Pros: "JAL lounge at Haneda was the best I've ever been in. The Business Class configuration is terrific -- as private as can be on an airplane, without going First. And the JAL staff, on the ground as well as in the air, are Grade A diplomats, counselors, and -- in a word -- professionals. Which is sorely lacking in US air carriers, who don't seem to understand that air travel is a service industry, and to excel in a service industry, PEOPLE are most important to the customers. Specifically, having enough people: US airline employees are well-trained professionals too, but "corporate" consistently under-hires/deploys, which leaves employees juggling far too much at once, which degrades the service experience for the customer. Yeah, I get "the bottom line," but service industry customers will always go to businesses that offer better service. Ok, rant over. JAL is tops."

I tried a month later but the problem was not solved. They foward any problems and inquiries to reservation center but calling the number won't find anyone to talk. I have food allergy and tried to request for special meals but the option was not there under my eticket number as described in their website. They say the option may not be available because I purchased my ticket from 3rd party, not from JAL or it was code share flight. Very inconvenient. I had to skip 2 meals out of 3in leaving for Japan. I got very hungry at the end of the flight...."

The flight was apparently overbooked but than at the last minute, they gave me and my girlfriend seats separated from each other. I sat in the back, she sat in front. The tickets also had trouble scanning and kayak isn't a known agency."

Pros: "With Japan Airlines, there is never a doubt in my mind they are going to be the best airline of choice. I was running late to my flight into Haneda to fly out to Singapore. I literally arrived to the front desk 15 minutes before the plane departed. The ladies at the front desk were very aware of my urgency and walked me threw the crew line and got me to my gate without a missed flight. I cannot thank you enough for the kind and generous work you do."

No seat assignment. Was put in the absolute last seat in the plane. Flight was delayed because of an electrical issue which also broke the AC until we were taxi-ing. It was hot.

So they let the passengers be crammed together in the rest of the plane and left numerous empty seats that could have been used! It’s was just rude. They also served drinks and never checked back to pick up the garbage. Didn’t tell us to raise our seats or put up our table trays before landing. So, as I exited the plane I handed them my garbage! I wasn’t going to be rude and leave it in the seat pocket or my seat …where I found crumbs of food on when I boarded the plane. Was just very dissatisfied with this crew!! I have been flying a lot lately using delta. I’ve had some delays but they’ve always been accommodating, this crew was not! What a shame!"

It has been my experience in the past that those with impaired mobility are assisted in deplaning AFTER the other passengers have deplaned. This only makes sense. Also, baggage handling was slow compared with my previous experiences. Seemed to be a hard landing."

If a passenger is taller than average, and the flight is more than 60 minutes, provide comfortable seating at no extra charge. If a customer has a short layover, which their system knows about since it is the sourve of the flight plans, put the customer toward the front of the aircraft since these flights are habitually late and customers end up having to sprint through airports to try to make connections."

For 20 minutes crew stood around in the airport talking to each other and using their cellphones. No information was given for the delay and the plane was boarded at time of departure. This careless and unbothered attitude resulted in a missed connecting flight for my partner and I. We were completely unassisted by crew on the plane and ended up having to wait 24hours for our next flight home. Absolutely disgusted by the service provided from Cluj to Munich. I would seriously consider another airline before booking again with Lufthansa for this route."

If I would have known that beforehand, I would not have purchased my ticket through AA.com. During my original online booking, the screen said JAL service from NRT to DFW. Just about everything was bad about my American Airlines flight. I travel to and from America several times a year from Asia. Each time I travel, I swear I will never fly an American based airline for the trans-Pacific portion of my flight. My latest experience with American Airlines only reinforces that resolution. The in-cabin crew is (and I'm being nice) pathetic! They are veteran flight attendants and they look and act like they could care less about the customers on the flight. Frankly, I'm just downright disgusted with the service and personalities of the American crew's attitude. They act like they are old and tired, uninterested in quality service, and that we (the passengers) are an imposition upon their life. For example, mid-flight, I walk to the back of the airplane for something to drink, instead of assisting me they point to a "station" at the Emergency Exit door stocked with random drinks and snacks. While they are chit-chatting, looking at their smartphones and reading newspapers, books, and Kindle-type devices. That has never happened on an Asian-based airline flight. Another example, in-flight food service, the cabin crew members are waking people up to serve food and, instead of being gentle and cordial, they are rude and impatient. My 2 row mates were both Asian, and because of being awakened and the ambient noise in the aircraft, they could not hear what the flight attendant was asking. So, with a tone of impatience and disrespect, the flight attendant virtually shouted at them their choices for the meal. Whatever happened to the "customer is always right" or the "customer is king"? My renewed resolution: I will no longer fly American-based (because Delta is even worse) airlines to and from Asia. If needed, I will pay the higher fees and fares to fly anyone of a number of Asian-based carriers. It is worth it for the 24 hours it takes me to cross the Pacific. I am sick and tired of the begrudged and entitled attitude of the archaic cabin crews of American-based airlines."

