spoil our stay.
Good facilities, friendly and helpful staff, good standard of cleanliness, new restaurent excellent, food served efficiently. No lift installed yet, hard for elderly people to use upstairs bedrooms, but we had help to carry our luggage up to the second floor arrival, which was appreciated. Until the lift is installed customers should be warned of this hopefully temporary problem. Room service should be provided with hotel and local information on various public services
Nothing! The reception staff were not welcoming and the reception area and lounge had an odour reminescent of soiled nappies. In the restaurant we had pre-dinner drinks at a dirty table. The food was awful, obviously realised by the waiter who offered alternatives which we declined. We left early as we could not stand the place any longer. The 4 stars and 2 AA rosettes are not justified.
Helpful friendly staff The bar did not serve hot food during the day - this way have been a one off
The grounds were beautiful and well kept The staff were a little slow at breakfast and needed directing.
Breakfast buffet not great, lack of availability of spa appointments, lack of evening meal options - expensive restaurant or room service
Location, facilities, grounds, restaurant (excellent meal) Room was above the bar/function room and we found it very difficult to sleep because of the noise of revelling guests. Double glazing would help.
The peace and tranqility and the convienience as we had to attend a funeral in Hatton. We would definately return sometime as the facilities were excellent The room was modern with excellent facilities
Very relaxed, staff always tried to help. Only little things. many of the public areas were not warm enough. The restaurant was good but pricey.
The quiteness and privacy and the choices of lesiure facilities no
Pleasant, efficient service, spacious, pristine room with comfy bed and particularly comfortable pillows - who is your supplier? Views, grounds, excellent breakfast. Evening wedding party took over bar and their music was so loud that even we, banished to the "Oak Room" or some such, could appreciate just how awful the band was. The price is , of course, outrageous, like all hotels, of whatever class, in Britain. You can stay in far more opulent surroundings at half the price, in Europe.
The grounds and facilities were excellent. The restaurant menu was not to our liking
Loved having use of the pool, jacuzzi etc. Food delicious too Room smaller than expected, few children in pool at one time
The location was excellant and the staff very helpful. Place could do with a revamp as it was looking dated and tired.
The bed was extremely comfortable. Nothing.
Beautiful surroundings, great food, ecxellent accommodation
Leisure facilities, beautiful setting Room was quite cold; restaurant food expensive.
We were given room 66 the Love suite, it was absolutley stunning
The room was very good and the bed comfortable.
The hotel was very near where we needed to be that night- it was lovely to come back for a nightcap and go into the residents' bar to have someone playing the grand piano! There was a lot of noise, I think from the heating system, which awoke us very early on Sunday morning.
superb! really nice hotel, great spa and pool, had a lovely time. shame about the weather though!
the position of the hotel needed decorating
Location of the hotel and the facilities Room faced noisy road and church with a clock that tolled every hour
Great room, excellent staff, great location for the town and surrounding area. Thought the en suite could have been cleaner.
it was right in the heart of Stratford and there were good parking facilities. All staff were very friendly the bathroom was a bit shabby
Very good for sight seeing, Theatre, shopping, every thing is close to hand with in walking distance.
The room was delightfully unusual with oak beams. The hotel itself was very pleasant and ideally located. I also liked the RAF and Navy display in the lobby. Breakfast, although adequate, did not quite match the rest of my very good experience at this hotel.
The room was a little tired and in need of redecoration.
Very comfortable with modern and historic feel to different parts of hotel. Very cosy by open fire in traditional surroundings. Food well cooked and presented but menu rather limited particularly from day to day. No real problems but lack of drawer space in bedroom and shelf space in bathroom.
It was near to the theatre The room was of a poor standard with filthy net curtains. We had mould in the bathroom and wrinkles in the carpet. We had stayed at better B&B's in Stratford. This was a birthday treat for me and I was severely disappointed.
the convenience of the hotel to the town and theatre, and also the pleasantness of the staff. although the tv was receiving digital stations, very few apart from the five main ones were available. Specifically BBC4.
