I paid $150 for an Uber at 4 pm. At 6:37, I got an email with news of a two hour delay. I would’ve appreciated an earlier notice. But much worse was the boarding experience. As half the passengers had boarded, someone announced that we had to have everyone boarded and seated in 5 minutes, or else the crew would time out, and we’d have to stay in WPalm. This set off a frenzy, with seated passengers yelling at the people boarding to hurry!! I was told by the pilot while exiting in LGA, that we made it by 30 seconds! It could’ve been handled so much better!"

Staff were loud throughout this evening flight where everyone tried to get some shut eye. NOT kid friendly. overhead bins didn't fit the standard carry on correctly requiring everyone to place them sideways with wasted space and therefore not enough luggage room for everyone, crowding an already fully booked flight. Cons: "Plane was diverted back to Toronto from LaGuardia airport as we were told due to "weather", landed late at night and were told that due to not being able to control weather WestJet could not assist with accommodations, leaving everyone stranded and scrambling to find a room in alreday booked up hotels. When speaking on phone with agent, I was told it wasn't due to weather but incident at LaGuardia where plane went off runway. I paid $130.00 for 5 hours in a hotel, due to pilot error, not weather. La Guardia opened it's other runway immediately after and other airports in NewYork were running fine. Completely unacceptable and extremely bad customer service as CSR simply told us "sorry we can't help". Will never book with West Jet again."

Ewr staffing had us waiting on the tarmac for 30 min dor a marshaller and someone to get the jetway to the door. Not Turkish Airlines fault on that one. Seating in economy was tighter than previous flights. An older A-330 was our plan. 6’1” with long legs, had to put my feet in the aisle for most of the flight due to lack of space

On the other hand, having a pleasant and respectful flight crew can make a tremendous difference in the passengers experience. We were lucky enough to have a flight attendant named Gulhan Who smiled the entire flight. She was professional, courteous, and service oriented. Most of the flight crew showed similar professionalism. Turkish Airlines had for better service then any of the American or European airlines I have encountered during the last 10 years."

There a lot of nice shops, including Duty Free. One annoying thing was the large number of airport employees using these motorized transports, I.e. wheelchairs, bipeds, tricycles, etc, going at high speed. If you don't get out of their way they will run you over!"

Cons: "By the time they reached my row (37), they had run out of lemonade, chicken dinner, and even customs card. That was poor stocking. The service was mediocre at best. When I asked for beer and a cup of water, the female flight attendant ignored my request and just gave me water. Chicken entree had run out. When I pointed out that I do not eat beef, I was given a half-eaten special-order vegetarian tray: the salad, dessert, bread were all missing. I had to ask again for the rest of the contents of the tray and the male flight attendant was none too happy. So much so that, come breakfast time, he deliberately skipped serving me breakfast - he served the people on both my sides, and just walked away without so much as an explanation. That is rude and obnoxious behavior not becoming of anyone in the service profession."

Cons: "The transfer was a horrible, stressful experience. We knew it as a short connection but Lufthansa had accepted it. On our outward bound flight three weeks earlier, we were all met and escorted swiftly by a flight attendant from the first leg plane (EWR-MUN) to the second leg plane (MUN-Nice) to ensure that we all made it onboard. Impressive. On our return journey, no such luck! No attendant to meet us, and a huge line at immigration, full of panicked and stressed-out passengers jockeying for position, with no-one from ANY airline there to do a triage for those with the shortest connections. Ridiculous. In addition, the passport-scanning machines were very slow and quirky. My own passport was rejected because there was no evidence I had passed through Munich on my outward bound journey!! RIDICULOUS. I managed to slip through to a human being and begged the immigration officer to let me go through with my husband, who had had no such problem. The officer told me he could not find a stamp from my earlier transit through!!! Eventually I suppose he did because he let me through. The stamp was there, I found it, but it had been sloppily applied and was half off the page...hence the rejection by the scanner. We made the flight by minutes. NOT GOOD! Surely Lufthansa could do better in their own country???"

FAA require Disability access by Disabilities Act. 4) Amenities kit - worst I have seen in all the airlines I have traveled. 5) Snack bar - No selection, just small chocolate, water and orange juice. Even economy planes like Jet Blue have better selection. German people are getting used to mediocrity and I am surprised. World class airline with cheap customer side product. Don't cut costs on things that customers see, touch and eat. To add to that, my mother in law is handicapped. When transferring her to the gate, they took her in a bus and did not strap the wheel chairs next to her chair. All of them fell on her - YES! THEY ALL FELL FROM A HEIGHT ON A HANDICAPPED PERSON WHO HAS ARTHRITIS AND IN PAIN ALL THE TIME. Damaged her knee joints. This is why we travel business class - and they hurt her more than if we took her our selves."

