Pros: "Well, I had to stuff everything in my purse into my backpack to avoid paying a $50 luggage fee. In the process I lost my cell phone. Also got in too late to use MARTA to get home, so had to cab it. Whatever I saved by booking this excruciatingly long (but cheap) flight was lost in the details of no cell phone and no option to use public transit. But really, it's not Spirit's fault. I'm just telling you cuz you asked."

Cons: "Initially the price was much lower than other airlines but you end up having to pay extra to reserve your seats (i was traveling with a group so we wanted to make sure that we sat together) plus you have to pay to check a bag (40 lbs or less) OR to carry on. By the time we paid all the fees we realized that we could have gone with a better airline because the price ended up being about the same when it was all said and done. On top of all that, there are no complimentary snacks or beverages (not even water) so bring snacks before boarding the plane. With all that said, the flight crew was awesome and really nice/helpful."

Cons: "Spirit cancelled my flight due to weather and was unable, they said to put me on any other plan until so late that I would lose 3 days of a 7 day vacation. What airline does that? An airline that won't get my business again."

Cons: "Spirit baggage fees are ridiculous.. Especially having to pay for your carry-on compared to every other airline. Deceiving low fare flights only to up charge elsewhere. And checked baggage limit is 40 lbs vs 50 lbs at other airlines. I packed my suitcase with plenty of room left since I couldn't even pack anything else with a 40 lb weight limit."

Cons: "No, first when we started boarding, it was halted because something was wrong with the plane and it needed maintenance. It was repaired after some time. We boarded the plane at 6:15. Some people on the plane were going to Oakland and had already missed their connections were given option of staying in hotel in NY or staying in hotel in Detroit. 20 people deplaned and their checked luggage was removed. Then they reboarded. It was a fiasco and killed enough time that the NW route closed because of a bad storm and it took a while to reroute us. Was horrible."

Cons: "Flight was cancelled and the airline never contact us even in the email to inform us, we were delay on our appointments because of that, they charged high price for the carryon bag $57 which should be free while they didn't even mention that in the booking process, no free beverages not even a water, on the return we arrived nearly than the scheduled time again without informing us and I received an email after an hour from the arrival, I will never use this airline in the future"

Pros: "I booked this flight late but paid through the nose. A long lay over When i asked where the sound tunnel was at the Detroit airport, Spirit employees said I couldn't go there WRONG! I went and it was fine. This is one airline you do not want to book last minute because they charge you top dollar and then it's a middle row seat, ($20 to chhose your own seat) NOTHING is complimentary, snacks, drinks or even water. Employees ill informed and not helpful but they smile right at you while their saying it."

Cons: "2 hour layover in Detroit turned into a 6 hour layover due to sick crew."

Cons: "4 1/2 hour delay due to mechanical problem, $40 baggage charge EACH way on round trip flight -- so be sure to add $80 to the ticket price"

Cons: "It is difficult trying to get into the seat. Can't stand up straight. Have to bend my knees and stoop while walking side wards to get to seat."

Pros: "Nothing. There was nothing good about this. The people at the desk did the best they could, but they work for a terrible company."
Cons: "It's bad enough that they canceled the flight (which ultimately went on to LV and then OAK) without any warning minutes before we were about to board. But then they refused to let us go on the first leg of the flight (to Detroit) by having already removed our bags from the plane without asking. Then, to top it all off, their next available flight was 2 days later! I'm out the money for cab fare, hotels, and the money I missed from having to take a day off of work to book a flight with another airline (United, you saved me, and also didn't charge money for a glass of water!). If Spirit wants to reimburse me for all that, it would definitely change my opinion of them, but I'm not holding my breath."

Cons: "This may be a cheap airline, but they charge you for a carry on at least $50, $65 at the terminal, and $100 on the plane. Very atypical and cheap. There is also no free water or snacks. I Am a small person, but have never felt so squished in my life on a plane."

Pros: "Got a last minute upgrade and sat in the larger seats at the front of the plane, much needed after a busy trip to New York. Flight was safe and early!"

Cons: "I gave Spirit a second chance after a bad first experience last year. I shouldn't have. I was charged $200 to change my flight after realizing that I booked the wrong day and was trying to get home to Kansas City for a funeral the next day. I received zero assistance. I had no choice since it was a death in the family, but I wish I would have had a different option and not flown Spirit. The flight itself was awful too - smelled bad and there was a fly flying around the entire time. Just bad."

Cons: "Flight was delayed without announcement, spirit destroyed my luggage, and the crew barely followed procedure before and after departure,"

Cons: "Deceiving airline. Every move was a motive to suck money out of you. The counter agents were blatant shamelessly rude even to handicapped people. I love kayak I don't think kayak should be associated with such kind of disgusting behavior and conduct!"

