Rather than being put on the next plane, I was forced to miss not only my original one, but 2 further ones. So rather than arrive, as scheduled, at 15:15 I will arrive over 9 hours later, after midnight. Could have been handled better by Avianca."

Cons: "The flight was delayed for more than an hour at Dulles. When we arrived in Bogota, at 9:40 we had time to catch the connecting flight to Montevideo which was scheduled to leave at 10:20pm.... but instead we stayed in the tarmac without moving for over 45 minutes. There were over 30 passengers that were to take that connecting flight, so the airline had plenty of reasons to wait for us. Instead the airline, AVIANCA, chose to leave all of us stranded in Bogota for 24 hours. We will have all type of problems because of this we had hotel reservations as well as car rental reservations that may be lost because we didn't showed up. By the way according to one of the passengers whose husband travelled on the same flight the day before. The same thing happened to him 1 day earlier."

Cons: "all the flights that I was on didn't even start boarding until about 20 minutes before the plane was supposed to take off. This resulted in all the flights I was on being around 45 minutes to an hour late taking off. The cabin size was very small, it was hard to fit my stuff in the overhead compartment. not a lot of legroom and for a 6 foot one guy, this was a bit of an issue and I had some intense leg pain from my position. for the low-cost flight that I got I did have some seemingly out-of-the-way layovers and they were also quite long. would be great to see airplanes that The option to choose a bunk bed instead of a regular seat so that you could rest on redeye flights or just take naps in general."

Cons: "We were seated in the back row and the seats did not recline. What made that even worse, is they are COMPLETELY upright. I mean you are sitting at nearly a 90 degree angle! The other rows un-reclined had more recline than the last row. This was an older 737 and those seats never should have been installed on that plane. Luckily, there were a few empty seats and we were able to move, although not together. 3 of our 4 flights were on newer planes, and on one other flight we were also seated in the back row. But, those seats reclined and were as comfortable as any other seat on the plane. COPA, if you're reading this, kudos to your great operation, but do NOT use that horrible old 737 on such a long flight. Or, only use those seats for standbys!"

Pros: "First of all, not sure if is because of the flight is to La Havana, but before boarding a member of Copa is checking all passengers to size them the luggage, a means you are able to carry on 10 kg, but even if they won't force you to check it your carry on bag, besides once you are in the plane it wasn´t any air conditioning, there were about 100+ people without air conditioning and even during the flight to La Havana, just when they arrived requested to close the windows to make the air conditioning flowing on the plane!!!! What was that???? I mean 2.15hrs without it and then they request something that they don´t provide!!!!"

Cons: "Please see my previous review for my updated itinerary. This Panama City --> Cartagena flight did not happen and instead I was routed to Chicago--> Newark --> Bogota --> Cartagena. The last flight was operated by Avianca. DUE TO the fact that my very last, 55-minute, domestic flight in Colombia was operated by Avianca, it was to my very unpleasant surprise that United decided they were not going to be responsible for the bag which was left behind IN CHICAGO. I emphasize it's in Chicago, because that would not fall under Avianca's responsibility but rather United. I've had an absolutely awful time trying to get in touch with United and Avianca customer service, I've received both conflicting and incorrect/untrue information from both parties, and it's been 4 days now that instead of enjoying my family vacation I've been trying to sort this mess out with my missing luggage. DISASTROUS"

