I had to put my bag in a further bin because there was no room in the one next to my seat and when I returned to my seat, the man was still there. I told an attendant, but the man only gave me the number of HIS seat and told me it was the same. I told him it was NOT the same. I assumed he wanted to sit next to a friend, so I just let it go and the flight attendant just kind of drifted away. I also didn't want to be the one getting tackled by an Air Marshall for causing a fuss. Turns out, that man didn't even know the person he was sitting next to. I suspect he just wanted to get out of the plane sooner. Either way, this shouldn't be allowed to happen - what's the point of choosing your seats if someone else can just take it from you?"

The plane was rebooted multiple times, making it even warmer as the air was shut off with the plane. We waited on board at the gate for over an hour to be told we would deplane and reboard a new plane. All in I experienced a 3.5 hour delay on a late night flight. The second plane was much more comfortable, but didn’t make up for the long delays"

The gate agent immediately put me on standby for the next flight and notified me that there was a good chance I could get on that flight."

There was not any space to recline the seats so my back was upright and it was difficult to be in a comfortable position. I have been in worse seats with other airlines, so the seats on this plane were not terrible, but travelers would benefit from an ability to recline, even slightly, and an adjustable neck padding."

WORST part was that the temperature in the seating area at the gate was horribly cold. Departing passengers at a neighboring gate were bound for Fargo and sat with their parkas on and with parka hoods up. We Houston-bound had packed our coats & boots and were shivering. Then when we finally boarded the crew announced that the plane's water system was broken and so we would have no hot coffee or hot tea or hot anything. No water, also and obviously, in the restroom sink. But sani-wipes were provided in the sink basin."

Cons: "I upgraded to 1st class for both flights but the plane seating was very dismal and hadn't been upgraded in either of these planes for a long time. After we boarded the plane we were told that no drink, snacks or food would be offered. The attendant shut off the lights as soon as we got in the air and kept it dark in the cabin until 10 minutes before we landed. She never came around to check on us once or ask if we needed anything. I was so thirsty when we landed. I have decided that I will either go back to United Airlines or check out the 1st class options at American Airlines better next time. This might not have been their fault, I'm not sure what it was, but the flight was late landing and we took off an hour late as well which really put me behind schedule."

Yet, they 1st said we would board a little late because og clearing out the previous flight. And, no one could get carry-ons above their own seats and had to go back to then come forward. The attendants should monitor better what is brought onboard. I thought they were rude. And it took almost an hr to get our luggage at the carosel."

So I quickly say we do not need 3 people to tell us 1 thing and especially yelling at us like we were kids or criminals because it felt like we must have broke the law the way they treated us! That experience was horrible and ruined my liking for AA"

Cons: "Flight into DFW was delayed over an hour and ended up missing connection from DFW to SMF by less than 10 minutes because connecting flight left the gate early! We had 5 people in our group, including 3 children under the age of 10. Instead of taking off on time or just a couple minutes late (and oh by the way, the flight to SMF was scheduled to land early because of favorable winds) the flight left the gate early while we were sprinting from gate C31 to A17, missing the door closing by minutes and stranding our party for a three hour wait for an aircraft that went to SFO instead (75 miles away from Sacramento). As the coup de gras, our luggage didn't make it on the plane to SFO so now it's sitting in Sacramento awaiting delivery. I know there were a lot of upset people with the weather delays yesterday, but a bit of foresight or accommodation by American or a particularly savvy gate agent could have prevented the 5 of us from being among them."

The guy to my left was KNITTING, so was constantly jogging my arm which I carefully had kept inside the armrest on my side. I will avoid flying in a BA 747 in future. Even Business is awful on those jets. I flew in Business once, and thought the head to tail layout was the worst I have experienced. I pulled down the joint divider and thought the person in the next bed was dead, he was lying there with his arms crossed over his chest! It's time to update the 747's or retire them."

Cons: "When I booked my flight, I used Kayac like I always have in the past. To begin with, I selected several flights that were listed, only to have it tell me that this flight is no longer offered, which I assume is engineered to get me to select a more expensive flight. Once I finally found a flight that was still available, I selected it and began the process of providing information and selecting seat assignments. On 2 of the 4 legs of the round trip, there were no more seats available except for upgrade seats, which resulted in an extra $100.00+ in charges. Then when I finished the transaction, I noticed an extra $200.00 charge added. End result was that I ended up paying over double what I would normally pay for this same round trip that I have made many many times. I feel, no I know, that some customer relations person will look at this comment and reply with a pre-generated response apologizing and hoping I have a better experience in the future and thank me for using Kayac. Big companies like yours look at one customer as no big deal. I'm a Physician and have the ability to reach out to multitudes. I'm going to make it my mission in life to reach out to as many people as I can through word of mouth, signs in my office, Internet and social media to let them know about the deplorable practices of your company."

