Pros: The crew was nice. I had the front seats ehich were super comfortable.
Pros: We took off on time
Pros: But this time everything was organized
Cons: Put the same way that’s its right now each get out by groups
Pros: The plane was on time
Cons: Food was horrible. No drink options.
Pros: In general everything OK
Pros: Crew is always super friendly services are really good.
Cons: Food is not what it is to be,
Cons: Newer aircrafts
Cons: Lots of passenger we were cold we needed a blanket and there were no more .
Pros: My seat wouldn't recline
Pros: Whole flight experience
Cons: The particular seat I was in was horrible.
Cons: The aircraft was to old
Pros: on time
Cons: -none of the seats recline -no trays on the seats
Cons: Uncomfortable flight. Seats too close to each other. Temperature too high.
Cons: Need to be more careful with the time
Pros: Flight was delayed 30 mins
Cons: Got delayed in meeting one hour it too 30 mins to come luggage
Cons: During the takeoff there was a passenger talking on cell phone and the Avianca staff did nothing!
Pros: Avíanca was fine, Kayak is awful
Cons: Flight network are scammers. Will never use Kayak again
Cons: It departed over an hour later
Pros: Generous food and beverage. No 1st checked luggage fee.
Cons: My nonstop flight was anything but. At the San Jose Airport I got one boarding pass, and yet was told the flight was not direct when I inquired to confirm. I did not like that I had to offload some of my belongings out of my checked luggage. This was especially inconvenient as I had to deplane in Guatamala and go through their customs and security procedure all to get on the same plane 3 not so easy to get to gates over. And me with a broken toe, you can see how this would be not fun especially because I did not have any boarding pass or other information even telling me what gate I should be boarding at. It was really a small miracle that another passenger found someone to ask and I overheard the gate #. Stressful.
Pros: The flight attendants were pleasant and professional. Flight attendants in USA can learn a lot from them and realize they are in the hospitality business and should treat their customers accordingly. The entertainment options were also very good on this flight.
Cons: I purchased my ticket a month in advance. I did the 24 hour check-in via their app. I arrived at the over two hours prior to boarding and checked in again. I do everything by the book and as I'm boarding someone is in my seat. Well, after about 10 minutes it is finally resolved in my favor. It's 2018 airlines, work this out!
Pros: Great crew and airplane A320
Cons: Transfer to gate complicated. Have to take a bus. No instruction in English, only Spanish and the employee speaks so fast you cannot get it
Cons: It was late and then I missed my connection, and an Avianca employee told me there was a later flight from LAX to PDX (at 11:45 on AlaskaAir) which I would be put on. However, once I arrived I was told I was on a 6 AM on Delta with no arrangement to get me a hotel or anything. I bought a separate ticket on that 11:45 flight on Alaska Air to PDX instead. Extremely unhappy with this service and will never again use it. I will also tell everyone in my social circles, in person and online, to stop using it.
Cons: We upgraded to business class but it didn’t make up for the old plane. It was loud, old and dirty, the crew was good. It was was a 5+ hour flight and it would have been great to be on a newer plane, which they use for shorter flights.
Pros: I liked the food and caring staff.
Cons: See above + air hostesses speak poor English. When asked to persuade certain travellers to put their seats in the upright position during mealtimes they refused and claimed that it is bussines of mine to arrange for that. In the course of previous flight they have hower required that. Very confusing. The behaviour and performance of the crew was hardly proffesional. They paid little attention e.g. To people who did respect instructions concerning fastening the seat belts orcto remain seated during landing, etc.
Cons: The passengers on this flight from San Salvador to LAX were drunk and standing in the aisles and talking VERY loudly for nearly the duration of the 4.5 hour flight, and the crew did nothing about it. I asked the crew (a grumpy male flight attendant) if they are allowed to do that, and he merely grunted. The female flight attendants smiled at the large men drinking in the aisles and continued to bring them drinks. My boyfriend had a large man's butt in his face for the duration of the flight. Behind us a man was talking very loudly and obnoxiously about his travels to the point where his voice woke us up. The crew did NOTHING to mitigate the obnoxious behavior of the passengers, and allowed them to stand in the aisle for the whole flight, to the point where we felt claustrophobic and invaded upon. We were particularly surprised as we've heard that this violates airline policy AND the crew did nothing to even ask them to sit or to move to the back of the plane. In addition, it was very hot at the AC was not working above our seats.
Pros: The service was great and the plane seats were comfortable. Is great that they provided the tv monitors at every seat.
Cons: There should be more restaurant that offers meals.
Pros: Cabin crew were great.
Cons: Aircraft was too small & old for such a long flight.
Cons: After receiving my luggage in Los Angeles, I discovered that they had broken the zipper of the bag and also the lock in the bag. They also took from my bag gifts I had bought for my friends (lighters with their name)!!
Pros: Avianca is on time, professional, and provides spacious seating options and free checked bags. Yes, they look more expensive than other carriers but in the end they will save you money and hassles.
Pros: Nice crew
Pros: I received a free upgrade on my way back, it was amazing I wish it would happen more often... on the way their I had the worst seat in the plane. The non reclinable back seat
Cons: On the way there my seat was extremely uncomfortable (back non reclining seat)
Pros: I'm embarassed to admit that while I was sitting near my gate the whole plane boarded without my knowing. I thought people were only boarding the plane next to it. So when I finally went up to the desk to ask, the lady looked at me and said that all of the boarding was finished and I was too late. She quickly pulled up the rest of my itinerary on the screen and immediately started re-booking my short domestic flight to the next plane. I didn't have to argue, beg, plead or pay anything. I'm supremely grateful!
Pros: Flight is short.
Cons: The boarding process is really bad, the ground crew does not control the passengers. After passing security it's ok but the transfer process in Bogotá is really horrible... wait to take a bus and take you to a terminal and pass security again is annoying.
Pros: First time flying Avianca. Best experience, Best service everything good. Love it.
Pros: Good food
Cons: Crew was not helpful, too slow for this type of service :(
Pros: The seats and food
Cons: They don't care about their scheduled.
Cons: As I arrived to check in I was notified that I would not be able to fly to San Jose from Colombia because I did not have the yellow fever shot which Costa Rica requires from flights coming from Colombia. Even though I am an American citizen. And when you receive the shot you must stay in Colombia for 10 days before you can leave the country.i don't understand why one is allowed to purchase a ticket from Colombia to Costa Rica without proof of the required vaccination.I didn't even receive a simple notification to receive the vaccination before my trip. Now I am still in Colombia.Already down an extra unexpected $500 and will miss work back in the states for not being able to return home on time.An airbnb reservation will be lost in Costa Rica which was prepaid for 5days.Worst of all I'm stuck in Colombia spending unexpected money to survive and will not be able to visit my PAID trip to Costa Rica.So unfair and a hole I will have to dig myself out of when and if Im able to make it back home
Cons: My flight to Bogota was pushed back from 10pm to 1:30am. This came after several problems (e.g. lost our luggage and cancelled our first flight to cartegena without sending a notification e-mail). We asked to be put on an earlier flight or at least upgraded to be more comfortable and they first lied that there was no more seats. Once we found out there were more seats that they could upgrade us to it became clear they had no customer services and didn't care about the huge inconvenience they had created (I had to miss work the next morning). We also tried talking on the phone once we found out the flight was pushed back and the phone assistance people are unhelpful. In addition, to get a refund they will not help you submit a claim, instead they make it as inconvenient as possible - probably because they mess up so much that they have to make it as hard as possible for people to get money back.