There was more leg room than most other domestic air travel companies I have been on. There was no upgrade charge for every little thing, such as blankets, pillows, etc. We were fed on each flight, and alcoholic beverages were at no additional charge. The exit tax to leave Costa Rica was included in our ticket, which I was not aware of until I was leaving the country. (nice surprise). Over all, most other airline companies in the USA have made changes that improve their bottom line, but they have completely ruined any favorable aspect of traveling with their airline (American Airlines, Frontier, Southwest, Delta, etc). Copa has done a great job of providing great service and cost for travelers. Please do not change your business strategy by removing some of the above mentioned benefits I enjoyed in order to improve your profit margin. It is refreshing to know there are still air carriers out there that retain the service that is hoped for by most travelers. Also, Roxana and her entire flight crew were outstanding. Thank you , I will fly with you anytime I have the chance."
Pros: "But... when I purchased a tkt online. For some reason the name on last ticket I purchased was on the next COPA ticket. A 300.00 purchase. Because COPA does not change ticket holders names it was a total loss. I bought the ticket for a student in Cali to come and meet me in Panama City I couldn't afford to buy a second ticket so Victor stayed home. Every other Airline charges a minimal fee to make changes on a ticket so now there is a credit at Copa Airlines for a person that will never ever use it.... such a waste of time and money. Pros: "The crew on all of the flights were all very nice. At the end of the day, my suitcase did end up getting shipped to my house within a few days. It was just a little unorganized throughout the process of tracking it down."
Cons: "Following this, my flight in Bogota left 3 hours late. Not only did we board at the time we were supposed to be leaving, but then sat on the runway for an hour and a half before having to go back to the gate to refuel.... All passengers sat on the plane for 3 hours in Bogota before we ever took off with little to no communication as to why. Upon landing in Miami, my bag was then missing which honestly wasn't a big deal - I knew I'd get it back eventually. But with my new flight, I wasn't entirely sure which flight my bag should be with and which airlines (Copa or Avianca) I should go to regarding it. The staff for both were incredibly rude. My suitcase was the one missing and I was the happier, nicer one out of everyone I spoke to. I was told it would be shipped to my house which was great until I got an email saying I could pick up my suitcase at the airport. After searching for 2 hours of where to go and all staff pointing me to a different spot and offering little help, I tried calling the Avianca number I was given for any questions. Unfortunately, there wasn't going to be anyone who spoke English in until after my flight took off. After getting to my final destination, I tried calling the number again to try and sort out where my suitcase was and no one spoke English or could direct me to someone who could. I had to have my friend in Cali call the main office for me to find that my bad was still in Bogota after all of that."

Cons: "Copa placed passangers in scattered seats even if they were together, we had to talk to other passangers to switch spots. The crew was unhelpful most of the time. Boarding was totally disorganized, it reminded me of a persian market trying to go though a single door, all at once. Security bands to form lines were obviously unavailable. The whole experience was like riding an old bus with no technology, and it’s entertainment was along these lines."

On May 10, flight 265 they provide me with one up to the boarding door and advice me that they did not have personnel to provide the service from there to the plane entrance. That also happen to other people that were handicap. After discussions and protest they provide one person to move one by one the persons that were handicap."
Cons: "I was seated at an exist row at the window seat. The crew would not allow our row to stay seated at the exit row because she said we did not know Spanish well. Instead of finding us replacement of a window and aisle seats we had to take middle seats. She didn't even make an effort to ask if anyone would switch out. I wish airlines would train their crew to think out of the box style and practice customers service, which finds solutions and not state rules. In the end - people migrated to the exist aisle anyway (where we were seated) and made it into a bed."
Cons: "Copa cited some airport restriction on number of people they could accommodate on the plane due to weather and how this was handled and processed by the ground crew was just terrible. This affected a number of passengers -- 30 or more, by my estimates. And it started with the leg from Panama to San Francisco not checked in automatically and getting placed on standby. The call center did not offer a suitable explanation for the airport's weather restriction. As a frequent flier on the Star Alliance, I have not seen a situation handled as poorly as this. The ground staff seem very poorly trained to handle what seems to be a frequent situation. And despite most affected travelers being there early with a layover began to resolve this only 45 min before the flight. My appetite to fly Copa from San Francisco has vastly diminished. And so has the desire to fly through Panama City, if weather is as fickle as they say it is."
Pros: "I was bumped from an overbooked Copa flight and was offered another that would get me home at 1am (rather than 3pm) or an overnight stay and a flight the next morning. Instead of trying to find a way home from the airport (a 1+ hour ride) in the middle of the night, I opted to stay in Panama overnight. Copa put me up in a very nice Sheraton in downtown Panama City with a pool, several restaurants, a casino... They gave me $20 per meal I'd be staying for (lunch, dinner, and the following breakfast), arranged a shuttle to and from the airport, and, the best part, a $1000 voucher for future flights with Copa within the next year - enough for two more round trip flights."
Cons: "Communication was minimal or false. When I checked my bag, the agent told me that I was being placed on standby because of a weight limit on the plane. She assured me that the flight wasn't full and that I would absolutely get a seat. When I got to the gate, there was minimal information available, but about 12-15 people were on standby, including two families of 4 and 5 people. The agents were ill-informed and didn't immediately explain why so many of us were on standby and whether anyone would make it on the plane, or what the other options were for those who wouldn't make it on the plane. Eventually four or five people boarded, another few got moved to a later flight, and 6 including me were put up in a hotel. Betzy, a gate agent for Copa at Tocumen, was absolutely wonderful and so helpful and informative with all of this."

