I didn’t like the two hours and more of delay
Pros: "The boarding process was simple enough"
Cons: "The flight attendants weren’t the nicest. We weren’t greeted or sent off with thank you or smiles. The airline ruined my suitcase somehow. They broke 2 of the 4 wheels."
Pros: "Crew was friendly"
Cons: "Tray tables very dirty, flight overbooked, hard to find gate agents"
Cons: "Flight attendants were not particularly friendly. Food had some odd textures."
Pros: "The flight was quick with food available for purchase. Seats were fine."
Cons: "The gate waiting area was very very watm"
Cons: "bus shuttle ride to plane could have been quicker. standing on a bus in the freezing cold with the doors open was a bad experience"
Cons: "They didn't have the menu item I most wanted, the harvest salad, but no big deal!"
Pros: "Flight was just fine. Josh the flight attendant who was in charge of the main cabin handeled himself very well even while dealing with a boisterous drunk passenger. He was very professional."
Pros: "I’ve taken this flight several times now and it’s always good. Great crew, great service. Love Alaska"
Cons: "We flew to Lihue on a different airline and they provided a free meal. The attendants on that flight were more friendly, carefree and smiled more. This is the second time I flew with Alaska."
Pros: "The flight went exactly as anticipated. 30 minute departure delay due to airport construction, but arrived almost on time."
Pros: "The direct flight from PIT to SEA was awesome!!!"
Pros: "Quick boarding and polite staff"
Cons: "Small and uncomfortable seating. Small windows with no pull down cover"
Pros: "Excellent service. I just saw a flight attendant carrying a toddler so he could be calmed while the mom settled. That was sweet!"
Pros: "I missed the flight and they got me rescheduled and on my way when I showed up at service desk just before cabin closure"
Pros: "Comfort seats"
Cons: "Not a quiet ride, sucks that I have to watch a movie on my phone. Come on"
Pros: "I had additional legroom for some reason, and 2 windows. We didn't die."
Cons: "No in flight wifi, no one asked me if I wanted to order food, the flight was really bumpy. Took forever to board."
Pros: "I'm used to being spoiled by Hawaiian Airlines. By comparison to Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian is a lot warmer with customer service, they are more efficient, they give you a free meal for trans-pacific flights, and they give you a screen or full entertainment system (depending on what kind of airplane you get). Alaska Airlines, by contrast, is a lot more bare-bones. I hardly had any contact with the flight attendants (when I did, they were nice enough I suppose), there was no food on the flight unless you paid a good penny for it, the seats were pretty average, and there was nothing really to watch (not even a common screen for movies, and this was a trans-pacific flight). You had to order their entertainment iPads. So I pretty much slept. That said, both Alaska and Hawaiian have good prices. Alaska had better options for departure and arrival times."
Cons: "The bare bones aspect (see other side)."
Pros: "Book the flight with Kayak never let us pick the seat and I’m not be able to sit with my husband! That the worse next time I’ll just book directly to the Airline website."
Pros: "The flight was less than 1,5 hours, which is 30 minutes less than estimated. Staff was great!"
Cons: "All was great"
Pros: "Free Maitai on arrival, on time departure and landing, friendly crew, decent food. Big overhead bins also a plus."
Pros: "Great flight crew"
Cons: "Nothing to dislike"
Pros: "All the staff was friendly and did the best they could"
Cons: "Had the last seets in row 32 Very uncomfortable. Was not given anything to drink for over an hour. When the meal trays reached us in the last row of seats, no more hot meals available..... We were by the bathrooms in the back of the plane. Every time someone use the bathroom the doors kept slamming and there was really no peace to close your eyes or sleep if needed on the long trip Very disappointed. Jerry"
Cons: "They overcharged me for my beer by $9 and I didn't notice until I got home when I looked at my billing statement."
Cons: "the airline attendant poured wine all over my suit jacket. i am traveling on a quick business trip and only brought this one suit jacket, which has been doused w/wine and smells disgusting. this was after i saw him douse another passenger w/water. i wish it was water he spilled on me!"
Pros: "Ease and great service"
Cons: "No good available very No entertainment"
Pros: "I had a problem with my ticket, and before my flight the information desk helped me get it resolved very quickly with none of the hassles I have come to expect flying other airlines. Huge relief!"
Pros: "Always nice people. Boarding was slow due to tech failure but gate agents were resourceful and pleasant about it"
Pros: "1) Attendant crew was nice. 2) Appreciated being able to board from front and rear."
Cons: "1) Flight time delayed, so late arrival ~12am was made even later ~12:30am 2) Booked two tickets together months ago, yet we were not allowed to sit together. 3) Entertainment required the downloading of the gogo app which should have been done on the ground with wifi and/or cellular data. in the air, one window said you could (wait) and download, while another window effectively said, "better luck next time". Pre-flight email should have warned passengers to download beforehand. 4) Exiting plane only allowed from front; took forever from our next-to-last row."
Cons: "The flight was overbooked. We changed gates at the last minute and we weren't confirmed until after other passengers had boarded. Flight was delayed an hour because of this."
Pros: "What a pleasure to fly with Alaska Airlines. Have yet to feel like I was an imposition with traveling with AA. Thanks for letting me feel like a client rather than a bother. Virgin Air and AA will be a happy merge, I believe. Keep your work ethic and soar even higher!"
Cons: "Not a thing. 15E and 15F even!"
Pros: "It was great. I slept nearly the entire time. No one bothered me!"
Pros: "The pilot was very polite"
Cons: "Gate staff we're rude seemed bothered when asked for assistance or info"
Pros: "Wonderfully attentive staff with Alaskan that made my trip very enjoyable."
Pros: "Extra leg room was well worth the upgrade. Flight was better than on time, leaving 10 min. early (well organized) and arriving 45 min. early due to favorable weather."
Cons: "Snack was meh and not really filling, paid extra choices were not appealing either - bring your own food if you have any dietary issues."
Pros: "Great staff. Friendly and efficient. The best I've experienced in my recent travels. A+."
Pros: "The crew on both flights were very nice!"
Cons: "On first leg of trip my suitcase came off the plane with a very large dent! On return flight my 2nd suitcase came off the plane missing one wheel! I have a back injury and it's very difficult to drag a suitcase around without a wheel. So now I have two broken suitcases!!!!"
Pros: "It was a smooth flight with very accommodating flight attendants. It couldn't have been any better."
Cons: "part of leg space is used up by the airplane. Guess you can't really change that, but it was uncomfortable"
Pros: "Crews on board amazing. They are friendly, yet professional."
Cons: "Got no seat assigned at check in. She told us to get seat assigned at gate. Weird. We got boarding passes after other people already boarded. I thought I flew South West. Flight 30 mins delayed. Hot food sold out."
Pros: "The flight offered was a direct flight. They offer preboarding for families with children under 2."
Cons: "The seats on this flight are so close together your shoulders literally touch your neighbors shoulders while sitting normally in your seat. This is unacceptable. When will airlines finally get it? People deserve to sit in their own seat without being on top of their neighbor."
Pros: "POG was available from the beverage cart. On-time departure and arrival."
Cons: "We were assigned two middle seats in different rows for a five hour flight! Flight attendants were rude. The bathrooms were a mess. Complimentary food for a five hour flight is a bag with nine, dime-sized pretzels."
Pros: "Overall as expected. Decent flight, nothing that made me go "wow", but on time, clean, reasonable boarding."
Cons: "I found the reaction of one of the flight attendants to be unprofessional. When I asked if she could pour a bit of water into my water bottle, rather than say, "I'm sorry, I am not allowed" or "unfortunately, no" or really anything verbal, she made a "tsk, tsk" face and offered me a plastic cup. Besides being annoyingly wasteful as a policy (if indeed it is one - this has not been an issue on other airlines), her customer service skills left something to be desired. This strange interaction left me with a poor overall impression of the flight experience."
Pros: "Ticket agent kindly arranged for us to sit together - after we had been assigned seats apart from one another."