Charming building, shared rooms (breakfast room, etc.). Staff was quite nice The bed in room 10 was not only terrible (springs sticking up no matter what position I tried to adjust myself into) and should be replaced or topped with an actual mattress. I've never had such a bad bed in a hotel/motel. Additionally, apparently you also have poisonous spiders. I awoke from what little sleep I got on my second night's stay with a rather large welt on my side below my arm, and my arm at the point where it had rested against my side. I checked out; took train to London, and by evening the welt had grown to 12cm x 24cm, turned redhot in temperature and also purple-red in color and my entire right arm ached so terribly, I thought it might be a heart attack. Also raised my blood pressure to 160/103, which is terribly high and dangerous. Turns out it was a black widow, the dr.s think. You have black widow spiders in the guestroom and bed of room 10. I was really quite ill with it for 48 hours. As if the mattress being uncomfortable was not more than enough to rank this location very poor, indeed.
Location was good and the history and looks of the hotel The wecome was dreadful room was dirty we had lunch when we arrived and had to ask for my money back as my wifes chilli was full of grissal and fat. I think if we had not got our money back I would have gone to another hotel to stay
The staff were friendly, the breakfast was good. The bed was very hard and creaky. The bar had intrusively loud music - so we didn't stay there to eat in the evening.
Food was good No real bad points, Hotel is old and showed in decor
it is a beautifully preserved old building with lots of character and very close to town centre the website description about there being parking on site is very misleading. we checked in at 2.15 & were told that the only 3 spaces they have were all taken; the woman who checked us in was very rude & abrupt & didn't care that all the parking spaces were taken. 'not her problem' was the attitude; rather unwelcoming
Friendly and full of old charm. Good breakfast. Close to the castle and the shops. A hum all night possibly the freezer nay just be the room we were in.
Location and cHARCTER of building
The best thing about The Tudor House Hotel would have to be it location due to our visit to Warwick Castle, however a close second would have to be its charm and atmosphere. A bit overpriced, the four poster bed was not as impressive as I thought it would be,and did not really fit in the room.
Location, parking ( a real issue now in many towns) Supper in the bistro was excellent, though menu very limited, the food was cooked perfectly & service pleasant. Lack of sound proofing between rooms, I could hear everything said next door to my room 102. Also no door knob, so quite difficult to open (from the inside) as nothing to really get hold of. Time to get any hot water an obvious issue.Hotel guide is in need to reprinting, mine tattered & falling out of its cover.
the timber floors were noisy! I had asked for a twin got a double but staff were very good and changed the room. The water for the shower took an age to heat up I washed instead although my room mate managed to get a hot shower
Friendly staff, good food & service.
Parking available The double beds in the rooms are very small and the decor is dated. The staff were not welcoming and when we left didnt even say "thankyou" for staying.
the room was comfortable and the bathroom large heater was timed and only came on at times. even then it was ineffective in warming the room.
Location is excellent Room was cold
Airlock in the shower system. Water stopped running in the middle of a shower. When asked for a port at the bar give a shot of port in a tumbler. Complained and they gave another shot.
Very good food. Average bar arrangements and service
You could hear people turning on the light switches the walls were that thin. I know that its an old building but does every floorboard really need to squeek?! Turning off the hallway lights at night (or putting them on timed) would be a great help, as the gaps in our bedroom door made the room very light at night.
Locality Yes the carpets up to the bedrooms were very threadbare
No hairdryer in the room.
Room ready when we arrived a little earlier than expected. Very warm welcome, Excellant dinner & breakfast. Could do with central heating & double glazing
Noise from the visiting Mop Fair. No double glazing to windows and bathroom had only a small towel heating rail to heat the large bathroom.
great food (even the breakfast was awesome!) and excellent staff! We arrived quite late at night (10pm), and we were not able to have hot food, but they let us have some great cold platter and soup of the day. all were so delicious and nicely presented that we were so touched! Our shower in the room were somewhat broken and we could not use hot water - but we were promptly offered to use the shower at other room, which were great!
