Vancouver - allow for enough time to get through the process. Numerous restaurants at Vancouver airport, very good waiting areas and space. Reasonably efficient international customs processing.
SuzanneFlew with Air CanadaYVR-LHRJun 2025
Remove stressors and get to YVR early. Get some steps in at the airport before taking a long haul flight. Expect full flights and busy boarding.

Be aware of how slow the domestic security can be and plan accordingly
SanketFlew with Flair AirlinesYVR-SFOMay 2025
Arrive 1:30 hours early if you don’t have a boarding pass. They won’t issue it if you arrive within 60 minutes of departure.
JesseFlew with Air CanadaYVR-DENMay 2025
keep more time incase connecting flight, usually flights late
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYVR-YKAJan 2025
Taking the Skytrain into/out of YVR is useful. Coming in from the train there is a Security entry just to the right that is usually a shorter line and thus faster.
AmandaFlew with Air CanadaYVR-LHRJan 2025
Leave plenty of time to check in and hand in your on cabin luggage.
Verified travelerFlew with IcelandairYVR-KEFJan 2025
Have some food with you on board. Buy your ticket directly through Icelandair, otherwise you end up to pay for your luggage in airport, $175 Canadian. even if you booked your ticket through 3rd party included checked baggage.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYVR-DENFeb 2025
Take as little carryon as possible. Expect small seats and overhead bins are not nearly as big as longhair flights. Restrooms are tiny as well.
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYVR-NRTJan 2025
Check width of seat. Don't sit in a really narrow economy seat.
AnastasiaFlew with Air CanadaYVR-BKKDec 2024
Bring food with you, the food is minimal and of poor quality.

Quite crammed. Try to get an aisle seat.
Verified travelerFlew with WestJetYVR-PHXSep 2024
Pay for checked items and assume nothing but a small personal item can go with you. You will end up paying more for unchecked luggage that needs to be checked at last minute. I paid $150 just for luggage!! Horrible.

I would recommend Westjet. I suggest checking in at the agent counter. My husband & I don't mind sitting apart on a short flight rather than paying to sit together, but the agent was able to get us seats together. I did think the prices for selected seats was reasonable. Baggage fees were confusing & a bit pricy, but carry-ons were free & plane had large overhead bins.
JeffFlew with Cathay PacificYVR-HKGJun 2024
YVR has nice, clean facilities. Take your time in the International departure area as there are shops, restaurants and lounge facilities for a fee or if you are member of a rewards program
TraceyFlew with WestJetYVR-YYZJul 2024
If you are travelling with an elderly person signing up for wheelchair does help them get from gate to gate with assistance so you don't worry about them missing connecting flights
Verified travelerFlew with Air CanadaYVR-HNLJun 2024
If you are seated in the rearmost seats of the aircraft, overhead baggage compartments may already be occupied with first-aid kits, "emergency snacks for tarmac waits," etc. Contact flight attendants immediately to see if they can help you find alternative places, especially if the flight is full.
CarolynFlew with WestJetYVR-YYCJun 2024
Do not check bags if you have a connecting flight.
MichaelFlew with Air CanadaYVR-YEGJul 2024
Get flight insurance! With no respect for passengers from the monopolized system we have, you have to protect yourself.

Come early to beat security line. Don’t go to Starbucks, go to Joe and the Juice instead.
Verified travelerFlew with LufthansaYVR-HNLMay 2024
Baggage policies encourage too much carry-on, making boarding stressful. Anticipate in advance, pack appropriately. Label your carry-ons well so if you decide to check them, they're ready to go. Sometimes the airline will announce that there are too many carry-ons and will offer to check bags from volunteers for free clear through to your destination.
Verified travelerFlew with WestJetYVR-MSPApr 2024
For better support as a traveller in airports request ticket pricing from the actual carrier to match third-party groups. That way the service could be better in some cases.
LisaFlew with Air CanadaYVR-SJDMar 2024
Bring your own snacks and drinks. Everything costs. They only pour you a small cup of beverage. You don't get the whole soda anymore.

Just want to do a little more clean up so does not smell like urine.

it was a great experience as far as business class.. but I have had better meals and wine on other airlines.. that said.. the price was a great value for what I got in return.. crew made the difference.

Great. Efficient boarding process with the face recognition. Plenty of cabin space for luggage.

Cabin crew is very helpful and nice, it is another level of service compared to Air Canada

Entertainment for kids was good. Good was terrible, needs lots of work.

Better. I took an aisle seat this time. Although the overheard compartment above the seat ahead of me kept opening up during flight.

If I had blood clots, that window seat would've killed me for certain.

Short staffs, I ask stewardess to bring me cognac twice during dinner but they didn't bring it!

Special request meals are really below average. Vegetarian options are very limited if you didn't prebook.

My flight was delayed about 1 1/2 hours in Chicago, but other then that it was a good flight.

The experience was great, the crew was very polite and hospitable. I will definitely make if my go to airlines.

It was all good flight was on time, service was good I enjoyed a few movies and everything was smooth

Efficient, calm when things were delayed and kept us regularly informed of what was happening.

