Pros:Car was clean and comfortable, pickup was efficient. There was some incorrect information on the reservation and they cleared it up. They gave me a free shuttle ride back to my airbnb. They have free coffee.
Cons:The car, a Dacia Duster, threw a check engine light on while on the other side of Iceland. I went to Avis service center in Hoffn but it wasn't staffed. Avis did pay for a mechanic to look at it, but his assessment was inconclusive on whether it would make it back to Reykjavik. I lost nearly 4 hours of my trip trying to make sure car would make it back without breaking down on the road. They are extremely pushy on upselling insurance. I ended up buying their general liability with windshield protection on top of the policy I got from Kayak as that policy wouldn't cover the full value of car if it were totalled. Cost approx 100EUR extra for 3 day rental.
Pros:The gas mileage was good. The car handled very well.
Cons:I left my cell phone there, my mistake. However, they did not find it even though I contacted them a few hours after I left the car. I undoubtedly left the phone there for sure.
Pros:Totally unacceptable. I rented the car (one way) well in advance and the guy at the local Avis called me that morning (Sunday) to say they had no cars, no one had returned, and there was nothing he could do about it. I spent hours calling around my area trying to find one but it was a medical emergency, and we ended up renting an Uber, hugely expensive.
Cons:Everything. Avis in Westport is really bad.

Pros:Great car, awesome drop-off experience. Attentive employees who knew what they were doing.
Cons:The pickup still took more than 1.5 hours, even though I had reserved/booked in advance, which made me miss my hotel check-out time. One unfortunate employee was left to deal with a long line of customers who hadn't booked in advance, further penalizing those who had planned ahead.
