the hotel atmoshere was great , would book again air flow in the windows room # 20 back of hotel was poor .
Location was superb. Rooms very comfortable and breakfast very good, There was an intermittent noise during the night from a generator or pump???
Staff was very friendly, food was amazing and the room was clean. We had the back room [#16] with no view, for the amount of money we paid we were very disappointed
Explored York Harbor and loved it. We had a great dinner and breakfast.
Everyone fery friendly, evening meal and breakfast were great.
Location was great. Concierge was super helpful and friendly. You can hear a generator humming/vibrating pretty audibly from our 3rd floor room.
Location overlooking York Harbor Beach and close to Kittery Shopping Outlets. Room was in a noisy part of the Inn, right next to the extractor over the kitchen. Wasn't too bad though, just hummed.
Rooms were nice and clean. I was on club level and the ice machine and people walking around were very loud. Did not feel private. Guy at the desk was very non customer service oriented. As I found with most people at that desk. Valet guy was very nice. Pay decent money you expect a little more courtesy. I do not expect to stay there again.
Good location downtown, nice staff. Pool was under construction for renovations, and we had really been eagerly awaiting this part of the trip with two little kids. No continental breakfast - only their restaurant with overpriced and far underperforming food.
Very clean, nice room, great location Fire alarm went off, girls soccer team staying near us was very loud and rude, yelling in hallway past quiet hours, the door to our room did not close all the way.
We really liked the hotel. It was a convenient location, right off 95 on our way home from Maine. Clean, comfortable, and the staff was very friendly. There was only ONE thing that bothered me and had we stayed more than one night would have driven me absolutely crazy: the floor above us. Our room was located on the bottem level of the hotel, room 125. The room directly above us has the creakiest floors which left me wide awake listening to the people above getting ready in the morning. Not a problem if they got up later or I was a deep sleeper, but the floor boards started their symphony at 5:30 am, far too early for my vacation.
They were so good to our dog. We would stay there again
The Port Inn in Portsmouth, NH is a well kept, clean place to stay. Convenient to the highway and to downtown Portsmouth with a very welcoming and friendly staff.
Great staff, great room accommodations, good location with easy access to major highways, downtown, and beach. We would stay here again on our next trip to Portsmouth. A great value for the price and a knowledgeable staff. Nothing.
The manager Steven went well above and beyond the service of any other hotel experience I've had and I travel quite frequently for work. I will certainly be back again. The breakfast is a great bonus!
We loved everything about this place! When we drove up I thought we were going into a motel from the 50's, which wasn't a good thing in my opinion - I didn't have fond memories of those rooms. However, when we opened our door we loved the room! It was just like a boutique hotel room - it was really nice. The staff was awesome! I probably wouldn't like walking to the office/breakfast room in the cold months, but in May it was perfect.
So close to everything
Directions and signage are not easily understood or noticed
Loved how clean it was, the staff was super friendly. We both got a free drink for waiting a little extra for our room, our room was spectacular. Valet staff were great too. The overall stay was awesome!!! The bed was a little uncomfortable. But that's the only complaint from us.
The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to every thing. Room was beautiful and clean. The shower felt so good after a long day on the beach in the sun. The beds were comfy but the pillows could be a little harder. The staff was amazing...always pleasant. The free breakfast was far more than we expected and was a great way of starting the day. Love the valet parking. ...very convenient. We will definitely be back next time we are in town. Kathleen Kelley September 2015 Pillows, not that I hated them...just that they need to be alittle harder....not enough neck support.
The people next door had the TV on loud all night - called front desk - they said they called the room but couldn't get hold of anyone. Moved us at 2:30 AM to another room - but next to air conditioning noise - then to another room where the traffic kept us awake all night. We were travelling from Halifax, NS to PA - driving all day and was to drive all day the next day - wasn't impressed with not getting any sleep. We usually stayed here with no complaints - too bad this happened at this time. Will look for another place next time.
