Cons: "No 6 hours delay!!!"
Pros: "Crew did a great job."
Cons: "Seats don’t decline at all and are not comfortable at all."
Cons: "At arrivals there was nobody dispatching the luggage, more than an hour to get it"
Cons: "Upon arrival at Orlando , there was no one dispatching luggage to the carrousell. More than 3 flights from Frontier and about 300 passengers waited longer than an hour to retrieve it. Nobody from the airline was present."
Cons: "Seats were very uncomfortable"
Pros: "We didn’t crash, so that’s a plus."
Cons: "Plane was delayed nearly two hours; supposed to take off at 12:15, and we didn’t leave until 2am. We were never given a reason. And the flight attendant working the front of the plane had a really poor attitude and treated all the passengers to a whole lot of sarcasm. Thanks, Frontier."
Pros: "The plane was quiet and dark."
Cons: "Crowded, claustrophobic. Seats don’t recline. Not that great of service. They didn’t ask if you wanted anything to drink or eat. Also no tv or charger or WiFi. For an anxious flyer, it couldn’t get much worse."
Cons: "The fact that my checked baggage is confusing when they charged me it was only for one way. I was billed and then noticed it was only one way, so I had to re enter my credit card info twice. Seems to me they should assume I will be bringing back my suitcase and contents rather than that I would be leaving it."
Pros: "Got it over with asap"
Cons: "Fee for checking in luggage is bull, almost left my luggage at home because of th cost."
Pros: "the announcer actually gave himself a personality and sense of humor rather than just giving the normal speeches"
Cons: "give a free snack or free beverage that isn't water or something"
Pros: "You made a huge mistake by purchasing horrible seats and then trying to cram people tighter for profit ... I try not to fly Frontier anymore ."
Cons: "The direct flights"
Cons: "I didnt even got on this flight i had to buy a different flight because i got cut off when i tried to checked in and no one really helped so i will never fly frontier again"
Cons: "Held up an entire plane for an extra hour to accommodate 6 passengers running late. Instead of holding up an entire plane maybe make 6 people wait."
Pros: "The crew were nice but not exceptional (they were likely frustrated with the delays as much as the customers were). Although it had nothing to do with Frontier itself, we traded with another couple because there was a single empty seat in their row which allowed our lap child to have his own seat to sleep in on the flight."
Cons: "The entire experience was awful. We bought these tickets because they were about $40 cheaper than competitors. However, we were nickel-and-dimed to death. I will never fly frontier again. Just getting seats together on a single flight combined with baggage costs (we had two bags that were carry on size but checked they because the carry-on luggage cost is so insane) we should have gone with another carrier. Despite arriving seriously late Denver they still kicked everyone off and conducted a security check for over an hour. Once again there was only a single attendant and boarding took FOREVER. They didn't even have wifi on the plane so my kid could watch something on Netflix."
Pros: "Flight crew was very pleasant and apologetic."
Cons: "Flight was delayed 45 min due to late arrival of plane and crew swap then was delayed an additional 1.5 hrs while we waited for connecting flights. upon arrival there was no gate available so we sat on the taxiway for more than 30 minutes ...and then the typical 1+ hour wait for Frontier to unload baggage just topped it off perfectly.... and I thought that the ridiculous wait time for baggage was unique to Denver but of course I was wrong. But I also now understand why carry on costs more than shipping bags :-( Oh ! did I forget to mention the plane is a mess? Gum stuck on the edge of the tray on both flights. Yes the edge in full view not hidden where the cleaning crew would have to struggle to find it."
Cons: "No info given on ground for delayed Flt. Said "on time" departure and it was already past departure time and hadn't boarded yet. Waited 45 minutes at gate, no announcement. Preceded to runway, de-iced, no announcement. ( my seat mate , southerner hadn't known what was happening). Servive and attitude was definitely a 1 and pilots were first off plane. This was on top of our Orlando to Denver flight that was delayed 8 hours with no weather related cause. We had to rebook on another airline. Frontier said, every flight is only a 50% chance of on time departure!!!! Way too much for 79 year olds. We are an airline family so recognize the "care less" attitude. Never Frontier again."
Cons: "Denver did not have TSA Precheck and Orlando took 45 min to send checked luggage to baggage claim."
Pros: "The flight captain was the only friendly crew member we encountered. His positive attitude made just the slightest improvement to the trip."
Cons: "Staff at the gate desk did not communicate delays and gate changes with the passengers. All departments (aircraft mainence, flight crew, baggage crew) were rude and obviously disorganized."
Pros: "(1) Waited almost two hours for checked bags at the Denver airport. (2) They double charged me for carry on on the return flight ( I had to call and wait on hold for 45 minutes to get a refund after the trip). (3) my friend had to take a train back to Iowa after boarding return flight to Iowa because flight was cancelled due to no pilots available (4) my return flight to Orlando was delayed 2-3 hrs so my arrival ended up being 3:30AM. Weather impacted but larger airlines would have adjusted better. Horrible all the way around and I rarely complain about travel or service in general."
Cons: "seat comfort is non existent, no reclining, tray tables are a joke and it feels like riding on a city bus. No food or drink, except water is free. Soda can is $2.99 each."
Pros: "The planes were really nice and new but no frills (no wi-fi, very small tray table, etc.). All flight were on time with no delays. Friendly crew."
Cons: "Checking my bag in Orlando took a full hour then when I got to Denver it took over an hour to get my bag at baggage claim. The bags didn't even start coming out for an hour. After paying $30 each way to check my bag, the experience was a complete cluster and added 2.5 hours to my travel time. Also, not sure this airline is actually cheaper when you add in seat selection (for any seat) and carry-on bag charges so buyers beware."
Cons: "a midnight flight did not depart Denver until 7am the next day. no real reason for the FIRST delay; then an unapproved pilot (announced AFTER we had been cleared to board); then no flight crew. I felt sorry for the gate agents. I will not fly Frontier again"
Pros: "Nice plane. Friendly crew."
