Never flying or booking a flight with American Airlines at all. Kayak couldn't even help with accommodations. Southwest is the only company that will actually hold those credits for you. Cons: "When I booked my flight, I used Kayac like I always have in the past. To begin with, I selected several flights that were listed, only to have it tell me that this flight is no longer offered, which I assume is engineered to get me to select a more expensive flight. Once I finally found a flight that was still available, I selected it and began the process of providing information and selecting seat assignments. On 2 of the 4 legs of the round trip, there were no more seats available except for upgrade seats, which resulted in an extra $100.00+ in charges. Then when I finished the transaction, I noticed an extra $200.00 charge added. End result was that I ended up paying over double what I would normally pay for this same round trip that I have made many many times. I feel, no I know, that some customer relations person will look at this comment and reply with a pre-generated response apologizing and hoping I have a better experience in the future and thank me for using Kayac. Big companies like yours look at one customer as no big deal. I'm a Physician and have the ability to reach out to multitudes. I'm going to make it my mission in life to reach out to as many people as I can through word of mouth, signs in my office, Internet and social media to let them know about the deplorable practices of your company."

Plus we were stranded on the runway which prevented us from leaving the plane for another hour. It was so hot and stuffy in there. This made for an even longer day because I had a 3 hour drive after getting to Chicago to my home"

Cons: "The flight sat on the runway for an extra hour and a half before we took off, causing me to miss my connection flight in Charlotte. Thankfully there was another flight two hours later, however I didn't arrive in Providence until midnight. The real problem was that the connection was delayed to leave at 8pm. We arrived in Charlotte at 740ish. Ran to other side of terminal to reach connection. They already had the doors closed and refused to let us on. There were at least ten passengers who were delayed as well and couldn't make it on the flight. The customer service assistant at the gate was horrible. She didn't pay any attention to us, as we were all out of breath (clearly trying to make the flight). Another gentleman stepped in and put us directly on the later flight. If American knew that there were so many flights delayed, they should have held the other plane a bit longer, as well as helped us out immediately. Not impressed."

Cons: "The gate agents did nothing to combat the gate lice that lined up in the "boarding" lane long before their boarding group was called. I almost missed my boarding group (which would have resulted in my carry-on being gate-checked all the way home) because the line was 40-deep. Only after asking the first person in line did I realize that the people lined up for "Boarding Group 3" were actually all Boarding Group 4. My flight didn't have working AC, and my seat didn't recline. I was burning up the whole time, and forced to sit at an unnaturally upright angle for the entirety of the 3.5 hour flight. I've never had a good experience with United. I will not be flying with them again."

Then he charged $200 for my board bag (talking a surfboard to Costa Rica) and finally we arrived with 4 others just as our flight was scheduled to pull off and they couldn't be bothered to hold the plane for us as we sprinted across the airport."

Over 2 hours on hold only for United to tell me to call back inside 24 hours of my requested departure (which was about 12 hours outside of the time I called). Bad customer service all around, both Kayak and United."

The air hostess was alone serving drinks, and the guy next to me pushed his call button , another air hostess came and he said " WHY AREN"T YOU HELPING HER? WE ARE ALL SO THIRSTY AND SHE IS GOING SO SLOW. YOU CAN ATLEAST HELP HER". Then the hostess went to help the one serving drinks alone. We finally got our water. It was upsetting for everyone."

Pros: "Everyone we dealt with was unbelievably kind and helpful. They had a wheelchair at the gate and helped push my disabled brother which was such a help for my elderly parents to make their connections. When I got my parents their tickets I was very apprehensive that it might be difficult making the connections but thanks to United's wonderful service their whole experience was fantastic. In the future I will always try to book United."

Many hours later everyone received a packet of pretzels, etc. About an hour before arrival everyone received a sandwich in a plastic wrap. It was close to inedible. Beverage service was very good. However, the amount of food served was unacceptable. This seemed like a budget flight. Very different from the flight to Europe on a Lufthansa plane. This was on a United plane. Will make me think twice about flying to Europe on a United plane."

I selected seat by window that had no other passengers listed in the seating aisle but somehow in the short period of time I upgrade & walked to gate a middle eastern family with 4 kids, none over 4yrs of age happen to book the seats in my aisle. It was not comfortable & definitely not an upgrade worthy of the xtra $ having kids kicking my chair, yelling, & crying majority of the trip. Had an extreme migraine when finally landed in Houston."

Had I known this ahead of time I wouldn't have purchased a ticket from Frontier. The security lines were incredibly long in Denver and this added a good 30 minutes to my passage through the airport."

Then we were delayed an hour on the tarmack for an hour due to weather. Not their fault But all we were offered was water. Brew was very nice. Just really felt that due to "double whammy". Should have at least got a coke. They also charge $40 for carry on bag. Really."