Instead of my 38 minute flight to Houston IAH from DFW I spent an hour on my way to Baton Rouge, LA. from there- I was transferred to a different airline w/ a half air layover and spent another hour on my way to Houston. Then I had to find my luggage which was not sent on the flights w/ me. But on the next flight from DFW to Houston. Which arrived before I made it to Houston. Each plane I was on was smaller than the last. And the second plane sounded as though it was about to fall apart. I never received any explanation as to why my original flight was canceled. Nobody offered any vouchers or compensation for the immense inconvenience. I will never fly American /American Eagle again."

O This plane sucks: our knees were slammed into the seat in front of us because the chairs are so close together. No USB plugs. Plane was dirty, scuff marks on the wall and ceiling. Multiple people around me were also asking around if the chairs recline. I have a mild back injury and sitting up at 90 degrees the entire way was very uncomfortable."

My check in apparently failed and didn't show on their part that we paid and reserved our flight. If it wasn't for my wife getting frustrated and a little wild we would have missed our flight. The rude lady directed me out of line to use the kiosk again instead checking me in, so I couldn't miss my flight. You could obviously tell it was my first time. So I missed my FIRST flight for my 30th birthday. Their only rebuttal to my dilemma was "you should have show up 2 hours early". A horrible experience I will never forget. The human that don't display common courtesy for his or her fellow man should be replaced by robots. I would gladly pay double for my next flight than to EVER use Spirit again."

They do not accept cash, WHICH IS CRAZY TO ME BECAUSE THAT IS LEGAL TENDER..... So I buy this thing, because they told me I had to pay for my bag since I couldn't consolidate my PURSE into my mini travel bag it would be considered two and that was the rules... so an EXTRA $50 there and $50 on my return flight.... they got me for an extra $100. WHO are the people taking no bag flights? Whatever, anyways it was a less than desirable experience. The plane smelled like a used toilet and the flight attendants were rude. They don't seem happy to be doing their job. I was going to celebrate my birthday and this made it a less than desirable experience. I'd only recommend this airline for emergency flying only. They don't even offer beverage, and it's ridic over priced. Hopefully someone will read this and reach out to me. This doesnt' reflect my experience for opinion of Kayak. Always great. But I'll never take spirit again, it is NOT worth the low fair."

No explanation of delay, which then led to a full cancellation, in which they then had us waiting in a line for 20 minutes until they (finally?) ejected us out of the security zone because they put our bags at baggage claim, so I wasn't able to buy a flight at a desk from another airlines right nearby because I had to go back through security so they messed up my timing entirely. I have also not received my refund for my baggage / seat extras and it's been a full week. Horrendous. If I could give them negative ratings I would."

Intel from the airport says they are always having problems. Say they constantly cancel flights and that they come up with different excuses as to why. This time was the storm which had already passed and had not affected many of the destinations people were flying in or out of."

If the pilots keep this up they won't have airline to work for. Also didn't like that you pay for ANY luggage (even one carry on bag). By the time you pay for the add on fees your right back at the same price as other airlines. Then you add the time delays on, and your losing out. Won't be flying this airline again."

I'm a 49 yr old woman that flies often and this was by far the worst flight/airline experience that I've ever had. We ripped off the wheels and handles in front of them and they still harassed us over a sixteenth of a inch piece of plastic that made it slightly too wide to fit into their frame/mold...1/16th of an inch! Rediculous!! We will never fly them again! Be warned!"

When boarding, 3 people had the same seat, one of the crew members solved the problem because luckily the flight was not a 100% full. 0 entertainment for the 6 hours flight (it was the same plane from FLL to Houston and San Diego) so I had to try and sleep (which was impossible). When I felt thirsty and wanted a cup of water, they told me it was a $3 dollar charge per bottle, I've never been denied water in my whole life, I found it nonsence. Overall, I would never fly Spirit again."

We were then told that they had another pilot coming but it's going to be 2 hours. I was delayed 4 hours not beacuse of weather or plain issue but beacuse the airline could not keep there schedules in order. How did they not know a pilot was not going to show. How annoying it was to load on a plane to be pulled off again and loaded on again. Worst flight I have ever had and after all that they did not provide a complementary drink or even offer to refund my bag check beacuse of the huge mistake on thee behalf."

Cons: "seemingly all the rows of seating are too short. i'm only 5-11 tall and my knees were constantly against the seat in front of me. i sat in the middle seat on row 22. the lade next to me sat on the isle and even her knees were hitting and was uncomfortable. at one point the person in front of her leaned his seat back and it was all completely in her space, make her extremely uncomfortable. we had to ask flight attendant to ask the man to put his seat up some to give her some more room and comfort."