Cons: "Charge for 1st carry-on bag."
Pros: "the price"
Cons: "Flight's weren't on time, no food or snacks. Flight's weren't on time, no food or snacks. Had to pay for baggage."
Cons: "the crew on the red eye we took was not personable at all. the seats are extremely uncomfortable. the airline lost our luggage. we had over a 2 hour lay over and the luggage did not come, when we have been in layovers with less than 30 minutes and have not had an issue. everytime we called to follow up on our luggage, we got a different story, we were told it would arrive by 5 pm, then 9pm. didn't arrive until 1am."
Cons: "The plane was made so cheaply. The seats are now made of a one piece plastic mold that can no longer recline. These seats are then covered with 1/4 of an inch of padding so my backside was so sore after 3.5 hours on the plane. Then between them they put the thin plastic armrests which don't have any sort of tension on them. If your lucky enough to fly behind bored kids, like myself, then you also will learn how terrible of a sound it is as the kids lift them up then drop them so they bounce off the bottom. As if this weren't enough to make me want to rip open the emergency door and jump, we get to the tray table, or lack of. By the time I put my cell phone down on it there was no longer any space available for a drink. Not that I had one of them since it would have set me back another $3.50 after I finished getting ripped off at check in for another $70 on top of what I had already paid for my ticket and bag."
Cons: "I was drawn to Frontier because of the cheapest fare, only to find the add-ons pushed my round trip fare up $159.00. This is the first time I had to pay for any seat, but the seats are hard and they don't recline. My departure time was delayed two and a half hours. There was another 40 minute delay at arrival gate because the gate didn't work. My luggage was lost on my return flight, but returned speedily the next day. Your staff was great. I would return (if I needed to) for any one of those events except for the add-ons. I felt tricked into paying more."
Cons: "This was the return leg of the round trip. On both sides of travel we were stuck in the airplane (at the gate) for an hour and hour and a half respectively. Very little information was given. No additional comforts offered by the crew without a cost such as a beverage or snack and worse yet the seats don't even recline. In the end this budget airline cost me more money than a full service carrier. Make sure you consider ALL of the nickel and dime fees that you are hit with after your tickets are purchased. If you want to recline be prepared to pay an extra $50 for a seat upgrade each way. Same goes for luggage fees charged are applied to each leg of the trip."
Pros: "It was sorta cheap, not frills. After the delay we did make up some time, but.... nothing too amazing overall."
Cons: "Paying for Cary-on bag was super expensive ($40 bought with the ticket, it's even more expensive at the airport) and sort of offset the benefit of a cheap flight. There was no food or entertainment, and the flight was delayed by an hour because we had to wait for another Frontier flight ---- so that says something. Seats were super uncomfortable and the tray tables are stupidly small, maybe could hold a sandwich and nothing else. No other amenities at all. I'd rather pay $40 more for the flight, get some snacks and comfy seat and a free carry-on. Won't fly Frontier again unless I have to."
Cons: "The fact that it was sappoesed to be canceled and rescheduled and it was NOT. BOTCHED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Pros: "smooth flying by the pilot(s)."
Cons: "I hated everything about this flight. I had not taken a red-eye prior to this flight so I wasn't sure what to expect. There is no room to recline the seats or even lay your head down on the tray table in front of you (unless you're really short). Worst flight I've ever been on."
Pros: "Brand new A-321 (one week old) very smooth flight"
Cons: "The PA system on this one week old plane was way too loud. The long sales pitch for the Frontier credit card with 40,000 bonus miles was so loud that people were putting fingers in their ears. Otherwise excellent flight."
Cons: "No policies and prodesures to be followed by emoloyees in case of emergency. It was chaos. For hours the emoloyees didn't know what to do or what to communicate to travelers. Their own bosses were't picking up the phone. Horrible experience."
Pros: "On time departure. Early arrival"
Cons: "Luggage took very long time to appear"
Pros: "What did I like about the flight???? I guess that we landed and that is about it!"
Cons: "This airline is going completely down hill!!! We decided to take a red eye to our destination so that way we could "sleep" on the plane and have the whole next day to enjoy. One of the main reasons that we chose Frontier was the flight times as well as the cost. I knew going in that I would have to pay to bring a bag on the plane to use the storage that is already there and that not everyone was going to use ($30 for that per bag, really that is more expensive then "reserving" my seat). Which by the way, I think paying to reserve your seat is ridiculous and should be a crime when you have under aged children who need to sit next to their parent. I mean seriously, let's charge the people who could use to save every penny, nickel and dime possible more because we can (great family values). Maybe next time, I will not reserve my seat and let my 3 year old just sit with a random stranger and see what the Frontier staff does then (and before Child Protective Services is called, I am joking, I would not do that to my 3 year old). Anyway back to the point at hand, we took the red eye so we could sleep, but when we got on the plane we found out (and was not advertised) that the seats do not recline at all (seriously, who has ever been on a plane where the seats don't move even 1/2 an inch?). Now the seats not reclining was a little inconvenient, but the worst part is that the seat cushion had little to no padding on it. I think I would have been more comfortable sitting on high school bleachers with splinters that would poke my legs if I moved 1/4 an inch. I don't know about you, but I find it extremely hard to sleep on a plane where you have to readjust your body every 15 minutes to an uncomfortable see that does not recline. I can tell you this will be the last time that I fly Frontier and am afraid of what they will do to their customers (who help them stay in business) just to make another buck."
Cons: "The flight & staff were fine . The extra charges for baggage , a regular seat & any food except water was in my opinion underhanded in terms of advertising the cheap cost of the airline ticket . All of these hidden charges should be disclosed up front when booking . How expensive could it be to offer nuts or crackers & a beverage ? And hope ridiculous to issue an Airline Ticket and then when choosing a seat , a standard seat to be charged $12.00 ?? Will not use this booking site again and probably will avoid Frontier A tricked customer"
Pros: "Crew was fantastic great attitudes."
