Pros: Nothing

Cons: Spirit Airlines is awful

ORD
MCO
Okay 5.5

Pros: The flight attendants were very friendly and the pilot did a great job. There were bad storms in Orlando but you wouldn't know it with the flight. All Spirit flights I have taken have had good pilots and friendly flight attendants.

Cons: When I arrived at Chicago-O'Hare to check in, there was a line around the block for only Spirit Airlines. They had 2 people working at the kiosks and both were slower than molasses. There were several employees that walked up to the kiosks but none of them assisted customers. They had no urgency at all. On top of that, the lady that I interacted with was very rude. She talked to me like I was a complete moron and apologized that another Spirit team in Orlando "didn't do their job properly but O'Hare employees follow the rules". Overall, not impressed at all and I will avoid booking with Spirit on future flights.

Pros: The price was low. When the flight was cancelled, refund went smoothly.

Cons: After waiting several hours, flight was cancelled because they were short 2 crew members. A special flight was added but not till 2 pm the next day. We were only offered lodging if we took that flight. That was too late for us. They did offer meal vouchers but by that time, the airport restaurants were closed.

Pros: Boarding wasn't a problem. The flight crew was okay.

Cons: Given that plane tickets are cheap, there are additional fees which hikes the price. You'll be better off paying for a flight through a different carrier because it'll come out to the same price.

ORD
MCO
Mediocre 2.0

Pros: Nothing

Cons: All the the hidden fees from the baggage to seat selection. No snacks or drinks were provided unless bought individually and the cost for the flight wasn't any cheaper than our flight up on United, which included everything at no additional charge. The customer service was awful and though we arrived at the airport over an hour and a half early, we almost missed our flight because checking in a bag was chaos (despite having checked in online the day before). There were no forms of entertainment on the flight, not even airline magazines, which made for a very tedious 2.5 hour flight in less than relaxing seats.

ORD
MCO
Mediocre 2.0

Cons: Because of Hurricane Matthew and the forecast that it might return to Orlando, FL, my family cancelled our vacation to Disney World, as we didn't want to risk being stuck during a hurricane. When I called to see if I could get a credit for the flight, so I could fly later, I was told NO. I was given the option of rebooking the flight by the end of October or I would loose the cost of the ticket or have to pay a $100 change fee. Frontier refused to waive the fee and I couldn't rebook by October because I am a college student and won't be on break and off work again for a few months. No care for a customer under an extreme weather situation. Buyer beware...a cheap ticket is no consolation when you loose your money. I will avoid flying with them. LOST CUSTOMER!!!

Pros: I admit that paying for carry-on bags, and paying extra for an assigned seat was irritating, but it still cost considerably less than any other airline. The plane was clean and looked new; the crew friendly and helpful.

Cons: Nothing. I knew upfront that this was a "no frills" airline and did not expect all the niceties.

Pros: With a little research about how Spirit can charge such affordable rates, i was able to prepare for my flight without all the "unexpected" fees, leaving no surprises or discomfort. I was able to bring my own water, snack, and in flight movie which made the flight very enjoyable. The flight crew on both flights were very helpful, professional, and even entertaining. My ratings for food and entertainment were poor simply because they didn't offer them.

Cons: I would have enjoyed more space on the plane. I am a 5'10" female, and my knees hit the chair in front of me. And I was lucky to have friendly neighbors sitting next to me because our shoulders/arms were touching for the majority of the flight. Forget about using the arm rests available.

Cons: Bought a bigger seat upon check in but when I went to sit in it they told me it was bought by a gentlemen already. Because I couldn’t provide a receipt I had to be moved. Pros: Friendly and helpful staff in the terminal and on board.

Cons: $52 to check a bag, seriously?! No frills seating - couldn't recline, need to pay extra for that feature I guess? The person behind me, continually drove his knees into the back of my seat, due to lack of leg room. Couldn't depart due to a broken tray table. Had to wait for maintenance to arrive to repair it. Lastly, we were informed the flight pattern changed and we'd have to wait for more fuel. 1 hr delay due to the tray table repair and ill preparedness of the mechanical staff.

Good 7.0

Pros: Staff and crew were polite, friendly and competent in spite of a significant overbooking situation to solve (unless this is typical Spirit and they're just used to it)

Cons: We chose not to "purchase" seats so as to keep the flight price low. What I did not realize in that is how close we came to almost not having a seat. About an hour before the flight came the inevitable "we are overbooked and will compensate for anyone who wants to take a different flight". Shortly afterward came the announcement that the plane they were expecting was significantly smaller than anticipated and the last 30 people to check in who did not purchase a seat would be bumped - too bad so sad. Fortunately for us we had checked in right at the 24 hour mark and were not part of that group of 30. Bag fees are quite high and size limitations are much more stringent - we needed to use different suitcases so as to not exceed their maximums.

Okay 5.6

Pros: Great prices and way better flight experience than I was expecting after reading other reviews. Seats don't recline but are still comfortable.

Cons: Flight was delayed and no updates were given. Upon arrival, our checked bags took an hour to get to the carousel. Again, no updates at all.

Excellent 8.5

Pros: The crew, all female, were always polite and pleasant. The seats were sufficiently comfortable for the short trip to New York.

Cons: A wider aisle would have been significant. Consideration for long-legged travelers would always be appreciated!

Excellent 10.0

Pros: I admit that paying for carry-on bags, and paying extra for an assigned seat was irritating, but it still cost considerably less than any other airline. The plane was clean and looked new; the crew friendly and helpful.

Cons: Nothing. I knew upfront that this was a "no frills" airline and did not expect all the niceties.

Pros: Crew was nice.

Cons: How much do United Engineers get paid? They can’t figure out how to make the last row recline? And why was this particular flight not able to let me select a seat?

Prices are per person and are for e–tickets and include all taxes & fees in USD.

We attempt to get accurate prices, however, prices are not guaranteed.

Here's why:

We’re not the seller.
At KAYAK we don’t set the prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.

We compile tonnes of data for you
Our service lets you quickly and easily compare results from hundreds of travel sites at once. In this sense, KAYAK is a search engine and we can't guarantee prices we find.

Why aren’t prices accurate 100% of the time?
Prices on airline seats, hotel rooms and car rentals can change frequently. Several people may also be trying to buy the same travel option simultaneously. As a result, you may find, on occasion, that certain prices are no longer available.

If you have more questions or if you have a bad price to report to us,
please send us an and someone from our team will get back to you promptly.
