Easy boarding process.
Seats were very comfortable.
Cost of luggage was much higher than expected. The cost for checked luggage ($50) and carry -on ($55) was exorbitant.
Food nor entertainment were provided free of charge, so this is a category that are rated low.
I recognize that the cost of the flight is less expensive than normal prices, however, when you add the additional costs, the price results in a much higher expense than normal.
The non-stop flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Rochester stops in Baltimore. Southwest's definition of non-stop is the passenger does not get off the plane, but the plane does stop. Does Merriam Webster know? On check in, the gate showed flight to Baltimore and announcements were for Baltimore. I double checked at the desk to make sure this was the through flight to Rochester, NY. It was confirmed that it was. On boarding, we were more than an hour delayed leaving because of a dent in the tail to be checked, but then could not get paperwork to depart. Consequently, there were a number of connections in Baltimore that were missed. During the flight, rescheduled flights and gates were announced. Long Island, New Hampshire, etc. were mentioned. Nothing said regarding Rochester. Upon touchdown, gate assignments for the rerouted passengers were announced. Most passengers disembarked. As the stewardess started cleaning the plane, I inquired if we would be delayed more than the initial 1.5 hours. I got a dear in the headlights look as she said this plane is going to Dallas. Whereupon, there were a number of other passengers that chimed in with a "What?" She said she was going to get a supervisor. At no time during the flight did any announcement mention a continuing flight to either Rochester or Dallas. I am concerned that if I had not asked, about a dozen of us would have been scoping out Stetson's instead of arriving in Rochester. We disembarked and were in the jet way as a SW employee came to tell us that we were not going to Rochester. At the Customer Service desk, we were rebooked on a flight 5 hours hence. Leaving at gate A -10. There was a plane there later and a pilot and stewardess waiting. As we got closer to boarding time, there was no one at the desk and no info on the screen. The Pilot and stewardess got up and left, but there was no announcement of a gate change. I checked the board and the gate had changed.
I am glad that SW was safety conscious and checked the dent. Those things happen. The paperwork hold up is another issue. The communications on the through flight is woefully inadequate, as was the communications the rest of the day. As things are delayed, I also appreciate the rerouting even though the 3.5 hour flight ended up being 8 hours. Had not experienced such a continuing communication lax before on Southwest, but I will think twice next time I book. No frills shouldn't mean no communication.
We’re not the seller.
At KAYAK we don’t set the prices, so it’s not possible for us to guarantee what other companies are selling.