Pros: Before our flight, several people were called to the check-in desk. These were obviously frequent flyers because later we saw these individuals sitting in Executive Class. Felt a little jealous, because I'm not a frequent flyer, but it was nice to see how Avianca takes care of its regular customers. Everything about the flight was first class, even if I was sitting in coach. The staff were friendly and helpful, the plane was comfortable--a 787, everyone's favorite--and the food was actually very tasty: chicken breast with a delicious green curry/salsa, some rice, green salad. Water and juices were available in the aft galley in between the meal and light snack before arrival. The entertainment offerings were terrific. If I hadn't had such great traveling companions to chat with, I would have caught up on some new releases I had missed, or one of the classics--"Singing in the Rain," "Citizen Kane," and much more. I don't know how you could improve the customer experience. Great job, Avianca!
Pros: Flight on time and nice attendants.
Cons: That they would not allow me to choose a seat before 24 hours of departure because the "ticket was too cheap".
Pros: When Taca was managing it was a total disaster: Now under Avianca we experienced great courtesy from the crew, acceptable food and snacks, and prompt service. Taca took the prices to the ceiling and it was a shame to pay 900.00dls for a trip to El Salvador.to make it worst they threw peanuts and soda y our trays, which was poor second class service. It took us almost 10 years to return to Avianca/Taca. but now we are pleased. Definitely your best point is CUSTOMER SERVICE. ( pRICES STILL HIGH). tHANK YOU.
Cons: VOLUME ON THE ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE TOO LOW, AND HARD TO UNDERSTAND BECAUSE THEY RUSH, CREW SHOULD SPEAK SLOW, PAUSED AND CLEAR ON BOTH LANGUAGES, ESPECIALLY IN ENGLISH SO TO MAKE IT UNDERSTANDABLE FOR ALL.
Pros: Service was spectacular and the plane was almost new.
Pros: It's just ok
Pros: The food they served for dinner was enjoyable.
Cons: After arriving in San Salvador from San Jose, another passenger informed us that there was a flight departing for LAX at around 3:30 PM. Considering that our flight was scheduled to depart at 7:25 PM, we decided to ask the customer representative at the Avianca information desk if there were any open seats available on our flight home to LAX. She informed us that there were open seats BUT we would have to pay an extra $200 to board that flight. I have been on other airlines before and they have offered me the option to get on an earlier flight - FREE OF CHARGE. Considering I had bought my complete, round trip ticket for $435, the idea of paying an extra $200 for one leg of my journey seemed ludicrous! So I stayed the 6+ hours in El Salvador. Fast forward 6 hours and the desk agent at our gate announces that our flight is completely booked and they are offering $300 for anyone who will give up their seats. I am PISSED. Avianca knew our flight was overbooked and had the opportunity to take two passengers off the list and free up seats for the next flight! Instead, they chose to make us wait and delayed our flight. I do not understand Avianca's customer service procedures. Why would you not put my friend and I on the next flight when you know the next flight is going to be overbooked and possibly delayed? I'll I know is that if I can avoid flying with Avianca in the future, I will do it.
Cons: I had an original seat that I paid for, but because the flight was overbooked and oversold, i moved three times to different sections towards the back of the plane, in the end where my seat did not have electricity, light, or the tv working. I moved because there was a family that wanted to sit together, and that I completely understand, but what I don't get is why I wasn't told or given a seat of equal value that I Paid for. it was an 8 hour flight without light to read, no tv to watch and no music.
Pros: We were on time!!!
Cons: Love copa
Pros: Never use this airline
Cons: Never use this airline
Pros: nice crew.
Cons: seats were too small and uncomfortable, not possible to lean back much because of a tall passenger behind me. international flights should have better seats.
Pros: Crew was excellent, one snarky attendant—sent me back to my seat, then two other folks went on to get in line for restroom. I didn’t appreciate her tone with me. Just sayin
Cons: The seats are not comfortable for a long flight. They light up pain on my tailbone. I sat on my neck pillow from time to time to get relief.
Pros: Everything aside from the smell seated next to me.
Cons: The person I was seated next to had very very bad body odor. They also urinate on the seat. I had to tell the flight attendant about the spoiled seat that I previously brought to the attention of the caretaker of the individual but she had zero concern. I was on a 7 hour flight having to try and avoid the smell. I had to attempt to eat food trying to avoid that smell. The person in front of my seat was able to smell the body odor and urine. He also warned me about the urine in the seat that I was aware of but at least he cared unlike that caretaker. If not fot that experience my flight would have been much better.
Cons: This airline claims they are the #1 on time airline, but other than this, they don’t do anything differently. Their service is worse than mediocre, their planes are outdated and the entertainment is extremely poor.
Pros: See info posted on the previous request from review of flight.
Cons: See above comment
Pros: All good
Pros: The crew is what made the flight enjoyable.
Cons: The food could have been better.
Cons: The only thing that disappointed me was that I had no access to the lounges. I had hoped to be able to use the first class lounges since I had booked business class but I was not allowed in any of the airports.
Pros: the flight attendant was great, he did a very good job.
Pros: on time departure, amicable crew.
Cons: terrible food, entertainment needs to be looked at.
Cons: It the plan landed on time we would have made the connecting light and the pilot has very poor English, so it was hard to understand important information once we landed.
Pros: Great crew, lay-flat seats in business made for a very comfortable flight back home.
Pros: The crew was nice. However, it took a long time to get a second drink in such long flight. And they didn't offer coffee or hot tea. In addition, it took a long time for the passengers to get situated in their respecting sits.
Cons: To be more organized at the boarding time, and a more promptly and fast service.
Cons: Customers service, i didn't get meal the flight in. Also, i asked for seats away from the windows, and wasn't honoured.
Pros: Very comfortable seats on a new airplane. In premium seats (i.e., business and first 8 rows of economy), there was a good variety of inflight entertainment. The flight was smooth and easy, and you could actually understand the captain on the overhead speaker!
Cons: Air wasn't very powerful, and it felt quite warm. Not enough beverage services for such a long flight, especially when we weren't able to bring our own water bottles on board (security check at the gate immediately before boarding -- liquids not allowed). Food -- nice to receive two meals, though they were so-so in quality. Half the crew was very friendly; others barely cracked a smile.
Cons: Copa Airlines
Pros: On time Orderly process Friendly/helpful crew
Cons: Recent movie selection was not as robust as other airlines but decent still
Pros: Such delay in perfect weather condition and no mechanical problem .... is ridiculous. A crew change should be planned for and should not cause a delay.
Cons: -When I left Punta Cana I had bought 3 rum bottles at the Duty Free. I was able to carry on board these bottles, but when I arrived at Panama the Copa crew informed me I had to check my liquor. I had to throw out everything from my backpack and place the bottles in it. Copa crew managed to break my bottles.
Cons: They said the flight was delayed by 2 hours but then decided to board all of a sudden. We somehow made it but still ended up missing our connecting flight. Food was pathetic with no vegetarian options. Groups of people were split up and not seated together. Complete mess!
Pros: Outstanding customer service; complimentary food AND alcoholic beverages; on-time flights; great value!
Cons: Cabin temperature could hsve been cooler.
Pros: The flight attendants were great. Extremely easy going handled everything thrown at them with great poise.
Cons: Not Copa's fault but had the WORST family sitting behind me that allowed their young children to run up and down the 1 aisle at whim. Can't believe how they thought this was okay. Again, probably not Copa's fault, but why on earth do we have to go thru a 2nd round of security AT OUR GATE in Panama City, when we've already done it in a much more secure manner just to access the terminal? Having to give up my water before getting on the plane for a 6 hour flight makes ZERO sense. I hope this requirement is due to some stupid TSA/USA regulation and not Copa. If its the latter, please re-evaluate this.