Cons: "Boarding was delayed, disorganized and chaotic. Flight crew seemed to be overwhelmed and scattered. Ran out of hot meal about halfway through aircraft. When I expressed my disappointment, the F.A. said that there were a lot of wrestlers on board and they got all the food. I commented that it was poor planning and the FA stated that he didn't think anything would please me. He was argumentative and rude, IMO. He could have handled it better, eg: "So sorry. Out of our control, etc." To say that the food went to the wrestlers, and attitude gave me and those around me, the impression that he really didn't give a damn. Customer service training would be a good idea."
Pros: "The flig t had a delayed departure so I was given a voucher for $12 to get something to eat. In this day and age I thought that was very thoughtful. Also a representative handed each passenger a chit with instructions for a discount on a future flight. Again a thought act instead of a flat response!"
Cons: "Lack of space between passengers."
Pros: "I was pleased that the crew was helping to get everyone on board and settled quickly. The plane was on time which everyone appreciates."
Pros: "To be able to upgrade, charging stations at my seat, generous beverages"
Cons: "No free baggage, unclear coomunication about check in and choosing seats, was not offered my free drink."
Pros: "I like the hospitality from the crew members and how smooth my travel experience was."
Cons: "No complaints"
Cons: "TSA was unprofessional, slow, and as usual pointless."
Pros: "The staff"
Cons: "Seats are like hard plastic cop car chairs. Stale pretzel and drinks that were so shaken up when I opened it it sprayed me and the lady next to me. Long boarding times and again....my back is gonna be messed up for a while from the seats"
Cons: "Wearing a mask was difficult."
Pros: "Friendly, patient and helpful employees."
Cons: "Nothing could have been better. We traveled economy and were treated like 1st class."
Pros: "I felt safe on this flight. Middle seats were empty, plane seemed clean, masks, etc. were in place. I flew Sun Country a few weeks prior to this and flight was overcrowded and COVID precautions were way insufficient."
Pros: "We left on time"
Cons: "The size of the plane is just so bad"
Cons: "movie selection could have been better."
Pros: "The flight itself was excellent. Friendly, helpful, kind — great attendants and crew."
Cons: "The flight was delayed 4 hours. We never found out why exactly. That was a little tough but staff was great"
Cons: "WiFi didn’t work at all."
Pros: "The gate crew were very responsive and told us accurate estimates about the delayed departure time. They even distributed snacks for us."
Cons: "The flight crew was subpar. We had been delayed by 2 hours and they did nothing to assuage anyone’s frustrations. Service was minimal and lacklustre. In flight WiFi didn’t work with any streaming service. Plane was noisy and old. Seat was about worn through. Truly the worst in flight experience I can remember having domestically."
Pros: "The flight attendant (age gentleman) with the quite sense of humor, and converse with a measure of ease. A role model for others, a nice aptitude than one can learn from."
Cons: "Just keep up the good work and always work towards self development. Treat others the way you would like to be treated, with respect."
Pros: "The flight was on time and they did give free snacks! Nice change!"
Cons: "The entire time there was a clogged bathroom smell coming in waves. The crew was forgetful of requests. Not a pleasant flight."
Cons: "Bring ear buds if you want to watch/listen to a movie. Delta changes for ear buds Everything else was fine"
Cons: "Plane got delayed several times. They changed the gate 7 times. And then they lost my luggage. Not a good experience with Delta."
Pros: "Got to Houston on time"
Cons: "WiFi that I paid for on Delta didn't work, flight was delayed at take off due to waiting for restroom supplies; lead flight attendant had a major accent and was difficult to understand. She also stated to keep my mother's walker outside the plane when entering the plane"
Pros: "Flight cancelled"
Cons: "Flight not cancelled"
Pros: "Boarded nearly on time - doesn't always happen"
Cons: "As usual, someone boarding the plane before I did had jammed my overhead compartment with their carry on luggage."
Pros: "Quick flight"
Cons: "I wish there was a way to access the delta movies in small planes that don’t have seat back entertainment"
Pros: "Excellent crew!"
Cons: "Need better snacks."
Pros: "The turkey sandwich was okay."
Cons: "I was seated next to an extremely large man. I possessed only half of my seat for the duration of the six hour flight. I asked a flight attendant to move me but she said the flight was full. There should be a protocol for passengers over 300 lbs."
Pros: "Early boarding for Seniors"
Cons: "Limited food"
Pros: "Delta was OK"
Cons: "Lack of attention by the fly stuard in Virgin Australia Virgin had a 45´delay"
Cons: "The Delta staff in the Augusta airport seemed to have a hard time with getting people boarded - the instructions for what zone was being boarded and who could take what baggage or who was going to need to gate check bags was... not good."
Pros: "The wait"
Cons: "The screen didn’t change in time"
Cons: "The plane was hot"
Pros: "Meal was provided at no additional charge. Pilots were informative on weather conditions. Good crew service."
Pros: "Attendant was very good at explaining ground staff members actions to a fellow passenger"
Cons: "Left 30 minutes late from SLC."
Pros: "Good food, excellent service"
Cons: "Seats did not have enough storage."
Pros: "Crew was friendly"
Cons: "Paid extra for Econ Comfort but still got a seat with no in flight entertainment and they provided no food/beverage services."
Cons: "The monitors kept on freezing"
Pros: "Was switched to United airlines by delta due to plane issues. Houston to Laf"
Cons: "On time and nice media"
Cons: "That we did not have a seat assigned"
Pros: "The staff was efficient and kind"
Cons: "The plane was late for weather reasons and they overbooked the flight they had to offer $400 for next flight wasn’t until the next morning.. no entertainment system on plane"
Pros: "Not a good experience. Crew was unhappy, disengaged, seemed too busy and buried."
Cons: "NEverything seemed hurried and frenzied. Airplane was dirty when we boarded."
Cons: "Due to the earthquakes, the film festival I was going to was cancelled. Ten days prior to the flight I called AeroMexico to cancel and they said there would be a cancellation penalty, which was fine. When I tried to redeem my credit, they said there was also an additional "No-show fee" even though I called to cancel 10 days prior, which left a total of $70 credit after all their penalties. I called and emailed to complain but they did nothing but pass me to someone else who was equally unhelpful. I will never fly AeroMexico for any reason in the future."
Pros: "For a short flight, they gave it drinks and snacks."
Pros: "Liked choice of Biscuit, almonds or pretzel"
Cons: "I used mobile checking and did not get seat assignment till Boarding started"
Pros: "Crew was courtesy"
Cons: "1hour delay from departing LAX runway - not good"
Pros: "Flight was delayed for over 6 hours. Not an ideal way to spend the day."
Pros: "Entertainment options weren't bad. Most of the crew was polite other than one flight attendant who seemed ambivalent and unhappy to be there."
Cons: "Three hour+ flight and just one tiny bag of pretzels? And no lemon or lime wedges on the beverage cart? Plus, I have to pay extra for one checked bag. I will only fly Delta if I have to in the future. Subpar airline."
Pros: "We flew first class for the first time. Now I don't think I'll fly any other way!"
Pros: "Return trip was 30 min ahead of schedule"
Cons: "We had a 2 hour delay getting to NYC"
Pros: "We barely got on the flight."
Cons: "The boarding "red shirt" saved us. We are a band on tour and thanks to her we made the gig"
Pros: "Crew aware of my children's nut allergy and chose not to serve"
Cons: "Coffee horrible"
Pros: "Everything was smooth. Short flight, but they offered us refills on drinks, which I've never experienced before. Polite staff, great flight. Thanks!"
Pros: "The gate agent helped half a dozen people (not including those described below) understand they were boarding with the wrong group."
Cons: "Fully one-quarter of the passengers boarded as disability or premium. This included a party of eight that boarded with one person in a wheelchair because "We're all together.""
Pros: "Our flight was cancelled and we had to buy $447 worth of Southwest tickets to get home. Our luggage is still missing, by the way."
Pros: "Delayed by 55 minutes in 10 or 20 minute increments as they waited for a crew."
On or before scheduled departure and arrival. Smooth ride. Fast checkin and boarding
Weather delays of hours but staff were professional.
