When we checked in at the end of our rental, we were given the quick printout that applied to another car and driver. We did not discover this until after we had gone through airport security and were waiting for our flight.

The desk clerk gave me an option of a Suburban or a Ford Expedition. He recommended the Expedition based on gas mileage and comfort. We felt it was the right choice!

Their online check-in system is badly broken; took about 20 tries before it worked, including some attempts that took 10+ minutes of wait (which failed). The vehicles reeked of cigarette smoke (if was nauseating) but I was not warned at all that the vehicle was a smoking vehicle. Again and I again I find my experience with Hertz just frustrating overall. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Never had the rental. There was no one at the counter to give me the car that I had already paid for. Hertz took my money and abandoned me.

The online rental experience was excellent.

Cons:

I was helped within 5 minutes of arrival. It took 1 1/2 hours to pick up the rental. The rental car was not at the location and they did not share this information with me. If they would have told the truth, I could have been much more understanding.

Friendly and helpful staff a Hertz location at Wichita Eisenhower National Airport.

Cons:

This car rental was similar to two other car rentals I have experienced in Wichita during the past two months. Enterprise, Avis and Hertz all promised a minivan or large suv. Enterprise cancelled on me one day before I needed the rental, telling me two renters had not returned vehicles. Avis and Hertz only had smaller capacity vehicles available. It seems there exists a bait-and-switch approach to car rentals in Wichita, Kansas.

Pros:

Yes the staff were nice.

Cons:

The car was pretty dirty and if I understood correctly it is because they wash it offsite and they didn't have a way to clean after it got dirty in the rain. There was no windshield wiper fluid which was not a good deal when I got into some snow and rain. The car drove fantastic even though it had close to 50,000 miles.

I made a reservation through your site but there were no cars when I got there. I was stranded at their office and ended up having to fly home. You should never have made the reservation if there were no guaranteed cars

I have used Avis and even had a previous high level on their loyalty program. With that said the Chevy Blazer I rented in Witchita Ks to Arlington Tx was sub par. The car was dirty and a plain basic vehicle. I won’t rent another one. On the flip side my experience with Avis team was exceptional. I will also say that my rental from Maine to Washington DC was outstanding, the car and people were great.

Cons:

Awful location for a car rental business. Tiny office/ waiting room; barest bones imaginable. First offered minivan was a Toyota Siena stripper in poor shape. Lots of dings, rubs, scratches, scrapes, even front plastic fascia was detached near the left headlight indicating some kind of contact. Worst part: vehicle didn’t have a remote key fob. Swapped for a 2018 Dodge Caravan GT. Even though vehicle was on the lot, it wasn’t rental ready. Empty bottles and trash. They quickly took it to the back to clean it up while I waited. Because the guys that man the counter are the same guys that do the garage stuff, they are woefully undermanned. Operating on a shoestring? Eventually vehicle was presented. Still had miscellaneous garbage in it. While driving it home to load up in the drizzle I discovered the rear wiper was malfunctioning; it had been twisted 180 degrees so it wiped the body below the window instead of the glass. I returned it. Did I mention the lousy location? Only one way to access their location; if you make turn down the wrong street, even with their lot in sight, there’s no way to get there because of one way strays, closed gates, etc. You have to retrace your route to start again. I had to go in into the office. A guy came out to the car with. with me. They flipped the wiper arm over. I didn’t have time to quibble. I took it as is. I got it home in the driveway to load up. Noticed front tire and rear tires were not same brand and relatively worn, and all air stems were missing their twist on caps. Oh well. During the trip I had to use wipers almost the entire time. Yep, you guessed it. Noisy chattering drove everyone crazy. On Thanksgiving Day, in a small town I found an auto parts store. Bought and installed new wiper blades on my rental. Fixed it! Good clean and silent wipers for the first time in four days. Also bought some window wipes to clean up the filthy front and rear window interiors. At least the car worked well. I’m in the process of having Avis reimbursement me for the wipers. Bottom line: Avis corporate needs to do a better job protecting their brand. The location I used was no better than “Economy Motors” not something I expected from Avis.

I searched for airport pickup. What was booked was offsite. Avis airport desk would not tell me how far it was to the offsite location so I could Uber over, they charged double the price and did not enter my Wizard number. Told me he would have to start the reservation all over.

Cons:

We registered online and received a confirmation number. Arrived at Enterprise on a Thursday only to find out that we did not have a car reserved but were placed on a waiting list, 11th in line on the list and wouldn't have a car available for us until Monday afternoon or Tues. If there are no cars available, the website should not reserve vehicles they do not have! We ended up going to a dealership and buying a car. So frustrating!!!

The staff was very helpful, and insured I had a great experience.

Cons:

That there were no hidden surprises, which there was the front driver side tire had a leak in it. During the night, it leaked, so I report told staff during drop-off and they are going to take care of it.

Cons:

The minivan was absolutely the dirtiest car I have ever rented. there were water bottles, applesauce cups, cookies, wrappers and general filth inside. I would have returned it when I got home but we leaving town right away. when I brought it to the kid at the desk at my return he had no apologies or anything to say.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