Pros: Im requesting a refund.
Cons: Copa airline is a terrible airline. Not sure how they still in business. The ticketing agents were extremely rude and show a great deal of careless towards their customers. I arrived had already checked in, i had no luggage i simply had a backpack and a carry on bag.She told me that my plane was gone 1.5hr before departure. She went in the system type customer missed flight. What she did was deceptive, unethical, and of course should be illegal. I still believe that flight was overbooked, copaairline had to cancel my previous flight due to the weather. When i contacted copa airline directly nothing they could do they said. I was advised by copaairline to wait 3-4 hrs to reactivate my ticket. I was told specifically by a gentleman that there was a flight boarding at 12am. I waited at the airport for about 8hrs to find out there wasno 12am flight that day. I cant make this up people, i have never in my entire life experience that level of stress and anxiety. I want my money back!!!
Pros: The stewardess gave us a row of seats after noting that my husband and I were in two separate rows.
Pros: Crew were friendly.
Cons: It’s nice that Copa feeds you, even on short flights. But every option was meat- there was no vegetarian option. (The site I booked through didn’t give me - or at least I didn’t see it- the option to request a special meal.) In this day and age, I really recommend they have a non-meat option. On another flight on this trip, I also asked for hot tea from the drink cart, and they said it was coming, and it never came.
Cons: Didn’t like the options available, reduced
Pros: Again the crew was amazingly polite.
Cons: I had to sit next to a very overweight person and it was super uncomfortable.
Pros: The service, the language, the good food.
Pros: The business class seating was awesome
Pros: We made it on time
Cons: The food was not very good, the crew can offer water more often
Cons: TERRIBLE. Never had a worse flying experience. Was told at the first leg of the trip that there were 2 open seats on this flight but they would not reserve one for me. Mind you I booked this flight several months ago and somehow my seat got taken away from me because copa overbooked yet again. Worst customer service of all time. Was traveling with a group of 7 girls and got left behind in Panama because Copa took my seat away. Had to sit at the Panama airport for over 10 hours waiting for the next flight and arrive home at midnight. Copa would not allow access to a lounge or hotel even though they initially offered it when they said how they would take care of me if they couldn't get my seat back. Disgusted by how this airline operates.
Cons: My first plane was delayed. Then the flight delay exceeded to where I'd miss my next connection. Then I changed flights once the connection was going to be missed and had a narrow margin to catch the newly assigned connection which was the last flight to town. The flight leaving SF was delayed to where I missed my last flight and had to stay the night in Seattle. It seems all of this could have been resolved if I could have gotten on an earlier flight, which I was trying to do since 4:00 that day. I didn't end up leaving SFO until 9:00 pm
Cons: i travel with copa every year, and for the last 2 years i have experienced problems with them. specially with the reservation and the luggage. I like to buy my ticket 3 to 4 to months ahead so i can reserve my seats in the first rows. When it is the time to do the web check in, they change my assign seats and separates us in different seats back in the airplane.
Pros: Our flights both left right on time. The connection time in Panama City was very short so we were concerned that our checked luggage may not make the second flight. Very impressed that our luggage did arrive in San Francisco without a hitch. Very friendly crew. They spoke good English too!
Cons: Meals Chatting and gossiping of crew
Pros: I love the amount of food that was given and the free alcohol for the main cabin
Cons: Could've used a little more updated tv options as in shows
Cons: I was seated at an exist row at the window seat. The crew would not allow our row to stay seated at the exit row because she said we did not know Spanish well. Instead of finding us replacement of a window and aisle seats we had to take middle seats. She didn't even make an effort to ask if anyone would switch out. I wish airlines would train their crew to think out of the box style and practice customers service, which finds solutions and not state rules. In the end - people migrated to the exist aisle anyway (where we were seated) and made it into a bed.
Pros: Getting off the plane
Cons: Biggest problem was the inappropriate advice given in Sint Maarten by Copa employees about checking bags in Panama. This caused us to have to buy a new piece of luggage to transport something that couldn't be carried through security. Apparently TSA requires additional screening beyond the normal airport security for Tocumen. For Copa employees in Sint Maarten - whose only flights are to Tocument - to not know this is absurd. There was also an incident with duplicate seating that was handled extremely poorly. I was not involved, but it occurred on an adjoining seat. I finally resolved the problem by giving up my seat. Tocumen airport is not an airport that I want to see again. The security - as indicated above - is not up to standard, the flight listings are ridiculous (6 screens all showing the same flight information and never progressing past "M" In the alphabet, way too much duty-free shopping and way too little other signage. It's off my list.
Pros: Friendly crew. Helpful.
Cons: Media offering in the plane was somehow limited.
Pros: I liked the modern aircraft, service, easy check in procedures..cost-free alcoholic alcoholic drinks were nice and the food served was tasty although there is room for improvement on the presentation (=appearance) of the meals served.
Cons: Copa cited some airport restriction on number of people they could accommodate on the plane due to weather and how this was handled and processed by the ground crew was just terrible. This affected a number of passengers -- 30 or more, by my estimates. And it started with the leg from Panama to San Francisco not checked in automatically and getting placed on standby. The call center did not offer a suitable explanation for the airport's weather restriction. As a frequent flier on the Star Alliance, I have not seen a situation handled as poorly as this. The ground staff seem very poorly trained to handle what seems to be a frequent situation. And despite most affected travelers being there early with a layover began to resolve this only 45 min before the flight. My appetite to fly Copa from San Francisco has vastly diminished. And so has the desire to fly through Panama City, if weather is as fickle as they say it is.
Pros: I was bumped from an overbooked Copa flight and was offered another that would get me home at 1am (rather than 3pm) or an overnight stay and a flight the next morning. Instead of trying to find a way home from the airport (a 1+ hour ride) in the middle of the night, I opted to stay in Panama overnight. Copa put me up in a very nice Sheraton in downtown Panama City with a pool, several restaurants, a casino... They gave me $20 per meal I'd be staying for (lunch, dinner, and the following breakfast), arranged a shuttle to and from the airport, and, the best part, a $1000 voucher for future flights with Copa within the next year - enough for two more round trip flights.
Cons: Communication was minimal or false. When I checked my bag, the agent told me that I was being placed on standby because of a weight limit on the plane. She assured me that the flight wasn't full and that I would absolutely get a seat. When I got to the gate, there was minimal information available, but about 12-15 people were on standby, including two families of 4 and 5 people. The agents were ill-informed and didn't immediately explain why so many of us were on standby and whether anyone would make it on the plane, or what the other options were for those who wouldn't make it on the plane. Eventually four or five people boarded, another few got moved to a later flight, and 6 including me were put up in a hotel. Betzy, a gate agent for Copa at Tocumen, was absolutely wonderful and so helpful and informative with all of this.
Pros: friendly staff, meal provided, no extra charge for exit row seating, plenty of overhead room for bags, good in flight entertainment
Cons: boarding process was silly and inefficient with extra security at the gate, poor communication and long, hot lines to get in and out of the gate waiting area
Pros: Extra seating, leg room
Cons: We've had better crew consideration with other airlines
Pros: The flight was good, but there were not a lot of entertainment options, Also, no blankets were offered on the either flight.