Frontier's boarding process does not protect passengers from COVID or inconvenience. The plane should be boarded from the back to the front to prevent too much contact; this would also help the people seated in the aisle not to have to be continually rubbed up against and hit with bags and purses of the other hundred or so passengers that need to board their seats in the back of the plane. Board from the back to the front please. It just makes sense!
delayed 2hours they didnt keep customers updated
My qr code timed out at check in…. couldn’t get it back up…. was sent back to to get boarding pass printed out…. even though had confirmation number and proof of payment… after running through the airport all over the place trying to get everything get to gate at 2:04…. boarding stops 2:05….. scan my ticket an it reads ready to board….. door is locked and when someone finally comes out i told i can’t board
Still wouldn’t recommend this flight company to anyone.
Pros: "Not much."
Cons: "Checking was horrible. It didn't allow the printing of boarding passes so the lines were LONG and SLOW. Staffing not sufficient. After finally checking in and getting through security we realized we had to walk from terminal E to terminal A for the flight...not a short distance. And supposedly only 10 minutes until boarding was completed and doors closed. We raced, not stopping to grab a snack or drink thinking we could get something on the plane since the flight was 3.5 hours. Got to the gate and found this incredibly long line to board. The gate agent ignored those of us who paid for zone 1 boarding and just told everyone to board. We finally boarded and got comfortable, taking off about an hour late. After all that, the flight attendant announced that they had no food or drinks but if anyone wanted a bottle of water it was $2.99. Will never fly Frontier again."
Cons: "Very uncomfortable"
Pros: "Nice passengers"
Cons: "Take off time. Was 2 hours late"
Pros: "Nothing good"
Cons: "Frontier cancelled flight without notifying us. ( for no apparent reason. Not weather or mechanical) No more flights on the same day. Totally lost our money never flying with them again"
Pros: "It was my baby's first flight on a plane. I liked that the space was more than adequate and comfortable to sit and move around considering how excellent the ticket prices were. The flight attendents were very attentive and kept enquiring how we were doing with baby. Will definately be flying Frontier again.Thank you Frontier Family. Sincerely. Happy Baby, Mommy and Daddy."
Cons: "I took my 11 year old daughter for her first unaccompanied airplane trip to Florida today on Frontier Airlines. I paid for a window seat in the back row, which is where she wanted to sit and is also required to sit being unaccompanied. A few minutes after she boarded she texted me that a mom told her to move over so her kids could sit at the window seats (my daughters seat). My daughter of course just listened and moved over. I was livid. I told her to tell the flight attendant but she didn’t want to make a fuss over it. What was this flight attendant doing? She had to notice the seat assignment switch at some point. I do understand that she also has other responsibilities and can’t be a hawk over my daughter. Why wouldn’t she make them move to their own assigned seats when she did notice a seat change? I understand that another adult passengers can make a seat assignment switch but NOT a child. I am also fine with a flight attendant asking my daughter to move but not another passenger. It sounds like a bully just wanting the best for her kids at the expense of my daughter. I was a fury of no sleep (I work night shift)and pregnant (emotional) looking for help at the airport and there was no one to help me! I wasn’t allowed to leave the gate until the plane pushed back but the gate attendant had left before the airplane pushed back. I should have called my daughter and had her put the flight attendant on the phone but at the time the thought never crossed my mind. After the plane left I complained to the ticketing counter who told me they couldn’t do anything to help me and gave me a number for customer service. I was then on with customer service for at least 45 minutes. They weren’t rude but definitely didn’t have a response that was very caring. They asked me why my daughter didn’t speak up on the airplane. I said, “because she is 11 and listens to adults when they tell her to do something.” They said they would report my case/ complaint to the “back office” so this would “never” happen again and gave me back my money for my daughters checked bag of $45. I had to push them to give me back any sort compensation. At this point I didn’t want to make it about money... it didn’t seem right. This is about my daughter and her safety and the service I paid for her to have in my absence. So I took the $45 deal and got off the phone. I am still so angry. This was her first flight alone and she’s a little scared, a little sad, and then she has to give up the one thing that she was looking forward to on the flight. If something would have happened on the flight they wouldn’t even know what seat she was in! I don’t know if I will ever book flights with frontier again. The flight also left 40 minutes late without any given reason."
Cons: "Its a scam! They act like they are giving you a break by having you buy cheap flights but in reality it costs more than a bit more expensive flight. I had to pay $45.00 each bag no matter if it was checked or carry-on. In total round trip I paid $180.00 extra just for my husbands carry-on as well as mine. Must add that our flights together cost 286.00. We should of went with American Airlines. On top of that we couldn't select our own seat if so, we had to pay extra, so we had to sit separated from each other. It was ridiculous! Never Again with this company!!!!!"
Cons: "The only thing I didn't care for was that when my flight was delayed by three hours; when I landed the crew in the airport because an attendant refused to take minute to look at my ticket. If she had looked at my ticket she would have seen that I didn't miss my connecting flight because it was also delayed by three hours. I almost missed my connecting flight because this artentand kept refusing to help me and kept sending me to customer service who would have told me to get on my same connecting flight. The attendant was working at the desk near my connecting flight but refused to take a minute to try to help me even though she wasn't busy nor was she helping someone. I had to figure this out on my own while standing in line at customer service, which had about 100 people waiting who also missed their flight so I would have missed my flight if I had done what the frontier attendant from my connecting flight desk had instructed me to do. I had to run back to the gate minutes before boarding ended almost missing my connecting flight because of the attendant. Attendant worked at the denver , co airport. The crew on the plane and everyone else was great. Also didn't care for the charge for a carry on bag."
Pros: "The price of the ticket"
Cons: "I had 1 carry on luggage. When I left Orlando I was not charged for the carry on...It was a carry on within size standards. When I left Philadelphia back home..that's a different story. When I went to board the plane the guy that scanned my ticket said I needed to step aside as I did not pay for carry on. I explained I did not pay in MCO to Philly and why was I being charged now. Tyra Brunson, said she was the manager at the gate. I explained the situation and she said that she doesn't know how they do it in Orlando but that here I had to pay $60 for the carry on. I aske if it is a different company and if the policies are for all locations and she said yes but in philly they charge $60 at the gate for carry on. She did say if I went on line I could purchase at $35, That was better but still dont agree with haven been charged since it was a legit carry on which I should not have been charged for. Trya saw me try to go online but guess to late to purchase online. That was of no concern to Tyra. She did not do anything to calm the situation and Iat this point I was extremely aggravated as was not ready to spend an additional $60, I did not budget for that. While this is all taking place another 4-5 people were pulled over for the same thing. They were asking as well why on this leg of the trip we now had to pay for carry on luggage. I would like to be reimbursed as I think this Agent took advantage of me, us. Also, I think Trya needs to attend a CSR class as she does not know how to deal with the customers in a way that keeps the tension down. Example. I asked for her name an whee would only give me her first name. I was able to get the name when she accidentally flipped her id around (note, she flipped it around so I could not see name when we discussing the carry on situation). I would not recommmend Frontier Airlnes to anyone. This was my first time flying. With them and more than likely the last."
Cons: "Flight was canceled due to "maintenance issues". Agent was not empathetic at all. When asked when or if the flight was going to leave...she said don't know. I said so you're basically saying it could be midnight before you might have an answer...she said basically yes. and to top it off there was no agents behind the ticketing desk to assist with refunds. We were able to get our money back by having to call Frontier directly. Lourde was very helpful, but the Frontier agents at charlotte douglas were no help at all. Will never fly Frontier!"
Pros: "Aside from a change of gate the everything was wonderful."
Cons: "I had got my boarding pass yesterday, when I checked in they no ever told me the gate was changed. I realized at the last minute something was wrong and started to inquire and found out that the gate had changed."
Cons: "I am so upset that I was charged after she put our bag and it fit in spot for baggage. This is just wrong"
Pros: "I loved the price. My parents recently retired to Florida so traveling to see them is important. The plane and flight crew weren't bad."
Cons: "When I got to the airport not one Frontier employee was around. The line grew, and grew as the passengers arrived. Many with small children who can't wait that patiently. We were there as predicted and as the sign said "Gate opens two hours before flights". Two hours came and went. Jet blue (nearby) fully staffed laughed and said 'you get what you pay for'! The crew came inside (as if just coming to work) and started to allow bags to be checked. Clearly 25-35 minutes late. Our flight was also delayed a half hour and Frontier said that was why the crew didn't check in sooner. However having someone, anyone from the co represent them to let passengers know would be helpful. I over heard many with small (Crying) children this was their first time flying. If security was busy this would have been frantic."
