Very cool. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Avianca also serves hot food and they don’t charge for wine and/or other drinks. The airplanes are very clean and love the mini screen behind each seat. They also have descent movie selections."

The flight was delayed for starters. But it’s such a short flight so everything was okay for the price. Seats don’t recline and no refreshments were offered but once again, the flight was quick and smooth.

Flight from Cartagena - Bogota - Lima. When I arrived at the airline counter in Cartagena to fly to Bogota the reps requested a PCR test result from me although for travel to Peru within 24 hours, only an antigen test is required, not a PCR test. I had a negative Covid antigen test result from the airport clinic just before checking in for the flight. Subesequent to that, I requested that that the airline at least honor the flight from Cartagena to Bogota thinking that when I arrived in Bogota, as it is a more international airport, I would be able to convince a manager there that the current travel regulations to Peru only require a Covid antigen test within 24 hours of travel to Peru. The airline reps and manager refused to even honor my flight ticket from Cartagena to Bogota athough no Covid test at all is required for travel within Colombia. The female attendants scoffed at me. Furthermore, the male staff person got incredibly aggressive with me in front of everyone in the airport to the point where I had to step back thinking he was going to get physical with me. In all of my travel to 54 countries and 51 years of travel, I have never been treated this poorly by an airline. I had to go to the counter of another airline where I was able to purchase another ticket to Bogota and was able to fly out that hour by paying for another ticket. Fortunately, my bank has granted me a chargeback although I was forced to pay more for a ticket purchased at the counter of another airline. I am SURPRISED this Viva Airlines is even in business!

I guess my comment is on the extras and as they charge for it, you know is a low cost service, but the extras or unknown could be charged at a much normal rate.

This is not what I understood when booking and is not clearly explained at the time of purchase. One attendant at the gate in particular was forceful and rude when insisting that I pay over $66 in cash at a moment when going to the ATM would mean potentially missing boarding and not arriving back in time to the gate. This process, which I agreed to because two staff members gave me the impression that I could not travel on the flight unless I paid right there instantly in CASH (completely ridiculous), caused me anxiety and took a long time, too long given the urgency of boarding the flight. I had to wait for change for 5 minutes and as a result, I was the last one to board. It should be noted that this process of paying for a maleta in hand at the gate had been preceded by having to pay over $20 in cash to print a boarding pass, which required another ATM withdrawal and fee. This is a weak and predatory business model, which seeks to exploit people’s need to travel and their anxiety. This was carried out in a completely unprofessional and manipulative manner by the staff members. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and exploitative."

You have to print one from home or use an internet cafe at the airport that charges $6 to print a single sheet of paper. They jam your carry on bag into a small box. Boarding took longer than the flight! The seats are incredibly cramped yet they recline all the way back, so you're likely to have someone in your lap for the entire trip. Absolutely horrible. Nothing like other high quality discount airlines such as Air Asia which at least treat you like a human being."

No point asking how food was on a flight without any food served, other than for sale items. Seat felt like a piece of thick plywood without any cushion. I'd consider paying for a front wide cushioned seat in the future. Zero entertainment: you could at least offer your own company magazine to read. Thought flight attendants needed a uniform and appearance update. I was trying to imagine an emergency situation and how the attendant with hair so long that it would be a problem... Lastly, the pilot's descent caused incredible physical duress to my wife's ears. We rarely have any problems landing but we were both in pain most of the remainder of the day.

I show up my ticket is not recognized. I am Told in order to board I have to purchase another flight. FRONT counter at MIA was rude extremely! I was forced to purchase a flight and when I check In I was told I had two seats u see the same name the gate entrance to plane. I was Charged extra 100$ for the unnecessary one way flight. By the the worse experience with spirit and I been with you guys for over 5 years I am calling the kayak / spirit and Bank of America this was ridiculous.

Food and enternaiment

The delayed flight caused me to miss my connection and I was stranded in the airport all night. No vouchers for hotels. The only solution was to go to a different airport at my expense to arrive at another airport 1 hr and 20 minutes from my original destination. At a total cost of over 160 $ of Uber expenses. The luggage team has forgotten to send our stuff. We waited for a long time. Someone called and we heard them that our car seat is there inside the black plastic and that they will send it out but they never did. Very disappointed! Now how can we leave our house without a car seat? Yea they let us borrow a car seat that’s not even working well and that is not appropriate for the age of my daughter. Will never book with spirit again! Very disappointed!

Spirit is the worst US airline. Their business model is to inconvenience customers to save money, such as with long wait times at check in. It’s also an airline that makes no effort or be organized or take passenger comfort into account. The flight staff is also rude and demonstrates an attitude or superiority to customers. Budget airline passengers deserve to be treated with a bit more respect.

Spirit has been improving steadily. The planes are still pretty basic and they have separate just for almost everything except breathing. But the prices are cheap and they have been more consistently on time. I think it is a good value. Certainly a better value than American and Southwest, both suck.

It was not a full flight so I had lots of space. Also I was given an exit seat which was great. Crew was very friendly. We took and got back Miami even earlier than scheduled. Thank you spirit.