There was not enough crew to actually issue boarding passes and take bags at the check in line and we only have 35 minutes to get through security , arrived at airport 90 minutes prior. I am not A fan of being rushed when traveling so probably will not use your airline in the future"

Cons: "Flying from Denver to Houston I didn't need to pay for a carry on bag because I was told my bag would fit under my seat (and it did). On my return flight was told by the (unfriendly) staff member that I needed to place my bag in this VERY small contraption and if it fit I would not need to pay for my bag. Unfortunately, my bag did not fit however; I was able to place my bag under the seat in front of me for the entire flight. Previously in November I had to pay an additional $75 for my checked bag being 4 lbs overweight. That is highway robbery, I could have checked in another bag for less than that. I will no longer fly Frontier because I am extremely dissatisfied with their service."

Cons: "Please see the above, being delayed 3 times for a total of 5 hours, being given food vouchers after we had already eaten that were only good for certain shops between certain times and can only be used for food items not gifts. Being given flight vouchers per passenger instead of being given to myself who purchased the 4 flights. My kids are underage and not working they cannot afford the airfare I believe the vouchers given as an apology that cannot be used in this fashion. Had the vouchers been given to me, perhaps my girlfriend and I could fly somewhere this spring perhaps to a friend's wedding. Because the flight vouchers or individual it comes across as a marketing ploy knowing that they will not be used, an insincere apology. I believe that the credit should be at the purchaser's discretion. That would make me a much happier customer. The way the situation is handled will help me further decide on whether I use your airline in the future. When they scanned our boarding passes, they immediately told us to step aside to measure our bags, telling us to pay $130. We ripped off the wheels and handles in front of them and they still harassed us over a sixteenth of a inch piece of plastic that made it slightly too wide to fit into their frame/mold...1/16th of an inch! Rediculous!! We will never fly them again! Be warned!"

Luggage can only be FORTY lbs., not 50, or more fees. I managed to avoid all the extra fees as much as possible, but it's a pain to have to think about it and plan for it. Unless you REALLY need the money, there are so many better airline choices."

Cons: "The "savings" I thought I was getting by purchasing this ticket didn't even count once all was said and done. With all the little hidden charges they put in, it ends up being the same or more. Plus the chairs don't recline! Had I known that I definitely would have never booked on here. There was so little space between the seats that I could see why they couldn't physically recline, but as someone with back issues, this is completely unacceptable. Next time I'll go with a major airline and enjoy the comforts of their actual coach seats...with the extra leg room and reclining seats."

Pros: "My flight from San Diego to Houston, TX was Awesome minus the seats, couldn't get comfortable! I'm tall, so my knees were pressed against the seat in front of me. That's really my only complaint! Oh my bad, I forgot to add the ticket counter..the ticket doesn't open until 5:45 so as a result of that, the line was super long! Free bags and head of the line privileges(Military), quick cheap flight from San Diego to Houston at the last minute=winning! If Spirit continue to improve their airline and I can get an exit row, I will be taking this flight more often!"
Cons: "Long lines, due to Spirit opening less than two hours(5:45) before their morning flight( it builds anxiety of missing the flight), you pay for refreshments, and the lack of comfort because of the seats being too close!"

Pros: "Very expeditious handling of a long line at check in. Timely boarding and on time departure. We had originally planned to have an extra suitcase with us but didn't need it. There was no offer from counter staff to refund that cost. In flight staff was very efficient. Your threat of extra costs for carry on luggage seem to ensure people didn't bring any unreasonably sized carryon items and there was plenty of overhead bin space."

Cons: "Checked in online (extra $149!!), the site took my credit card information and entered a zero balance but had an error message on printing boarding pass. I went through check in process again without paying for anything and it checked me in with no paid bags. Knowing Spirit charges more at the airport. I called spirit - 45 minutes call, I was told my credit card was not charged and that he would "uncheck me" so I could go online to redo in 1 hour. 2 hours later called (45 min call), Christine told me she would "uncheck me" and I would have to go online to redo check in in 1 - 2 hours, 3 hours later called (60 min), I was walked through recheck in online during the call."

Cons: "I checked in the day before my flight and saved the boarding passes on my phone, but apparently Spirit does not scan boarding passes. They then told me I was late checking in, even though I did the day before. They rushed me off to the gate, and had me initial a tag for my luggage saying it was because I was late checking in. I did so, and ran to my gate. I arrived in Fort Lauderdale, my destination, to find that they sent my luggage on a different flight. It was difficult for me to obtain the time my luggage would be arriving, and when I finally did, I had to make a special trip to pick it up (45 minute drive), because the delivery fee was $60 cash. I called customer service and got no where with them, as they defended their employees rather than apologizing for my dissatisfaction."

They don't do it, as they say, to improve efficiency. It is solely to suck you into buying a ticket, then (bait and switch comes to mind) they squeeze lots more money from you. So - how do they really justify charging as much or more for few small bags as the overall ticket price?? Absolutely predatory and lots of people are blindsided by it. In wait to board, one woman said she actually paid for baggage at time she booked flight, then when checked in, they weighed her bag ad wanted additional #50.- because it was 2 lbs over weight. I HATE Spirit and only fly it when no other good option is available. HATE HATE HATE!!!"