Pros: Everything perfect
Pros: The crew was friendly and helpful
Cons: In Panama City we had to go through a secondary security at the gate and had some of our belongings taken from us.. belongings that are normally allowed through security in the U.S... and because of this we had to have our fragile items put below with all the baggage and be sent to baggage claim.. which was extremely scary for us and frustrating. We were held inside the security of the airport without be allowed to leave to use the restroom, buy water or eat food.
Cons: Just seemed chaotic. Plane super late departing. Baggage pick up was a nightmare.
Pros: Nothing everyone was rude and I seemed to bother them
Cons: Everything from communication to compensation
Pros: Not much maybe just the boarding
Cons: The staff needs to be retrained a lot like many police personal and subsequent Police departments. The first class is literally coach with a slightly nicer seat. They treat you like cattle at American Airlines. If you have another option take it.
Pros: The seat next to me was empty
Cons: I downloaded the app and followed the directions to watch a movie but when I got on board I host the connection and not get back in . It would not allow me to download anything
Pros: nothing lousy flight
Cons: treat people with respect
Pros: Everything was easy
Cons: No entertainment no WiFi. Lots of angry people about that.
Pros: Good crew
Cons: My tv monitor did not work.
Cons: Ladying calling out the plane numbers i could barley understand her
Pros: I like when they dim the lights so I could sleep
Cons: Flight attendant was rude, I was too tired to deal with her attitude
Pros: I was on time
Cons: Compensation for your mistakes
Pros: The crew was great. The seat was adequate but NOT comfortable. The request/requirement for only the wheelie bags to be in the overhead and everything else to be under the seat was EXCELLENT. Thank you for organizing the amount of “stuff” people carry on to the plane.
Cons: I needed a little back support pillow...
Cons: Seemed disorganized getting on
Pros: The crew were super nice. All the people in the SAN were very nice.
Cons: They didn’t have headphones :(
Cons: Incredibly cramped airplane
Pros: The meals on Japan Airlines (JAL) were delicious!
Cons: Fukuoka and Narita airports had terminals that weren’t connected by a train or even an indoor path. It was covered but it was cold in Narita and Fukuoka required a slow shuttle.
Pros: I could be rebooked on my initial flight and I arrived early in San Diego.
Cons: I was rebooked on my initial flight but I had lost my seat and I landed at the end of the plane. It took ages to get out. I understand the situation, however.
Pros: Leaving that airplane 8 hours after expected.
Cons: The fact that I was delayed twice, given false information, had to wait to board because a flight attendant was late for her shift and then had to run from terminal to terminal to find my flight on my own because no representative could help me or show up.
Pros: Landing at my final destination.
Cons: Over 3 hours of delays. American Airlines needs to get their act together at Chicago O’Hare airport.
Pros: Friendly crew, and my wife and I were lucky to have empty seats next to us.
Cons: Old plane, no food, no in-seat entertainment, drinks only for purchase. This is what air travel was like in the 1980s. A nice throwback flight!
Cons: They didn’t board us closer to the front just because we had an hour layover. Barely had time to go thru customs n tsa to make it to the gateof our connecting flight.
Pros: Flight kept being pushed back multiple times. left about 3 hrs late. Then after boarding and waiting to take off, the pilot tells us a light came on the "dash" and he has to have maintenance come to check it. That takes another 30 plus minutes. Not a good start to the morning.
Cons: Never finding out what happened to the our original plane that was supposed to have left in the morning.
Pros: Direct flight from desired origin to destination Boarding by zones
Cons: Uncomfortable, small, seat space with inadequate legroom. Lack of personal entertainment options. Paid extra for earlier boarding group which only benefited me by about 5 people. (NOT WORTH IT!) Lack of complimentary food options. (Pay for everything)
Pros: Economy passengers treated well
Cons: Your survey app
Pros: Love the entertainment system, watched a movie and was able to charge my phone too
Cons: Gate the boarding process but that's about it
Pros: Once we were in the air, the flight was average.
Cons: The flight was delayed due to several mechanical issues but the ground crew did not communicate effectively on the issue or how long the delay would be. I understand that these issues occur, but better communications and empathy from the ground crew would have gone a long way. Boarding was also a disaster because everyone tried to board at the same time and again, the ground crew did nothing to control the situation.
Cons: Took off late
Pros: Flight crew was great and made the flight that more memoriable .
Pros: An open seat next to me
Pros: Everything was great!
Pros: Flight was on time
Cons: No individual movie screens and no way to connect to the one movie on the flip down screen since I didn't have the American Airlines app.
Cons: Unbelievably poor customer support. They accidentally canceled my flight and when I tried to retrieve my seat back, the lady was taking it as somebody else problem... If the AA was the one made an error of canceling my seat, I wished they would show at least an attitude of taking responsibility to fix the problem.
Pros: Short flight
Cons: Numerous delays.
Cons: The check in process at JFK was a disaster. The kiosk check in machines were constantly malfunctioning, where to line up was unclear, and staff acted frustrated. After several failed attempts with the kiosks you have to wait in line to check in at the counter anyways. It would have saved almost an hour of my time to just go straight to the counter-- had I been allowed to. I wanted to check a bag which contained some fragile items. Several bottles of wine which I wrapped in bubble wrap and cushioned with my packed clothes. I requested a "Fragile" sticker to be put on my bag. I was told "We don't do that here". So I asked if they handle ALL bags with extreme care and I was laughed at and told to go on my way. When I got my bag at my destination-- the outside of my leather suitcase was sliced to the lining. There were scuff marks and torn leather. My wine had been completely shattered. Not just a crack in the bottle, but flattened completely. My clothes were stained, my bag ruined. I don't know if putting a fragile sticker on would have prevented this, but I don't understand why they just "don't do that". We are trusting our property to the airline when we check bags. I will never trust American Airlines ever again. They don't want to know if I have anything fragile, and they don't care when I tell them.
Cons: My ticket was cancelled because of a misrepresentation made by an agent when I had to rebook the outgoing leg of this trip. I had to pay $670 for new ticket at the airport with no other options and very little help from the LatAm agents. I'll never book another ticket with this airline.
Pros: Ok boarding, ok service, ok flight
Cons: We were delayed for about 1hr without any explanation or apology. Thank goodness i didn't have a connecting flight.
Pros: Well organised
Cons: I never experienced the flight because I wasn't given a seat. The airline oversold the flight and I never got to go. I missed my once in a lifetime experience because the airline is greedy at my (and other people's) expense. I missed out on a priceless experience. Not only that, the bag that I checked did not make it off the flight so I remained in DC while my bag went to Medellin. I had to purchase new toiletries and had to make arrangements to get back to the airport. As of now, I do not plan on choosing American Airline nor LATAM for my future flights.
Cons: Flight was delayed arriving, connecting flight was in a completely different terminal = they didn't wait for us and auto booked us on a flight out the next morning. We requested our bags and drove home instead. Horrible.
Cons: Could not read paper when passenger in front reclined seat. No space between rows.
Pros: Seat were larger and comfortable
Cons: AB 320-200 flight for +5 hours and no entertainment. Nothing on the flight. Could not pre-board on line, so instead of a zone 2 loading sequence we got zone 4. as a person who flies to Europe 4-5 times a year I do not enjoy getting on a plane in the Zone 4-5 sequencing.
Cons: Despite paying 5 months in advance, couldn't check in online or reserve seats without paying extra. AA customer service told me there were no more "complimentary " seats!! Very tight legroom in cabin.
Cons: just like above + I had previously requested a vegan meal that had been confirmed and I was presented a "dish" of pasta loaded with cheese and was told that that was vegan ... 9 hours flight with no food The sound outlet on my seat was broken and, again, no entertainment for the entire flight
Cons: The stewardesses were gossiping in the back of the plane and we could all hear their complaints about the new uniform policy. They did not seem very happy to be there and there was no in flight entertainment. A total bummer.
