The United Kingdom has reimposed national lockdown.
From January 4, National lockdown in England is in effect. Traveling away from home, including internationally, is restricted from England except in limited circumstances such as for work or for education.
Foreign nationals are subject to the ‘Stay at Home’ regulations. They should not travel abroad unless it is permitted.
Different rules apply in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Travelers must follow all the rules that apply to them.
From November 20, Scotland restricted cross-border travels within the UK, only essential travels—which includes health reasons, work and for study—will be allowed to enter and leave Scotland. People living within Level 3 or Level 4 lockdown areas in Scotland are also not permitted to leave their area, and banned from traveling overseas, though people in Level 0-2 are not.
Travelers who have been in or transited through South Africa in the past 10 days are not allowed to enter The United Kingdom with the exception of British nationals, nationals of Ireland, residents of the UK.
Certain areas of the UK and Crown Dependencies may have specific travel regulations. Check the relevant page for information related to travel to Jersey, Isle of Man, Shetland, and Orkney.
All travelers entering the United Kingdom must present a completed "Public Health Passenger Locator Form" to immigration upon arrival.
On January 18, all travelers to England, Scotland or Wales must have a medical certificate with a negative COVID-19 PCR, antigen or LAMP test result taken within 3 days prior to departure.
Travelers from the Common Travel Area (the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Ascension, Falkland Islands and St Helena), will not be in scope of the regulations. Children under the age of 11 will also not be required to complete pre-departure testing.
Until January 21, travelers from Antigua and Barbuda, St Lucia or Barbados will also not be in scope of the regulations.
On January 18, travel corridors will be suspended, all travelers arriving in the UK from any foreign country except Ireland are subject to 10-day self-isolation.

The excursion departs at 12p.m. This flights arrives at 11.25 a.m., but the lines in immigration are stupidly long. We arrived at the counter at 12.15. In a very unfriendly way, they explained the excursion had left, and no possibilities for joining it in Town. So, we were stuck at the airport for several hours. How stupid is to offer an excursion to passengers in layover, but program a flight with 300 passengers to arrive just in time to miss the excursion? Somebody has to think this over. This excursion should leave at 12.30, and it would avoid dozens of passengers stuck and unhappy."

Cons: "This flight was pure misery. In the Istanbul airport flight gates are not announced until an hour before your fight. This would be fine if Turkish Airlines would also allow us access to our flight at that time. The gate had been announced and we had to wait for them to set up a security checkpoint before we could even sit at our gate. This security checkpoint was set up at a point where nearly everyone on the flight was waiting. This caused it to be a huge delay of people concerned about missing their flight. Little did they know that they had nothing to be concerned about because our flight would eventually be delayed two hours. We were eventually loaded onto our plane which apparently was having some technical issues despite just landing in Istanbul. There were people who had rode in on the plane that was eventually deemed unsafe to fly because of an error with the steering mechanism (which we were not even told what was going on until we boarded a second plane). While they determined this we sat on a hot, non air-conditioned plane full of screaming children. I understand why they were screaming and wanted to join in. We eventually had to deboard the plane and wait for them to secure us an alternate plane. They attempted to deliver the plane to the gate, but were unable to steer the first plane away from it, so we had to be transported by bus to the open tarmac. There was no order or organization as to how people were loaded on to either the bus or plane and it was pure and utter choas that delayed our flight even further. The plane we boarded did not have inflight entertainment so we sat on our four hour flight to London left to our own devices. When we arrived in London it was pat the point of public transportation trains running and I had to reroute to a bus. By the time I arrived at my flat it was 4 in the morning. Turkish Airlines has been the most chaotic, unprofessional, disorganized, and inefficient airline I have ever traveled on. My tale will continue with my return flights and how they lost my luggage and it hung out in Istanbul for a few days before being returned to me. I can not stress enough to others to never travel with this airline. The cheaper price is not worth it."

