My rental car did not have snow tires!! The weather was very wintery and the car was unsafe on the roads. I was vey lucky not to have ha an accident. The car drifted and the brakes almost always locked and kept sliding. It was frightening and frustrating!!! A very bad experience 😩Reviewed Jan 23 2026

Pickup was great, but the rest of my experience was a nightmare. I had a one-way rental, and during my trip, the check engine light came on, and the vehicle shut off multiple times. I contacted roadside assistance, and they asked if the vehicle was drivable. I told them it was acting funny, and they directed me to drive 30 minutes backwards to New Haven, Connecticut, to exchange it. I specifically asked if a similar vehicle would be available, and they assured me it would be. I called again to see if there was another location on my route, but the second person insisted I had to exchange it in New Haven. So, I went there, only to find that the new vehicle wouldn’t work with my cargo. The team member suggested I drive even further out of my way to Hartford, Connecticut, because the vehicle I needed was only available at international airports. I refused, as it would put me further behind schedule. He told me to contact roadside assistance again. I called roadside assistance once more, and they said there was availability in Newark, New Jersey, which was along my route. I verified that the vehicle would accommodate my cargo, and they assured me it would. Upon arriving in Newark, I discovered the rental was “closed out” in the system, causing further delays. I had to go to the counter, reopen the rental, reverse the charges, and finally get the vehicle I needed. I am utterly dissatisfied with the initial service from roadside assistance. Manchester was great, but the gentleman in New Haven was unhelpful. Roadside assistance caused major delays, and the vehicle issue, while not their fault, severely impacted my experience. The person in Newark who resolved my issues was amazing, but the overall experience was a disaster. Washington Dulles was fine, but I didn’t receive a receipt and had to call to get one. This ordeal cost me over 5 hours of travel time and extra gas money. It was a massive headache, and I expected much better. When I expressed my frustrations to Avis, they credited me $20, which felt like an insult.Reviewed Jan 23 2026

The car was great. The Avis staff in Liberia was very rude. They also charged me a $250 cleaning fee because there was sand in the car that would be easily vacuumed out.Reviewed Jan 22 2026

The customer service at the pickup was not helpful. Told me that if I delivered the car a day before I would be refunded a day and was not like that. I only received a refund of $16. The website didn't show at the top that the car was electric. So I ended up changing the reservation because they didn't show how to charge it. I ended up paying more money. It was a disaster. Very disappointing. The worst service ever.Reviewed Jan 22 2026

Our pickup was in the back side of a motel with NO signs anywhere that said Avis. Hard to find and had to call Avis representatives to find office. The desk representative was not helpful and not very friendly… didn’t show us where the car was, how to work it, NOTHING.. I give her a zero. The car was nice and the drop off in Tuson was easy to find and the representative was very friendly and helpful.Reviewed Jan 20 2026

I had to wait one hour and fifteen minutes for the car I’d “reserved.” The waiting room was packed with people waiting and only had two chairs, The people working there did the best they could.Reviewed Jan 20 2026

Didn’t get the car I reserved. Got a low clearance minivan instead. Car had a catastrophic tire blowout (poor maintenance?) requiring a tow.Reviewed Jan 20 2026

I reserved 2 vehicles for pickup at 9AM. I arrived (getting off a cruise ship, time limited) shortly after and was informed they did not have the vehicles available on location. They were waiting for the cars to be delivered to the location and it would be "at least an hour and a half". I had a large group and had to scramble to find another agency with an available vehicle (or two) that would work. In the mean time, I finally heard from Avis at 11:13AM that the vehicles had arrived. It was very frustrating (and expensive) to not have the vehicles from my confirmed reservation available when they should have been. Never again will I trust my travel plans to this PR location of Avis.Reviewed Jan 18 2026

They did not have the car I reserved and tried to give me a substantially different car. I had to cancel. Many other customers faced the same situation- left without a car rental. It was the worst car rental experience I have had in more than 18 countries I have visited. There appears to be a collusion among the car rental companies at the Marrakech airport so that people have to find a new rental at a much higher price.Reviewed Jan 18 2026

Despite calling in advance to confirm details of any reason I wouldn’t be able to get vehicle I was told at the location of yet another reason why I wasn’t able to rent a vehicle that could have been mentioned during both calls I made.Reviewed Jan 16 2026