Once I finally reached the attendant she told me that I was late in checking in. Apparently, the system does not allow you to check-in less then 45 minutes before departure and I was one minute shy of that. The then proceeded to tell me that I could not get on the flight despite having time to make it and would be charged a $100 rebooking fee. I was livid. I had to wait over six hours for no reason. My seat was empty when the plane took off. There was no reason to keep me off the flight."

Cons: "Where to start... I understand the concept of a base fee and you pay a la carte for everything else but this only really works for a single person traveling with a small personal item ONLY. You are literally charged for EVERYTHING. Which is mostly stated on their website with the exception of the checked bag and carry on fees of $50 and $55, respectively. Those fees can vary depending on who you ask....And even though they say you can save by using the kiosk ($20 to go to the counter), we ended up going to the counter anyway because the kiosk could not complete our transaction!!! On our return, we had to go through customs which requires you to get your checked bag (decided to save the $5 and check it on the way home), go through customs and then drop off your checked bag to continue your flight. Well, the Spirit representative decided it would be a great time to take a break and be completely MIA from their post. We had to go completely out of the terminal and back to a counter to recheck our bag. Resulting in a very close call on not making our connecting flight. The long and short of it all: We "Saved" $100.00 total on the initial ticket purchase. We paid over $220.00 ADDITIONAL to have our one carry on and sit next to each other ($20.00 each seat, each leg of trip). Never flying Spirit again and have been telling everyone not to. Bad Spirit!"

Cons: "Baggage restrictions and fees are absurd. Standard carry-ons are charged for (you can bring your one 'personal item' free of charge if it's small enough). A single checked bag is $51. Most carriers offer your first checked bag for free. Add $50 to your fare for a bag and see how competitive Spirit really is. No complimentary snacks or beverages---a soft drink is $3. Seats are very tight, unless you pay for an upgrade. Need to fly fast and don't need luggage, or expect basics like nuts and a cup of soda, then Spirit may be a cheaper carrier. Add the 'ala carte' items-like luggage-and the fare becomes average."

Cons: "The flight was delayed 2 hours and they did not communicate this information very well. I was told to go to gate L7 and waited and waited without any information. Then they told us to go to gate L1 and then to go to gate L11 - it was very disorganized . The employees were not helpful and they seemed annoyed at all the questions. It was very crowded in the terminal and they kept telling us to move back to let other passengers off the plane but there was no where to go. All in all it was not a good experience to fly with Spirit."

The price for one piece of checked luggage on Spiritair.com went from $26 a week before the trip,$42 the day before the trip, and then $56 the day of the trip. Not to mention feeling bad for the customers who did not use the kiosk to print their boarding to passes to either have pay the $10 fee at the counter for a boarding pass or go to the Kiosk print out a boarding pass for free then to turnaround and have to rejoin the check-in line all over again if they have to do a baggage drop."

Pros: "The lady working at the gate 17 checkin for the flight from TPA to IAH was excellent!"
Cons: "I arrived to checkin in my bag early so I could relax in the airport only to be created with a sign stating that no one would be available to assist me until 4 PM which was two hours later? I then proceeded to pay by the kiosk to check my bag to be safe but then was unable to leave it. I then had to still carry the bag around only to return and be at the back of an extremely long line of people waiting. I finally get through then proceeded to my gate 17 to checkin. Once one the plane I noticed several people with bags the size of mine as carry on which meant I just wasted $52. I was extremely disgusted because I could have possibly had this issue resolved and saved my hard earned money if someone was at the baggage checkin desk."

And if you can't have a beer before you board, why are their bars in the airport??? Spirt so"

No one at destination again after the flight, agaiin I had to wait for help to get to baggage claim, 100% rated disabled veteran, no spirit of help provided from the staff. I informed boarding argent I would need extra time at boarding, time between asking for disabled patrons and phase 1 boarding was 3 seconds, again no help on this issue, plane was late on the turn so it wast just get then in so we can leave the gate."

Cons: "The crew on my first flight were very accommodating and friendly, but on my second flight they were NOT so friendly and everyone around me was talking about how rude and unfriendly they were. This was my first time flying on Spirit and I asked for a pillow and the response I received from the Flight Attendant was "What!....we don't have pillows" Another reason I was unhappy was because on my connecting flight from Texas to Chicago we were delayed on the plane and NOBODY told us what the problem was and why we were not moving to the runway. After 42 minutes we were told "we are waiting for paperwork from Maintenance" that is it! Not how long they expect the wait to be or come around and offer us some drinks or snacks. The Flight Attendants DID NOT even walk the aisle....not even once! We finally took off after 75 minute delay. It was if we were on the plane alone...this is not how I would have handled the situation. I also obtained the Spirit credit card to rack up some miles, but not I am giving it a second thought!"

