Some people may be required to check their carryon bags, depending on flight, plane size, check-in crew, etc. Also, taller people should purchase aisle seats.
DorothyFlew with United AirlinesIAD-CDGMay 2025
Fly late at night so you arrive later in the morning and can have a better chance of encountering less traffic if you take a taxi from CDG to Paris. Another alternative is the RER-B which is located in Terminal 2. There are easy ways to get to Term 2 from Term 1 or 3. The ticket machines are located in the train station.
DeeFlew with United AirlinesIAD-LHRFeb 2025
For me the best route to LHR is the late night departure on UAL. The flight is often roughly 6.5 hours so I skip dinner, use an eye mask and earplugs and try to sleep.
Verified travelerFlew with Turkish AirlinesIAD-ISTSep 2024
Istanbul airport is huge with lots of duty free and shopping options. Limited food choice. And if you are on budget, pack your food in advance as everything is si darn expensive. They primarily take Euro .
EllenFlew with British AirwaysIAD-LHROct 2024
Do not check your bag if at all possible, especially if you have a connecting flight. Your bag will not make it.
Verified travelerFlew with Turkish AirlinesIAD-ISTJul 2024
Wear compression socks. If you are really tall get the seat with extra legroom Istanbul airport is hugeeeeee so be prepared and verify that you have enough time between flights if you are connecting Things are more expensive and they accept US$ but obviously charge at the euro rate
Lei-SeaFlew with IcelandairIAD-KEFAug 2024
KEF is not like American airport, not a lot of seating and gate is announced when boarding starts so be prepared to move quickly. Food is good in airport and lots of seating around the food areas.
CraigFlew with United AirlinesIAD-LHRJun 2024
Get to beginning of boarding group early. Bring as little on board as possible due to small overhead bin space.
DouglasFlew with ITA AirwaysIAD-FCOAug 2024
Check out the aircraft used, seat comfort, and quality of meal service, especially in business class.
LexFlew with TAP AIR PORTUGALIAD-LISAug 2024
I had long wait at customs. Please plan accordingly.
RobertFlew with Turkish AirlinesIAD-ISTMay 2024
Learn about the stopover in Istanbul program before you book so that you may be able to take advantage without having to pay for change fees or fare changes.
Verified travelerFlew with United AirlinesIAD-FRAMar 2024
Pay extra for a little better seating. Definitely worth it
MilyFlew with PLAYIAD-KEFMar 2024
Come at least two hours earlier than your boarding time. These “discount” Icelandic airlines are barebones with instructions. Eat outside the airport beforehand. The food sold on Play is very overpriced.

Will not recommend SAS for business travel. Food was so-so. Service was very good. First leg was very good. Second leg from Copenhagen to Barcelona was terrible. We paid a LOT for business class and to have seats worse than most coach seats with no entertainment and no charging available for 1/3rd of the whole trip was not acceptable. Very disappointing. I thought they were coming back in the U.S. with style, NOT YET.

I do not have a problem with the airline but both my two suitcases that were supposed to go from Hawaii to Copenhagen didn’t get on the plane in Seattle. I arrive on Monday the 21st at 10:30 in the morning. I did not get my two suitcases before Friday late afternoon that is unacceptable.

No choice of food. Needed to pay more even for a can of coke!!!

The seats were really close together and hard to get comfortable. The food was okay. The cheese was amazing! I loved the cold towels they gave us.

When my flight was changed from delays they were quick to rebook me.

I really enjoyed how clean and big the aircraft was, as well as how friendly the crew was.

Airline left me stranded in the U.S. gave me an unrequested refund of 40% of booking and canceled my trip back! When I asked why, the said “we don’t have to tell you why”. “But you can rebook”. Never again! Paid 2x and rebooked on Austrian. What a joke!

Painful seats for a 10 hour flight. There’s a very hard flat board in the seat that goes up to half the back and after 7 hours it gets impossible to find the right position to avoid the pain.

I paid for the seat with more leg room but on the day of my departure my seat was changed. I brought it to the airline costumer service and he was able to change it back. The person sitting next to me had the same exact issue.

Great experience. Typically do klm to Amsterdam but may start taking this flight in future - greatxexperience.

We had to deboard 2 times due to maintenance issues. They changed the plane, and then we got deviated to LAX due to maibtenance issues on the other plane, had to sleep at LAX and los a full day.

Everything was good, except the seats in economy were so close together, you could barely get out when the seat in front of your was reclined. If the airlines keep jamming in more and more seats, it will become intolerable. I will look for another airline that considers customer comfort and does not keep adding more rows of seats for more profit.

Great service on board. Boarding a bit slow due to process. Food was pretty average.

Very small cramped plane for an international flight. Everything else was good, but it was maybe the smallest comfort-wise I've ever been on for longer than 3-4 hours and the trip was 7.5

Flight was delayed 3 hours. No food and drink vouchers was provided. They offered a mini pretzel bag and water .

Staff was rude. Didn’t give water for 2 hours. Worst service

Was on time until within 1 hour of flight-how does that happen? Staff very friendly.

I liked the choice of lemon ginger tea. I think stewardesses can be more considerate of older people needs.

We were given vouchers we couldn’t use with a 5.5 hour delay

I fly UAL 7-8 times per year. This flight was not up to snuff because it boarded very late "due to unexpected delays in restocking the plane" and yet Flight Aware showed the plane had landed some 10 hours earlier--so I think they could have planned accordingly. The FA's were nice but harried. The video system had to be rebooted 3-4 times. The food service was rather abrupt; they forgot my row and when I asked for my meal, they brought it with some impatience. Overall, the flight was fine, but the little details made it feel somewhat mundane and hurried.