Cons: "Literally Everything else was horrid. The seats reminded me of plastic seats from grade school with a 1 inch cushion. My lower back is currently screaming in pain. The flight was cheap to book but what they didn't tell you when you booked is that you have to pay for carry on. I expect having to pay for checked in luggage but carry ons?? That you have to carry on yourself? And also different from literally every other airline, you have to pay to pick your seats! So yes i paid cheap for a flight but every other generally standard thing cost extra. A can of soda is 2$ which made me laugh so for entertainment there's that. Also loved that when my flight arrived at the gate there was no landing crew to receive us. The captain said either they forgot or they didn't know we were coming. Had to wait for an alternate crew."
Pros: "That I thought ahead and brought ear plugs so I could sleep part of the way."
Cons: "First of all, I think it's funny that you don't give the option of n/a for food and entertainment for those of us smart enough not to pay EVEN MORE for stuff that's listed in the ticket price on other flights. Really, avoiding free peanuts and soda is putting that many billions into the CEO's pockets?! Again, the boarding process seems like it was purposely made to be more horrible than it ever needs to be. I felt like steerage with the seats being so extremely close together. Again, the training of your flight attendance needs work. This flight a passenger asked about the seats reclining and the FA said they're "pre-reclined". Really?! That is extremely insulting."
Pros: "Nothing the flt was cancelled!"
Cons: "Can't believe I kept getting emails from your Company telling me the flt was on time and where my baggage came in, when the flt had been cancelled at midnight of the day of travel!"
Pros: "I was impressed with the patient attitudes of the crew and the quick thinking to find a solution when we were stuck on the ground for two hours during the blizzard because of power outages that made us unable to finish fueling the plane. The quick turnaround of finding another solution to fuel (flying to an operational airport with the fuel we had), and getting the alternate flight plan to Kansas written and approved was very impressive, and saved my trip."
Pros: "Nice staff - clean, new plane. Comfortable seats."
Cons: "The tray tables do not extend far enough from the seat which made it very hard to do computer work. The PA system had a lot of feedback !"
Cons: "Extra fees. $35 here, $40 there...not great"
Pros: "Price looked low!"
Cons: "- Checked bag charge - Seat assignment charges (each flight) - Layover was long - Second flight was delayed - Took a while for bags to show up at my destination. - No in-flight entertainment or WiFi. - Extra charge for _any_ drinks (including sodas) - No in-flight real meals, just snacks (all at additional charges.) By the time all was said and done it would have cost about the same to fly Alaska or Delta."
Pros: "1. Easier to board because much fewer luggage is brought on board. This is because they charge $40 each for the larger carry-ons. The smaller item (fits under the seat) is free. Best way is to check a large bag ($30 when paid in advance), which is cheaper than the carry-on. This is all made very clear on the website. 2. Also, we did not pay extra for a seat assignment, to see what we were given. In both flights, we were given decent seats together. 3. Crew very nice. 4. Very smooth landings."
Cons: "1. The seats don't recline. 2. The tray table is very small (about 4"), so your book or laptop won't fit on it. 3. Seemed to take a long time for the luggage to appear. 4. Frontier doesn't participate in TSA Pre-Check, so you have to go through the long security lines."
Cons: "I have never taken a flight where I had to pay to get a seat assigned and then pay a fee for my CARRY ON BAG. The ticket price seemed to be a good deal. All the additional costs made it so that I will likely never fly Frontier again!!"
Cons: "Again, the seats are just ridiculously uncomfortable. My back felt sore and stiff the entire flight and I only rested after taking 5 pain killers at once. Still stiff and sore the following days after the flight! I paid an extra $50 for the best upgrade and the seat doesn't even recline!!! WTF??"
Pros: "I liked the price. Super competitive, until you add on what other airlines do as a standard. Clean, modern aircraft. Colors were great inside and they had exceptional lighting."
Cons: "I did not like paying for my carrying on luggage. I did not like paying for a seat. I did not like paying for a snack. I did not read the fine print that these services were going to be for sale and they were not part of my ticket purchase. My fault, but as a flyer going through this, it produced in me a very negative view of Friontier. In fact, the feelings are so strong I will avoid flying with them if I can help it."
Pros: "I had heard so many bad stories about Frontier that I was hesitant to book, but the price was the determining factor. I had also heard about having to pay for everything so was mentally prepared. Yes, they charge for checked luggage, but most airlines do. I read their baggage policy (on booking ticket) so didn't take carry-on - no surprises here. I was surprised that the seat was wider than I thought! You DO NOT have to pay for your seat if you travel alone, as long as you don't care where they seat you; just don't make a seat selection when checking in omline and it will automatically assign one for you - free. A flight attendant made the ordinary safety guidelines funny!"
Pros: "On time"
Cons: "Lost luggage"
Pros: "Once more the staff wad the high point of the trip. I don't have a single complaint with them. Unless you count the broken chair which seemed a random accident They made a rough trip manageable. When they saw the chair wad broken they had someone to our hotel to examine it and decode if I needed a loaner within hours"
Cons: "When we arrived in Orlando my chair had been broken and the battery left on for hours so that it was deaf . Suet the 12 hour wait it took 3 more hours and a missed shuttle to sort out the wheelchair and get it charged enough to make it across the airport. 15 hours late was a rough way too stay a vacation"
The flight price was really low. The seats were not that comfortable.