I had an injury and surgery to my right foot, and as a result was using a walking can for m9bility. One my return flight to UK one cabin crew member decided in their wisdom to place said cane in the overhead bin. I advised her, I didn't like nor think this to be a good idea. Things move when taking off and my fair was if one wasn't aware the cane was there it may fall and injure someone. She insisted, and put the can into the overhead bin, and surprise, one of her fellow cabin members opened this b8n, and down came the cane on a passenger's head. For her injury, they offered her water and proceeded to hand the cane back to me. On flight TK 603 or TK 1983 we were assigned seats in economy row 20 A and b, well my son was seated in 20B, almost sliced his palm on the armrest, because the cover that should have been there wasn't, thus exposing jagged metal. I had to insist that we be moved and they should NEVER allow the cabin be loaded with such dangers visibly exposed. They didn't seem to show much concern, since the flight was full of "blacks"...! On our maiden flight on this airline, we had a 15+ hour layover. Couldn't get assistance from airport staff on simple questions such as where could one rest for the 15 hours, airport staff are busy riding around on automated wheel chairs, and when we asked them to assist an elderly lady who obviously could not walk the distance to her boarding gate in Istanbul, we were met with glares, or look of "they don't know English" or simply being miss directed, whilst my son carried this ladies heavy bag, including his own, and I on my walking stick, until we located the infraction desk, where a true gentleman, by the name of Mahmet came to our rescue, or more importantly took over the matter and assisted this lovely lady who was heading back to new york, to get her water for her medication, a chair to sit on until a wheelchair was brought to her. Honestly, in the many years that I've traveled, I've never seen or encountered a group of unprofessional, disrespectful and just downright prejudiced to visitors to their country! You couldn't pay me enough to visit Turkey or ever fly Turkish Airlines again in my life. So, so disappointed and disgusted by the whole experience it begs the question, how was this airline voted the 2nd best airline in Europe? You must have a very low ranking requirement, or my expectations are just too high for this airline, airport and the people I encountered."

She told me me to go to the regular check-in line, where I waited another 45 minutes. None of the 3 "help" personnel standing around when approached managed to tell me that there was a special counter for handicapped persons. The one at the express self-check-in refused to give me her lasst name or any form of ID (first name Sophia). After waiting an additional 15 minutes for a wheelchair, I was deposited in a waiting area, where a second wheelchair arrived after another long wait. Told me I might not make the plan (I did). Overall a very unpleasant and nasty experience. With the exception of the very nice lady (Mrs. Ilser?? ) who checked in my luggage, none of the other 3 persons at the express and regular check-in spoke decent German or English, and none was helpful (Go there, wait!!!) Barely made the plane in MUC, Heathrow turned out much better than the touted German efficiency. Please forward to Lufthansa customer relations. Dr. W. Hartwig"

Cons: "Sprang for business class. Could not get assigned seats until 24 hours before takeoff unless I paid an extra $200 and therefore got the last 2 seats together. Check in was very slow. The agents disappeared for about 15 minutes. Business class lounge ran out of food but BA gave us vouchers to eat elsewhere in the terminal. Flight left about an 90 min late (seems like it is always late) so had to run through Heathrow to catch the connection. Boarding area was too small and chaotic. Seating in business class was ok for me as I am only 5''7" but would be poor for someone over 6 feet. The steak entree was brown through and through. Overall the experience was disappointing."
Cons: "Incredibly, when we went to the British Airways desk to check in they said they didn't have our tickets (!). They put us on standy-by even though we'd booked the tickets and paid in full seven months in advance. Once we eventually got on the plane, it blew a tire on the tarmac and took five (!) hours to fix. There was another short delay finding a gate once we landed in Heathrow, then they lost my luggage and I've yet to receive it. Far and away the worst flight I've ever taken. Avoid BA if you can."

Cons: "Unfortunately, the passenger beside me a young man was over served by the flight attendant and became extremely inebriated so that when I tried to ignore him and sleep, he kept touching me, rubbing my arm and leg. The crew were aware of what was happening and tried to reprimand him. It made my flight extremely difficult and it was all because the flight attendant served him doubles of whiskey (which the passenger was drinking neat) on six occasions, two bottles of red wine and that does not include the doubles the passenger procured for himself from other attendants. In all the behaviour of this passenger made my flight a complete nightmare and it was totally unnecessary for him to be served this much alcohol."