Handling our luggage was the biggest issue - they lost it and we got it almost 3 days later. Really threw off the beginning of our trip and we really had to change our itinerary accordingly.

Seat was hard and uncomfortable and the temperature too warm and uncomfortable.

No meals included on this long international flight. Most airlines will offer you a meal when flying internationally. Not Icelandair. Your included choices are water and coffee. Poor customer service. The airport was also very confusing.

Best smelling onboard bathrooms ever. Even after use the whole flight. Biggest overhead bins. Most legroom in economy class. Great Icelandiic music. Really nice staff. Icelandair is awesome! (Don’t fly Air Canada! During the strike they lied about no flights available (I booked this flight myself) and hid the process to get money back on their website by obscuring menu titles, then made it difficult and time consuming to fill out. I’m Canadian. Don’t trust Air Canada!

It was good. The air plane is clean and staff were friendly.

Worst airline I’ve ever flown. Delayed 5.5 hrs, missed connecting flight, and missed an entire day of vacation. Zero customer service

Everything sucked. No food, one small glass of water, a tiny coffee, 5.5 hour delay with no customer service. Would never recommend flying them.

The crew was wonderful at check in, the gate and on board. Felt the luggage had more room than the passengers. The seats were smaller than most domestic U.S. airlines. I'm only 5'2" and I had little legroom. There were only 2 bathrooms in coach. Needed more. The flight was very smooth but not the most comfortable.

There was no lounge at Boston for us to use. Typically flying first class overseas comes with lounge privileges. The seats did not recline even a little. My headset only worked on one side. I felt like I was flying on Ryan Air, not Icelandic Air.

The flight was delayed and as a consequence we missed our connecting flight. Were stuck for another 6h in Reykyavik. Appreciated that we got a generous food voucher at least. Would have liked to see more information upon arrival including a person waiting for connecting flight travellers and informing already that we will not catch the flight and directing us to the office dealing with the matter; unfortunately that didnt happen and we hence first needed to find out whether flight had indeed left already and then locate the adequate office to help us with booking us on the next connecting flight. Also my suitcase broke and it is not clear whether it is happened on the leg with Iceland Air from DC to Reykyavik or on the leg with Lufthansa from Reykyavik to Frankfurt. Finally, understood that it is a low cost company but at least provision of earplugs for free would have been nice, instead of making them buy.

Excellent experience in every way, from ground crew helpfulness, boarding experience, inflight service all the way to modern equipment. My new favorite airline. I wish I could fly with them more often.

For a no frills flight this was surprising comfortable. The crew were helpful and nice. The flight was smooth and there were no delays or issues which I haven't had on a flight in a long time. I would definitely fly with them again.

The flight was canceled by play less than 24 hours prior to the trip, and I was unable to re-book. Have not received a refund for the trip despite filling out the appropriate form.

Was was cancelled less than 24 hours prior to my scheduled departure by PLAY. Despite my attempts to rebook my travel, I encountered significant cost increases that rendered this option unfeasible. In accordance with EC Regulation 261/2004, airlines are required to issue a full refund for cancelled flights within seven days of the scheduled departure if a refund is requested instead of rebooking on another flight. It has been three weeks without a refund or an answer

Have not recieved full refund for my flight, which was cancelled less than 24 hours prior to my scheduled departure by PLAY. It would have been better to have USB charging ports available on the longer haul Flight that one of 2 hours

Was very good Staff was great. No tv monitors tho. So long flights make it longer

The worst. No free beverages. No entertainment on an overseas flight. Not enough space. Never again.

Play is affordable! Only way we fly from the states to Europe. Left late but arrived on time

have screens on backs of chairs...offer free snacks and water

The seating has become ridiculous… like a contest to see how narrow and short they can be made- forcing anyone over 5’1 to pay more to not be twisting oneself into a pretzel. Really insane- would have thought BA was better than this. Frankly- it cancels out a lot of the positive aspects.

flight was delayed from BWI to London - missed my connecting flight & then connecting flight (also British Air) was delayed - food is awful, TV & movie selection is great

Three major things that led to my low rating, 1. Internet wasn't available for the whole time, and 2. TV became available way into flight, after numerous system reboots, and 3. Food is not good at all.

Super tight economy class. My knees were hitting the back of seat in front of me (I'm only 5'6"). My small backpack (sized according to their required dimensions) would not fit under the seat in front of me because there is a box (is that the life jacket?) in the way. Over all, extremely uncomfortable. I forgive the tasteless food, but the tight seating was torture

Didn’t fly with them as someone had cancelled my flight

Some how my flight was canceled, neither BA or Justfly.com accepted responsibility. I only found out about this the day before when I tried to check in. I had to book another flight which due to the time ( day before) cost me $300 more. I was still receiving notifications about the flight even when I was on another flight from you. So no my flight to London was not good.

Online check-in 24 hours in advance something seems not so easy to check in to pick seats and to print a boarding pass

I like the crew, very welcoming. Food can be better. The seat arms don’t go up so. I could use the empty seat next to mine to relax better. 3hrs delay 😠

Boarding was efficient and quick, crew was very attentive, seats were comfortable.

Everything was very good! I personally struggled with the heat in the cabin for the first 2 hours