The prices on snacks n beverages can be better
Left on time and arrived early! Deplaned quickly and all around efficiency
Pros: "Seats were close the front"
Cons: "Due to that fact that Covid-19 is present and we have to wear masks and stay six feet apart... I feel that he flights should not have been full... how can u stay six feet from someone who u don’t know is covid free when u are sitting on top of each other... Orlando airport is the worst airport I’ve ever been to.. they only had a limited amount of restaurants to feed a overcrowded airport... spirit airlines is the worst airline of all and I will never fly with them again... they changed my direct flight from Baltimore to new Orleans to Baltimore to Orlando then to New Orleans with no warning.. that was was very unprofessional... I definitely do not recommend to fly spirit ever again... I will still use kayak in the future for travel"
Pros: "We made it safely"
Cons: "Awful experience. Early in the day I received several updates about my flight being delayed. No details on why, but much appreciated. Upon arriving to the airport the flight was still showing 59 mins delayed. Oddly, with all of the early communxaruin, it suddenly ceased! No communication for at least 2 hrs before the flight. Even as the 'would be' boarding window, the line formed with people asking questions... yet there were no answers or updates to the proposed time of departure. Even when the 59 min late departure came and went, there was NO communication. Folks were in an uproar! Finally, with no announcement, the gate attendant just started checking boarding passes and letting people go through the gate. Huh? I have zone 1, yet he said, we're just boarding everybody.... and, on the 3+ hr flight, only 1 bathroom worked. AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!!"
Pros: "Bad experience I was sitting in the last row and half way through the flight one of the toilets got clogged and started to overflow and smell up the area. There was a puddle of water running down towards the isle and the crew member was telling her colleagues to leave it alone and let it run so she can see how bad it gets for when we land. Extremely unsanitary and unexceptable to travel with that smell and conditions. Plus to top it all off towards the end the overhead bin got jammed and I had to wait for someone to pop in open, again its unfortunate I had to go through this. Never again, I would not recommend spirit sorry."
Pros: "Crew was nice. However the spirit airline attendant at the desk told me to gate check my bag. I stood there waiting for someone to grab my bag for sometime. So I asked the stewardess and she told me just to bring the bag in and put my carry on in the over head compartment."
Cons: "However the desk attendant came on the aircraft took my bag out of the overhead compartment. And then left it outside or the plane. I waited at the airport for until 1:30am before I got a confirmation that the back was in fact at Newark still. I had a nursing convention to go to and I had no clothing. So I had to Uber to Walmart than Uber back to my hotel. So I didn’t get any sleep. I didn’t check into my hotel til 4am due to a negligent spirit employee. I paid for the checked bag and there was plenty of space in the over head compartment. She caused me unnecessary stress and an embarrassing morning with my administrators due to my lack of sleep."
Pros: "I really love the comfort of the from seats!"
Pros: "Good legroom, they waited for the late passengers(it wasn’t just me!)"
Cons: "Free bev"
Pros: "Crew were polite, but one did not take her time to look at every passenger when picking up the last trash. She walked by us very quickly without looking at all. When I asked if I could give her our trash when she was on her way back to her seat, she said, “we’re all done now, sorry” and she kept walking. The pilots did a wonderful job during take off, during our flight and landing! We’re all blessed for such a safe flight."
Cons: "Zone 4 appears to be the largest zone to board the plane and did in fact take the longest. I think the zones could be broken up better and should be so that apart from the benefit of boarding early, the rest of the paying passengers don’t have to wait for long periods of time to board, our satisfaction should matter too. Also, my 5 year old was super sad and disappointed that the flight did not serve snacks (even though we ate while waiting at the gate for our flight to arrive). He looks forward to the snacks that many airlines serve aboard. Just thought I’d mention that."
Pros: "Certain staff were friendly and helpful"
Cons: "This was my first flight with Dpirit Airlines and I was greatly dissatisfied. Here's why: 1. Not easy to pay for baggage online; complicated and time consuming. 2. Not clear when I purchased ticket that I would need to pay for carry on as well as checked, this felt sneaky and dishonest. Be open about charges. 3. Was not given a a boarding pass for second portion of my flight. 4. Seats don't lean back so was not able to rest very well. 5. Bright floresecent lights inside plane unpleasant and also made it difficult to rest. 6. Certain staff were short and unfriendly."
Cons: "My flight was delayed 7 hours. I never recieved an e-mail letting me know of this even though I gave my email when I bought the tickets so that I would get updates on the flight. I checked the flight status before leaving my house at 2am and the flight was still on time. After driving 2 hours to the airport and going through security I found out that my flight was being delayed 7 hours and no representative was even at the gate to speak with. All I was given was one $14 meal voucher which didn’t even cover a full meal at the airport. It’s told that the issue was mechanical but I later found out that te first flight had been over booked and the 1pm flight didn’t have enough people on it so they made everyone on at 6am flight wait until 1pm to fly out. Once on the plane, the seats were hard and uncomfortable and the plane was cold. I am extremely disasiflied and will never use Spirit again."
Pros: "Seats were nice and stewardist."
Cons: "Was running late because roads were almost to point of non drivable. Zero visibility. The spirit machine would not print my boarding pass. It said see an attendant for assistance. I checked in day before flight. The man at first would not help me print my pass. I couldn't pull my pass up on smart phone but I had the receipt and confirmation. Finally he helped and printed my boarding pass. People shouldn't be treated like this. I pay my taxes and I don't have to choose spirit. I can fly through another airliner. The fact that he was giving me a hard time on Christmas was even worse. If I acted that way at my job I'd be fired. Thank you for sending me your survey and have a great day and a happy new year."
Pros: "I like that the flight was on time and got from Denver to LA."
Cons: "I didn’t like that from the time I got a boarding pass upon arrival at the airport, to when I was boarding, something changed and I was not notified until I got to the front of the line to board the plane and the attendant went to scan my pass and told me (with very vague direction) to go get a new boarding pass at the counter. By this time the area is completely full of people lined up to get on two different flights, so navigating out of line and then back into line once i has the new boarding pass was a disaster."
Pros: "Flight crew was amazing! Quick, courteous, responsive."