Cons: AA canceled my flight my kids who live 4 hours away from San Diego drove that distance to pick me up yesterday, we got a hotel room for the canceled flight but they ended up paying $200 for the night. AA did not let us know thr flight was canceled until late last night.
Pros: Smooth boarding
Cons: No entertainment
Cons: No power at JFK. Customs and baggage claim a nightmare. After a tiring international flight, 4 hours in airport find out my flight is canceled. Miss a day of work because can't get flight until following day. No airline offer of food or hotel accommodation.
Cons: 1 hour late. And when the pilot made announcements during the movie it would not pause. We missed parts of the movie. It was annoying.
Pros: Quick flight, stewardesses still offered complimentary drinks, a/c worked well.
Cons: I'm still waiting for my 10 pm flight and it's almost 2am.
Cons: The flight crew was horrible
Cons: People around me kept taking off their masks. The crew corrected them twice, but I think they could have done a better job of it.
Cons: I caught COVID from the other passengers. They were obnoxiously drunk, vulgar, and distinctly terrible.
Cons: Lo peor no se lo recomiendo a nadie , me cobraron 71 uds por la maleta de mano y dos mascaras !
Cons: I paid extra to pick my seat. My row was not full and before take off they put a rather large man in the middle seat of my row. I told the attendant why did she choose this row when there are so many open seats. She was rude and said - this is the seat I have chosen and that is final. The mad DID NOT pay like I did to pick his seat. He just banked on getting a randomly selected good seat or the attendant to help get a new seat. WHY DID I PAY EXTRA when other can just choose their own seat. This makes no sense and was the last straw for me for Spirit. They nickel and dime you - but it really doesn't matter.
Pros: Ticket cost was low and the crew from Ohare to LAX was great
Cons: Our fault for not researching more but baggage fees were extremely high! My husband planned on saving $$$ and packed in a carryon but they wanted to charge him more to carry on than to check? I thought my weight allowance was 50 lbs (like most other airlines). It’s 40lbs otherwise they charge an extra $30!!!!! Not impressed. No complimentary food, snacks or meal on a 4 hr flight. Seats were cheap-didn’t even recline and not Much leg room. Bottom line: if you want a cheap uncomfortable airline go for it. Otherwise pay the little bit extra and go with a mainstream airline for more comfort and perks
Pros: Just one flight attendant on my rebooking
Cons: That the crew member went out of her way and got me taken off the plane after I ran from check in to the terminal to make the boarding. I was out of shape and I at every right before I started running the marathon to the gate, I got in the plane panting and sweating breathing hard, so of course I felt sick after I ran since I had a full stomach of food and I needed to purge. Because I ate, ran a long distance with two bags in my arms, out of shape, and purging the food after long strenuous attempt to get on the plane, I make it. They then escort me off. They just rebook my flight. No compensation for even my taxi that I had to take now 3 times to the air port. Unbelievable.
Pros: I liked how easy it was to board the plane, but that’s because I paid an extra $7 to be in zone one. That was the only thing I liked other than the flight landed safely.
Cons: I don’t like that I had to pay $55 to have a carry-on. I travel light for those reasons, and if I’m going to pay extra for a bag I might as well check it and get to take my toothpaste with me. I don’t like that I paid $27 to be in the exit row. There was no tray table on the seat in front of me, or anywhere for my usage. There is no headphone jack. You shouldn’t even ask if I enjoy the entertainment because they don’t offer anything, not even for the people that pay extra money. Also don’t like my seat didn’t recline or have an armrest and overly obese couple that they squeezed in next to me took up all the space of the row. What’s the point of paying extra for comfort, when you get less than the guy who paid nothing and is in a middle seat, who I’m sure he was uncomfortable and miserable as well. I also don’t like that you have to pay for water!! Who makes you pay for water!? Not even the peanuts or the pretzels were complimentary… Absolutely never ever flying with this airline ever again! The cheap airfare was definitely not worth the lack of professionalism and being taken advantage of to have to pay for every extra thing that should be expected in regular travel.
Pros: The only up side is that I eventually got home... :(
Cons: When I purchased my ticket I paid extra for an isle exit row seat. On the day of my flight I got an email plenty early that the flight had been delayed an hour with no explanation why, which stinks. Once on the plane we found out that the reason we were delayed was because they changed the planes that morning and we needed to wait for an extra stewardess to get to the airport bc of the plane change. This is HORRIBLE planning, if you don't have the staff don't change the plane!! Also because of the plane change my seat was no longer in an exit row. When I explained to the stewardess that I paid extra for my seat that was supposed to be in an exit row I was told that I needed to return to my seat and they will fix it after they are done boarding. Once everyone was on the plane they told me that I was "lucky" because there was still a middle seat in an exit row available... Again I had PAID EXTRA for an ISLE EXIT ROW seat when I purchased the ticket but now I am lucky they can seat me in the last exit tow seat available. When I brought up the fact that I shouldn't have to complain to get the seat that I had already paid for the stewardess gave me attitude like I should be grateful for whatever they give me. Then she passed me off to another gentleman who didn't care about hearing what my issue was he just wanted the plane to take off already. I felt very disrespected by all the Spirit employees once on the plane. Spirit in general is very shady because if I hadn't brought up the fact that I paid extra for my exit row they would have just let me pay the extra money for a normal seat.
Pros: - Flight attendants were nice. They deserve a raise, since your CEO makes $7 million a year. - The outstanding pilots got us to LAX safely. They deserve a raise, since your CEO makes $7 million a year.
Cons: - The seats were not comfortable - The seats don't recline back (seriously CEO Robert L. Fornaro? You won't invest in reclining seats? wow that's pathetic) - Spirit won't even offer free beverages (even water) after I paid over $500 for a ticket? (seriously? That make's your airline look so pathetically greedy/cheap) - The fact that you have "Entertainment" as a category, yet there is no entertainment of any kind (in-flight movies, etc.) - The fact that CEO Robert L. Fornaro makes over $7 million a year. He's grossly overpaid...someone should tell the Board of Directors.
Pros: This flight had more legroom than ANY flight that I had taken in years. I'm not sure if I just got lucky and landed in an upgraded seat or if that is standard on that plane, but it was great! This crew was also one of the best I have encountered. The cabin was very cold, but as soon as I asked the attendant to turn up the heat, she happily did, and I was more comfortable. She then came back to check on me to make sure I was better. Then... when I was going into the bathroom to brush my teeth, she stopped me and insisted that I take take the fresh, unused portion of a water bottle to use-- so as not to rely on the "plane" water. I would never had thought of such a thing-- but she was right, and for that, I was safer and more comfortable. Both attendants were also immediately at the ready with unlimited hand sanitizer after my bathroom experience. These kinds of things show me that they were pre-prepared to go above and beyond for my comfort and well being-- that is RARE in the airline industry, and I definitely appreciated those extra steps. Please look up their names from my itinerary, and give them the credit they deserve!!! All of my gate attendants were great too.