Actually that worked in my favor as I got stuck in a horrid traffic jam; the most interesting part was getting to the gate , sitting there with many folks in the aisles trying to leave; the pilot gets on the speaker and says he cannot turn the engines off nor open the door to let us off; not to worry, he called ahead! to let the ground crew know about our trouble; some type of external unit had to be used to allow those things to work; the first unit didn't work but the second did> I probably won't fly spirit ever again."

Cons: "Sold, thru advertising by spirit airlines, an inexpensive flight. Booked 2 tickets & had to cancel one 2 days prior. No refund. Charged $55 for checked bag & $65 for carry on. Cost me $800 for a round trip to Detroit. Could have driven for $150. Spirit airlines has just sold me the last flight of my lifetime. Come Hell or High water; never again will I fly a commercial airline. Scammed out of money I can not afford. Do not contact me. Do not email me. Do not advertise to me. Now I let it go. Do not bring it back."

Pros: "The price point is the only benefit for flying Spirit."
Cons: "Flight crew was uncaring about passengers and at times rude. The plane itself, while relatively new, is incredibly uncomfortable. The "bare fare" model which requires paid upgrades for service that would be considered basic/included anywhere else leaves you with nothing but a seat. You get what you pay for with Spirit, and next time I will not fly with Spirit. It's worth it to pay the little bit more and fly with a better airline."

Pros: "I selected random seating and got the 2nd row. Lots of leg room but the sides of the seat were quit constricting"
Cons: "The lga terminal is terrible, a.c was extremely poor, not enough seating, food options are terrible, and communication from the actual gate was worse. It's tucked away in the corner and there wasn't enough seating so I had to sit in another section therefore I could never hear any announcements, even though I gather there weren't many made even with an hour plus delay. Also, I am 6 months pregnant and travel quit a bit for work. It amazes me how flight attendants do not offer to assist with putting up my luggage. I never willingly chose spirit as my airline, I will do anything in my power to fly another but it just so happens this week was drastically cheaper so I had to select your airline and I am definitely not willing to do so again"

Pros: "Kayaks customer service alerts me to the fact that my flight was canceled."
Cons: "FLUGHT WAS CANCELED due to "weather". There was no weather anywhere in the country, and I'm pretty sure they just didn't have a full flight so they cut their losses. Had to spend 3.5x as much to re-book on Delta. Should have spent the extra bit of money when I booked in the first place and saved hundreds from buying short notice. Spirit customer service was not very helpful, though they did give me a refund. Made for a very stressful morning!!!"

Cons: "I received a confirmation email that the flight was on time 3 hours before it was scheduled, so I left my house for the airport. Upon check-in I was notified the flight was cancelled. I asked to be put on the next flight to my destination, but Spirit advised there was not another flight until 6:30 pm that night. My original flight was scheduled for 8:30am. I also asked if there were other airlines they could book me on, and the Spirit representative said no, they could not put me on another airline. Additionally, my American Airlines return flight had to be cancelled since I was not going to make it. It was already too late to cancel that flight unless I wanted to pay a $200 dollar fee. All in all, a net loss of about $900 due to the nonrefundable return flight, cabs booked to and from the airport, and the nonrefundable hotel- since the cancellation was so last minute. Terrible experience."

Cons: "I took a day off work and woke up at 5am to get to the airport early for my 8:30am flight to MI to visit my 85 year old father while my mother is out of town. My flight was cancelled because the pilots didn't show up, according to the woman at the desk. I was given the option to get a flight the next day, a refund, or a flight on another airline. I do appreciate being put on Jet Blue so that I could arrive the day intended. Only problem is, I was put on a flight from NY to FL to MI with a 4.5 hour layover adding 10 hours onto my original itinerary. She told me that was my best option. I was fine with that, but immediately after I stepped away from the desk I heard other people had been put on direct flights that would've only added a few hours onto my travel time rather then 12. I was told I had to go to the back of the line, which would've taken at least three hours to get through, and that they probably couldn't make any changes anyway. My flight back home was only an hour and fifteen minutes, but there was a 30 minute delay. I will never fly with Spirit again. FYI, I had called their phone number and after going back and forth before the operator finally said she couldn't do anything, they tried to get me to sign up for MasterCard. I had to say no three times."

Cons: "Flight cancelled an hour and a half before departure. Lying crew members said it was weather related to avoid having to place travellers on other carriers. Nasty, no help, said they could get us to our destination 2 days later. We rented a car a drove 12 hours instead, arriving home at 3:30am. My sons friend, who was flying with us to attend camp for 4 days, is now not here. They ruined the experience for both of them. Agent said there was a full ground stoppage at LaGuardia. Bulls--t. The Delta flight scheduled for the exact same time on the exact same route, took off and landed no problem. NEVER fly Spirit!!!"

Cons: "All the money hustle, it's sickening. I could NOT understand the In flight announcements because of the thick accent of the attendant."

