The windscreen wipers were very poor and need replacing immediately. It actually became extremely dangerous as we drove through heavy rain - made visibility very difficult. In addition, you accepted (and we paid for) the hire car rental until Sunday 26th , however the place we were to drop the car off at closes on a Sunday, hence we had to drop the car off a day earlier than expected. Please note for future hiring. Finally, when hiring the vehicle, there was a $750 "hold" on my credit card, however instead of being put through as a hold, it was actually taken out of my account. I hope this is returned quickly.

What Worked: Competitive pricing — thanks to Kayak. What Didn’t: Vehicle cleanliness was unacceptable. The car clearly showed traces of pet hair, odor, and dust — evidence of insufficient interior cleaning between rentals. Front desk professionalism needs serious attention. Being greeted with “What’s up?” by an untrained employee attempting to impress peers is not the standard expected from an international brand. This isn’t a local mom-and-pop business — staff should be trained to represent the Avis name with professionalism and respect. The return agent, however, demonstrated excellent customer service — courteous, efficient, and customer-focused. Maintenance: Within days of pickup, an oil change/service notification appeared on the dashboard. Vehicles should not be released without completing scheduled maintenance. Regular oil changes and inspections are basic customer assurance measures that prevent dissatisfaction and potential liability. Final Note: Kayak — excellent as always. Avis — you can and should do better. Train your staff, clean your vehicles properly, and maintain your fleet before renting. Your global reputation depends on it.

Had over a two hour line for the desk, so we had to cancel our car rental and pay $100 more for a different car with Dollar. Multiple car rental agencies there and only Avis had a massive line

Arrived at the Denver Airport Avis facility at approximately 12:45 am on Saturday October 18, 2025. The line of 50 customers was wrapped around the waiting area (think Disney ride line). Avis had 1 (one) agent on duty. A second Avis representative came out and addressed the crowd of customers by stating “We don’t have any cars but we can rent each of you a 15 passenger van. You can come back tomorrow and try to exchange it if we have any cars by then.” The customers became irate. Many left but many, including me, stayed because there were no other viable options at that time of the day. 2 hrs later I was issued a vehicle. I received an email from someone claiming to be an Avis representative at that facility the night before my rental period was scheduled to end. They asked for photos of the key fob and vehicle information since they didn’t know what vehicle I had been issued. I called the Avis national call center because I suspected that the email was a phishing attempt. The representative recommended that I not respond to the email and that the branch could contact me by phone if they had questions. I returned the vehicle at approximately 4:00 am on Monday October 20, 2025. The parking lot Avis representative scanned the vehicle in and told me that I would receive my receipt by email. I phoned the Avis national call center multiple times after I returned the vehicle and finally received the receipt 6 days after I had returned my vehicle. Interestingly enough, I also received a second email from the branch 6 days after I returned my vehicle asking for the same information about my vehicle. This was the single worst rental experience in more than 40 yrs of renting cars.

Car was dirty when we got it. French fry’s were all over the back. There was no washer fluid in the front or rear.

I rented a fullsize car. They were out so they gave an suv. Never received a receipt but was charged an additional $154. Not sure why. Was told I wouldn’t be charged for the bigger car