We were staying in Portsmouth overnight with some friends. Great value for the price. Clean rooms & bathroom, comgortable bed. A little dated, but again, a good value for the money.
Staff was very attentive and friendly. Debris on floor. Mold on shower curtain. No drain plug for tub. Horrible pillows and breakfast
It was very clean. Coffee ran out when I came downstairs.
Beds were comfy
was not as clean as it could have been
Front desk staff very helpful with local info. Breakfast is fairly basic
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I love Robbin! He's nice, helpful and courteous. I always look forward to seeing him at the desk. Rooms are very clean, but could use some minor maintenance. My lamp shade was missing the nut that held the shade on, so it was tilted, second light in bathroom didn't work correctly, , minor things that are not always noticed.
Close to everything. Including the best liquor store in NH across the street. Air was nice and cold. Coffee was good too in the am. Wish the bed was was a queen.
Low Rates Awesome Friendly Service Comfortable Room
Clean night clerk was very helpful in suggesting places to eat
friendly staff comfortable bed difficulty regulating room temperature lack of warm blanket paltry selection of food items available for continental breakfast
Rooms were not big but they were cozy, functional and clean. The access to the beach and the views were wonderful. We were there offl season and it was quiet. Very good room for the price paid. Enjoyable and the location is the best. The ocean view entry door and large ocean view window opened on to the access balcony so other guest are walking by your door and window. Definitely opt for the $ upcharge for the 2nd or 3rd floor; otherwise you will be looking directly into parked cars. But the ocean and beach are 100 yards away and that is where we wanted to be.
I loved being able to walk the beach without crowding of people and my balcony view was relaxing as I was able to hear the waves all night. I didn't like the fact I had to clean the refrigerator top as the ice tray was stuck to it and coffee was all over the ice tray. The toilet was sprayed but not cleaned. I wanted so badly to relax and take a bath, but the tub had not been cleaned and there was a white film ring around it. I am also glad I am not allergic to mold, as above the tub area there was an abundance of black mold. These areas may seem fine for others, however, I really needed some "Time off" from having to clean. Maybe if the hotel was busy and the cleaning crew was limited on time, but this was off season and not busy at all.
I liked the location and I prefer this resort during the winter. We were given a closer room to the indoor pool which was nice. employees were very nice and the room was very nice and clean, very comfortable. Great value for the money spent on the room. There were too many kids, and they were highly unsupervised jumping around, splashing us in the hot tub and horseplay. Apparently they only have one legal bartender and she was on maternity leave so none of the staff could sell us liquor so we went for beers only. Our room lock broke and we were locked out when we returned from the pool and it was snowing. We waited for the maintenance to open it which was fast and then we had to switch rooms around 9:30pm. All together I liked our visit but it was better the first time.
Perfect weekend getaway just a short drive from Boston. The ideal place to stay if you have kids. Pools, beaches, resteraunts, you name it! We had a blast and will definitely be back!!!
Location, price noisy rooms, thin walls.. Not good for sleeping in.
It is a well restored old hotel that is beautiful inside and out, with beautiful gardens. It was very clean and we could not hear other guests. The location on the island just adds to the charm.
Cozy, well decorated room. Needed a small fridge for medication.
The pool area is beautiful and kept very clean. The food at the Restaurant, Salt was terrible.
Great location and views, Hotel was also beautiful. Front desk helpful.Room small but well appointed. Bathroom was great. I had a 80 min massage and it was fabulous! Indoor pool was also very nice. It was too cold out to use the outside pool. I did not use the restaurants but they both looked nice but pricy. This is really picky but there was dust and cobwebs in my bathroom and stains on the window blinds, normally I would never complain about this but when Im paying 369.00 a night I expect it to be Perfect.
Facilities, pool, bar/restaurant Small rooms
Will stay again in our future Maine trips. Loved the location, Everything was on route 1. The hotel is right off route 1.
