Top tips for finding cheap flights to Jamaica

  • Washington, D.C., (WAS) is served by three major airports. The Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is the hub for United Airlines and many others. The Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is a hub for Southwest Airlines and more. The Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is a hub for American Airlines and others.
  • All three WAS airports fly into Ian Fleming International Airport (OCJ), located in the north of Jamaica. One-stop flights are available, but two-stop flights tend to be less expensive. For example, you can get an American Airlines flight from IAD or BWI with stops in Charlotte (CLT) and Miami (MIA). Or you could get an American flight from DCA that stops in Chicago (ORD) and Miami (MIA).
  • If you want to fly non-stop from Washington into Sangster Montego Bay Airport (MBJ), you will likely have to depart from BWI on Southwest. Flights to MBJ with one stop depart from all three WAS airports. For instance, you could take a Spirit Airlines flight from BWI with a stop in Fort Lauderdale (FLL). You could catch an American Airlines flight from IAD with the stop in Charlotte (CLT). Or you could catch a United flight from DCA with the stop in Newark (EWR).
  • If you want to fly from Washington into the Norman Manley Airport (KIN) in Kingston, Jamaica, it’s unlikely you will find a non-stop flight. However, you can get one- and two-stop flights from all three airports. For instance, you can get a one-stop flight from IAD on Air Canada that stops in Toronto (YYZ). One stop flights from DCA and BWI are much more flexible, with stops more often in Florida at Fort Lauderdale (FLL) or Miami (MIA) .
  • All three WAS airports have a USO lounge. Active-duty members of the US military or their families traveling to Jamaica can use the USO lounges free of charge and enjoy amenities such as large-screen TVs, comfy seating, refreshments, computers, and more.

mandatory demand customer to check their carry on because not enough people check bags.

Connecting flight is on time and boarding was a breeze!

Excellent. Would encourage Southwest to keep current boarding procedures with free style seating. Makes for a fantastic experience

As always, the entire Southwest experience was perfect. Purchasing the tickets on the Southwest web site was effortless, departure and arrival gates were spotless and comfortable, plane was clean and comfortable, crew was excellent and flight was on time. Wheelchair service in Las Vegas at departure was somewhat chaotic and disjointed, but I am not sure if that was Southwest problem, airport problem or combination.

I wish they had movie screens in the headrests. The seats are much improved, more legroom and recently renovated. Bathroom was clean. Staff was outstanding!!

As always, the entire Southwest experience was wonderful, from online booking to flight to baggage retrieval. Very grateful.

The weather could have been better. There was a 40 minute ATC delay in SFO because of marine fog and a micro cell storm delayed landing and take-off at Nashville. The gate was changed 5 minutes from boarding from gate B3 to gate C23 at Nashville airport.

After being assaulted by a flight attendant I was then brushed off as oh well because he long braids didn’t mean to whip me in the eye. I have filed complaints and will see. But like any other issue I’ve had with kayak involved it’s been trash. Last time I’ll be using your app

AC sub par. WiFi not working correctly. Ac sucked. Seats very narrow.

Crew seemed a bit cranky. No seatback screens. But boarding was efficient and on time and we arrived early.

Great service on board. Boarding a bit slow due to process. Food was pretty average.

Very small cramped plane for an international flight. Everything else was good, but it was maybe the smallest comfort-wise I've ever been on for longer than 3-4 hours and the trip was 7.5

Flight was delayed 3 hours. No food and drink vouchers was provided. They offered a mini pretzel bag and water .

Staff was rude. Didn’t give water for 2 hours. Worst service

Was on time until within 1 hour of flight-how does that happen? Staff very friendly.

I liked the choice of lemon ginger tea. I think stewardesses can be more considerate of older people needs.

We were given vouchers we couldn’t use with a 5.5 hour delay

I fly UAL 7-8 times per year. This flight was not up to snuff because it boarded very late "due to unexpected delays in restocking the plane" and yet Flight Aware showed the plane had landed some 10 hours earlier--so I think they could have planned accordingly. The FA's were nice but harried. The video system had to be rebooted 3-4 times. The food service was rather abrupt; they forgot my row and when I asked for my meal, they brought it with some impatience. Overall, the flight was fine, but the little details made it feel somewhat mundane and hurried.

