First nonstop flight to Germany - I had 2 seats and could stretch, that was great.
There's only 4 free movies to watch (2 of them for kids) - the rest was 8 euros per film! Ridiculous !! My carry on (the same bag I used for years) was too big for their standards and had to be checked. They did this for free but only the first flight. When I return, they said it would cost me ...?
The airplane itself was nice. Comfortable. Plane wasn't full so everyone had plenty of room.
Food was terrible. People kept saying they were hungry. Entertainment was also terrible. Not much was available to watch and I've never had to pay for headphones until this flight. The crew was arguing amongst themselves the whole time. 2 blonde women, flight attendants, argued throughout the flight.
Drinks trolley too slow, considering passengers on most European flights are paying for their drinks. Quick drinks trolley with the food trolley coming along behind would be much better, and a lot more happy passengers, One and a half hours, approx., from take-off when the food and drinks trolley, from the front, reached Row 10. Not good Willie!
You should board by seat numbers on European flights. Aisles too narrow on 320's (and equivalent), with passengers putting quite large carry-on luggage in the overhead lockers and slowing everything down plus discomfort to passengers already seated.
Otherwise a very pleasant an enjoyable flight. when the doors closed.
I wish it truly were Finnair instead of American: The seat, the legroom, the fact that you have to pay 20% more to have the same rotten seat 12 rows further up front, the food that's barely fit for human consumption, the presence of 20 year old cathode screens that can't be watched but do prevent the cabin being dark, etc.
Old fashioned seat, no usb to charge my phone, battery went ;off and couldn't make a call to my family to assure them of a half way safe trip while stopping over for almost 6 hours in Ataturk Intl. Airport, Turkey.
Entertainment system doesn't have a touch screen like other airlines. They give you ear but buds instead of head phones. Alright they gave us headphones for our young son you had to put the foam covers on yourself and they kept coming off. Not a very good selection of movies. Good is bland and not very good options.
clean. Seat covers nice and clean. furniture color scheme pleasant.
1. Seat distance by far too less.
2. seat width on the borderline of being acceptable.
3.. No entertainment, not even a flight info screen available.
4. Only instant coffee available. If it is instant, cappuccino or other café specialities should be available. Emirates and Etihad make the example.
5. Food okay - but not for french airline. No innovation, no thought in it. Standard "how do I get the cattle fed the cheapest possible" food.
6. Electrical / USB / Network plugs or WIFI unknown.
9:40pm flight was 1 1/2 hours late caused us to miss connection in frankfurt to florence - flight attendants reassured passengers that all connections would be re-booked before we landed and info would be at gate when we arrived-we got to frankfurt & there was no info at all about connections-we went to original gate & by the time we got there the gates in that terminal were all closed down & no employees - finally found a rebooking desk & next flight was not for 5 hours-return trip was even worse 18 hour delay & bused to hotel
Paying for a reserved seat after buying tickets on condor is ridiculous. Captain on both flights talked too much ... I don't need to know about the last weeks weather or how nice the arrival city is... you are just getting in the way if my movie
I booked this flight with some skepticism about this airline as I'd never heard of Condor/Thomas Cook, but decided to roll the dice as it was one of only 2 daily direct flights to Europe from Austin, TX.
The first indication things weren't going well was during check-in: I was safely there more than 2 hrs ahead of the flight's scheduled departure and the line was nearly out the door. Not enough agents, or not fast enough.
Then the worst part: we left over an hour after scheduled departure. The main reason we were late, (and ended up missing our connection in Frankfurt), was penny pinching cheapness at every turn. General boarding, (they don't have any groups besides, 'special needs', 'those with infants/small children' and 'first class passengers'), wasn't even called until 1/2 hr after the scheduled departure. We left over a full hour late from Austin and they didn't make up much time in the air.
One thing this airline clearly does, to bring the customer low fares, is cut corners at every chance. That seeemd to include using the required extra fuel to pick up the speed and make up the time from their late departure. Another annoying thing they did to save money was avoid gate fees by parking the plane way out in the middle of nowhere and bussing all the passengers like cattle to every flight. In Austin, this option wasn't available to them, hence their late departure - likely caused by the fact that they couldn't be at the gate when they needed to be, because it had just been in use or there wasn't a ramp available - I don't know, but I'd bet it had to do with trying to save airport fees. I do know that in Frankfurt it felt like they bussed us halfway to Munich to board the airplane, (a 2-3-2 seating setup, btw. I don't remember the equipment).
All this ineptitude and trying to save a nickel ended up causing me and my group to miss our connection in Frankfurt. We were traveling on business and it was crucial we made our connection to be on time to our final destination. If you have anything important to do when you arrive at the end of your trip, if you're traveling with this Thomas Cook brand, Condor, make sure you depart a day earlier than you think you need to depart. In my experience, they won't get you there on time.
This brings me to their partner airlines, who were legit, real airlines, but didn't have anything to do with Condor/Thomas Cook, and therefore were not there to be helpful at any level beside the basic service they needed to provide a passenger who they viewed as missing their flight. I saw no Condor presence at the Frankfort airport. I doubt they have help/service desks in all the airports they serve. Lufthansa on the way there and SAS on the way back, were their partner airlines.
Being late wasn't an option for me and my associates, but neither was traveling the day before to give an extra-extra day ahead to be safe. In my experience, don't count on this airline.
we were stranded in aberdeen due to flooding and were to miss our connection to vietnam. we were expecting the worst when we called BA but the service representative could not have been more helpful or efficient. she had us booked in the next couple of days all the way to our door. she was positive and we could tell she really cared about our plight.
It was part of our hop from the United States to Malaga.
I fly Southwest Airlines in the US frequently, but this plane felt FAR more packed in than those do. Without a free drink or snack, my 3 hours on this plane were miserable. We were flying at night, and they kept EVERY light in the cabin on for the duration. I don't know why they needed so much illumination to push a cart up and down the aisle for the few people willing to pay for beverages.