Cons: "Long wait at airport check in so glad we arrived almost 3 hrs before our flight. Staff was pleasant but for some reason desk agent told us that the flight was completely sold out and without telling us, put my wife and I in middle seats in different rows. We were at airport very early and didn't realize until boarding what she had done. In flight staff assisted on the flight and moved us to an exit row where we were able to sit together. Luckily I counted at least 6 open seats and in the end we were happy. I'm not sure why she did what she did. Ironically, she (gate agent) was incredibly nice. Maybe it was simply and honest mistake."

Cons: "In Panama City we had to go through a secondary security at the gate and had some of our belongings taken from us.. belongings that are normally allowed through security in the U.S... and because of this we had to have our fragile items put below with all the baggage and be sent to baggage claim.. which was extremely scary for us and frustrating. We were held inside the security of the airport without be allowed to leave to use the restroom, buy water or eat food."

Airport in FLL was a mess. It took over 2 hours from disembarking until I exited the airport. Massively inefficient customs and immigration checks.

There could have been another option offered, or put us on another flight even if it was through another airline."
Cons: "Passengers were held for an hour inside airplane upon arrival from Panama to Fort Lauderdale, resulting in missing 8:30am flight to Atlanta. Spirit customer service put us on “wait list” for the next 12:25 flight to Atlanta (no luck), then 5:10 pm (no luck). Then standing in long line to get confirmed flight at 10:55pm, which is already delayed to 11:28pm. Our layover was expected to be 2 hours, but extended to 15 hours (assuming, no additional delay). What a waste of life!"
Cons: "Staff were incredibly rude - plane was very delayed - I missed my connection at Fort Lauderdale because my flight was so delayed, yet Spirit was only willing to put me on a flight several days later (without paying for my hotel) or give me a partial refund for only the flight from Fort Lauderdale to BWI (even though they flew me to Fort Lauderdale then basically left me there). I have to say again, their staff were incredibly rude, at every single point of my roundtrip from BWI to Panama; it makes sense that only rude people would be okay with working for such a terrible airline company. Spirit has nothing but hidden fees and tricks to scam you out of as much money as possible too. I will never fly with Spirit again"

Cons: "couple of issues: #1.Spirit Website and Mobile apps keep crashing and several of us who booked your airlines were not able to utilize mobile boarding passes. In the age of mobility this User Experience (UX Design) should be a priority. #2. When we were trying to leave Costa Rica again we had issues with your Bar Code Scanners. We were able to download on our phone but when we go to customs after waiting in long lines we were told that they were not accepting Spirit airlines bar codes. You were the only airlines with long lines. Not even the kiosk was able to print boarding passes so we had to wait in long lines just to get a print out from the service desk."

Cons: "At least 12 delay changes due to mechanical failure. Original departure was around 3pm on Sunday then it changed to 830pm, past midnight then 1 pm Monday. The gate staff was not trained to deal with customer service disputes. We were poorly informed about statuses. A food voucher was given to us minutes before any restaurant closed so I couldn't use it. I ended up booking another flight with another carrier. When the after midnight delay notification was rendered, I called the outsourced customer service and received no recourse for my inconvenience. Not even a comp checked bag. I was given two $50 vouchers but I don't plan to ever use them again. I'd rather have my refund plus the difference for the other flight and rental car I took just to get home. I also have lost wages."

