KAYAK’s top tips for finding a cheap flight from Louisville to London

  • Most carriers operating flights from Louisville International Airport (SDF) to London Heathrow (LHR) have a single stopover. American Airlines stop at Boston Logan (BOS), O'Hare Intl Airport (ORD), or Charlotte Douglas Airport (CLT), while United connects via Dulles Airport (IAD). If you wish to land at London Gatwick (LGW), you might have two stopovers at Atlanta Airport (ATL) and John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK).
  • Suppose your physique prevents you from sitting in a single seat. You can get more personal space for better comfort while on the route SDF-IAD-FRA-LCY, often operated by Lufthansa. Consider reserving an empty adjacent seat with the airline. However, you can only pay the extra fee at the check-in counter on your departure date.
  • You only need a visa to fly to London if you plan to stay in the United Kingdom for over six months. You'll get a visa vignette or sticker on your passport at the airport's immigration office. To extend your business trip or vacation for another six months, complete the UK visa renewal form, pay the applicable fees, and book an appointment at any UKVCAS office for biometrics.
  • British Airways is one of the best airlines for wheelchair users. If you have a mobility issue, you can specify the type of assistance you need when booking your flight. Special assistance includes basic wheelchair assistance and full-service- luggage storage and retrieval, boarding and alighting the aircraft, and chair aid to move around the cabin.
  • Children through age 17 are automatically subject to unaccompanied minor protocols, and the standard unaccompanied minor fee is charged where applicable. With United Airlines, the service is available for kids between 5 and 14 and is optional for the age bracket 15-17. When booking tickets for kids traveling alone, inform the airline who will drop them off at SDF and pick them up from the arrival airport in London.

Free & relatively fast Wi-Fi. Would've liked a wider drink selection.

I continue to be satisfied with Delta’s excellent service out of LGA. The digit id works well and gets me through security in no time. Whenever possible, I choose Delta.

Was revoked with Jet Blue due to delay from Kenya Air

The Boarding process was great. Particularly since my wife and I require assistance. The flight attendants were amazing. We travel frequently; they honestly were a cut above. 😀

Enjoyed it very much. Especially liked the free WiFi that Delta offers.

Smooth flight. Left on time, and got in 15 minutes early. Onboard video was great

For some reason, TSA Atlanta didn’t have my bag on the flight on time and they don’t have to provide Delta a reason for that.

WiFi didn’t work on two of four planes. Flight attendants were not overly friendly or welcoming. Planes were extremely slow to board and deplane.

Delta does a great job with entertainment and free wifi. I can still be in touch with my colleagues while in the air.

Seat pitch is horrible especially on the 15 hour flight. Gate crew at SFO was Outstanding. The flight crew was also great.

Easy of boarding, helpfully staff at check in, surprisingly comfortable seating

Check in was chaotic with only one counter for business class and first class. The luggage conveyor belt at JFK airport was broken so the flight departure was delayed which made the flight stressful as I had a tight connection. Although the captain said they could make up the delay, they didn’t do so.

Had a one hour delay due to mechanical issue. I didn’t think I’d be able to make my connecting flight, but they waited for me and greeted me when I arrived to help things run smooth.

Lost of requested seat assignments. Lost my husband's meal choice

6 1/2 hours from Tampa to SFO on a Boeing 737. Cramped. No Service. No real food. One pass for coffee at the beginning and a second pass THREE hours later. And check-in in Tampa was nasty even by United standards. And I am at almost TWO million miles on United. It's a non-stop. But terrible service.

