Plane was too small for the trip from Newark to O'Hare, particularly compared with the flight from O'Hare to Kansas City. We were in the back of the plane so my wife's roll-aboard was checked. Because the stewardesses were making room for those inconsiderate passengers with roll-aboards, my bag had to go under the seat ahead of me with my coat. It was a hot, cramped and uncomfortable flight. Overall a triumph for the MBA types running United."

This was the first time I had ever been asked to pay for my carry-on luggage, and the basis for me to never fly Frontier ever again. They claim that it was because of the ticket I purchased through a third party, and I told them that they should not advertise any tickets where you intend to charge people for their carry-on luggage. To make things worse, it appears that Frontier does not participate with the TSA pre-check program, and even though I had my global entry card with me, the officer at TSA pre-check would not allow me through this line because of the airline I was flying with - Never again!!! I suspect that on my way back I'll be forced to pay another $45 for my carry-on luggage, which I despise."

Pros: "The flight cost was cheap, but was never informed that carrying on a bag I would have to pay for it. Wasn't aware that I would also be charged for selecting my seat. Beverages, including water, and food were also not included in the cost, and were relatively expensive. I used the app to check in 24 hours before my flight. I arrived at the airport and wanted to double check that I was checked in for my flight because I felt uneasy about it. The women at the check in said the mobile app does not count as a boarding pass and etc. So I needed to wait to be checked in. While getting in line to board the plane, a couple infront of me had their boarding passes on their phones and had no problem boarding with the app. I think there was a little miscommunication with the app and workers."

They never explained the fees until after I was trying to print out my boarding pass and I was charged $40 per carry-on (3 of us were travelling). Give a head's up about your fees!!!!!! Pros: "The crew treats you better than crews on more expensive airlines, and they have a great sense of humor. You can tell that positivity and how they interact with passengers is a priority in the hiring and training process. A lot of people have complained about having to pay extra for carry-ons and other luggage, but Frontier is REALLY clear about their policy for baggage when you book, so these people shouldn't have been shocked. It is a great deal for people who only travel with one small bag, and I'm glad that there is an airline that offers such cheap flights for light travelers. If you need to take a lot of luggage, you can add the cost as you are booking and then decide if it's the best deal before you finalize payment. Overall, it was a very good experience. You aren't going to get a ton of extras for free on this airline, but if getting to point B from point A with a nice flight crew is all that matters to you, Frontier is a great deal."

Overall my flight cost was $130 more than anticipated with the hidden fees. The seats on the flight to my destination were old and uncomfortable and my seat did not recline (and I paid $30 for the super stretch seating)."

Losing a whole day of productivity when you own a small business is catastrophic. Frontier really screwed me over."

Cons: "Imagine an all you can eat buffet for $5 with all the best things like prime rib and king crab legs. The reality sets in when they charge you $55 for a plate and an $25 for a fork to eat with. If you want to drink there is an additional $25 water service fee. If you need to use the bathroom that will cost you an additional $50. Your $5 buffet has now cost you $160. The only difference between the above scenario and my flight was the buffet actually cost $300 to start with before piling on the additional fees. It is the only airline that flies directly to Myrtle Beach from here. I had no zero options otherwise without long layovers. The one redeeming thing about this flight was the crew."

Everything about the actual flight there and back as far as seating, entertainment, and comfort felt substandard and the epitome of bare minimum though. I understand the concept of not paying for extra accommodations unless they are desired (I even sprang for the opportunity to pick a window seat) but it really feels like Spirit Airlines is trying to give me as little for my dollar as possible with the uncomfortable seats and lack of in flight entertainment. The only thing that's good about this airline is the pricing."

Staff wasn't interactive/friendly I'd say 6/10 were nice. Asked for an isle seat the person helping at counter, said I'd have to pay to upgrade. Seriously- upgrade for isle seat!! I paid to have an isle seat on all 4 flights(I'm a disabled vet who was injured in the line of duty) I need easy access to toilets I'm unable to crawl over people, in turn need idle seat). Paid for isle seat all 4 flights- just to see the flights were super empty, people were sitting where they wanted anyway. Thanks for taking my $ for the seats tho spirit:-|. Staff wasn't that friendly compared to other airlines I've flown on. Not food. No entertainment on flight. Not worth it. If they don't do better business they won't last long I feel. There is potential just needs some work!"
Cons: "I booked one ticket from Denver to Baltimore, but found out I would be charged twice ($80 in total) for checking one bag. While i did have a layover in Chicago and this indeed was only one trip, Spirit denied this and said that since I had a layover, they were two separate tickets. This is unacceptable. My ticket said Chicago was a layover. It is absurd to be charged twice for baggage on one single trip. Last time I fly Spirit!!!"

Cons: "The crew on my first flight were very accommodating and friendly, but on my second flight they were NOT so friendly and everyone around me was talking about how rude and unfriendly they were. This was my first time flying on Spirit and I asked for a pillow and the response I received from the Flight Attendant was "What!....we don't have pillows" Another reason I was unhappy was because on my connecting flight from Texas to Chicago we were delayed on the plane and NOBODY told us what the problem was and why we were not moving to the runway. After 42 minutes we were told "we are waiting for paperwork from Maintenance" that is it! Not how long they expect the wait to be or come around and offer us some drinks or snacks. The Flight Attendants DID NOT even walk the aisle....not even once! We finally took off after 75 minute delay. It was if we were on the plane alone...this is not how I would have handled the situation. I also obtained the Spirit credit card to rack up some miles, but not I am giving it a second thought!"

Pros: "The service was poor. Flight attendant did not even bother to ask me if I wanted to purchase any drinks on the flight. Also flight attendant did not allow me to use to restroom on the aircraft. She shook her finger at me as I walked up and did a turn around sign to indicate that I needed to use the other restroom. I waited 30 minutes to use the other restroom while she stood there in front of the restroom in the front of the aircraft. I have never been restricted to use the restroom before on any airline. The flight also was not full and I asked if I could relocate my seat because the person next to me kept nugging into me and being really close to me and I felt really uncomfortable. Flight attendant told me that the seats are assigned and that they could not do anything about it even though there were plenty of empty seats. They said if I wanted to switch seats then I would have to pay a fee. I have never had an airline tell me that if there were a large amount of empty seats remaining."

Cons: "My flight got cancelled because of "weather" and they could only reschedule for the next night. I lost two days of my precious vacation time and the airline didn't try even in the least bit to make it up to me. On top of that I discovered that they charge for carry-ons which made flying with them not as cheap as they advertise. In fact I would have saved quite a bit had I flown with another airline. The airplanes were dirty, crumbs and trash scattered everywhere, I was almost scared to sit down. The seats were so thin and close together that I could feel every movement of the person behind me and I couldn't even be grouchy because my knees also hit the seat in front of me and I am by no means large. The staff was unprofessional, loudly discussing their plans, I learned all about their favorite happy hours in which they were going to visit later. All in all, spirit is hands down the worst airline I have ever flown with."