Pros: "Pros..Communication was excellent, we knew our flight was delayed hours in advance so we could prepare, they rerouted our connection so we didn't have to worry about that on arrival, and the onboard crew was excellent and caring. They helped a family to sit together by asking for volunteers to move, and they helped me locate my daughter who had been delayed by a problem with gate check in. The flight was smooth and we all arrived safely."
Cons: "The seats in economy were extremely cramped, there was no legroom and I don't know how tall people could fit in there. There is no way a person could get out of his or her seat to go to the bathroom without making the others in the row stand up and get in the aisle and that's pretty uncomfortable to do on an overnight flight when people are sleeping."

Rude Brit behind me kicking and pushing my chair because like 90% of the other passengers I reclined my chair on this overnight flight and he took that as a personal affront. Not the airlines fault I had the only jackass on the flight directly behind me, but impactful none the less."

Pros: "The crew s oustanding. They were courteous, helpful, very professional and made the flying experience a pleasure for my family. With respect to the Miami ticket agents, there are 3 people I want to highlight for excellent service. Denise, who courteously accommodated our family and rescheduled our flight as needed, another young lady who checked us in. She was sensitive to our party of 5 and was extremely pleasant. The check in process was chaotic at best and she helped make it a pleasant experience. The person is Diane, the manager at the Miami airport. She helped bring order to a completely disorganized check in process and ended up personally escorting us through security toe sure that we made our flight on time. Diane is an excellent leader."
Cons: "The check in process was completely disorganized, due to a cancelled flight from Miami to Heathrow the night before. And there were 3 scheduled flights already that people were checking in for as well. There had to have been at least 600+ people in line to check in, plus those from the night before. The Miami airport doesn't have kiosks for passengers to easily check in and bag drop, which doesn't make sense in such a large and busy international airport. That would have made a huge difference in this case. Also, we paid for our seats to select them prior to 24 hours and we ended up not sitting together."

When you plugged headphones in there was an awful noise that prevented you from hearing anything from the movie/show. Considering this was a transatlantic flight, the plane should have been better. We were also delayed due to maintenance that needed to be done on the flight. Luckily London was my last stop so I was not late for anymore flights but a lot of people on the plane were. I was very disappointed and will be disappointed again if my return flight has the same issues."

The older 767 from Heathrow to Athens was MUCH more spacious and comfortable. I can't afford business class and certainly not first class. Economy has been squeezed beyond logical levels. Good was so so. Not to my taste. The chicken with mashed potatoes was rubbery and mashed didn't even taste like potatoes. Other than that, trip was on time. So that helped."

The other lady also came across rude to me when she said "You have to speak up becasue I cant hear you!"- sorry, English is not my first language but I think the polite way should have been "Sorry m'am I could not hear you, could you please spak up?" - entertainment needs better selection"

There is no complimentary food service, even water is charged."
Cons: "I stopped at the Iberia check-in at Barajas in Madrid. They sent me to BA check-in, where I waited 45 minutes to find out that I should be at Iberia check-in. Then, Iberia check-in had to send me to last minute clerk or I would have missed my flight. Last minute check-in ended up being the same place and same clerk I began with."
Cons: "A porter checked our bags at the gate without asking us whether we were traveling beyond London, so the bags were never transferred to the transatlantic flight nor did they arrive in SF. It wasn't necessary to check them because there was plenty of room in the overhead bins when we got on the flight. We immediately asked a flight attendant to help when I realized they might not go through and he said he spoke to someone who caught and tagged the bags to go through, but it still didn't happen. It would have been easier if he had just brought them to us on the plane. Another women's bag was taken with all her baby supplies and bottles in it for a 16-hour travel day. Very frustrating for all of us."