Pros: "Equipment was relatively new so no issues there. Orderly boarding and clean cabin. Flight crew did a superb job! Cabin crew were polite and accommodating enough. Gate agents were efficient and friendly, Can't comment on the quality/quantity of food or beverage as I opted not to give them any more money, Make sure to download the Frontier app on your device BEFORE boarding or you will have NO entertainment available! The entertainment is complimentary but there's a charge for internet."
Cons: "I had discovered the carry-on bag charges AFTER purchasing the ticket online which is a bit underhanded. My 'bargain' ticket was now the same price as every other airline plus the 'privilege' of food and beverage purchase whereas all the vanguard carriers still offer free carry-on, snacks and soft drinks. BTW unless you're drunk or completely exhausted, don't plan on getting much sleep: the seats were made with some of the thinnest padding I've experienced and you might get 3-4 inches of recline, IF you can locate the lever! IMPORTANT!! If you don't order THE WORKS pkg ($55) when you INITIALLY pay for your ticket, which includes refund waiver along with check-in, carry-on and seat choice, you're stuck with THE PERKS ($45) which has all the above EXCEPT the refund waiver. The refund fee is $99! You can do everything a la carte, but will cost more beyond 1 bag. BTW, do it all online or you'll pay more at the airport. All in all, absolutely fine for the price if you have a personal sized item (i.e. up to a small backpack) but a standard size carry-on or check-in will definitely put a wrinkle in your flight budget!"
Cons: "I've traveled consistently between 4-6 times a year for the last 15 years and this was my first trip with Frontier. It was by far the worst travel experience of my life. One of the passengers was so drunk that she threw up all over the gate agent's podium, and this passenger was still allowed on the plane. When we boarded, we had to circumvent the vomit because it hadn't been cleaned up yet. There were multiple passengers on board who brought their own alcohol, were noticeably drunk and extremely loud. I understand that this is not your crew's fault, but there was a complete lack of understanding as to how to handle the situation. The pilot scorned passengers as a whole, and noted that if people didn't calm down, he would force a landing in North Carolina. The responsible passengers such as myself not only had to tolerate the debauchery, but also felt like we would be potentially be punished for other people's bad behavior. The flight crew seemed to have no idea how to handle this situation. I don't understand why is passenger are blatantly breaking federal regulations, the crew would not do anything about it. When I attempted to check in online, literally ever seat (including middle seats, back row) had an up-charge which is simply ridiculous. the seats were small and very uncomfortable. I will never fly Frontier again. I'd pay double for a flight with another company just to avoid them."
Pros: "Main reason I made the flight was the cost of the ticket. I'd fly more if these rates were readily available or I was notified of them."
Cons: "My only thought would be to make coffee available free along with the water. Not sure the cost analysis would be but coffee is relatively cheap when done by the pot unless the planes aren't equipped with coffee machines but k-cup style now. Just seems a lot today 2.99 for a small cup of coffee that usually isn't the best on planes."
Pros: "The flight attendants were fairly kind and considerate when going about their job."
Cons: "I fly a lot and have taken a fair share of disappointing flights but this one certain hits the top. The boarding process was chaotic; the woman at the counter was down right rude and did not once make eye contact. The flight crew was close to useless when people were taking too long to be seated or placing bags in the overhead. I cannot rate food or entertainment because frontier is too cheap to even hand out tiny bags of mixed nuts. You certainly pay for what you get. Then we all waited 45 minutes for our bags to be unloaded at baggage claim. That is an unacceptable amount of time! Only for me to realize my bag was lost and somewhere in Mississippi. I've been traveling as a frequent flyer member on united and American for five years and I was considering joining frontier'/ program but after this experience I need to reevaluate."
Pros: "My first experience with Frontier, it was okay."
Cons: "The level of understanding in regards of cheaper flights mean increase on other ends, but to pay $40 for a carry-on/$30 for checked-in baggage is a blind-sided downer. One gets what one pay for."
Cons: "My flight was delayed 2.5 hours so I missed my connection to philly. I had to pay for another airline and a hotel as a result."
Cons: "Flight From San Antonio to Philadephia, Late for 1 hours Flight from Philadelphia to San Antonio boarding on time, however we have to wait for 1 hour to take off"
Cons: "The flight was fine but it was delayed at the last minute which was annoying. There was no communication by gate staff about what was going on and that was frustrating and confusing. I liked receiving updates via email, but the human touch would have been nice too. The gate staff seemed very overwhelmed by the situation and I don't think she handled it well. I heard that meal vouchers were being distributed but I didn't learn this until we were getting ready to board the flight so I didn't receive a voucher and I didn't get dinner."
Pros: "I sat in the first row, so the leg room was pretty good."
Cons: "Kayak quoted ticket prices in search results that were not consistent and I didn't know off the top of my head that Frontier makes you pay for all luggage, even carry ons. The woman at the ticket counter did not notice my luggage and let me know that I needed to pay extra for it, so I paid twice as much at the gate ($60) after being pulled out of the boarding line. These results should be marked differently so it's not so difficult to figure out which tickets are actually less expensive. Only water on the flight (unless you want to buy a can of soda for $5), only one chance to get water, food is also only for purchase. No entertainment options. An oil slick of grease and grime over my window. Very, very unimpressed."
Pros: "Service was very nice and profecional."
Cons: "The seats are horrible: they don't recline not even a bit very bad for your back when sitting for 3 hs, the same seats have the bare minimum padding whomever designed them never sat on them. My son is studing at UPenn and I know we will go often but I can't take Frontier any more because of the seats. Paying more is not the solution because I sat on the more expensive ones and it's not worth the money, We will pay more but not realy because I added the fare, plus bags, plus seats and it costs the same on other airlines and we get more leg room, padded seats , a movie and the seats recline."
Pros: "They give you free water on the plane. That's it..."
Cons: "First off, our flight was delayed 5 hours. I understand because of weather. No big deal. But when it is supposed to leave at 4:15 and You tell everyone 5:15, and then at 5:15 tell everyone it'll be here at 6:15, then at 6:15 it went to 7:15 and then again 8:15. During this entire time, I kept asking for updates and the staff at Frontier seemed angry so many people kept asking....that's your job. Because of the long wait many people didn't eat dinner, JetBlu decided to get coffee and donuts for all of their passengers (they said it over the loud speaker), Frontier didn't give us anything. When the plane landed at 8:15, the slowness of the workers couldn't have been any worse. Loading the bags slow, cleaning the plane slow. Plane gets here at 8:15 and we don't take off until 9:30. You'd think we would get some type of snack or drink for this horrible wait time right? Water is free on frontier, but nothing else. And they stuck with that. NOTHING FREE! Not even a soda or bag of chips! My friend is 6 foot 4 and I'm not sure how they get away with the nonexistent leg room. His knees were smashed against the chair in front of him the entire time. Funny for me, sucked for him (or anyone tall). He asked to change seats to 1 of the 2 open seats we had seen with more leg room (near the side emergency exit). They said no unless he wants to pay $50 right there. In the middle of the flight. I have no words for it. Customer service was horrible, food was nonexistent, drinks were nonexistent, leg room was nonexistent. And that sums up how I'll never be using frontier ever again. Pay $50 more for a better plane service seriously."
Cons: "Frontier is a bait and switch operation. They offer discount fares and when you get to ticketing you discover that they charge $40 for checked bags and $45 for carry on bags!!! I can understand the checked baggage fee only if it was made known prior to purchase but charging more for carry on bags. Also, the staff at the ticketing counter are rude and obviously selected and trained to make sure that they get every penny of their ruthless money. I have flown my first and only flight with Frontier and will never do so again."
Pros: "Priority check in for veterans. But will not be using this airline after this trip."