United is inconveniencing customers without any justification."

Cons: "After a long journey in Japan, flying United back to the U.S. was a rude awakening. Their crew has no regard for the manners or respect in Japanese society. I was sitting in an exit row aisle behind a restroom in economy. The staff kept bumping into me and my entertainment system as they tried to rush up and down the aisles. Really taking a breath and walking more slowly could have resolved this. At one point, the staff almost caught my arm between my seat and their rolly cart. The plane was old and in disrepair. My neighbor's entertainment system screen needed to be propped up with duct tape. The seats are stiff and uncomfortable, and the headrests are designed so that if you have a U head support, it will collide with the headrest and curve your back into a C. Some staff could use a refresher on basic Japanese. One flight attendant kept asking everyone "US Citizen or 日本語?" which means Japanese Language. Those are not mutually exclusive questions for many bilingual flyers. I usually tolerate airplane food, but this was the first meal I could not eat on a plane. It was eggs and hash browns, and it was so mushy and salty, I decided to pass. The bathrooms dirty quickly, and are a disappointment compared to the amenities provided on your basic Asian carrier. No toothbrush. No hand lotion. Just soap. We left Narita after 5 pm, and were served this weird dinner breakfast meal. Six hours later (of a 12 hour flight) it was about 11 pm in Tokyo, and 7 am in the destination city of Houston. Might as well get back to American schedules? I don't know, but when I was naturally getting tired and putting on my sleepmask and earplugs to get some rest, a rude flight attendant kept asking me if I wanted breakfast or orange juice, shoving items in front of me (with one hand, a no-no in Japanese culture), and repeatedly asking me despite me shaking my head no. I really don't know where they hired these people. My bag got held up by customs in Houston, and United transfered it to a third party courier service who tried to call me at 1 am to deliver it. That was a bit later than I expected, and I missed the call. The next day, I tried to call the driver, who hung up on me! I called their customer support, who was unable to contact the driver or the delivery service. Just who did they hand my bags to? Thankfully, after an 18 hour wait, I got my bags back, but it was a stressful wait. Throw a dart at a list of Asian airlines, they're all better than United."

When we brought this up we were told only the gate agent could adjust. Although at the time there were seats together they were "economy plus." Not surprisingly the gate agent was very rude when we approached her with the issue, insinuated it was our fault, that we were extra trouble for traveling with 2 small children, and that we may have to be bumped. We were finally accommodated at the last second but it was unneeded stress. Also several flight attendants gave us a hard time for bringing aboard our infant car seat despite the fact it is FAA approved and we bought a seat for it and it is the current recommendation of the FAA to do so."

On my original booking, I had chosen my seat to be a window, but when they rebooked me they put me in a middle seat even though there was a completely empty row in front of me. Then, to top everything off, they forced me me check my rollerboard carry-on because they said there was no more room on the plane, but when I got on I could see multiple spaces were still available. Another passenger and I were left to wait nearly 5 minutes on the jetway while the gate counter rep went to print our checked luggage tags. I asked the stewardess why I had to check mine even though there was plenty of space, and she said "it's hard to tell sometimes how much room we're going to have left." She also didn't offer any apology. All in all it was a terrible experience. I had to wait unnecessarily at various points of the travel process, had to endure a layover that was more than double what I had planned for, was forced to check my carry-on at the gate, and worst of all I missed a really important meeting. United obviously does not care at all about economy customers. Don't trust this airline! Book on Southwest or JetBlue - they actually care about customer retention!"