Cons: "TSA precheck. My reservation indicated it was entered, but it didn't print on the ticket. When I brought this to the attention of Spirit CSRs, The answer was "Yeah, sometimes it does that." Unacceptable. TSA precheck is a convenience for passengers and, more importantly, an added level of security for TSA personnel. Prechecked passengers have already been background screened. These passengers are known safe entities in an uncertain security environment. Each person prechecked is one less security threat TSA needs to assess, meaning TSA can focus more effort on potential threats. Denying a precheck customer precheck status makes everyone's life more difficult. Fix your system, then train employees on how to appropriately deal with these issues."
Cons: "Flight was 2 1/2 hours late. Big front seats only barely bigger than regular seats. Flight attendants were more like salesmen - pushing the spirit credit card. Flight attendant very brisk as I initially sat down. I wanted to get something from my bag before stowing it in the Compartment above me. She literally took it out of my hands and said I couldn't have the bag out. The plane was still boarding, I was standing in front of my seat, not in the aisle, so passengers could continue to pass by. Very rude."
Pros: "Crew were jovial and witty"
Cons: "Being charged for every ounce of baggage. Nightmare queues at bag drop and security"
Pros: "There was nothing to like."
Cons: "They delayed our flight twice, then ultimately cancelled the flight. Problem is, we drove 9 hours from Salt Lake City to Denver in order to get these cheap flights. We were headed to visit family and had things scheduled for the next day, including tickets to a baseball game. They told us we had to wait 24 hours for their next flight out, and by this point we weren't sure that flight wouldn't be cancelled as well. They said it was due to "weather" and "air traffic congestion", yet literally every other airline still flew their planes out of Denver that night. It basically translates into: "Here at Spirit we're the lowest on the totem pole." and better yet their customer service was so horrible they could not care less about their customers. We then read thousands of negative reviews about this airline and their frequent cancellations, horrible customer service, etc. and wondered how in the world we allowed ourselves to book tickets with this world-class organization. So now we're stuck in Denver with nowhere to stay. We ended up feeling more comfortable booking tickets with a legitimate airliner for the following morning, and had to get a hotel for the night. Then since we arrived to our destination at a different time than planned our family was no longer able to pick us up and we had to spend $70 on a cab. In the long run it ended up costing us a few hundred more dollars to get to our destination so that we could still do the things we'd had planned. Oh also, they didn't even call us or anything about the cancellation. One of us just happened to check our email and we noticed the flight cancellation. So that's great. And the cherry on top was when we called to get a bloody refund they shorted us $20. So my $20 is now floating around in Spirit cyberspace along with my dignity and sanity. If I could give these guys less than one star I would."
Cons: "Check-in at reservations section was terrible...there were 2 lines of passengers checking in and 1 line had 3 agents checking passengers in and the other line had 1 agent checking passengers in. We were second in line...in the wrong line with only 1 agent checking passengers in...we waited 20 minutes to get helped, because the party in front of us (with 2 in line) actually had a ticket for 6 passengers (4 of whom showed up several minutes later), who had to decide/pay for luggage options ,etc.. If you have 2 lines & 4 agents, 2 agents should be serving each line...enough for me never to fly Spirit again!"
Cons: "During a difficult weather situation, Spirit was absolutely useless and left us stranded for a week. With storms on the East Coast, Spirit cancelled flights two days in a row (as did all other airlines). However, with Spirit, the website was useless for rebooking ourselves, and there were so few representatives at the airport and to reach a rep on the phone that we waited several hours just to be able to rebook at the airport. In the end, Spirit could not get us on another flight out for 7 more days. Causing extreme additional expense to me and my travel partner. I will never risk flying Spirit again."
Pros: "Friendly employees"
Cons: "Spirit canceled our flight and their only solution was refund or wait 3 days until they could get us home. Had to spend thousands to rebook to get us home the next day on another again. Never again."
Pros: "Used Kayak to find cheap flights that fit our time frame. Spirit airlines proved to be a quick and reliable airline getting us to Chicago 15 mins early. When departing Chicago email notifications kept us up to date on possible delays of flight caused by weather conditions. I called Spirit customer service representative and changed my flight to avoid the worst of the weather. They were able to make the changes and honor the seating arrangements I had made for my family of five. Great experience!!"
Pros: "i have flown spirit multiple times out of phoenix in all kinds of weather and not once has it ever taken off on time! once the airline attendant even yelled at the passengers upon arrival at the gate like we were all children. I decided to check the status today instead of waiting in the airport for four hours and yes--- again it was delayed one hour and then two hours. so I planed accordingly and planned to be at the airport 1.5 hours ahead of the revised flight time. then they changed the flight time again and now I've missed my flight. this airline is absolutely the worst and I have flown domestically and internationally for over 35 years. I'm done with you spirit!"
Cons: "Customer service was terrible before both of my flights. Both times I was not assigned a seat and had to go to the counter to get it. When I got to the counter no one had boarded the plane. By the time everyone had borded the plane I was still in the line. I had already told the representative that I needed a seat. I was getting anxious because I did nnot want to lose my flight and attempted to talk to both reps to see what was going on. One told me I had to wait for the other rep, without even looking at my face. The other ignored me many times until he heard me complain to another customer."
Pros: "Clean and friendly staff"
Cons: "I paid $190 for the plane ticket based on the price comparisons on Kayak. Because of this hasty and naieve commitment, I ended up being forced to pay $200 more (surprise!!) for round trip tickets for my carryon and checked bag. If i had wanted to choose my seats (extra a charge) or have a snack on the flight (extra charge) this flight would have been immensely expensive. And the seats are incredibly hard, uncomfortable and do not recline. Almost $400 for a round trip of discomfort and unpleasant surprise charges...I'm betting this airline will go out of business quickly due to lack of repeat customers."