Cons: Both of my flights that day were late, but honestly, I do believe that was due to the weather--- so I was not upset. The HARD sales pitch for bags and extras was excessive. There was no food or entertainment, so that's why I gave them a 1
Cons: Email spam. Poor customer service. Delays all the time
Cons: Please do not use FlightNetwork as a third party booking service anymore. When I first booked my ticket through them, after finding the deal on kayak, they sent an email saying that the flight booking was pending. I had to call them to confirm they had actually booked the flight. Then they mispelled my email so I didn't receive a confirmation email from spirit until I called the airline directly. And then I found out that not only had FlightNetwork collected $20 for their poor services they had charged me for my flight in addition to spirit charging me for my flight. I was doubly charged for the same flight and was only alerted to it because I was skeptical of FlightNetwork's business practices and decided to double check my bank account. I am now in the process of getting a refund from FlightNetwork. I urge you to discontinue business with them as this experience seems to be characteristic of their company. My partner's flight was booked incorrectly and FlightNetwork's track record on Yelp is incorrigible.
Pros: The fact that there was a nonstop flight from PHL to LAX at a reasonable time of day.
Cons: When we arrived, it seemed Spirit was understaffed. There was a long line at check-in, and no bag drop. The attendants seemed stressed, understandably. We were seated in the second to last row, in front of three unaccompanied minors. The flight attendants were doing their best to make sure the kids behaved, but they were incredibly disruptive. My wife and I agreed: unless Spirit has a deal that's too good to afford, we will not be flying with them again. What you may save initially, you pay for in quality of service, comfort, and convenience.
Pros: Email update about change of gate.
Cons: Spirit is not forthcoming on website about the extra charges prior to booking the flights, and the charges go up substantially at the airport. There was 45 minute wait time at the baggage claim. The seats are the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced in 50 years of flying. There is also not nearly enough leg room between rows. Charging $65 for a small piece of carry on luggage is disgusting. Not having any water free of charge is not healthy for the passengers on a 4.5 hour flight. The flight attendants discouraged anyone from standing or moving around, also not good for one's health.
Pros: Flight attendants were a cut above -- calm, charming and very helpful as opposed to the surly hall monitors typical of most budget most airlines.
Cons: Aware of "hidden fees" I checked all of my boxes, checked in online in advance, paid for bags in advance, and when I got there, gate agent says bags were not paid for... BS. I entered credit card and paid. Apparently payment did not go through. Would NOT have been an issue at all had I not been charged $10 more for the same check-in. What a racket. Even when I tried to avoid surprise fees, they got me. Same thing happened to another passenger. Totally unethical. No benefit of the doubt given. Unreal. It destroyed what would have been an overall good experience on Spirit.
Cons: My flight was delayed by over three hours on Sunday traveling from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. Flight delays happen but there was zero communication from anyone at the airport let alone anyone at the customer service desk. They also changed our gate several times, which led people going back and forth completely confused and upset without anyone there to answer questions or help explain where we should be, etc. This was a terrible experience and I will not be flying Spirit again and will encourage friends and co-workers to do the same.
Cons: Paid $50 to check a computer they told me was too big for a carry-on. Computer was sent on a direct flight way before I was getting to my destination(instead of on my connection) and was left in an unattended area. They told me it was "most likely stolen" and asked why I didn't take it on the plane. Your gate agent told me it was too big!!!! This was the answer I got after 3 days of investigating myself. I was told various stories like "it got stuck at security" and "it never got on the plane" until I got home and went directly to the baggage office and asked them on my own. The kid that actually tagged it said his supervisor told him to send it direct. Sounds like they set things up to get stolen. I will be filing a complaint and claim.
Cons: I felt a ripp off affter when I found oute that I hadto pay 165.00 for bagage in order tu fly my furst reaction is what gotme here my guife bought the tikets I will never use this company again and I have share the story to all may friends relatives family members after surbey the c e o owners protocols make mi feel that I must stay away from this institution this is very harmful to any human I just want to be treated the way you treat your loved ones becouse we R humans, and humans never get close to people that confuses lies and hurts them .
Pros: Efficient boarding is the only good thing I can say.
Cons: The crew was nice but pushy. On both flights they kept focusing on people's bags under their chairs with unnecessary persistence. Since Spirit doesn't really offer anything at all they just stood at the front of the plane after flying through with the cart that only offered something you have to pay for. Then at the end, annoyed everyone trying to sell them the credit card. Both flights were over an hour delayed due to missing mechanic paperwork. The flight was not cheaper then other flights but matched up to the times I needed - (After the delays, not really) and so I booked. Totally forgot I was going to get charged an outrageous amount for my carry-on. This airline is a crock. AVOID.
Pros: We were treated terribly by your airline and Flight Network. The flight schedule changed and no one told us.
Pros: Nothing, there is nothing good about this airline,
Cons: On your best day you will pay money for every little thing carry-on, seat assignments even water. But this last experience was the worst, when checking flight status our flight was delayed 45 min, when we arrived at the airport it was only delayed 15 and we were denied entry to the flight BC we were only 40 min early not 45. Even though we were not check bags and are TSA pre check and would have easily made out flight. Money wasted, awful airline, awful aircraft, awful customer service. Book at your own risk.
Cons: spirit attempts to force a customer to register with their site in order to check-in, their ticket rates are a bit lower than the competitor but charge $50 for a normal checked bag, have one kiosk for check-in, very few gates /low priority at airports which causes longer waits for boarding and deboarding. Overall the experience with Spirit has been horrible and expensive. Their business practice includes deceptive pricing, over charging for luggage, and long waits. I will never fly with Spirit again.
Pros: Friendly staff.
Cons: The seats didn't recline which is inappropriate for a 5-6 hour flight. The tray was also so small I couldn't put my laptop on it to watch a movie. There was nowhere to plug into power so my iPhone (a backup for movies) died hours before we landed. Lastly, I was called to help assist a passenger who had fainted (I'm a doctor) and was offered nothing in return for my help. Not even a soda. I didn't offer to help in hopes of "free stuff," but the other airlines I have flown with have offered me a drink, some food, or even $ off my next flight as a thank you for my medical services.
Cons: My flight was first delayed, then cancelled just a couple of hours before it was scheduled to depart. Spirit was unable/unwilling to provide me with another flight to my destination on the same day, and as a result I had to book a flight with another airline. Spirit refunded my ticket price, but I had to pay 5 times that much to book a flight with such short notice on another airline, and Spirit refused to do anything else to compensate me for this huge loss of money, due to their cancellation of the flight I had booked. I will never fly Spirit again.
Pros: Spirit has very nice, patient and helpful employees.
Cons: I'm a fairly small woman and these planes are awful to ride in. Very uncomfortable seats. The man sitting next to me on my flight to Detroit was sitting 1/3 in my seat. I had zero personal space. I was flying to MI for my fathers funeral and the airline doesn't acknowledge or do anything for bereavement. That's pretty unfeeling. I also have never been on a plan with such loud passengers. It sounded like everyone was talking. People where listening to videos out loud without headphones and they never turned the lights all the way down eventhough it was a late flight (8pm to 1am). Also: Nowhere to plug devices in. No entertainment. Not even water is free. They only take credit card so if you are desperately in need of water and only have cash you are screwed. Charges for every carry on bag.
Cons: Any things
Pros: We landed safe.
Cons: I needed to change my flight to a later time within minjtes of booking and they charged me for it. The delay was over two hrs w no explanation, $100 charges for a backpack, seats do not recline, narrow space, $3 for water,, there were emty seats and was told I would have to pay $75 is I moved from my broken seat. staff is rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. Overall , I have travleled the world in all kinds of flights and by far the worst experience I have ever had was flying SPIRIT Air. I will avoid flying Spirit unless it tis my last option...which I may cosider not flying at all. Zero Stars
Cons: I tried canceling one flight for my fiancé because we had to get on at another time while still keeping the returning flight. After confirming with the representative on the phone multiple time that there would be no issues with her getting on the returning flight; she went to check in at the airport and the representative there told her that her flight had been canceled. There were no other flights that night with Spirit or any other airline for that matter and we then had to arrange to have her fly out the next morning. From the cancelation I received a credit for half of what I paid and honestly will probably not end up using it because of the lack of communication. The representative on the phone confirmed and agreed to her return flight with the confirmation number and apparently he was not correct and it wasn't valid.
