PMO has several transport means to get you downtown. You can take the airport buses, Autoservici Cracchiole, or the Prestia e Comande bus that makes several stops downtown. You can also take the train to Palermo Central Station and neighboring cities. Visit the onsite car rental agencies if you wish to rent a car.
If you'd like to rent a car at PMO, visit the Arrivals Hall to access the rental car desk. You can also take a shuttle to the airport car rental center found offsite. The shuttle bus stop is at the western end of the airport terminal building. This ride takes you to the Rental Car Center.
If you're a U.S. citizen flying to Palermo, you’ll need a valid passport to enter Palermo. It must be valid for at least three months at the end of the trip from the area. U.S. citizens can visit for up to 90 days visa-free for business or tourism purposes.
PMO allows small animals to travel through the airport in their kennels. The kennel must be small in size with a water-tight absorbent bottom. During their visit, the animal must not leave the kennel. Guide dogs for the visually impaired can travel through the airport with a leash.
Taxis are stationed outside of the Arrivals terminal at Palermo Airport 24 hours a day. Both metered and flat rate taxis are available, so make sure to clarify with your driver first. Next to the regular taxi stand, there is also a desk for shared taxis, which can hold up to 4 travelers and cost 8 € (approximately $9) per passenger.
The Hotel Magaggiari is a chic 4-star choice that is a 10m drive from the Torre Pozzillo and offers a shuttle service to Palermo Airport for 25 € (approximately $28) each way. For a hotel that directly overlooks the coastline, select the Florio Park Hotel, which offers a shuttle service to the airport for 30 € (approximately $34).
To purchase gifts or souvenirs, go to the Aelia duty-free store that is located in the main terminal of Palermo Airport. In this shop, you can find beauty products, clothing, electronics, and liquor, as well as traditional souvenirs. There are also a few 2 Hub stores found throughout the airport that sell magazines and snacks.
While Palermo Airport does not currently have any indoor smoking rooms or zones, smoking is allowed in certain locations outside of the main terminal. To determine if you can use your smoking device or have a cigarette, look for official airport signs and trash cans with ashtrays.

Old wear of seats, uncomfortable, hard to seat. Entertainment equipment malfunctioning, sound system bad, old hardware. All together made my mind not to use BA going forward.
The team of flight attendants assigned to Economy class were very attentive. They assisted my disabled husband with the use of an aisle chair so that he could go to the bathroom. They were respectful and patient with him when it took awhile for him to finish. After the flight we went to the ER and he had a bladder infection.
Staff are attentive, pleasant and responsive. Food was wonderful. Wish that we didn’t have to board buses to get to the plane in Rome but went smoothly. Flight was very smooth but ITA can’t control weather. Left late but got there almost on time. Great flight.
A lot of things could have been better. They lost our luggage. We missed our connection from YVR to Naples when we arrived in Zurich and then we got re-routed to Rome and then Naples. We eventually got to Naples but our bags didn’t. Our experience at the lost luggage in the Naples was not at all reassuring. They didn’t seem that interested in our problem. I did a live chat with Swiss customer service and all they could do is tell me to follow the process. Meanwhile we’ve had to spend significant money on clothes and I have to replace medications. This has meant our trip so far has been totally different than what we had planned. It’s not clear that our baggage will ever show up which means we will have lost significant amount of clothing and other things and our two month trip to Europe will have more problems than good memories. So far we are not happy.

the customs line was total chaos. staff were exceptionally rude. was almost late for flight because I was directed to two different lines. once I finally got on the plane it was great. Great choice of movies and games. Staff was nice. the food could be better but I'm happy I was fed. exiting was easy.
Terrible. Flight was cancelled with less than 10 hours notice. They added an extra flight to the itinerary and separated our weats which I specifically had already paid to have together.
Flight was missed due to delayed departure from Rome Luggage lost on Rome.
Missed connecting flight because flight out of Rome was delayed. Had to rent car to final destination. Luggage was lost from Rome. Delta is blaming Ita Airlines and Ita Airlines is blaming. And as of right know neither airline wants to be responsible for our luggage or refund or missed flight. Will not book trips through third party companies such as Kayak again.
Terrible service, uninterested employees, inefficient boarding process, and marginal set up on plane. Staff make the airline - good luck with this one.
Never went to Rome's airport and it was beautiful!!