Pros: "The price is right for the base fare, but Spirit gets you with all the extra fees. Baggage cost is very high, and higher at the airport if you don't 'pre-purchase' bags to check online. The weight allowance for checked bags is only 40 pounds with massive fees for heavier bags, and they charge for carry on, too. Checking just one 30 pound bag doubled my total cost of flying, and it would have been more if I hadn't pre-purchased. They even charge for water on the plane, which I find really bad. Maybe it's just me, coming from Australia where you're legally required to provide free water, but this rubs me up the wrong way. They also charge if you need agent assistance to check in at the airport. The staff were all very polite and friendly, and the overall experience was fine, but the extra fees do NOT make it worth it. It makes the guests feel unwelcome and each extra step and extra charge makes the whole experience more stressful and complicated. You could pay a slightly higher base fare with United, for example, but probably save money with more generous baggage/check-in procedures, and have a worry-free experience, too. The staff were great; it's the company policies I have a problem with."
Cons: "Ridiculous fees and charges for every aspect of the flight. Not a fan. Probably won't fly with Spirit again."
Pros: "Very cheap flight! Nice attendants. Good pilot. I seriously didn't even feel the touchdown. I never experienced that before!"
Cons: "I was lucky enough to only be traveling with a small backpack - which is good - because if you didn't pre-pay for a carry-on, we were told by the gate agent it would be $65. And if you didn't come up and pay the $65 - it would be $100 when you boarded! What?! All economy seats are small now but at least they recline a little. These didn't - and they're smaller. The most painful flight I've ever had (only 6 feet tall) - the seat is stick straight! if you have a carry-on and especially luggage - just pay the extra for another airline. The price will definitely even out and you'll get a seat you can actually breath in! At one point they were trying to sell so many extras I thought they were going to start a time-share pitch. So unless you just have a back pack or purse - stick with another airline."
Pros: "I booked a flight to Colorado for a wedding. I'm poor, so every little bit helps. The cabin crews both times were cheerful and friendly."
Cons: "I bought two checked bags (one for there, one for back). I didn't want to spend the money, but I was in the bridal party (thankfully able to use one of my old dresses), so I had to have the extra space. But at the airport I discovered that the bag I was bringing was instead able to be brought onboard as a free "personal item." The people at the counter assured me that I would get a refund. Well, no refund. I get a "credit" for free checked bags, which I have to use within the next two months or it expires! How can I possibly afford another ticket, do they think their low prices attract jet-setters? This is actually not a good thing for me, I really am poor (like, I had to give up lunch for a month in order to afford a checked bag, poor), and I am very unhappy about this. I will not fly Spirit again. I hope they enjoy my $60."
Pros: "The cost of the trip was very low - with all the frills removed, air travel can be relatively cheap. Plan ahead - you will not be able to use TSA Pre-Check, you will have to pay extra to carry on a bag (so buy your bag online at the airline's website before you go to the airport - this is the cheapest way to do it as they charge you more to purchase the carry-on at the check-in counter and even more if you wait until the boarding gate), and you will have to pay for all beverages including water and provide your own in-flight entertainment. If you plan ahead and know what you're getting into, flying Spirit can be a pleasant experience. The flight staff is friendly and polite."
Cons: "The seats are very close together - don't expect to have any leg room - and they do not recline. Bring a neck pillow if you have any intention of sleeping."
Cons: "Our flight was delayed 3 hours for mechanical issues. The staff at the gate was the unprofessional...rude, sarcastic and just plain miserable. I even witnessed a shouting match between the gate crew and a customer who walked up to ask what the new time for take off was...She answered his question by stating, "the same time I said 5 minutes ago." The male passenger didn't hear the announcement (because she talked so fast). He kept asking and she kept repeating her snarky response about "the time time I just told you" until it became heated. Absolutely ridiculous. Not much improved when we made it on the aircraft. It felt like it was a shell of what a "finished" aircraft should look like. All in all a pitiful experience. I hate that I already purchased my return flight with Spirit. Saving $50 was NOT WORTH IT!!!!!"
Pros: "It was simple and convenient and got me where I was trying to go cheaply. It was fairly clean n what not and I liked how kind of hip it felt with their process and design. It really does feel like a modern airline sort of like an uber or something but in order to make it cheap they do cut down on pretty much anything that makes the experience kind of luxurious. The chairs were quite thin for example and no in flight food was complimentary. I was able to take my large backpack on the flight free as a personal item so that was great too. They have a metal frame to check the size of your item. If it fits in there it can be a personal item. My backpack was able to squeeze but typical carry on's may not. It also really felt like an airline for the youth which goes along with that kind of young and hip feel. Good stuff."
Cons: "The thin somewhat stiff chairs were difficult to sleep in."
Pros: "I chose Spirit's flights from a listing on Kayak. The flight APPEARED to be less expensive than others listed."
Cons: "I was furious to discover large additional charges after my nonrefundable fare was purchased. Having to pay an additional charge for a basic seat was an insult. Why wouldn't a basic seat be included in the ticket price? The ticket can't be used without one! Having flown on another airline a very few months ago with no charge for a carryon bag, HavING to not only pay for a single carryon, but pay more than the cost of checking the bag was infuriating. Findng additional charges for even a small soft drink during the flight simply added to the offensive sales practices. Having duly paid these fees, the extremely tight spacing of the seats allowed for absolutely no movement during the flight. Immovabe seat backs and cheap hard molded plastic seats did nothing to alleviate the feeling of disregard for customers. During and after the flight, I heard a steady stream of customers saying that they would never fly with this airline again."
Pros: "Flight was on time. Flight was comfortable. Crew was kind."
Cons: "Hidden fees were angering. It is marketed as unbundling, but this isn't advertised until its to late. i was shocked when I checked in online and was required to select a seat and tonpay an additional fee for it. Because other, less expensive seats were taken,I had to pay $50 for a seat on a flight that I already paid for. There was a fee for my bag, regardless if I check or carry on. Everyone has at least one bag! Unless I'm flying to be there for a couple of hours, I need a bag how dare you charge me for a seat and one carry on size bag. These things are standard. Food was very limited and very overpriced for the minuscule items. I had to pay $2.00 for about 10oz of coffee. In the end, Also, none of the seats on the flight recline so forget being comfortable and resting on the flight b In the end I paid more for this flight that I did when I made the same trip in Jet Blue. This "unbundling" is a marketing tactic designed to sooo customers into spending money on additional (some required) fees. I will never fly spirit again."