I didn’t get on plane. Passport being processed by consulate with visa application. Tried to cancel through underpricer after purchasing cacelling for any reason. No dice, they are thieves.

Mostly good. Flight was crowded but Airline personnel were very friendly & accommodating. It would be good to have savory snacks rather than just sweet Biscoff cookies.

It was a typical flight. We had a delay which seems to be the normality now. And we had no in flight service due to conditions.

Flight attendants on this flight were very attentive and friendly

After we landed we sat on the tarmac for 1.5 hours waiting to get to our gate. Ridiculous.

Food should be better quality. Video screens have poor resolution and the library of movies is poor. The other airlines are much better.

It took way too long to diagnose and solve the problem of a broken crew member cabin seat. Though compensation for the volunteer who left the flight was very kind.

We fly American Airlines quite a bit. And we always fly business class when traveling internationally. We were a bit disappointed with the comfort of this particular plane as well as the entertainment options.

The AA staff person who checked our bags was curt and almost rude. The FA also seemed unhappy doing her job. Overall it was like riding the school bus back in grade school.

They are still charging me after taking 466 and 833 for round trip from AR to to Bradley airport from 19 to 21. Then poor experience. Am hurt and I will say it on social media. Please stay away from this airline. I see in my bank account they are still taking 644. Am trying to stop it. I used to fly United airlines and I suggest that if you don't want extra charges and good service you go back there. American airlines delayed my flight again and I was late for my meeting, no recompensation but charging me over and over.

They changed our Gate 5 times, and concourse twice. Changed our seats twice.

Plane was in bad shape. TV’s and WiFi didn’t work. Plane need a refresh. Not enough room for bags.

There was a fowl odour coming from the lavatory the entire flight

Everything was great. I liked the text updates so that I never miss a gate change & I have all the latest info.

I don’t usually fly budget airlines or airlines in the United States. It was as good as any other airline. The seats are comfortable and the airline attendants are not rude & surly. Very nice flight (s).

No internet on a flight over three hours in this age is criminal. Staff inattentive and dismissive

They have the most inexperienced / rude flight staff I’ve encountered

very difficult boarding process - aggressive passengers not the friendliest crew

WiFi was not eorkig (again) And the plane was from 1990 with the screens which were.not touch and most didn’t even work and if lucky could tune in tv

I paid extra for a seat closer to the front. The TV didn’t work at all for the entire flight. Would have been nice to know before I purchased an “upgraded “ seat

It was great. I had never flown on JetBlue before, but would be very happy to fly with them in the future.

Absolutely horrible. Usually pay $40-$50 to check luggage in. I tried to check my suitcase in and the price is raised to $70. That's ridiculously greedy c'mon. I had to leave my suitcase with all my clothes and hygiene products and repurchase once i landed in Atlanta. You guys make it really stressful to travel. Don't even want to travel anymore.

They cancelled the flight 3 hours prior departure. Had to spend $400 for a ne way flight with Delta Airlines! Spirit Airlines are not serios!

My luggage didn’t arrive at LAX, so that wasn’t a good experience.

Terrible seat, no in flight entertainment. No complimentary food or drinks. Seats really hurt my back after flying spirit for the day.

Plastic seat really hurt my back. Cannot even recline on the flight. Very hard to sleep on the plane due to terrible seats . Food and drinks were expensive and not very good. There were like 2 open exit rows behind me. My isle was full so I asked flight attendants if I could sit there. They told me it was a safety issue??? I think it more unsafe to have no one sitting there. In case of emergency, you’d want someone there to help.

The delays and the lack of communication and organization within the airport itself for Staffing this flight and coordinating the paper log necessary to depart was ridiculous and deplorable

It was a no show, so we got put in hotels for a nite. The A320 plane was very modern and flite and crew (if a pilot shows up were fine). Price was very good.

The entire staff from check in agents to flight attendants were pleasant and professional. Would suggest a complimentary water.

I was never aware that I had to pay $100 per luggage to them on the plane that are simply carry-ons. This is discriminatory and I’m going to be alerting my entire family and friends and my Instagram following up over 75,000 of this issue and misunderstanding, including mismanaging.

Very easy boarding! Crew was fantastic and offered us refreshments quickly and efficiently. Quick, nice flight!