Cons: "There is a charge for a carry-on luggage fee of $45 so I paid the $40 fee to check my baggage in. Arrived 3 hours before flight. The flight was delayed for 2 hours. Get to the destination with no transfers and my luggage is the only piece that doesn't make it! The baggage claim attendant was all nonchalant and informed me every bag in their history has ALWAYS showed up in a few days. I'm traveling for a weekend business convention....so I had to repurchase clothing and items and possibly another suitcase fot the return trip. I will not be using this airline in the future."
Pros: "I didn't like ANYTHING except the fact that I had already eaten, purchased water, and was finally getting home."
Cons: "$40 bag charge for mediocre service (I am being nice.) The a la carte way everything is handle there is a charge for EVERYTHING No wonder the ticket was so cheap, a drink of water cost, peanuts and snacks cost, carry on bag cost If you are not going to be above average or better yet better than Southwest who still gives a free bag a fre drink a free snack and a free carry on then stop charging for a person to simply breathe on your plane. First time flying with Frontier and it will most definitely be the last."
Pros: "Horrible customer service"
Cons: "How they spoke to me and they couldn't tell me where my bags were. Customer service was horrible!"
Cons: "The seats were like sitting in hard lawn chairs--for five long hours. The seats do not recline. Frontier nickels and dimes their passengers at every turn to make extra profit. A person has to actually ask for a glass of water on an across continent flight. There is no Wi-Fi. There is no movie. It was without doubt the most miserable flight of my life and there were numerous delays because of fueling and waiting for a gate. The steward who made the announcements throughout the flight spoke a lisping gobbly-gook that made him sound like a twelve year-old had commandeered the mic--in no way reassuring in terms of safety. I will never fly Frontier again--no matter how cheap it seems. I was shocked that an airline could be so much like Walmart in 1987."
Pros: "The color of their uniforms were very nice and professional. The animal themed planes were fun as well!"
Cons: "Poor customer service. We got to the airport 3 hours ahead of time and it took well over an hour for them to check in baggage (keep in mind we checked in our bags online and there were only 8 people in front of us) we made it to our gate 30min ahead of time. It was terrible. Tried to be kind to the staff but they were not having it. Very inconsiderate of others and doing their job in a timely fashion. They also lost my luggage. Since the airline is so cheep they don't keep staff on hand to handle issues after the flight lands. No desk to report to, no phone number to call; as if you never even flown with them. It was very alarming as I had important clothing for an interview, medicine, and other personal items that would not easily be replaced. Never flying frontier again."
Pros: "one of the waste airline and liers. never said bag have fees.if they see we have a carry on baggage they wait for the last minutes to charge of $60. On cheap flight fare they give the cheapest fare then they wait for baggage. my last trip to Philadelphia other airline offer was $312.00 ist baggage free.i got forntier price around $265. but for the round trip i paid $95 extra for the baggage.so almost $360. on board very unprofessional idiots are working.i told madom you never told about baggage price. Her answer everything in website.if you are not paying now you going to miss the flight. Before we need only 30 mints required for the domestic flight checkin. now just like international travel time required. 2 hour early.2 hour these idiots using for braggaining with customer. Now readers and customer your choice to travel with these idiots or not. Flight crew below average"
Pros: "What I thought I liked was the cheap flight tickets. They remained the cheapest for as long as I kept checking. The flight attendants were super nice as well. So that was a plus."
Cons: "I did not like that even after I purchased my flight ticket, I had to pay additional for my seat when I came to check in. I did not like that I had to pay for a checked in bag. So if you look at it after all is said and done, you'll find you probably paid more for frontier than another airline. I also did not like that on my flight home, they changed my seats without asking me and my friend, I had specifically purchased a window seat. They then gave us tickets that were in the same isle but we were separated by four people. When I expressed my concern, she attempted to make me believe that seats 17A and 17E were next to each other. When I insisted on seats next to each other, she gave us exit seats."
Pros: "Left on time. Arrived early. Crew was pleasant enough. Luggage arrived safely. Having a non-stop flight from east coast to central Texas was great."
Cons: "Price of ticket looked good online, but ridiculous add-ons put price above cost on other airlines. Seats were too close. Felt cramped. Price of snacks and beverages too high. Plane looked a little rough on outside, which doesn't matter, but makes one wonder about maintenance of engines and vital parts. Several years ago I felt ripped off by Frontier. They sent tickets to wrong place but charged me $100 for not having paper ticket. So far with my recent experience this time, I would continue to consider using Frontier."
Pros: "Our flight was quick with no delays."
Cons: "Charging you for just about everything. Apparently paying for my airline ticket did not guarantee I'd have a seat on the plane, so I had to pay an additional sum of money for a seat. Wait, did you think you were finally done paying the airline? Of course not! Want to take anything with you on your trip? Pay for a checked bag. Thought you were clever and decided to just bring a carry on to avoid the charges? Think again! Costs more than checking a bag... All the while messages pop up pushing you to pay for even more random and unnecessary amenities."
Pros: "The crew was wonderful and very helpful and cheerful. Flight was super fast and we arrived early."
Cons: "Seats and floor were covered in crumbs and fairly dirty. In my row it was Cheerios but in other rows there were crumbs and trash too."
Pros: "The stewardesses were very nice and did everything they could to calm the passengers down. They were professional and courteous when certain irate passengers (not me or us) screamed at them."
Cons: "There was NO COMMUNICATION with the passengers to explain what was going on with they delayed boarding. We woke up at 230am to make the 605am flight which was not easy. My wife is stage 4 cancer with a 7% survival who, after 9 months of surgeries, chemotherapy treatments-9 and countless procedures, struggled to get up to make this early flight. Despite calling the airline, going online there was no indication whatsoever, even after we had checked our bags, that a nearly 7 hour delay was already in store. When we asked the Frontier personnel they had no idea what was going on and did their best to control the situation. Even when they had changed the gate it was a communication nightmare. Folks, we don't live in a perfect world, far from it, but communication would have gone a LONG, LONG way for us and the many other passengers. I did appreciate the $100 credit voucher but I pray that the flight back home will be a lot less dramatic and stressful, especially for my courageous but ailing wife."
Pros: "That they got me to my destination safely."
Cons: "This airline is a joke. Shame on me for booking late and choosing the cheapest ticket. BUT knowing what I now know, I would have selected the Delta flight for $80 more. Here's why: No TSA Pre-Check. This aspects alone is a deal breaker. Pay for carry-on bag AND IT COSTS $40. Pay for beverages, snacks. Seats don't recline - "pre-reclined for your maximum comfort." Whatever Tray table is metal and tiny. You couldn't even fit an iPad mini on it, let alone a lap top. So, I put my MacBook on my lap to work, but it's uncomfortable, MacBook slides off. You're hitting the person next to you with your elbows. AND I have to take off my jacket, to protect my MacBook against hitting the metal tray table, so I got cold. No internet. It's 2016. No internet. It's 2016. Never again."
Pros: "A flight attendant didn't let me stand near the restroom, but she called me back when the restroom is free, and was fair to me even though other people tried to get in line in front of me."
Cons: "The carpet in the airplane needed to be vacuumed. We had to sit on the runway for a long time, and then we finally took off and the take off was pretty rocky. It would have been nice if we could've gotten more communication About why we were delayed for so long. It also would've been nice if the pilot would have explained why we had so much turbulence. It would have been nice to see the pilot too. Plus this fasten your seatbelt sign was on for a very long time because a taxiing for a long time and then waiting to get to cruising altitude, so it would have been nice to have a estimated time of when that sign would have been off. I was dying to use the restroom for over an hour."
Pros: "The flight attending Andrew was very rude. Rude to me and many others. I felt it was the worst experience ive had on a flight, i fly often."
Pros: "The crew was very friendly"
Cons: "This was my first flight with Frontier. I didn't know that the seats do not recline, there is no wifi, and you have to pay extra for literally everything. I didn't realize that you had to pay extra for all bags (I've never heard of anyone charging extra for a carry on) when I purchased my ticket. I chose Frontier due to the affordability of the fare, however once the extra fees are taken into consideration, this was no longer the lowest price available, and there was certainly no other reason to make this airline stand out as preferable over other airlines."
Pros: "The crew had an excellent sense of humor that helped with the not-so-great situation of being delayed for 4 hours."