Airbus plane, nice and polite staff, entertainment even as it was a short flight.

Very nice and clean plane. Transit time between flights was tight though

Our flights got changed from United to Air Canada and our purchased seats did not get transferred so we had to pay for seats twice. I brought it up with Air Canada and they stated I had to go back and chase it with United. The united seats were $21 Canadian each and Air Canada were $56 each so we have paid $77 for each seat. Very unhappy

So far so good but food and entertainment are not available for this flight

Plane temperature was comfortable (not to hot) when boarding and waiting for takeoff.

Michael, our FA was very attentive, even finding me a chocolate brownie from economy class when the dessert selections were all dairy based. ( intolerant, not allergic so don’t usually need to order dairy free)

Good, a bit cramped in the seat as my neighbour was a bit large

There was a man who was very rude at boarding. On the other hand personal bag measuring box is too small compared to USA airlines,

The process and flight were both smooth and trouble free

Delays and missed connections were very hard the crew were wonderful but 1 1/2 hours late from Abbotsford to a 4 hour wait in Calgary was too much. I am 79 years old and I didn’t get to my destination until after 1 in the morning. They could have offered a seat in the lounge or a meal. I was very disappointed in the treatment

everything was fine expect massive delays - not the airline’s fault

The checked luggage still hasn't arrived yet. 42 h later. We saw it being unloaded in the stopover location. It was. 5 hour layover so it wasn't a rushed transfer. One positive aspect, it was close to being on time and the crew that came on the clean the plane was very efficient.

Seat back entertainment monitors would be nice. We did enjoy the In-Flight WiFi.

Our flight schedule was changed over six times, ultimately leaving us with a layover much shorter than we originally booked, which meant a panicked run through the airport. And the entertainment screen didn't function. As I've come to expect with Delta, a very mediocre and not customer-focused experience. This is on top of an outbound flight that was so delayed by mechanical issues, we had to spend the night at our layover city.

Staff were courteous and helpful. The only negative was the flight delays (which are usually unavoidable) and the high baggage price.

Could not fly out of Canada. Called airlines on Monday, July 14th. Tried to cancel the flight 7 days away, but they said I could not cancel and there would be no refund.

Air Canada decided to go on strike less then 24 hours before our travel and we had to cancel finding flights elsewhere.

Just the stress of possible cancellations on flights from Air Canada, but all went as planned and everything was perfect! Thank you

The flight was cancelled, which led me to cancel my entire trip

Could not understand what the attendant was saying during his announcements.

Terrible, it’s a mess with the strike. Couldn’t do the Smithers flight because my flight to Vanvouver was cancelled and there is no customer service help to get refund or help

It would have been better if it wasn’t cancelled

Economy seats always cramped, no meal on international flight, no plugs for electronics, but we got there and cabin crew was excellent.

I paid for comfort plus seats but did not get the extra leg room. When I told the stewardess, she just ignored me.

It would have been better if food is served on a 4 hours’ flight

Flight delayed by 90 min making for a 2 am check in at destination hotel.

Very bead I am going to Vancouver to toronto. Not boarding receive. Before flight ✈️ time I have to take boarding. Boarding manager asking me pay $89 . Just flight ✈️ time before I pay .after provided the Boarding pass. Flair Airlines management not good. But kayak is best application.

Not good Even after I made my booking, I was charged $90 for my boarding pass. I have collected boarding pass i pay $90 near . Flair airline not good. Without pay no boarding pass.

The flight was smooth, but the seats are not comfortable. I was not able to sleep. The sizes for the personal item and carry-on are way smaller than other airlines.

Leg room was terrible and seats very narrow. Flight was also delayed.

The worst airline experience that I ever had in my life. The fare was cheap but boy do you pay for it when it comes to baggages, carry-ons, food on board and lack of available staff at check-in. Almost every other passenger on my flight had the same complaints and experience. We all bonded discussing our displeasure. My husband and I will definitely not be traveling with Flair Airlines. We'll take anyone else.

The most uncomfortable plane I ever fly on. The seats won't even recline a little. For a 5 hrs flight at night and tired it felt like torture

Seats in 1 res are dispersed all over the plane, even child was across

Personally, I will not use this fight again. The service is poor, you have to buy even water. They don't provide anything even sneak, you have to buy. They said Personally items for 7 kg. Then they use some measurements, if you have 7kg and if it's not getting inside of their measurements, you have to pay 80$ this is robbery. I will prefer other flight then this. I am désappointement taking this airplane.

It’s a shameful company. It ask as to go to counter to take the boarding pass, they simply send it by email, just to check the bags’ size in a smaller than normal template. DONT USE FLAIR! It will be more expensive than normal airlines at the end.

flight was okay, no wifi, no free drinks but worst of all they lost my son's bike for four days. Customer service was nonexistent - call a number that leaves you on perpetual hold, there's no baggage folks in the baggage claims area (in vancouver). we went up to international and nobody was at ticketing, went to domestic and they had us fill out a form. they could not tell us where the bag was. Anyway, highly recommend you drop an airtag for anything that's worth more than $500. My son's bike costs a lot more than that to replace; I was on pins and needles for four days.