Pros: "The woman at the airport desk was wonderful and very helpful. She took off 10 dollars from each bag because she said she could see that we tried to login. She put notes in the record and said we could possibly get more refunded but I have not heard from anyone about it. Now I get to call and be on hold for ever. She also informed us that the flight confirmation number we had was a kayak, not spirit number???????? There was no indication about this. Also boarding was very efficient."
Cons: "When I purchased the ticket from Kayak I was not informed about the need to purchase a seat or bags or given the opportunity to do so. There was no notification that one could not have a personal item and a small bag -- only one. When I tried to get my boarding pass on line, I was unable to do so. At that time I learned about the baggage policy. The system had me in a loop that I could not get out of. I was not allowed to request an account so I concluded that I might have gotten one when I logged in. I tried to sign in repeatedly and asked for a new password because it kept saying it was wrong. I never got it and I had to leave for the airport or risk missing the flight. So, I was charged $40 per bag (two of us were flying) for both the outbound and return trips. That is roughly twice what I would have been charged if I had been informed and had been given the chance to buy the bags when I bought the ticket. It would have been much cheaper to buy a ticket on another carrier once I paid 160 for two small (what would easily fit in overhead). I had a carry on (personal item) so had to pay. Our flight was delayed and the gate was moved several times. We were not kept informed about the weather conditions, the fact that the plane was on the ground, or what time the flight was supposed to arrive after all the delays. The flight crew was too busy visiting with each other to deal with a problem in the seat next to me -- I kept trying to get their attention. A tall man kept his feet in the aisle and, most importantly, he was talking loudly on his cell phone until the plane was barreling down the runway to take off. They had told us to put electronics in flight mode way before that. He just kept talking. I tried to get the crews attention but no problem."

Cons: "Do not understand their business model. Spoke to numerous people coming and going and everyone was upset about something. All of the hidden costs were the most mentioned along with frequent flight delays. Never fly Spirit with a connection! But it all trickles down. Because their luggage size and weight standards are less than the industry standards [Scam] and the attending charges check in is at a snails pace. Took us 30 minutes to check in with no line because one person was unpacking their bag to get under weight charge. Also since they are dealing with irritable and angry customers all day long the employees attitudes are terrible. The most common remark I heard, and I concur, was I will never fly this airline again. This is the part that leads to my confusion of the overall business model. At some point you run out of first time customers."

Cons: "Seats don't recline and are close to each other. I didn't have much leg room, and I have short legs. The food was the standard fare -- soda pop, chips, etc. but you have to pay for it and they only take credit cards. That brings up my biggest dislike for Spirit: charging for everything. The ticket was lower priced than any of the other airlines I could find. The reason why is that they charge for everything. Carry on bags are $45 if you check in online, and $55 at the airport (that's each way.) Checked bags cost money. Want to pick your seat? That will cost you. Want a drink and snack on your 3 hour flight? Give us money. In the end, it actually would have been cheaper to fly on another airline that offers free carry on baggage and complimentary snacks. Then there's the check in procedure. I tried to check in online. Got my seats picked out, 1 carry on, things were good. I even opted to rent a car through them because they offered a rental at a really cheap rate (but the taxes and fees were twice the cost of renting the car, which they don't tell you up front.) Got to the point where you print your boarding pass and got a message saying "something went wrong (gee it's so hard being popular.)" Too many people using their website at once. The message said to print out the message and take it to the counter to avoid being charged a fee at the airport. OK. Went to the airport to finish checking in, showed the print out to the person working there, and was told to use a self-check in kiosk. I went to the kiosk, and found I had to start over. Picked out my seats (different ones than the one I had picked before,) claimed one carry on at a higher price, and called the Spirit employee over. She said that because it didn't work online, I had to pay the higher fee. Total BS! I won't fly Spirit again, that's for sure."

Pros: "Staff were very pleasant."
Cons: "My issue is with the purchase of my flight and the failure of your website to make the need or lack of need to purchase additional items. I purchased through orbitz and was not allowed at that time to advise of my need for wheelchair assistance or pick a seat. I got on your website and ended up purchasing an aisle seat to accomodate my disabilty and paid to bring on a carry on bag. The bill indicated i was charged twice so i had to call when i was informed i did not have to pay for a seat and i did have to pay for tge caary on. I could not figure out your system and most likely will not fly on your plane again because of that fact. I paid an extra 45 to accomodate a disability which is unsettling but more a problem when you cannot figure out the additioal charges until it is too late to cancel them. Then, on a plane that was not full, they gave my seat to another passenger which t ook quige sometime to fix"