The control entail breakfast was really good, and the staff were very friendly! The rooms were modern looking and very comfortable! The walls were slightly thin, but there were no disturbances to prevent from sleeping, the TV in our room didn't work but we were too tired to care
Nothing Rented out for pool parties, insanley loud, because it is so inexpensive, it brought all sorts of crowds there for hotel parties and just Not family friendly environment. Horrible stay
Cookies at night, room was clean Could hear people in room next they were up all night,i didn't sleep at all, left hotel at6am.
I would like to recognize Dimple Patel and Natalia for their exceptional service. Each encounter was so pleasant, welcoming and engaging. I travel often for work and never have I encountered such exceptional service on a consistent basis. Dimple and Natalia are what made my stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Portsmouth Downtown enjoyable, not the hotel amenities nor the look of the hotel.
Very clean and modern, friendly staff and accessable to dowtntown
I really enjoyed the food and cocktails while watching football. There was a server by the name Anca who took great care of me. The rooms where very clean and it's walking distance to everything. Parking stinks
Overall nice place No bath tub!
I thought our room smelled and felt a bit musty.
Loved being close to everything, but by far the staff at the desk, valet, and housekeeping was above and beyond super nice... I just wished I could have turned the heat down more than to 65, without turning it off. it was very hot in the room..
Very clean and a great location Valet parking was the only option
Location was fantastic....right in the heart of Portsmouth. Nothing
Unable to stay here because they had no confirmed reservation
Temporarily parked by entrance (20 minutes) while we got our room and unpacked. Valets were pleasant and professional. Hotel location was excellent and Portsmouth is very walkable. At this price, we expected a complimentary breakfast. Expensive valet only parking. We found our own parking nearby for free.
Very classy atmosphere and the location and views were just beautiful. Provide much better internet service.
Excellent atmosphere created by the typical English decoration, furnerture and very friendly service minded staff
It was a very quiet location but very close to downtown. The rooms were clean and large. The breakfast was very good. The breakfast area was too small for the amount of people there at the time. The one woman cleaning the area could not keep up with getting the tables clean and restocking the food.
Hotel staff was great - very helpful. The room was great for our family.
I enjoyed the stay, plan to come back.
Quiet setting among the trees. Free internet. Nice hot breakfast, at least on Sunday. The towels in the pool area were tiny and as rough as 60 grit sandpaper. The towels in the room were a little softer (200 grit) but still small. Not something you can change now, but design would be better if bathroom were accessible without having to go through the bedroom.
The room was spacious and clean and the staff was very friendly. Good solid value. Nothing to really complain about.
Breakfast staff had difficulty keeping up with demand. Items ran out throughout our brief visit. They made every effort when it was brought to their attention, but we had to bring things to their attention quite a bit. (The coffee is out. The fruit has run out. The waffle mix is empty. There is no syrup. The decaf is out. There is still no fruit. There are no bowls. The regular coffee is out again…)
Recently remodeled very clean , refrig. and microwave in room, very large new flat screen TV , small breakfast table and 2 chairs Only a fitted sheet and comforter on bed. not much room in bath to put toiletries. and no electrical outlet un bath
The place is so cute. The bathroom was really well-done. It was nice having a little porch to sit on and the rug on the porch was nice and soft. The beds were okay. I prefer feather pillows. The TV didn't work very well, the signal seemed to be really weak. The decor of the room was cute in some places but could have been a lot better in other areas. There was a lot of empty white space where there was microwave, that made you feel like you were somewhere very inexpensive. The breakfast was pretty bad - hard boiled eggs that were really hard to peel and plain white english muffins. There was some pound cake that they ran out of and the muffin I had was not very good. Coffee was pretty bad too.
Newly renovated - very nice breakfast - windows that open front & back - lovely grounds
Clean, comfortable room. Adequate amenities, everything worked. Fantastic breakfast! Friendly, helpful staff. Wish we could have stayed longer!!
We realy enjoyed our stay here. The staff is amazing and the room clean and confy. See you soon kittery inn and suites
The place was very clean accommodating and for a great price! The shower was a bit small and there wasn't a fan to circulate the air conditioning around, but still was cool in the room.