Cons: "Since when did one have to PAY for a very light refreshment on a plane?! We had been in the airport with no food/beverage available because of the time and then not to be compensated even a little bit with a snack of any sort was just more than I could stand. My kids were hungry and thirsty and I was not going to use a credit card for cheese curls and a bottle of water. The interest alone would have been about the same as my mortgage payment! The seats on the plane do not lean back and there is hardly any cushion on them. It was uncomfortable and will make me rethink using Frontier airlines again."
I think it is lacking some normal customer service like free water and wifi.
Pros: "The crew"
Cons: "The seats and leg room, not even water is included or sold at a reasonable price. No entertainment"
Cons: "VERY unclear baggage rules - meaning I paid $100 extra for a checked bag after booking, and then also unnecessarily paid an extra $55 for a backpack at the airport because there was not notification on-screen that it was allowed as a personal bag. I then could not get a refund at the baggage counter because they don't do transactions. I am now trying to work out how to get a refund from Australia. I would have been better off taking any other airline and it would have been cheaper than these extra fees. I am so disappointed."
Pros: "Nothing, never got on the plane."
Cons: "I was stuck in traffic before the flight and arrived approximately 50min before the flight. By the time I finished fighting with the self check-in machine and talked to a person, it was about 45min before the flight and I was told I was too late and the plane had already boarded and was full. I asked if I could get on the next flight, but I was told the next flight from LAX to Oakland wasn't until 7AM the next morning. I wound up having to buy a last-minute, one-way ticket on American Airlines just to get where I was going. The man at the counter was very rude and dismissive about the whole thing."
Pros: "No delays. Boarding was efficient but not much else. Very basic."
Cons: "I wanted to bring a bag as hand luggage and had to pay $46 each way. I've flown loads and this is the first airline who has charged for carry on."
Pros: "I liked nothing about Spirit Airlines"
Cons: "our luggage never came on our flight. We were traveling for a family relatives wedding. We were only there for 2 days. We were on 3 days that our luggage would arrive and it never did. We missed one family event due to this and completely missed the ceremony because of the direct result of Spirits lack of responsibility, lack of communication and lack customer service commitment."
Cons: "i booked the flight with flight network com - and unfortunately due to being ill, missed my departing flight. I call both flight network and spirit to relate I wanted to re-schedule, but wanted to keep my departure date. Both companies stated that because I missed my flight, I was not even able to use my return flight, which I had paid for. It is terrible that I could not even use my return flight. Regardless of missing my departure flight, I should not be punished in not being able to use my return flight! Ridiculous policy!"
Cons: "I have been flying since I was 5 years old. THIS WAS THE WORST flight (experience) thus far! Flight and boarding on time, BUT THE MOST ANNOYINGLY UNPROFESSIONAL FLIGHT CREW took over once on the aircraft. This made the uncomfortable crampped overpriced for what you're not getting flight a nightmare. There was horrible turbulence as well, which the airline is not responsible for; However our captin did'nt address the passengers at all. And the completely UNPROFESSIONAL rude chatty and hard to understand screeching non english speaking voices from two women kept coming over the speakers disrupting what little peace one would try to focus on while being jolted around like on a rollercoaster. You some people were ACTUALLY motuon sick, scared, and nervous BUT they didn't stop talking long enough to notice. I only noticed the men working with passengers to maintain some calm by displaying professionalism."
Pros: "The price was right!"
Cons: "I didn't like the web site as far as the check-in. The selection of seats was confusing!"
Cons: "After flying a dozen times with a suit bag and a backpack that fits under my seat, I've never had a problem The lady checking tickets gave me an ultimatum, either you fit your suit bag in your backpack, or you have to pay $59 for a carry-on bag. No ticket checker has ever said this to me in the past. She was rude, direct and didn't leave me with any other choice. She ignored me after she gave me the ultimatum, while I'm asking if this was a new policy. She gave me the cold shoulder. I was very frustrated, luckily the suit bag fit in my backpack. Then when I got on the plane there was so much space in the overhead bins, so I took out my suit bag and placed it in an overhead bin while the crew was watching. The crew didn't say anything. Your teams need to be more persistent with policy."
Cons: "I've read bad reviews about Spirit airlines, but I was on a budget and decided to take my chances. It was a very small plane, which meant tight quarters during a 4.5 hour flight. I have a disability and deal with chronic pain and usually need to carefully plan out long flights so I arrive with minimal pain, but the seats were very small and moving about the back cabin was impossible. When I asked for a wheelchair I wasn't granted my request right away because I was told I didn't register online. I've always requested a wheelchair when I check in with major airlines when I arrive and have never been given a problem. Also, I didn't realize checking baggage would cost so much! No wifi available a very turbulent flight and they even charge for water. It wasn't the most horrible experience, but if we pay for a cheap ticket, expect substandard service. This will definitely will be my last time with Spirit Airlines."
Cons: "I was so uncertain of how this flight would go based on all the changes - I didn't feel like it was going to be a safe experience. I didn't even take the flight, I booked with another airline. Also, when I signed in to the Spirit website, and put in my info - somehow a DIFFERENT FIRST AND LAST NAME got associated with my contact info. Terrible software and potentially a really disruptive situation - when flying, identity information is critical. Awful."
Pros: "1) Friendliness and openness of the crew 2) good legroom (we paid extra for it)"
Cons: "1) web site charged our credit card to check a bag, but at ticket counter the agent insisted there was no record of this. We had to pay again to check our one bag! Now, we have to pursue a refund. 2) boarding pass was unreadable by the TSA scanner. 3) ticket agent didn't know the seating on the plane; insisted that we had reserved a window seat, which proved false. 4) seats very uncomfortable; no lumbar support. 5) surprisingly costly baggage fees, which erased the initial ticket price advantage. 6) $9 club name is misleading -- sounds like it costs $9.."
Pros: "Some of the Spirit crew did try to assist me and the other passengers."
Cons: "I was unable to check in online and when I tried to use a Kisok I was told to talk to an agent. i waited in a very long line, was told I might not make it and that they wouldn't hold the plane for me (or the five other people who had the same problem as me) but if I made it through security in time we could. When we all made it to the gate they closed the doors and wouldn't let us board even though we were there before takeoff. (One girl was even there before they closed the doors and they wouldn't let her through. Spirit changed our flights to the next available plane (11hours away) for no charge but I bought a new plane ticket with another airline."
Pros: "Captain made up time"
Cons: "It was ok"
Pros: "Departure was on time, Flight was pretty smooth. Arrived & landed a few minutes early, but had to wait/taxi for from 11:12p -"
Cons: "Kois was not working. So machine printed out a ticket that said see agent. We proceeded to a sign that said Agent Assistance & stood in line. Waited in line for about 15 minutes, then an agent announced we were in the wrong long & to stand in a different line. We and other Spirit customers experienced the same treatment, very rude & no positive spirit from Ticket agents. We were in line for an additional 30 minutes before we were called to receive service, get our boarding passes. We were not Preassigned seats & had to proceed to the gate counter to get our seat assignment, but there were no Spirit Agent present. There were about a dozen customers waiting in line but was not serviced until towards the end of boarding. As a executive manager of a non-profit organization I had to be observant, & not once did the 2 female agents smile or seem to be happy to assist their customers with enthusiasm. When we entered the plane, the first male flight attendant did not even acknowledge us & several other passengers as he was on his phone texting. The value of Spirit was definitely NOT experienced today."
Pros: "Other than my issue, Spirit airlines was a pleasant to fly with. Comfortable, good crew."
Cons: "I didn't like that I had to pay for a carry on - since I had a roundtrip flight, not only did I have to pay a $60 fee for a carry on, but I had to do it twice. That cost me twice than the flight ticket itself. Normally flights allow for one personal item, which I had in the form of a backpack, but I also had a carry on, which carried the rest of my clothing since I've been traveling around the States. It would have been nice if the airline included the potential cost of a carry on when I purchased the ticket rather than surprise me with two $60 fees for my one carry on bag."
Cons: "We boarded the plane, then de-boarded, then delayed 4x, and finally the flight was canceled. The crew did not have space on any other flights so I was unable to make the wedding on time. The airline has not refunded the ticket by instead offering a $50 voucher for next time. That doesn't even cover the cost of the flight!"