One staff memeber checks your name, another one asks to attach name tag to luggage, another one has a questionnaire for suitcase asking for items in it, this is all before even checking in!! At the gate before boarding there's another huge line because again one staff memeber checks for boarding pass, another checks passport, another one goes through bags and then check in to board plane. Have to buy any food you want to consume, not even water for free."

They nickel and dime you for everything even $10 to print boarding pass. Initial price on Kayak was lower than everyone else, but with all the add ons turned out to be much more expensive. Not allowed to bring tennis racquets on board, have to check them. Jet Blue allows them to be carried on board. Will NEVER fly this airline again."
Pros: "Needless to say, price was a plus. Comparable prices on JetBlue and Avianca on the same CTG to FLL flights were US$300-$400 more at the time of booking. Arrived just in time at the airport for the cutoff provided in the online check-in paperwork and the line was full with all the other passengers for that flight there being processed. I thought surely it would be a long wait and soon the flight would be closed, but we actually moved very swiftly as they had 3 agents tending to the counter. They were all courteous and quick. At the gate, an announcement was made that the flight was overbooked and they offered a couple of volunteers a $500 credit towards Spirit flights as well as being re-booked for next days flight. Once on board, the three flight attendants were also courteous. WI was assigned seat 2F on their A320 v1. Best seat by far I've had assigned without paying for reserving one with Spirit. While it did not recline, I did not find the standard angle detrimental and I had TONS of legroom even when the upgraded row 1 seats ahead were reclined. The flight itself was smooth and quick. We left right on schedule to the T, and parked at our gate about 15 minutes ahead of schedule. Being one of the first out allowed me to zip through immigration without any waits and was out of the airport before our scheduled arrival time! For sure God was blessing me this day. But could it also be that Spirit's new CEO is really turning things around? Lets wait and see how the return flight goes. Stay tuned... AF."

He had explained the boarding process, but failed to start calling by zone. He at least used the proper equipment (microphone & overhead system). But this young lady was screaming... seriously? They could've avoided by: 1. Following protocol, and 2. Being consistent in using the designated communication equipment. Additional training is needed here for sure."

They were told to tell us that we had to switch flights because we wouldn't make the connecting flight, but in fact it was because the flight was overbooked. They said I'd get a hotel and then I had to take a taxi to the hotel where there was no room - as the hotel and had already informed the Spirit airlines staff. By the time I returned to the airport for a new hotel voucher it was 3am - and I'd been at the airport since 12am. Mostly it was also crazy to see the situations of other passengers with that airline. The staff were nice, but I wouldn't even feel safe flying with spirit again, much less like I'd be well served."

They don't even serve water during the flight. Planes are tiny and old. No space. On our flight back home we missed our connection due to a sick passenger. When we got to the gate the plane was just leaving. We were sent to customer service, and the only alternative given to us was a flight three days later. This was outrageous. I was traveling with my 71 year old mom and they expected us to spend three days sleeping at the airport. We refused to do so and bought tickets on delta. Other families with small children who had also lost their flights had no other choice but to stay and wait. This airline treats customers with no courtesy. Clerks are rude and in humane. They could care less if you lose your flight and have to spend days sleeping at the airport. They have literally no customer service. This airline should be shut down by the FAA."

Just for the record, I will never fly Spirit Airlines again. I didn't save money and I didn't enjoy 10 hours of wait time with not believable explanation. (Sent for another plane to fly the route -- same excuse on both flights) Additionally, check in was ridiculously slow. Two clerks to manage hundreds of angry people. The equipment problem that was used as the excuse to send for another plane was justified by the clerk who was checking me in answered my question with the following statement: "You wouldn't want to fly a plane that could fall out of the sky, right? There is no reason that person should be handling customers. That kind of 'in your face' response to an inquiry about a 4 hour delay is unacceptable. We should have been compensated in some way other than be told 'take it or leave it, at our expense. In this case, an 8:55 p.m scheduled departure delayed to 12:30 a.m. boarding time would have gotten us to our destination (LaGuardia to Ft. Lauderdale) at 3:30 a.m. Our pick up plans would have to be scuttled. That, Spirit Airlines is unprofessional and unacceptable. For me, in my first attempt to fly with you, ended any further booking on Spirit Air. With this kind of performance, you will fail. (P.S. The low price of the ticket is pointless when you get charged three times more for booking, bags, checkin, carry on... WATER. I will fly delta next time and they will give me all that for FREE. The seats and plane itself were AWFUL. The seats were extremely uncomfortable and the tray table was smaller than my iPad mini. I am not sure when Spirit changed everything but they lost several customers from it. ,their low prices draw you in."