We ended up in an airport hotel where we caught four hours' sleep before returning to the airport. Newark airport is the worst I've ever experienced. Getting our passports stamped took more than an hour. There were five officials there to clear five or six hundred U.S. passport holders. Then, the TSA people were rude, inefficient, and achingly slow. Overall, it was a horrible experience."

As an example I fell asleep during take off and woke up in the middle of the meal service. The cart was only a couple of rows behind me in the half-ful Economy Plus section so I got up and tried to get the attention of the staff. The lady turned around and confirmed that "I had woken up" with a sigh, as is not only was it inconvenient to her that I was a sleep, now I had the nerves to actually ask for a meal. She presented me with the options of pasta and chicken and I politely asked what they where served with. She straight out said that "she really did not know that" and asked me to make a choice. I wont get into any other examples, the machine was half full at best and there was no stress, so frustrating to be treated like you are an inconvenience to the USA based staff who clearly just wanted to be left alone. The entertainment system barely worked, the touch monitor was very hard to operate - the pressure sensitive functionality was not working properly but I managed to get to my movie and avoid the Chinese subtitles in the third try. I fly United because it's part of Star Alliance, but otherwise I would try and avoid at all cost."

The airport had to close due to an emergency, that's out of Lufthansa's hands I obviously understand that. However, the way we were "helped" through all of this was unbelievable- over two and a half hours of phone calls with them, while in Europe (so paying God knows what per minute), 4 hours to get my luggage back so we could leave, absolutely no one from Lufthansa around to help or even tell us what's going on, put us on a flight the following day with two layovers now (paid more for only one layover but what can I do). Next day, at Alitalia gate (Lufthansa put me on an itinerary with flights from Alitalia, Lufthansa and United) had to pay AGAIN to check the bag that I had just paid to check the previous day where we did not end up flying anywhere (showed Alitalia the receipt, they didn't care in the slightest and said its Lufthansas problem, 0 stars for them as well), either way finally got through our 2 layovers, only to discover the final leg of our trip (United/ Lufthansa flight) is delayed 3 hours. Just about to board, now it's delayed another 5 hours. Because we were short a pilot...... Short a pilot, really....? Ended up getting home at 2am on a work night, completely jet lagged and utterly exhausted from being in an airport for 2 straight days. Supposed to get compensation as per United flight crew, only I put my ticket information in the website and it doesn't work for me of course because I have a Lufthansa ticket. No one cares, no one helps, now it's time for Amex to step in and get all of my money back."

Cons: "There were many empty seats in the economy plus section. Once in flight passengers were offered an upgrade but it was still about 300 dollars. I understand that if the price for an upgrade dropped once in flight people would just wait until then to upgrade. However, I think something should be done differently somehow. If economy plus is frequently not full then please consider refiguring your planes to give regular economy just a bit more space, even an inch or two would make it nicer. At the end of our flight the passenger behind me was crying because of pain in her jaw and face. The flight attendants were very attentive, and did all the right things. Except they advised the passenger to see a dentist before her flight home. They should know that sinus pressure, or pain from a sinus infection, can feel like a tooth problem. Just FYI. A suggestion to visit an urgent care center that day would be more appropriate. An urgent care center would be able to take care of sinus problems (she sat behind me for a transatlantic flight I can tell you she had some). An urgent care center would also be able to refer her to another provider as needed."

That info should be more obvious - not on a card deep in the seat back pocket. Overall, it was obvious that this was an older aircraft and needs to be overhauled or retired."
Pros: "Lufthansa is one of the better airlines, especially when flying to Germany. They offer a very good service in the economy class which includes free wine (and not only sodas) and a large selection of free newspapers which I value a lot. Newspapers are much more interesting to read than watching movies in my personal opinion. Overall, when aboard Lufthansa, one does not have the feeling of cheapness seen so often on competing airlines. A few years ago, when flying from San Diego to New York, a 5 hour flight on a major US carrier, passengers were not even offered a free drink. Everything had to be paid for. In comparison, all food and all drinks are free on Lufthansa which includes not only wine but also Baileys (a sweet liquor). Given the excellent service, ticket prices charged by Lufthansa are a bargain even if at a small premium over the competition."

So we arrived later about 50 minutes so I had to manage my situation and find my next gate and be on time. And an other thing that I disliked was that I was allowed to have only one baggage which was very unusual for international flight between two countenances. And the crew was not polite enough so she made fun of my Cary-on. In short, I expected more from KLM which is famous for them being "Royal" but not acting as one of them."