Cons: "The fact my flight was delayed, they wouldn't let me check in after their computers froze at the airport and caused me to miss the one hour before cut off time limit to check in. They made me take a different flight the next day and charged me a $25 fee to do it all because they wouldn't check me in and therefore had to miss my flight. The fee for having a carry on bag is redic since they have the room like any other plane for it in the overhead compartment. My new flight the next day was delayed also (over 3 hours) so I took another flight so I didn't miss my event. Spirit then cancelled my return flight days later because I skipped the outbound flight, they auto cancel all of your future flights. So I then show up in the morning to the airport not knowing they cancelled my flight, they don't tell you in any way, stranded and told I have to buy another ticket back for almost triple the price. The story goes on and on, absolute nightmare. I wish I would have known or gotten a refund to ease the blow."
Cons: "I would strongly consider adding warnings regarding spirit's iperation; I experienced 5 plus hours of delays on oak to lax flights; they aren't communicative, have horrible customer service and absolutely refuse to acknowledge they failed to meet even a minimum standard of care. One thing to have delays due to weather impacting all carriers; in this instance on both days all spirit flights were late, no other carriers impacted. I rarely respond to this sort of prompt but I fully expext at least a refund of my fare."
Pros: "Refunded my ticket with no issues"
Cons: "First, they cancelled my 8am flight at 10pm the night before with no notification. I happened to see it and call to rebook on the next flight, but if I hadn't been checking the flight status I'm not sure what would have happened when I got to the airport. Then, the 10am rebooked flight was delayed for over 2 hours - with basically no communication from the gate agents and no updates to the expected departure time. Ended up getting a refund and rebooking on Southwest - which was a perfectly smooth experience, huge contrast to the clusterf*** of flying Spirit."
Cons: "When buy through kayak link it takes you to the spirit page, where there's no spot to put in get TSA Precheck. When do all through phone, the boarding pass on the screen doesn't actually scan - only airline in the world where you still need a paper copy. After 50 mins in security line, the phone bar code didn't scan (can't use phone for spirit). Had to leave to get a paper boarding pass. Missed flight. I fly at least once a week every week. Have never missed a flight in my life (probably bc I had never flown with spirit before). Missed this flight! No refund, no airline credit (even if I got the airline credit I would let it expire to avoid flying with them again). Literally worst user experience I've ever had with an airline."
Pros: "Nicole at Spirit corp who reversed the charge."
Cons: "Kayak didn't mention the luggage charge at all. Then Spirit didn't send me the required email though I called twice so by the time I got it the charge was fifty BOTH WAYS. I got that reveresed by corporate but the ticket counter people were AWFUL and uncaring and not just to me. Everyone in line was saying they would never use Spirit again. One woman was charged eight dollars to get a seat next to her toddler! Awful gouging airline. It costs one hundred dollars if you don't know and bring a suitcase to the plane without paying days before!"
Cons: "Plane was downgraded last minute and because there were less seats about 40 of us had to be re-booked on a flight out the next day. They comped hotel + food + cab expense and gave a voucher for a free ticket that had to be used within 1 yr, booked within 60 days. But it was overall shitty experience. When I went to use food voucher the next morning in the airport Coffee Bean they told me they didn't take them. And the hotel wasn't too close to the airport so more time spent in cab plus the hotel was sub par."
Cons: "My Luggage was 10 pounds over weight and I was forced to pay an extra $55 on top of the 50$ I payed for my bag. The attendant placed a Red Tag on my luggage stating that the bag was "Heavy" when getting my bag from the baggage claim I noticed that my handle on the side of my luggage was completely broken, as of a worker tried to grab my bag only from that handle! Which would be wrong still on the Red Tag placed on my bag States you should pick the bag up while bending your knees! This is not a cheap bag!"
Cons: "No complimentary drinks, snacks, or entertainment. Even on a 4+ hour flight, the most they could offer me was a cup of ice. No water, juice, soda, pretzels, peanuts, etc. If you wanted ANYTHING, you had to pay for it. Also, they charge $55 to bring a carry on and $50 to check bags. On both departure and return, I tried to do self check in at the kiosk, but error messages came up both times (despite accepting and charging my credit card) telling me to wait in line to see a cashier. So trying to take initiative and doing self check in was a waste of time and I still had to wait in line afterwards. Very dissatisfied with my experiences on Spirit Airlines. Flight was also late to take off, but there was no announcement revealing to updated expected time of arrival."
Pros: "We showed up to the airport for a flight from Oakland to LA and the agent notified us that our flight was cancelled. This was on December 23rd, and they told us they could put us on another flight on December 25th! We were returning on the 26th so that was entirely unhelpful. They said the reason for the cancellation was weather in LA. But none of the other airlines were having any issues with their flights. We were flying at 9am and there was rain in LA at about 7pm. They offered to refund us, which we accepted. I was expecting to have to harangue them to actually get our money back, but the refund came through unprompted about a week later. We did not get reimbursed for our cabs to/from the airport, or for the cost of driving to LA."
Cons: "We spoke to multiple attendants, during check in and during boarding, many of which advised us incorrectly. During check in, we asked a Spirit employee if our bag was considered a Personal Item since Spirit charges for carry ons. They advised that we would be fine, and that since it was our only item it would count as a Personal Item. Perfect. Then we finally board the plane and it turns out our only piece of luggage cannot be considered a personal item and demanded we pay $65.00 for the carry on. The fee itself is not the issue, the misinformation is my main complaint. Had the original employee told us the correct information, we could have checked the bag for $55 during check in, instead of $65! during the boarding process. Not to mention it was unnerving holding up the line to board as I fished out my wallet. Anyways, better communication is definitely needed at Spirit Airlines."
Cons: "I got this ticket thinking that it was the final price. I got to the airport, the counter folks were very un-organized and un-attentive, took a while to get to the counter. Then was told i have to pay $50 for checking in my bag, otherwise will be $100 at the gate!! Not wanting to miss the flight i did not argue and paid and went to the gate. I had no idea that the charge was this high. At the gate and in the plane there were many passengers with the same bag as I had!!!! The counter people did not tell me i can take it the plane, they forced me to check the luggage in :-( First and Last time on Spirit airline for me!"
Pros: "The crew was always attentive and responsive."
Cons: "It was very difficult to check in on line. it took me over one hour. Wanted to get my sits and when I took the option there was no sits to select even when paying for it. I checked my carry on and I kept having the offer to be part of the club to pay less for my carry on. I did not want to use the option but I keep being sent to that side. The same experience I had when tried to check in in my flight from Oakland to Chicago on Friday. since the web site did not let me check in I had to check in at the airport. There was an accident in the freeway and I ended up losing the flight from Oakland to Chicago because the website did not let me check in the night before. We arrived 45 minutes before the flight and they have the policy to check in 45 instead of 30 minutes before the fight like other airlines. We did not even get options or credit. We just had to buy another flight. It was a nightmare."
Cons: "When I see one bag per person, I assume it's like everywhere else and you have a personal item and one bag. So I had to pay $55 for my tiny suitcase to come on. Had I known, I would have packed differently. It got me so upset that I started to cry. Yes, I probably did not read carefully. But am I the only one to whom this has happened? I should have flown tried and true Southwest which does not nickle and dime you. Will know better next time. In all the trip cost me a lot more than I would have had I gone Southwest with a slightly higher fare."
Pros: "That there was a Virgin Loft flight club in the terminal, only used it because of the Spirit delay"
Cons: "Front counter is rude. I don't know if they just had a front counter person having a bad day but I've never experienced that with any airline. Then there was a flight delay of a minimum 2 hours due to a bad windshield? Great keep us safe, but good luck with finding someone at the gate or a service counter to give you an explanation of why it's delayed. Instead just wander aimlessly around the terminal looking for a Spirit employee. I then went to the Spirit website and it shows the flight as "on time", really?? At least give me an app or website that's accurate so I don't have to sit in front of the gate for 2 hours. When booking through Kayak there is no mention of pre-purchasing checked baggage so I was stuck with a $50 fee at the ticket counter! This is definitely not the "low price" airline unless you truly "travel naked". Save yourself some grief and ignore Spirit as a flight option."