Spirit switched their flight to a smaller airplane at the last minute and left about a dozen passengers without a seat, left stranded on a flight they PAID FOR, checked in online for, and ARRIVED AT THE AIRPORT over 2 hours in advance for. The price for one piece of checked luggage on Spiritair.com went from $26 a week before the trip,$42 the day before the trip, and then $56 the day of the trip. Not to mention feeling bad for the customers who did not use the kiosk to print their boarding to passes to either have pay the $10 fee at the counter for a boarding pass or go to the Kiosk print out a boarding pass for free then to turnaround and have to rejoin the check-in line all over again if they have to do a baggage drop."
Cons: "I checked in at the airport for my departure to find out that it is legal for spirit to over book their flights, and was told I didn't have a seat. I requested to speak with the manager, (Helen- 67672) after speaking with a young girl who was extremely rude and unprofessional, (Ashley- 66584), and to my surprise the supervisor was just as uninformed and rude as the gate attendant. The flight was delayed, it was a complete mess. On the returning flight. I was unable to check in online for my flight. After numerous attempts, I called the airline to find that you can only check in online or at the airport. I ended up sitting in the very last seat in the back of the plane. It's like the back seat of the plane doesn't exist, no one asked to purchase beverages/snacks, which isn't as bad as forgetting to ask to take away garbage. Such a huge disappointment. I hate flying spirit, as do the majority of passengers I spoke with, but they are the only airline that flies from South Florida to Atlantic City. Whoever the airline is that starts to compete with spirit for that route will most definitely do well!"

Cons: "Showed up almost an hour early to Cleveland airport to fly to another state. The lady tried telling us we missed our trip because she made us go to the kiosk to only get denied by the kiosk and having to go back to her for her to deny us until we flipped out making her realize it's her fault. Charged us extra for carry on baggage because the checked baggage "wouldn't make it." Writing that in a note that we were late...even though it was her fault we were. Our tickets were 218 dollars each we ended up paying 200 dollars for our baggage because you have to pay for both trips which is another round trip ticket to Florida because the lady never told us in Cleveland that we had to buy both ways. Everything on the plane to order was a cost not even water was complimentary. On the way back we got to the airport two hours early to find no one at the counter to help us at the gate...she showed up only about 30 minutes before we boarded, real professional...but we cut our vacation by an hour and a half because we "have to come 90 minutes ahead" to find none of the spirit crew members to be even present. Everything was inconvenient with this airline and not pleasant. Only positive was a lady in Fort Lauderdale that helped us figure out our luggage and did what she could to save us a bit of money. We will never take this airline again."

Expect your seat back to get kicked or kneed for the entire four hours - mine sure was. No Wi-Fi or any form of in-flight entertainment. The longest four hour flight of my life. Everything (I mean everything is extra $$$). Reserved seats, carry-on bags, 40 lb. weight limit on checked bags ($25 if between 41-50 lbs.) Water $3.00. Coke $3.00. If you want anything to eat or drink you pay extra. No ice on flight (They don't refresh the plane or have cleaning service from international locations). No updates or flight information upon arrival. Either staff has had no training for customer service or they just don't care. Probably a combination of both. This airline makes Delta and other "full fare" airlines look like first class even in coach. Over two hours to get bags, clear customs and recheck bags (Transfer) in FLL. Again no customer service even though FLL is their main hub. My first time flying on Spirit and I guarantee that was the last. Stay away from this hack airline."
Cons: "It's sad you only want my review from my return flight. If I had a choice not to fly back on Spirit I wouldn't have. The first flight seats were horrible. The passenger in front of me reclined and the seats rested on my knees and hurt the entire flight. Paying for carry on was absolutely ridiculous. Having to pay for a glass or cup of water, not bottle, was beyond horrific. Flight attendants were not friendly. This experience is so far the worst flight experience I've ever had. It took me a long time just to figure out how to get to a person to speak with and got the message that I might be charged to speak with someone. I hung up. I can't recall having to pay to speak to an employee at any other business. The flight was delayed. 4 hours. They told us it was because of a thunder storm, but later admitted it was a problem with a flight attendants seat. When I got a chance to order a drink I was told they no longer carry scotch. Your tickets may be cheaper, but the experience is not worth it."