Location - right across the beach. Comfy, clean bedding. No internet access in room.
Room decoration, staff and where it is located The shower
On site restaurant. Small bathroom
Great location within walking distance! We came as a staycation to go out with friends we haven't seen in a long time! We had three different interactions with the staff, and all three were very disappointing. We had drinks with friends (who were also hotel guests) and asked for extra glasses, which came an hour later, and the staff member who dropped them off just had a terrible attitude. It was obvious he was unhappy about it. Came back from dinner and drinks to a very rude third shift member who told us we had a noise complaint and grilled us about who was staying in the room. We hadn't been in the room since 7pm, so I don't know how that was even possible. Then we were given a late checkout till 12:30pm and were getting ready when a very rude house keeper can to the door at 11am and told us we should have left already. We explained and she scowled and stormed off! Needless to say we will not be back.
The breakfast was great, staff was very nice, the room size was just right for us. Great location to downtown and parking garage since parking is off site. Will definitely choose this hotel again. Nothing
I was under the impression when reading online that we would be within walking distance to things but there was only a liquor store that was within walking distance. We were also put in a room that was near stairs which creaked loudly & were awaken multiple times because of this. Our room was clean but had a bad smell & there was mold on shower curtain
clean and the location to downtown the hot tub was broken
Staff hardly spoke English. The hotel smells like mold
Location Pool was not operating.Advertised a working pool and hot tub.
the vending machine hot tub/jacuzzi out of order
The carpet and some of the furniture were wet as a result of a plumbing problem, yet they still put guests in the room. It smelled moldy. Pool and hot tub were closed due to the same issues. The steak was doing their best and stayed pleasant but the accommodations were decidedly substandard.
My family enjoyed the pool and hot tub, the rooms were good and it was literally right off the highway. Very close to Maine. Free breakfast was only to 9 am.
Right off the highway, easy to find. Mice poop in the drawers. The room had a mildew/mold smell too.
Kindness friendines of breakfast staff. Very hard worker. In room clean Pool and hot tub have been broken for months!!!! Check-in staff staff stated it is on Web site but not listed. Also rug being replaced but not cleaned after day''s work.
very nice staff.good location.
No frills place to lay your head. For us, it was a halfway point to a Maine vacation week. Front desk clerk was accomodating, letting us borrow his personal information phone charger for a little bit when we'd mentioned we'd left ours at home. Pool was down and drained, which bummed my kids out because they were looking forward to a swim when we pulled into town. Our basement room felt musty.
Easy access to highway Couldn't sleep because of truck noise on 95.
The staff and service were both excellent. The free shuttle to downtown Portsmouth makes it a great location.
When the shuttle was on its regular schedule & not ferrying wedding guests who had missed their ride -- it was a nice service to downtown. Room smelled like cats, AC was musty & dank. Outrageous price for a room with absolutely no amenities. Are q-tips really too much to ask?
Pool and hot tub. I wish there were more selections on room service menu. Also a couple of lights in room were broken and clock was wrong time.
We were up in York for a wedding and since I (the husband) was in the wedding my wife and I and our young child grabbed an affordable rate with The Best Western. The room was huge and clean and comfortable. The pool was nice, breakfast was okay but better than most complimentary ones. The distance to the shore was short and easy and direct - same for the highway. The staff cleaning the rooms seemed confused that we had a do not disturb sign on the door. When we're staying somewhere for only a few days we keep it up and just ask for clean towels - he seemed baffled by this but we also don't trash our room - single pile of towels and all trashed gathered up. The indoor pool was a bit murky too - but again - nothing to cry over.
Room was basic but all you need, both room and bathroom very clean. Hotel was quiet but probably more a function of the particular guests that night. Breakfast was slightly better than standard continental: hot eggs snd sausage, make your own pancakes, yogurt, oatmeal, etc.
Convenient to 95. Decent value. Seemed like bathroom was recently renovated. Small refrigerator in room No elevator to second floor. Pool dreary. Toilet was not bolted securely to the bathroom floor.