The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly which complimented the wonderful food and ambiance of the restaurant/pub. The room was clean, tidy but a little cold and the tv couldn't be tuned but that would not prevent me from returning at the earliest opportunity.
Excellent location, delicious food, good wine selection.
Staff were really friendly pub was beautiful! Nice food, room was very nice and the shower was amazing nice and big and pressure was really good A tad noisy but its a pub so really didnt bother us at all to be honest
Central position, easy access to shopping and parking. None
Great hotel, superb staff and excellent food. Ideally positioned in the centre within easy walking distance of all attractions Parking is a pain having to transfer from road to multistorey and back
We found that all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was very comfortable with a good ensuite. The breakfast was individually cooked for us and there was a good choice of menu. The location was ideal, right in the centre of Warwick. We would like to return to Warwick and will definitely stay at the Rose and Crown. Thank you.
Having stayed at this hotel twice before, when it was owned by the Folio group and very good, I recommended it to friends for a get-together. It has since changed hands, the standard has dropped, and I was embarassed by having recommended it. None of us would go there again.
I would give the hotel a higher rating at least three and one half stars
Nice, quiet, relaxing location with excellent facilities and very helpful staff.
friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms, nice luxury touches
The rooms on the otherside of the car park now appear to have wifi access.
Room was clean, warm and comfortable. Free WiFi - I appreciate this because so many hotels want to charge you for it. Breakfast, buffet full english was good. Dinner was tasty, not gourmet, but reasonbaly priced, with good service. Only thing that comes to mind is the poor selection of beers in the bar. No real beer, just lager and the dreaded Tetley's Smoothflow. Prices were inline with a pub.
Excellent Location. Bar & Restaurant service poor. Quality of breakfast food good, but buffet selection poor and individual items often not replaced
I stay in hotels around the country 3/4 nights a week and I was delighted to stumble across this hotel. The hotel is extremely comfortable with a high standard of fixtures, fittings and decor. A very spacious room, extremely clean, large tv and excellent bathroom. The food was of a high standard including a very impressive breakfast choice and all very well presented in a very comfortable restaurant. However, best of all was the high standard of customer care skills from everyone including the groundman . Very warm and welcoming staff. Absolutely nothing - an oasis of peace and calm in a busy world.
bar staff were a little lax in not seeing customers waiting
No Lift !!!!!! and no shower curtain
The staff were very helpfull and the location being close to the NEC The hairdryer in our room did not work.
The hotel was comfortable When we entered the room it was freezing. There was no instuctions on how to use the heating/cooling system. We booked an early morning call for 7am, this was not forthcoming and as a result were later than expected for an engagement. When this was pointed out to reception at checkout all that was offered was 'sorry' I feel we should have been offered maybe a free breakfast as compensation.
Hotel room had a strong smokey smell to it even thogh a non smoking hotel
Easy access to NEC site The decor is a bit "tired" although I appreciate the hotel is well used 24/7
Efficient and friendly Staff Very good pool and liesure set up Room a little basic - very little toiletries and no biscuits with the coffee/tea making facilities
The public areas were very welcoming, the restaurant was very good and the staff were very helpful. The coldness of the breakfast room which was almost next to the front door.
Good food and good service Warm, ac would be a benefit
ease of access to rail station & airport & NEC facilities. The staff were very helpful & polite. Would definately use this hotel again.
Polite and helpful staff Tv to complecated
Freindly Staff Value for money size of room no bath
friendliness of the owner/cook,andthe marvellous breakfast she provided. she was also very flexible about the checking in time with me. perhaps the rooms could do with a little modernisation.
We were well looked after by the landlady Mrs Bruna, and nothing was too much trouble for her.
Pleasant staff No
the owner was very friendly The whole hotel was in need of a facelift & has very oldfashioned decor/furniture etc.