But the fact that we were supposed to leave at 7:30pm and didn't end up leaving till 10:30pm because a crew member didn't show up at a previous stop is unacceptable. If I was late to my flight the plane would leave without me so everyone else could be on time. So why don't The same rules apply to The crew? The three hour delay ruined basically our whole trip. We got set back an entire day and instead of getting in at a decent time and being able to drive. Also, Spirit charges and over charges for everything under the sun. Cons: "an hour after our supposed boarding time, we were told that the plane needed to reboot but I would still make my connection flight in Ft Lauderdale. After another 2 hours I was then told that I can board the flight which was now leaving at 3 am opposed to the scheduled 9:30 pm flight, but they did not have another connection flight until the next evening at 9:30. Eventually, I had to cancel my flight and was refunded my money. I spent another 2 hours trying to get my luggage off the plane and the both women, one ticket agent and another Spirit employee were attempting to help me, when i went back to the desk they were gone and didn't return. I had to contact the Tampa Airport so that they could find a Spirit Airline employee to get my luggage. I finally received my luggage at 3:30 am. I had to stay in the airport because my next flight through another carrier was leaving at 730 am. I will NEVER even think about booking another flight with Spirit!! Their customer service was horrible and inconsiderate of any of the patrons who were traveling on that flight. Unfortunately my trip was not for pleasure but due to a loss in the family and they didn't seem to have a care in the world about anyone's cancelled flight. Amongst the few hours that I sat there, every other person that was on the same flight continually complained that this is not their first time traveling with Spirit and there always seemed to be an issue, either flights departing late and being cancelled completely"
Cons: "The crew is very unfriendly. The cost of the ticket was cheap, however the flight was delayed ntil 2:50 AM when we were supposed to take off at 12:00 AM. I arrived at the airport with some of the spirit staff sitting down and letting me know that the flight may be cancelled altogether since it was delayed. The woman at the desk in the MSP airport told me that if "ya'll don't sit in your seats fast, the plane will be cancelled." This was after arriving at the airport around 3AM since my flight was delayed. I get it, the tickets are cheap.... but should the experience and hospitality be so cheap as well?"
Cons: "Our flight was delayed multiple times, without any time info. Only "delayed" but never were we informed for how long. Our gate was moved in the same manner. Once onboard and seated, we all waited with our seatbelts fastened for over forty minutes before the pilot spoke to us and announced that there was a line for the runway and we were waiting our turn. Spirit had rude flight attendants who searched through our bags to make sure we had no water bottles or drinks purchased after the security checkpoint - a shameless extortion effort to secure out purchase of insult priced in flight drinks. The flight attendants insisted that nobody wait for the restroom in flight anywhere near where they were sitting and promptly removed any waiting customers to the aisle. We had a baby on the flight with us and were forced to purchase the incredibly expensive water onboard for the baby, as he had been battling with staying hydrated throughout the vacation. With at least an hour left on the flight, while most everyone on board - (including the baby) had fallen asleep, they woke everyone on the flight through speakers that were about six times too loud and shocking to pass out immigration forms. The only reason I could think of to wake so may visibly sleeping customers with more than an hour left on the flight to fill out the forms is to simply get the task out of the way for the extremely unfriendly and rude attendants. I have never flown on any airline that will search your bags for drinks or treat customers with such blatant disrespect as I have seen during this flight. I have certainly never had an experience this terrible and I will never be purchasing another ticket from Spirit airlines again."