Outrageous. I have flown almost 2 million miles on United but this ugly inexcusable incident gives me serious doubts about this airline's true character."
Pros: "The entertainment was okay although the controls were having some issues since they weren't working properly"
Cons: "The unfriendliness of some of the crew. We were given ice cream and it came with a wood spoon however I am allergic to wood utensils and asked one of the crew members if they could provide me with a plastic spoon or a plastic fork and he just ignored me and I had to go all the way in the back to ask to another crew member for a plastic utensil."
Cons: "Both flights were INCREDIBLY delayed. First, the flight from San Jose was delayed 1.5 hours because they were "waiting for the aircraft." After everybody finally boarded the plane an announcement was made that somehow the luggage crew had damaged the cargo hold, and that everybody would have to deplane. It would take 45 minutes for maintenance crew to arrive to assess the situation. People got up, got their luggage out of the overhead bins, and started moving to the front of the plane. The pilot then came back on the intercom and told everyone they would have to return to their seats. Roughly an hour later we finally took off. It would have been the decent thing to do to AT LEAST offer the passengers something (i.e. comp drinks or snacks), but the cheapskates at United DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE. Multiple people missed their connections. Fast forward to IAH--> SAT. Another late flight. This time, everybody boarded the plane only to be informed that due to a problem with the plane's computer everybody would have to sit on the plane while they "rebooted" its computers. This was done TWICE. UNITED AIRLINES, GET IT TOGETHER. There is a very good reason you are consistently ranked one of the WORST US-flagged carriers, which makes you one of the MOST HATED AIRLINES ON THE PLANET. I really and truly pray that the US airlines and their lobbyists lose their battle to prevent foreign flagged carriers from operating within the US, because you all deserve to go bankrupt."

Cons: "Our gate was changed multiple times with absolutely terrible communication. The computer system had gone yet and everything seems extremely disorganized. There were even flyers getting on the plane to TX when they were traveling to other destinations because of the lack of communication and the crew not throughly checking. The seating was the smallest space in all of the other airlines I have flown. The crew was less than friendly and yelling down the aisle about buying snacks and other drinks although it was a late night flight and many people were sleeping. Overall, it was an uncomfortable and frustrating experience. Luckily the flight crew had a smooth flight and got us safely to San Antonio. Only positive about the experience with United. This was all taking place along with our flight being delayed with out the monitors at the airport being updated and no notification via text or the United app."

Cons: "After having several flights with international airlines while in Thailand for the last 2 weeks, it was quite a disappointment to spent 12 hours on this UA flight. There was a 6-8 hour period during our flight were flight attendants did not ask or even consider walking the isles and asking the passengers if they needed any water or anything else. During several flights in Thailand, the attendants were constantly catering to every passengers' needs. The difference between the flight attendants from Bangkok to Tokyo compared to Tokyo to DC was worlds apart. The Japanese attendants were as friendly as ever and took care of all the passengers needs. The flight attendants were flat out rude. There was once event on this flight that I could not believe. A child of 5-7 years old had to go to the restroom with his mother. The flight attendant was collecting trash from our meal. Even though she knew the child was behind her and needed to go to the restroom, she would not stop collecting trash, move her cart so that the boy and his mother could get to the restroom. Instead, she continued collecting trash and made the boy wait until she was done. I feel embarrassed for the foreigners who were on this flight and this was their first impression of America and Americans. The main meal that was served was a breaded chicken patty served with a slurry of questionable gravy, rice, and a roll. I received better food on multiple 1 hour flights while in Thailand. The comfort level was what you would expect from most American airlines-tight and cramped. I will never book with United for another international flight."
Pros: "The flight took off on time and landed early. Well done in the flight deck!"
Cons: "The quality of the food served (in economy) on this flght was far below what is normaly expect from United (which isn't much!). If this is United's new meal service for trans-Pacific flights then Delta may be a better option for future "cattle class" flights... The flight was fully booked in all classes. The flight attendants were lazy, at best, and I seriously question their training and competence. I travel this route on a regular basis, every three months, and I've never experienced such poor quality of service from United."
Pros: "Boarding process was without hiccups and the on-board entertainment was relevant with many entertaining titles and new releases."
Cons: "The on-board crew was serviceable at a maximum. Compared to my Nippon Airways flight from Taipei to Tokyo, the crew onboard United was cold and curt. The food was also consistently passable at best. I've always experienced far better food on other airlines for international flights."