Cons: "My flight was cancelled, and the automated customer service machine I received when calling to book a new flight was highly annoying in the stressful situation. I assume Spirit is attempting to be funny and "hip," but the recording, which began with acknowledging that the machine is "not a human" was condescending and off-putting; obviously it's not a human, and most people would rather speak to humans so emphasizing that fact only hurt my opinion of Spirit's customer service. The process for rescheduling a cancelled flight is also very bizarre; I had to ask explicitly for help scheduling a new flight; the customer service agent (when I finally spoke to a real person) tried to give me a voucher for a future flight and then hang up. He was also condescending in his tone when asking me to confirm my billing information, despite my being polite and patient with him. This is all not to mention the fact it's ridiculous I was required to pay the difference for a new flight when Spirit cancelled my original flight. Will be avoiding Spirit in the future."

Pros: "One the flight a women and her child were having a hard time. The toddler was scared and was crying for about 15 minutes. I really appreciated that the flight attendants did their best to help the mom out and were not rude to her. They were very understanding that children cry and very patient and respectful to the mother. I thought it should great service as well as maturity of the staff. It was nice to watch a mother not have deal with rude staff on top of having a distressed child."

Cons: "I left my carry on bag at my departure gate by accident. When I asked the Spirit airline manager if I could get the money I paid for the carry on back. I was told the money was not reimbursable. What a rip off!"

Cons: "Everything, they made us wait 7 hours, I paid for my bag, though, they didn`t notify me on my ticket. Terrible."

Cons: "First of all, I was never informed of the exorbitant fees for having a bag. I've been flying since I was literally in diapers, and have NEVER heard of paying for a carry -on. Especially something ridiculous like $55. I did not have the money at check in, and the people operating the kiosks were miserable, mopey, unhelpful drones. I ultimately had to call a friend and ask for money to be wired for this unexpected gauge. I was lucky to have gotten there so early- I have never spent so much time in an airport Pre-security. It's disgusting to have a business model based on such deceit- lure customers in with a cheaper flight price, only to stick them with pricey fees for virtually EVERYTHING once they get to the airport. Sleazy business at best. Once on the flight, there was so little legroom I could hardly sit up straight without my knees pushing into the seat in front of me. I felt bad for the attendants reading off scripted bland jokes on the intercom. Needless to say, I will NEVER be flying Spirit again, and will be advising all of my friends similarly."

Cons: "I understand if the flight is cancelled due to weather conditions, but we were able to get on another flight at the exact same time to the exact same destination, just through another airline. In addition, prior to my cancelled flight I barely received any emails letting me know of the status change and received NO phone text message. Spirit should text every person if a flight is cancelled. Lastly, it has now been 6 full days and no one has reached out about my refund. I requested it at the airport but have not received anything in the mail or via phone call. Disappointing customer service and horrible management."

Pros: "The Spirit staff were all very nice and the flight arrived on time."
Cons: "I'd rather pay more. Having to pay for both a carry-on and a checked bag, as well an anything to drink was terribly lame. The seats are just too close together to be remotely comfortable. Next time I'll pay a few dollars more and ride JetBlue in comfort."

Pros: "Laguardia is a tough airport. The gate area is among the worst I've seen in my travels. I did like the way the gate attendants had designated aisles for Zone 1 - 4, it made it simpler and more quick to board."

Pros: "The crew were all very friendly. The plane was extremely clean. The flight went smoothly without delay. I always travel light, so no bag fees to complain about."
Cons: "It would be nice if the seats had a bit more padding and head rests for napping. It really is like being on a bus that flies. No real complaints though."

Pros: "Absolutely nothing."
Cons: "Showed up to the airport an two hours early for an international flight. Tried to check in the day before online but their website said I needed to see a representative at the check in counter. There i waited for 35 mins while they tried to sort out my issue. After keeping me, I asked if there was any way to expedite my security procedures and they said there was no possible way of doing that. Being Christmas Eve and a very busy airport, I proceeded to wait in the security line for 25+ minutes. By the time I had finally made it through and to my gate, my flight had already left the gate 10 minutes ahead of time. After missing my flight on Christmas Eve, they made little attempt to help me, telling me the next availability flight wasn't until three days later. By this point I found another flight which I had to pay for out of pocket, and I asked Spirit Airlines for a refund on the ticket for the flight that THEY made me miss because of time consuming unnecessary prodedures, and they refused to do so. Luckily I was able to find another flight on a DIFFERENT airline to get to my destination. But it ended up costing me a fortune. Spirit airlines is the worst airline ever. So unhelpful and unfriendly. It seems almost as if they set me up to miss my flight under these circumstances. Never fly with them."

Cons: "The flight was delayed by two hours. Upon landing they had an issue opening the doors which took another 30 minutes. Considering they couldn't open the door one would think they could get the bags out and however, that was wishful thinking. We waited for our bags another 40 minutes. The crew did a fair job but, didn't seem committed to performing an excellent client experience."

Pros: "crew had a sense of humor with all the problems."
Cons: "delays after delays, and even after landing we sat in the airplane for 30 minutes because the door was broken..."