Pros: "Cheap--but time is not worth that savings"
Cons: "Flight was hours and hours late, with multiple flights cancelled before all piled into this one. Worse, poor communication alerted us flight was late, then after we delayed leaving for airport accordingly a new message said flight was on time after all. On arrival at airport, flight was indeed late--but more than two hours later than originally stated. Poor relatives had to pick up my son at arrival airport at 1:00 in the morning. We will never, ever, fly your airline again, and will tell everyone how unhappy we were with trying to save a little money with you."
Cons: "They would not let us on the plane despite being there 25 min before the flight left. They said we had to check-in online, which we tried twice to do, but it wouldn't let me because a balance for our baggage and seats did not go through. Interestingly, when I entered the credit card info it never once told me the credit card was invalid or that any issue had occurred. When I called the number it gave when it wouldn't let me check in I got an automated system that had no option for "speak to a representative" or "check-in." The ticketing counter told me they literally can't print a ticket after 45 min until flight and Latrobe's single gate TSA checkpoint "closed" at 6:30 for this 7 flight. Meanwhile, I watched "security" walk behind the counter when we got there. Spirit refused to refun is the money for the flight. We will never fly Spirit or out of Latrobe PA EVER AGAIN."
Pros: "The flight attendants were very friendly and the pilot did a great job. There were bad storms in Orlando but you wouldn't know it with the flight. All Spirit flights I have taken have had good pilots and friendly flight attendants."
Cons: "When I arrived at Chicago-O'Hare to check in, there was a line around the block for only Spirit Airlines. They had 2 people working at the kiosks and both were slower than molasses. There were several employees that walked up to the kiosks but none of them assisted customers. They had no urgency at all. On top of that, the lady that I interacted with was very rude. She talked to me like I was a complete moron and apologized that another Spirit team in Orlando "didn't do their job properly but O'Hare employees follow the rules". Overall, not impressed at all and I will avoid booking with Spirit on future flights."
Cons: "This was the worst flight experience I have ever had. Spirit switched their flight to a smaller airplane at the last minute and left about a dozen passengers without a seat, left stranded on a flight they PAID FOR, checked in online for, and ARRIVED AT THE AIRPORT over 2 hours in advance for. They refused to communicate with us as we waited. They were completely understaffed and left a single employee to handle this. His ineptitude delayed the entire flight and stranded passengers remained stranded. Horrible, incompetent, disorganized, and completely Spirit's fault."
Pros: "Some of the flight attendents were hilarious! It almost (not quite) makes up for their poor service."
Cons: "They cancelled our flight on the way back, which happens a lot I understand. The earlist flight they could give us was more than a week later, and they offered no other solutions. We ended up spending twice as much as we were given back for our cancelled flight in order to get home. Not only were they not helpful in finding this flight (my husband had to run around the airport looking for a flight home) but they also could not confirm the amount that would be refunded when we called back later. They also give you a lot of hidden fees (i.e. $90 for a carryon rountrip)."
Pros: "Walking on to the plane I was greeted by two flight attendants who were very freindly and making small talk with almost everyone who came onto the plane. The captain was also standing in the doorway to the cabin and was greeting passengers as they boarded. I noticed that the captain had brought two young children in to the cabin to show them the front of the plane, I didn't know that happened any more! I was VERY impressed and have never experinced such kindness and professionalism on a flight. Thank you for making the flight the best experience I've ever had on a major airline! Flight NK382 from Denver on Fri July 15, 2016. Blown away."
Pros: "The flight was very cost effective."
Cons: "There was a presentation made to all passengers midflight trying to get everyone to sign up for a credit card in return for a "free" flight on the airline, presented as a gift. As a captive audience member, I found this very unprofessional, especially since the airline first proclaimed that all passengers could have a free flight then appended their statement with "as long as you sign up for a Spirit credit line." I also don't like the $10 charge for a printed boarding pass at the airport from Spirit; I understand the concept of modularizing costs, but there is no way the act of printing a pass for a passenger costs the airline remotely close to $10. It is a clear attempt to capitalize on a customer's forgetfullness."
Pros: "liked the cost. flight was good plane was clean but could have been a bit cleaner (windows) seats we good (could have been a little softer) I noticed that some of the flight crew were not as focused on their attention to the passengers. I did notice that the stewardess in our area (who sat right in front of me (exit seat )) was on her cell phone texting or playing a game or what ever young people do on their phones. as a travelling public person, my comfort level or expectation is that all the time I am on board, that the crew is on duty and focused on their duties, which should include, not being distracted by using personal electronic devises at anytime. Secondly, the uniforms that the attendants wore seemed to be a little less cared for or clean as other airlines. Lastly, (this may be picky,) but it seemed that the hair of a few of the attendants seemed unkempt at a level in keeping with the beautiful airplane we were in. There was a steward that came on the plane who looked light his shirt was too big (collar was too big for his neck) as was the size of his coat. As a business owner myself, I appreciate the small things, as these can be the things that overshadows all of the other things we do to provide a good product, service or experience for our customers. Personal inner Professionalism is a mindset that transcends and fuels ongoing service, at levels which a rule book alone cannot attain. (employees who are proud of where they work, who they work with and for, end up delivering on our promises as owners.) I like your web site and appreciate the "fun" you have built into it. I understand the message it sends, but as we know, most people expect the lower fares from Spirit, but don't get the steps you must take to be able to provide those fairs and still cover ALL THE BILLS. Continued success in the future. Jim Holland"
Pros: "Plane was clean and the crew was friendly and professional. Spirit refunded part of my ticket when my connecting flight was cancelled."