Cons: Where do I start? This may be the most "affordable" flight you can find on the market but they make up for that. Be sure to print your own boarding pass because that's a $10 charge if you don't. If your luggage is even one lb over the weight, expect to pay $95. Need water on the flight? Pay up. AirMall magazine? Nope. Reclining chairs? Laughable. The staff's affect is flat and cold. Don't bother trying to reason with them, they could care less (especially"Karen"). If I could give zero stars on this review, I wouldn't hesitate. I wouldn't wish my experience with Spirit on anyone. I'd rather forget about it all and move on with my life but people have the right to know.
Pros: Flight into LAX was experienced and the pilot landed well.
Cons: You get excited cause the ticket is cheap, then you have to pay for everything. The motto this trip was, "do I have to pay extra for that?" If you are going with a backpack and that's it, this might be the ticket for you. But if you were like me, and needed to take more than a toothbrush for three days, you have you pay for luggage, then pay for water, and boarding passes, and CARRY ON BAGS. The list goes on and on. Spirit doesn't care about you, just your money. I will shell out the extra bucks to get at least a water and a seat that reclines. I will be warning everyone I know about how terrible Spirit was, and I personally will never fly this airline again.
Pros: It was a direct flight to Cleveland... and it APPEARED to be cheaper than a more traditional airline.
Cons: Let's start with your website, which never functioned -- except to book my ticket. 30 minutes and numerous tries to get a seat, to pay for a carry on bag & the same "unable to process at this time" response. When I called, the gentleman lacked strong English as a second language skills -- and that ordeal took another 25 minutes. Nice as can be, but really struggled to figure out HOW to keep my seats, which were showing blocked + couldn't tell if the charge was processed. Then there's the lack of participation in the TSA Program, which means having to unpack three computers and ALL liquids... The cattle call boarding process -- even when you pay the upcharge. And the kinda crummy/dirty waiting area at LAX, from going through security so early -- to make sure I didn't miss my flight. The seats so lack support, I work up with a horrible back ache. Definitely bring a blanket or firm pillow -- if you have ANY back issues, which I don't. It's a start up airline, and they charge for everything but oxygen. So if you don't want to carry on, you don't mind the almost freight plane experience... This is probably a pretty good deal. AND they fly direct to Cleveland, which is always a good thing.
Pros: They didn't let me board!!
Cons: I arrived at airport 50 mins in advance. Ticket machine didn't work. Waited in long line to see wtf was up. Then they me I'm too late! Still 30 mins before flight board
Cons: I booked my return flight the same day i booked my departure. I didn't recieve an email with my itinerary nor was i charged for the flight so i called the airline. After 30 minutes of my time wasted i was still on call waiting. The day before my return flight i panicked and bought a whole new ticket and then like 8 hours before muy flight i get an email asking if I'm ready for muy upcoming flight. I am completely disappointed with both kayak and spirit airlines. I WILL NEVER AGAIN BE BOOKING SPIRIT AIRLINES AGAIN!!
Pros: Flight took off on time and arrived sooner than scheduled. The price was rock bottom. Staff was courteous. Spirit is budget focused and does everything to make flying simple and low cost.
Cons: No usb outlets to charge your phone. They scare you into thinking that if you have carry on luggage they will charge you an extra $55 each way on their check in system. I took mine and wasn't charged. Upon entering the cabin, it was warm. The air conditioning was intentionally turned off till take off to save money-not a big deal for me but could bother others. At end of flight, we have to shut the windows closed for the next shift to keep it cool-strange. If you are over 6ft tall or are wide bodied don't fly coach on Spirit. Seats are thin plastic and cushions are not forgiving or adjustable. If you are a college student or young family, this airline is your best bet to stay on budget if you have high tolerance. If you are more business/lifestyle/social vacation traveller, try paying an extra $60-$90 more and the travel part will become part of what makes you smile instead of what you try to tolerate.
Pros: Only the initial "sucker price" which does NOT include ANY LUGGAGE or the ability to SIT WITH YOUR FAMILY without paying extra!!
Cons: They use an initial "SUCKER PRICE" which does NOT include ANY LUGGAGE or the ability to SIT WITH YOUR FAMILY without paying extra!! $50 extra for each piece of luggage ... EACH WAY1 If you don't pay at the check in counter they charge $100 for each piece of luggage - each way and that includes ANY BACKPACK WITH WHEELS! $25 FOR EACH FAMILY MEMBER TO SIT TOGETHER!!!! NO COMPLIMENTARY FOOD OR DRINK. 2 sodas are $5! (can't buy just one) NO none zero entertainment, not even a radio channel.
Pros: When I got off the flight to my destination.
Cons: The customer service was terrible! When hiring a person customer service should be a priority! I understand you can't please everybody but to treat a person as if they don't matter is terrible. And to make a person miss a domestic flight because of being five minutes and making them go print a boarding pass and make me go back in line and then charging me an additional 200 dollars to rebook me was beyond me! I needed to make it to LAX to connect to meet volunteers for a mission trip I was going with and I did not make that flight just because the person decided to send me back to the line.
Pros: Friendly crew
Cons: Spirit will charge you extra for almost anything imaginable. There is no free carry on luggage except a small personal item. No free printing of boarding passes at the airport. Prepare to be nickel and dimed for anything extra. Spirit fares are ok but other airlines can offer fares just as cheap or even cheaper if you are flexible with the date and time. None of the Spirit planes I've ever been on have charging outlets or entertainment screens which are becoming standard comforts on most other airlines. Not to mention, Spirit gave me hassle for using an e-boarding pass. Really, Spirit? All other major airlines accept electronic boarding passes via mobile phone. Requiring printed boarding passes is so outdated. I would choose any other airline than Spirit if at all possible.
Pros: It got me from the point A to the point B safely. Shouldn't/wouldn't take that for granted.
Cons: 1. Technical difficulties: We attempted to check in the night before, in order to "save" on what's already a ridiculous fee for checked baggage. However, after inputting our credit card number, the system stated that it was experiencing malfunction. Therefore, we had to check in again at the airport, and although we informed them that we attempted to check in ahead of time, they were not concerned and charged us $52 each per bag. At this point, any savings we had by booking a "no frill, economic" airline, were negated. 2. Ridiculous Fees, cont: My husband and I were traveling together, and booked the flight at the same time, on the same credit card. Yet, the only way we were guaranteed seats together, was if we purchased seat assignments. 3. Delays: Our flight was initially delayed 3 hours. We were not given any explanation or apologies. Then, as our new boarding time was approaching, they informed us that further delay will ensue due to a flight attendant running late. They could not give us a time frame in which we would actually board, nor did they seem particularly concerned or apologetic. 4. (Dis)Comfort: We finally boarded. Seats do not recline, nor are they comfortable. Of course, even water carried a charge. 5. More delays, poor Customer Service: After we landed, we proceeded to wait another half an hour or so, because the plane for some reason had no access to the gate. People were restless and needed to use restrooms. But they were sharply redirected and ordered to stay seated and buckled, without much regard for the inconvenience and discomfort. Overall, a poor experience. There are so many airlines out there whose costs are comparable (or even cheaper after you factor in all of the additional, ridiculous fees) and who have a better record in being on time, great customer service, and no extra fees. I would suggest going with them.