My room was not ready when I arrived, so I was moved to another nearby hotel for the first few nights of my stay. But the replacement room was excellent and the entire situation was handled well and without causing me any difficulty.
Great 4 poster bed
Very nice lady, how likes to help, very close to places to eat
The friendliness and helpfulness of the owners who went out of their way to give us information and help
Good location, room was well furnished and clean, an empty fridge was very useful. Didn't suffer from banging doors and creaking floorboards. Excellent car park location and easy access to the hotel from the car park that didn't appear to be locked - so no mammoth treks to have a late night cigarette. No internet, the broadband connection in my room didn't work so I had to pay £40 to use WiFi when it is free at most hotels in the area. When I got the WiFi it was a poor connection and didn't work at all for most of one night. Room key card was erratic at best - it took me around five swipes on average to get into my room.
friendly staff, very good location.
extremely close to the RST theatre, no more than 5m walk; very quiet, free parking, great breakfast and very comfortable bedroom. waiting staff on the restaurant could be increased in numbers - or efficiency - waiting 15 minutes for the waiter to take my breakfast order, while the restaurant is half full is the only negative item to point out - the breakfast itself was fantastic.
The location was perfect for visiting Stratford as only a short walk over the river into the town centre. The staff were extremely friendly and the hotel had a very relaxed atmosphere. The room was very clean and had everythiong we needed inclusing an iron and board already in the room. Our stay wasn't long enough! Could have done with an explanation at check in on how the plug in the sink worked as we thought our was broken!
no dining facilities
central free carpark
We only stayed one night, but it was comfortable, clean, very convenient short walk to the Theater, not far from the rail station, walkable to the sights. People were friendly, and room service breakfast was right on time, so we could catch our train to London.
convenient and clean
the breakfastroom and quality of breakfast No lift and long walking distances
quiet, calm location
This is a good hotel and is very conveniently situated for the town and for walks along the river. We have stayed here many times and it is our first choice for a hotel in Stratford. The cost of breakfast if you just want tea and toast. Not enough parking.
wonderful, excellent for a romantic evening- four poster bed well worth it, central to stratford
We really enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel. The decor and furniture have been chosen for ultimate comfort and cosiness and have achieved a "home from home" feeling and yet still offer luxury. Nothing springs to mind.
Great location for accessing attractions. Liked the ambiance of the hotel. Staff were obliging. Room was cramped (bathroom was not).Poorly equiped-tv did not work. No clock/radio. No pen. Most importantly- no space to put clothing- We had to live out of our suitcase.
The hotel is clean and suits the character of Stratford upon Avon. The log fires are lovely! The hotel were not helpful with the problems we experienced during our stay. The breakfast was poor quality, badly served and the staff were not helpful.
I liked the "character" of the hotel and that it had air-conditioning. The room and bath was large, the bed very comfortable, and the hotel is in a great location.
The location was superb. The junior suite was well worth the extra with a separate lounge area. Having real log fires burning made it feel warm and cozy. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy a hot drink near the fire. The hotel building is old and whilst the rooms are very clean and well decorated the plumbing is old with low water pressure and about 15 minutes before very hot water reaches you. All part of the old world charm I guess.
Very convenient for the theatres and with on-site parking (which can be a problem in Stratford) this is a comfortable and characterful hotel which is good for a short stay. The staff are pleasant and intend to be helpful; but things can go amiss. For example a room service request was overlooked and a dinner reservation got lost between the front desk and the restaurant.
The friendliness of the staff. The fact we were able to book in slightly earlier than 2pm having travelled all the way from Scotland. The hum of the air conditioning unit outside our bedroom window.
Location (very central), friendly and helpful staff, character. WiFi was very accessable Room was a bit worn. No mention was made before arrival (eg at time of booking) of £10 per night charge for use of the carpark.
Location, Food, Character Building. Being charged for car parking.
Comfortable hotel with character right in centre of town. Ideal for visiting historical houses and close to lots of restaurants.