Cons: "After flying Spirit Airlines for the first time, I came to realize a cheap flight doesn't save you money in the long run. Flight delays, cancellations, and added costs meant I didn't save any money flying with Spirit. I booked a flight from Cleveland to Denver with a lay over in Dallas. My lay over in Dallas was canceled due to weather. I understand that the airline doesn't have any control over the weather but they can control how they treat their customers. The best Spirit could do was offer me a flight to my final destination 21/2 days later. Meaning I would be stuck in Dallas for 2 days and I would have to pay for a hotel out of pocket. I ended up paying for a hotel overnight ($171) and booking a flight first thing in the morning with Frontier airlines ($89). Coming back, once again there was problems in Dallas during my lay over. The flight was delayed 3 hours."
Pros: "Because carry on bags cost more than checked, the line to check in is quite long but boarding is generally quite smooth because you have fewer people fighting for overhead space."
Cons: "Spirit's big claim and advertising push is that they will save you money by only making you pay only for what you need. In theory that's great. But their practices make it clear they're not in the business to save you money but rather to entice you with a cheap base fare and then find lots of individual places where they can price gouge. When my husband booked tickets, they told us that checked bags would be $21. We factored that in to the price and decided this was still there most affordable option. But I guess you had to pay right then, because when I checked in the night before, it cost me $40 per bag. And my husband checked in day of and was charged $50. We also couldn't sit together because they wanted to charge $9 to pick seats. It doesn't cost the airline anything to let us pick seats nor twice as much to carry your bag if you pay for it on flight day, so these extra fees and escalating prices don't say "we're all about saving you money," as they claim. In the end, we paid $195 in bag fees (40+50+40+40+25 for one bag over 40 pounds), couldn't sit together, and didn't even get a glass of water."
Pros: "I booked my 80 year old parents their flights through Kayak. It ended up being through priceline."
Cons: "My parents arrived at the airport and spirit said they didn't have authorization. that the confirmation wasn't accurate. I paid, and they had a confirmation number. but the amount of time it took to sort it out - made them miss their flight. they then had to drive 2 hours home. then get up at 2am the next day to take a different flight. arriving 1 day late and cutting their vacation short. because they didn't pick up their rental car the day they were supposed to they got an additional charge for that as well. HORRIBLE experience. I would like to know who I can talk to for customer compensation."
Cons: "The flight was delayed then cancelled. We were given the choice of refund that will arrive a week later or to take a flight a 9 pm tomorrow. The reason for the cancellation was said to me a crew "time-out" that was caused by the rain. There was no other compensation for the cancellation nor did they get ahold of everyone to let them know it was cancelled. After dealing with the gate I found the customer service desk and waited for 2 hours just to talk to someone and was told nothing they could do."
Cons: "Did not like the fact that i was on time to my flight but my flight didnt not leave for an hour after it was schedualed due to a "computer" problem. It didnt seem like much was wrong since all the mechanics were just sitting around talking to the flight attendants. Also the plane kept making this unusual grinding sound before we even took off as well as while we werr in the air. The flight attendants were very rude to alot of people, careless with the credit card machine dropped it very roughly on the ground and laughing about it. I am pretty sure the older one of the three was drunk because she reaked of alcohol , I didnt not catch her name but she was the ruddest of them even to an elderly man and a small child. Then Liz was also very rude to customers as well as having an attitude that was as if she didnt carr about her job. The man Gustavo was not to bad he just spoke over the intercom as if he was new. My mother who was traveling with me asked for a seat belt extender twice and the third time was finaly given one and laughed at by the staff and the during the flight she discoverd a roach in the pouch in front of her. Also back to a referance to the bad staff a woman sat next to us asked for a pain killer or some sort and was told " i cant give it to you before we take off, and if i could we dont have anything other than our own"-liz then twords the end the poor girl was sweating drasticaly and holding her stomach and the older attendent whose name i did not get came up and said " WHATS WRONG WITH YOU?" and laughed. Over all i was NOT haooy woth this flight i do understand the fact that i GET WHAT I PAY FOR BUT THAT WAS JUST RIDICULOUS."
Pros: "If you're interested in a quick flight- UNDER $300 almost ANYWHERE**, THIS is the airlines to fly.. It's simple, fast, and got to my destination with little to no hiccups*"
Cons: "Wow, the comments below are all similar.. Look, Prices should be announced as: (ex) Atl to Orlando $160+baggage.. <--- I've heard SO MANY complaints from passengers about baggage fees.. Look, If it's one of the only ways to get extra income, then a simple carryon fee for $25 should be attached accross the board* Even IF someone didn't have a carry on, the $25 should still be within the ticket- THAT WAY, you won't have disgruntled customers having to cough up an extra $50-100+ at the check-in.. AFTER they probably spent too much on their travel.. (Not saying only poor people take Spirit, but there IS a reason people fly with them.. Because it's supposed to be economical*"
Pros: "The flight I ended up taking was quick and actually left on time"
Cons: "I had a 6 am flight. At 5 am we were told that it would be delayed until 10:30. At 8 we were told it would be delayed until 11:30. At 11:20 they announce that our plane landed and just needed to unload and get cleaned and we could start boarding shortly. Two minutes claret we were told the flight was cancelled. They told us everyone would fit on the 3:49 flight that would arrive in Orlando at 4:10. By that time I was tired of waiting and just wanted to get to Orlando so I asked to get on the flight to Tampa that was leaving at 12:15. The airline wouldn't get me a flight that was with delta that would have leaf at 6:55. They only offered a seat on one of their later flights, a refund, or a $7 meal voucher. That meal voucher wasn't even enough to cover the cost of a bagel and coffee. Also when I purchased the ticket it didn't say anything about paying for a carry-on bag. When I got to the airport I found out I had to pay $55 to take my carry-on. This was my worst flight experience."