To put this in perspective this was the most uncomfortable I have ever been on an airplane. My legs hurt the whole flight. This was the first leg of an expensive international flight and given the price of the 2 legs I should have been upgraded to a more comfortable seat. My flight to Europe on Iberia was excellent. Cons: "There was bad weather which understandably caused delays, however the communication during this eventual 16 hour delay was horrendous. We were told for the first two hours that we would be delayed each hour and then they would make a decision to delay another hour. This went on for 4 hours (the last two hours of which we did not receive any updates). The flight was originally scheduled to leave at 8:10. At 12:30am we were told our plane was at the gate and being prepared for us to board and the agent giving announcements said we were "guaranteed to leave TONIGHT". At 1am we were told that unfortunately the plane got to the gate just a bit too late and not the crew are not legally allowed to fly and the flight would be pushed back until 8am. At the time, I thought 7 hours was strange and I'd assume the crew would need more like 8-10 hours to rest. Unfortunately because we were told so late, all hotels were booked up. I live in NYC and would've gone home for the night however because we needed to be back by 6am (what the agent suggested), there seemed no point in leaving. We were not provided with any pillows or blankets until 4 in the morning. At 6am the next morning, we were told the crew needed "more rest time" and that our new departure time would be 9:30. How is it that the crew now needs more time? Shouldn't that have been figured out at 1am? Before we board, one of the agents thinks they will "lighten the mood" with the following comment - "Who would've thought a little bad weather would've caused this?" Absolutely not a time for jokes and people were very angry. We finally board for what we think is finally a 9:30am take off. No - now two new issues - 1, the co pilot is late (LATE? how can you be late when a flight has been delayed 16 hours) and 2, they needed to remove package from the plane for people who were no longer taking this flight. In the end, we took off around 11:30am which messed up a lot of peoples connecting flights, pick ups at the airport, etc. I will never fly this airline again."

Do yourself a favor and find a flight on this aircraft. From takeoff to landing, there was never a question about our safety and comfort, and the sleek, organic aesthetic of the dream liner somehow met a new standard for both ergonomy and tech/entertainment. I especially found the sub ports in my personal screen useful."

I had to spend the night stuck in the Toronto airport with nowhere to safely sleep and my late arrival meant the entire first day of my long planned vacation was ruined. I was supposed to get to my destination around 10 in the morning, instead I arrived around one in the morning the next day. All I got from Air Canada for this trouble was a $10 meal voucher for airport restaurants that cost $25 and were closed during my stay."

Cons: "Seat size made sitting a suffering, as I am quite tall, and was unwilling to pay the extra $100 dollars, which I felt discriminatory (as I have no control over how tall I am)."

Cons: "Being next to toilets at bulkhead. People queing for bathroom in the extra leg space. I was on the outside seat and people constantly brushed past me and often grabbed hold of the moveable TV set in the dark to steady themselves knocking it. I paid extra money and had more problems. Listened to constant bathroom flushing and odors. Not ideal!"
Pros: "Entertainment choices on this flight/with this plane were endless, and you didn't have to pay extra for them like you do with Condor, for instance. The seats were relatively comfortable, in comparison to the way you are packed into some planes these days. Particularly liked the headrests that were adjustable side to side. It helped in this particular case the flight wasn't completely full, and so I had the seat next to me free."

Cons: "Please, Toronto: if you're going to have two planes scheduled to depart at the same time, DON'T put them right next to each other. We boarded at the same time as an Air Canada Rouge flight to Dublin, and not only was it chaos trying to figure out which line you were in, but the staff working the London side of the desk weren't paging over the loudspeaker which group was next to board. It was a mess."
Cons: "Because the flight was delayed, the car rental company let the car go to another customer. A substitute was provided after another 2 hour wait."

Cons: "The fact that they tried bumping me from my flight without giving a reason. My connector flight (also an Air Canada flight) was delayed so much in Detroit that we got to Toronto with just enough time to board and deal with the bumping issue. Also, my luggage was already on the plane to head to London which noone was worried about if they wouldn't have been able to get me a seat. There was little communication between staff members and nobody seemed bothered by this especially with a late arriving plane that they should have known about and had a way to deal with this issue. The crew on the plan keep bumping into me even though I wasn't in the aisle and never apologized. Totally would give a zero or 1 star (at best if it would let me). Totally will not recommend to anyone and will try to not fly with them again if possible."

Cons: "Once in Toronto couldn't find anyone at the gate counter, flight delayed for 2 hours ( suppose to load at 11:15 and didn't even start loading tell 12:30). The flight didn't push from gate till 2am and flight crew kept saying that we were ahead of schedule. Poor service of the five different airlines I have flown"
Pros: "Wasnt a terrible amout of leg room for coach, and they had Star Wars: The Force Awakens as one of the in flight movies. Food was okay, although they didn't serve it until 1a.m. which was a bit annoying. Good service, very kind workers, and the alcohol was free! Not too many complaints."

Pros: "Been flying Air Canada trans-Atlantic since 2005 and must say that the airline has maintained its service and quality if not improved. Except for food all aspects were good from check in to boarding to inflight service!"