Pros: "I was quite surprised at check-in to find that checking a bag cost $50 and a carry-on was an additional $55. I travel frequently and usually the first checked bag is free or $25, and a carry-on is free. I booked on Kayak and didn't see any notification that your additional fees were so much higher than the industry standard. It appears that your business model is to attract clients with low prices, then hit them with hefty additional charges at th airport, when it would be difficult for them to change plans. It worked this time, but I will never fly Spirit Airlines again. I suggest that you reconsider the way you treat your clients."
Cons: "I understand that Spirit intentionally gives minimal additives and services but I feel they can be a lot more transparent about what they do and do not provide. I felt very uncomfortable on my trip back for the following reasons. 1. Tray table was half the size as a normal tray table. I was trying to do work on it with my small computer and it kept falling off and into my seat mates lap. 2. There was a flight attendant named Duron who made a few comments that made me feel very uncomfortable. I felt he was inappropriate. When collecting trash he walked by my aisle and commented to the person next to me (he was reading the New York Times), "Anything about Trump, or Kill-her-y, Killary, Hillary in there?" And laughed. I was shocked that someone, especially a professional at work would say something so volatile and frankly, violent. On his second round he again came by and asked if "Trump was in the paper and worth reading. Killary in there? You can guess who I am voting for." While people in the back row laughed and the man next to me nervously laughed. I felt very uncomfortable and felt he was inappropriate. I plan never to fly Spirit again after this experience. I hope that you can address this issue with your quality assurance team and to Duron. It can't continue. Thank you,"
Cons: "Up charge on everything. Rude customer service. Can't check in at the counter at least at LAX. Missed my flight and had to wait 7 hrs because only 3 of the 12 kiosks were operating at the agents wouldn't let me check in at the counter. By the time I got my ticket printed I had 43 minutes till my flight left. Waited in line just to have an agent tell me I was 2 mins too late. Last check in is 45 mins prior to flight and I had 43 mins left. Complete BS. I will not fly Spirit again. If you think I'm exaggerating read other reviews. Good luck!"
Cons: "The staff was rude from check-in to on the plane. The charge for my suitcase and weight of bag was ridiculous and never have I ever paid that much for a suitcase. My bag came back broken and open and I am missing few things from that pocket. I am very disatisfied with your team and my customer service and extra fees. I will never fly your airline again and could have definitely flown cheaper with a different airline. I believe you should put in bigger and bold type that people can not include purse as carry on and backpack because I had to put my purse in my bag to check it which meant my bag weighed more costing more. My flight was more than an international flight which is absurd. Your website should disclose that information more clear."
Pros: "I am Physian, I arrived at Oakland airport at 1pm for my flight at 1:47pm, I could not print my boarding pass because of a stupid policy that states 45 minutes is the cut off. After a humble plea to the staff who were really sooooo rude especially the supervisor Maria, they told me there is nothing they could do. I was so disappointed cos I was meant to be on call. I had to but a last minute one way ticket with south west that was boarding in 25 minutes. ...experience was like night and day, better and more courteous staff. Anyway,I will never fly Spirit again. It's not worth it."
Pros: "Gate person was very helpful got us on the flight early and we had great seats I am 6'4" my son who was in LV for basketball is 6'11" and she was great."
Cons: "At check in for our baggage it was a very long wait Michael who helped us put us on standby for an earlier flight gave us new boarding passes did not see that I had paid for a carry on bag so my boarding pass did not have a carry on. I also had a very hard time checking in for our flight and printing the boarding pass as the web page was down for almost 24 hours I wasted many hours trying to print the boarding pass and was very surprised about the charges for seats baggage and printing the boarding pass."
Pros: "Not much"
Cons: "I went into flying with Spirit expecting a budget airline, but they're terrible. Plus I didn't realize checking a bag was a hidden fee that basically bumped up the price to any of their competitors. TOTAL RIP-OFF will never fly Spirit again."
Cons: "After realizing how much extra I was going to pay for "buying" my seat, boarding pass, and my luggage, my checked bag weighed 2 pounds over. Well, there's another $25. I was pulled for a second security check which I guess I can't blame Spirit for but only after getting to my destination tonight did I realize that something fell out of the bin when the officer took my things to scan it again. Good bye cute make up bag. The flight was delayed and the gate changed several times before we actually boarded. Seats were very crowded and you had no room to move. Thank goodness it was only an hour flight."
Pros: "Going to Oakland and back to Chicago both flights delayed by two hours and one hour"
Cons: "This trip was lousy. The ticket taker called everyone up to board 45 minutes early and the plane wasn't ready to board. The on board process was lacking in courtesy. The seats are WAY too narrow. I had an aisle seat and the stewardess knocked me in the head every time she passed which was over 30 times. The pilot announcements left me concerned for my safety. The flight attendants were required to yell annoying advertisements for 15 minutes even though the flight is only 75 minutes. And some weird teen sitting behind me kept putting his head between his knees and head butting the back of my chair. Flight crew couldn't care less. The best part of the flight was getting OFF!"
Pros: "A good male flight attendant whose name started with M."
Cons: "I arrived at the airport more than an hour and a half before the flight. The wait for check in was incredibly long. It appeared that there were 5 employees at the counter but only 3 were checking people in. The TSA line was also very long and when it appeared that I was going to miss the flight, I expressed my concern to a Spirit agent who referred me to TSA who referred me back to Spirit. We were told we'd be re-ticketed at the gate. Finally, a large group of passengers who were in the same situation just moved to the head of the TSA line explaining our situation and enduring hostility from some of the other passengers. The gate was far away and I'm not able to run. The plane was held for us but the experience was MISERABLE. Spirit needs to have adequate staff to check people in and needs to press TSA to do the same. I've never had this experience on any other airline and I travel a lot and have for decades"
Cons: "Spirit attendants at check-in misdirected me multiple times due to a glitched boarding pass that they would not explain to me. Then, when I got to security, they couldn't scan my pass because the toner level of the printer had been low and the code came out fuzzy. Then, at the gate, there were no attendants around, so I went looking for one. When I returned to the gate, the gate had closed, which resulted in my missing my flight. I missed a full day of my trip thanks to your poor service, and after calling customer service multiple times with absolutely no result, I will be taking my story to social media and never flying Spirit again."
Cons: "Both flights were substantially delayed causing havoc in the schedules of those picking me up. They have this carryon policy that anything bigger than basically a handbag, you are charged $55 each way!!! This added $110 to my flight!!!! I ending up paying more than my other more sane and professional options. I should of flown Southwest. Then on the loudspeaker in the plane, they talk about what a great airline they are and that you should apply for their credit card. I have to say not one person filled out the application even though you got frequent flyer miles."
Cons: "Because their ticket counter was backed up and the machines were not working I got my ticket late, because I got my ticket late me and 10 other passengers missed boarding. We arrived when the plane was still there and connected to the walkway. They refused to let all of us board even though my sister was told that they would hold the plane for 5 or more. I had to fly to San Diego and then pay for a new flight on southwest. SOUTHWEST IS THE REAL MVP. Take my advice, never fly spirit. Also, 50 bucks per luggage per way, so one bag totaled 100 to fly it."
Cons: "I dont see that I would ever use Spirit again. You book a ta low fare and incur many costs that build up and nearly double your fair. may as well book on another airline and get what you wanted in the first place for the same price. The staff were unprofessional, disrespectful, tired and unkempt. And the flight was delayed, and we were never given a reason. I needed to change my return flight. I was instructed that i would save money by doing it on line. I would have saved NO money, and was able to easily book a new fare for less money with another airline. #NO-Spirit Airlines"
Pros: "unbundled pricing for baggage -- that's how it always should have been. thanks for taking the lead :) you guys are bearing the confusion of customers who expect bags to be free, but someone has to be first so thank you!"
Cons: "checking in on your website doesn't work! it looks like it should be possible without creating an account, but i'm forced to create an account anyway, which i really don't want to do unless i can sign in with google and never give my email or create a password. so, i just had to wait in line to print my boarding pass. and if you could have a mobile website and support mobile boarding passes, that would be nice someday :)"
Cons: "Didn't use food or entertainment and you have no "n/a" option."