Cons: The flight attendant "joked" with us that we were heading to New York instead of LA... Supposed to be funny but seriously rude and frightening; I almost had a panic attack. I am also severely disgusted by the airlines that include a dozen hidden fees but don't inform you of them when you are booking your ticket. It was due to a fluke that I discovered carry ons were not free, which led me to search further and find that printing boarding passes is not free, nor are beverages, nor.. anything else. While I understand Spirit's desire to make flights cheaper, you should just TELL PEOPLE THAT when they buy the ticket, I shouldn't have to discover it after the fact. I probably still would have bought your ticket and been much happier about it.
Pros: There is nothing which I can like about spirit airline
Cons: Spirit hidden charges and they will tell you to pay for even small hand bags at double price.
Cons: Price gouged every step of the way, spirit airlines should not even be permitted to operate. Expect to pay $50 or more if you should be so brazen to want to bring luggage. Checked bags wouldn't be an unusual charge but even a carry on bag has a price tag. For the ridiculously high price for a one way ticket, not even so much as a complimentary cup of water was offered. No in flight entertainment, not even a flight magazine or skymall. The horribly uncomfortable seats were too narrow, and 11 inches apart from the rows ahead. I'm a short person and even I had my knees against the seat in front of me. On top of that they don't even recline. A passenger behind me was listening to headphones so loud that it was clearly audible to three rows in any direction. At one point an attendant asked him to turn it down, but within an hour he had them back up for the rest of the trip, with an "I tried" shrug from the attendant. Before landing another attempt at pandering for money was made in the form of signing up for frequent flyer miles, by purchasing spirit membership. I will never fly spirit again and would strongly urge anyone to shop around before considering spirit as their airline.
Cons: Flight was late, baggage was late
Cons: Did not like the fact that i was on time to my flight but my flight didnt not leave for an hour after it was schedualed due to a "computer" problem. It didnt seem like much was wrong since all the mechanics were just sitting around talking to the flight attendants. Also the plane kept making this unusual grinding sound before we even took off as well as while we werr in the air. The flight attendants were very rude to alot of people, careless with the credit card machine dropped it very roughly on the ground and laughing about it. I am pretty sure the older one of the three was drunk because she reaked of alcohol , I didnt not catch her name but she was the ruddest of them even to an elderly man and a small child. Then Liz was also very rude to customers as well as having an attitude that was as if she didnt carr about her job. The man Gustavo was not to bad he just spoke over the intercom as if he was new. My mother who was traveling with me asked for a seat belt extender twice and the third time was finaly given one and laughed at by the staff and the during the flight she discoverd a roach in the pouch in front of her. Also back to a referance to the bad staff a woman sat next to us asked for a pain killer or some sort and was told " i cant give it to you before we take off, and if i could we dont have anything other than our own"-liz then twords the end the poor girl was sweating drasticaly and holding her stomach and the older attendent whose name i did not get came up and said " WHATS WRONG WITH YOU?" and laughed. Over all i was NOT haooy woth this flight i do understand the fact that i GET WHAT I PAY FOR BUT THAT WAS JUST RIDICULOUS.
Pros: Staff at Spirit Airlines at OAK airport were really nice and helpful. Flight was cheap and safely flown - a huge plus for me, but plane not cleaned well and baggage fees were higher than the price of the flight itself so I am very lucky I brought a recognized carry-on bag.
Cons: For my outgoing flight, my front pocket magazine holder in front was pretty covered in some stain that I couldn't recognize but was sticky to the touch. I knew they hadn't really cleaned the plane. I didn't really open that magazine holder because it was covered by this large stain. My return flight was changed several times due to mechanical issues but I appreciate that Kayak sent updates via email. It was 70% likely not to fly but ended up flying maybe 3 hrs later (good that they made sure to be safe than sorry) but I just couldn't wait to find out overnight that it would be cancelled at the airport, so I had to reschedule my flight for the next day and find housing and transportation again. I overheard other passengers complained out loud even on the initial flight to OAK airport that they would not travel with Spirit again, but I had more issues with my return flight than my outbound flight. All in all, I think you get what you pay for but this was probably not the best experience.
Pros: Terrible customer service.
Cons: Spirit overbooked our flight, so since my boyfriend and I were the last to check in...(Checked in when got to the airport, in plenty of time before our flight) They informed us that if no one volunteered to take a later flight, we would be unable to board. This was extremely upsetting considering our tickets were purchased months in advance and we had a rental car set up for when we landed, as well as many plans we had to cancel due to being put on a later flight on behalf of the mistake and overbooking of Spirit airlines. It didn't help that the employees helping the situation seemed to have no idea what they were doing and couldn't figure out what to do with us. AWFUL experience.
Cons: flight took off 2 hrs later
Pros: I flew Round-Trip LAX-CLE-LAX. Flight from CLE to LAX left on time and even arrived about 40 minutes ahead of schedule.
Cons: I flew Round-Trip LAX-CLE-LAX. Flight from LAX to CLE was almost 3 hrs. delayed & we could not get a straight answer as to why. My biggest complaint is this airline needs to be much more transparent about the ACTUAL cost of flying w/ them versus what they advertise! It is ridiculous to have to pay $55.00 each way for a carry-on! For that same additional $110.00 I could have flown on a better airline that didn't have hidden fees, didn't try to check my carry-on at a higher rate & then get upset when I made them fix the error, didn't stick me in a cramped flying cattle car (more or less) with tiny seats that didn't even recline. The counter agents at LAX were helpful & friendly but not so at CLE. The agent there seemed very annoyed & was the one making the aforementioned error. I will NOT fly this airline again & wouldn't be surprised to see them go out of business.
Cons: cancelled flight and not enough customer service to deal with people
Pros: Cheap rate and a direct flight, or at least it was supposed to be. Customer service staff were mostly very good and patient with all of us frustrated customers after they put us in the air on a defective aircraft TWICE in the same night. They didn't kill us, although arguably they took a lot of liberties with our lives.
Cons: Excessively high checked bag fee ($50) and relatively low checked bag weight (<40 Lbs.). Flight staff was loudly mocking Delta pilots as we boarded the plane the first time. Departed (the first time) almost 60 minutes late, due to a company wide computer outage. Not a good first impression... But it got much, much worse. About 15 minutes after take off we are suddenly turned back around the wrong direction. Eventually the pilot explains that there is a problem with the aircraft and we need to make an emergency landing at MSP. Okay, no big deal. Things happen. They got us back on the ground safely. We left the plane and waited for more info. Sporadic updates over the next hour or more provided no useful information. "We'll know more soon" every time. Turns out there was a faulty door seal on the plane. The solution was to leave security and wait in their ticket line for a new flight. New flight option was to fly to Dallas later that night, then fly to LA in the morning. Not ideal, but like I said, things happen. Then they put us back on THE SAME PLANE over an hour after that one was supposed to take off, because they had one person giving out hotel vouchers for our layover in Dallas. That plane, the same plane as the first attempted flight, has the same problem 15 minutes into the flight, and we're back in MSP again. Back to the ticket line, very poor re-booking options. Finally my fiance and I got an American Airlines flight to Chicago, and then to LA, and we arrived in LA almost exactly 24 hours late. Better late than dead, no question. But Spirit would not pay for our cab home, or cover any of our expenses that we incurred spending over 10 hours in the airport that day. VERY DISAPPOINTING. We will never fly Spirit again, and we'll make sure to let everyone we know hear about this misadventure...