MY FAMILY'S LUGGAGE WAS LOST FROM ROME TO BARI. I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT RECEIVED MY LUGGAGE FROM ROME TO BARI. AFTER DEPLANING IN BARI, WE WASTED A LOT OF TIME AT BAG CLAIMS LOST AND FOUND REPORTING THE CLAIM AND PLEADING FOR THE BAGS TO BE DELIVERED THE NEXT DAY. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT TAKES 3 DAYS MINIMUM TO DELIVER. MY DAUGHTER AND MY GIRLFRIEND NEEDED THEIR PERSONAL THINGS AND WE WERE STAYING 3 HOURS AWAY FROM THE BARI AIRPORT. WE HAD TO DRIVE 3 HOURS TO THE AIRPORT TO COLLECT OUR LOST LUGGAGE THE NEXT DAY. WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE EXPERIENCE

We had a delay, but thankfully I made it to my connection. Overall it went smooth

The flight had a delay but I made it to my connection. Flight was smooth overall

As I wrote earlier, poor planning and/or communication. At least twice, we were told that we would be boarding in less than ten minutes, only to have the flight again delayed at least another hour.

It's a long flight and that is always difficult. I was comfortable and well. The movies available were great and the crew was good.

Premium Economy Good crew, good service, excellent food. Seat back screen just not bright enough.

Flight was delayed an no one cares, or try to help passengers to get the conexión.

Our flight was cancelled while we are on our way to the airport. So, no notice. We were rescheduled to another airline with a 2 hour later takeoff and so arrived at our destination on time. We pre-paid American Airlines $190 to upgrade our seats. No refund. So no use for AA or Kayak.

Terrible, horrible, disappointing- without telling us they changed planes and moved and separated our seats to opposite sides - said they changed seats putting us together - got to airport to find no, they did not - we sat opposing sides of plane - food overly salty to inedible, never saw stewardess but once - it was terrible

The business class layout of chairs was weired. You are sitting directly across stranger.,

We did not have enough time to make our connecting flight. As a result, we were put onto a different airline for our second leg. The different airline was NOT comparable to British Airlines, and our arrival was significantly delayed. The actual flight on BA was amazing.

Tv screens and movie selection v good. Friendly staff. They were really worried about max capacity and room for carryons. That is never fun but i had no problem finding space when I boarded.

My flight to London from Philadelphia was cancelled due to weather.

Disliked having to wait a little longer to disembark from the plan when we landed in London

3.5 hr delay leaving Pittsburgh, notifications for which were incomplete and untimely. Connecting flight was automatically switched to one requiring more than a 30 hour layover! After waiting in a long queue, customer service reduced layover to 11 hours and also set up an earlier standby. The standby had empty seats, but the gate agent couldn't change our tickets! On top of all that my luggage was lost and has yet to even be located, much less returned 5 (FIVE!) days later. Too bad there's no rating below poor.

Canceled flight late London to Florence. Help at airport very poor. Treated poorly. Had to sleep in the airport. Lost bags- still do not have them. Horrible. I should be reimbursed!

The seats are extra cramped if you are taller than 5’8! Spring for the extra legroom seats for sure if you have a long flight!

Very disappointed with British Airways. It has been over 24 hours and I still have not received my checked baggage or any proper update. Customer support has been unresponsive, making the situation even more frustrating. Poor baggage handling and lack of communication seriously impacted my travel experience.

Flight was good but temp in the cabin was cold.

I like American Airlines and their safety record. They provide quality service and a feel safe enough to prefer American Airlines over other carriers even if I have to pay a little more.

Cancelled flight and re booked seats were a downgrade. British Airways said the upgrade was t available but when I checked it was but then they wouldn’t make it right

Boarding was orderly, pilot and flight attendants were nice, entertainment options were good, and low sodium meals were quite tasty.

The whole experience was excellent, O can say out from Miami the best airline to travel with for any European destination. Since the ground staff to the inflight crew attention was great, service on board 10 of 10. Finally the 380 is very confortable and nice to travel.

All crew except 1 were excellent. When I asked assistance with business class seat conversion to a bed (not being familiar as never used before but have numerous times with other airlines) crew member helped very reluctantly. I should have told her that business class seat conversion is totally different in each airline such as Delta, New Zealand Air and United. Sorry it was my 1st time with America Airlines. Now I know, I won't bother asking assistance in future.
