No traveler should arrive at 11 pm (or any time for that matter) and find around 30 people in line with ONE person working. The sign also was not clear as it appeared the line was only for Avis customers. The sole person was at the Avis counter and no one was at the Budget counter. There was a sign that said "Fastmark" or something Budget customers go upstairs. Since no one was at the Budget counter, I went upstairs. After waiting in line there,the lady told me I have to go back downstairs to the merged Avis / Budget line. Of course, there were more people waiting in line by then. I waited a bit pissed off and saw other car rental companies with one to five people in line. So I went over to Enterprise and got a car without a reservation. Meanwhile, after getting my papers, I looked back at the combined Avis /Budget line and felt sorry for those people who were still in line. I was probably in my room 20 minutes from the airport before some of those people at the Avis / Budget line even got to the counter. It is inexcusable for a company to have ONE person working a counter when they know flights are coming in with reservations. Now, I have to deal with getting my money back from Budget........

Budget staffed the counter at CLT with one employee, occasionally two. There were at least 30 people in line, some with car reservations, resulting in wait times over 40minutes to pick up cars. Some customers were in line for well over an hour. The counter agent gave information on under 25 year old drivers which contradicted information readily available on Budget’s website, & made our trip much more tiring. If we hadn’t been waiting for 45minutes to pick up the car we’d reserved, and if the line to pick up cars hadn’t extended out of the corral & past other rental counters, we’d have discussed the discrepancy with the counter agent. The vehicle we were assigned was very dirty (the windshield was especially filthy), cigarette burn holes decorated all the upholstery, there was known damage of which we were not informed, the routine maintenance required indicator accompanied us for the entirety of the trip - and the car *reeked* of cigarette smoke. The funk that roiled out of the vents every time the car was turned on (immediate recirculing air is an undesirable feature of the model) was disgusting. Admittedly, it wasn’t vile enough to send us back to the counter-where-time-stood-still. We drove with the windows down whenever possible, if not prudent. Budget charged over $1,000 for the privilege of renting the rolling ashtray for 5days. While it’s not standard practice to speculate about Budget’s allocation of the fees, for this experience, at least, it’s painfully obvious the money’s not being put toward staffing, employee training, maintenance, cleaning, or quality control.

Staff who helped us in Charlotte was super friendly and the staff at Atlanta were helpful with giving directions/instructions. Car was a decent value.My car smelled like cigarettes when we got into it. There had clearly been an effort to reduce this smell but it still lingered throughout the trip. Additionally, the desk was severely understaffed at the time of pickup and it took nearly an hour for us to get our car. It seems a bit unreasonable to have 2 staffers for such a busy time and I'm sure the employees were also unhappy about this.

Good vehicle, easy to get and dropoffI think with the gas issue in the Carolinas there should have been a reduced rate to prepay a tank. I was told by corporate that would be the case and yet was charged $80 for a tank.

Gas was only 1/2 tank full but prepaid for full tank. Credited me back the 1/2 tank on return though. Poorly cleaned internally.

Unable to contactMy flight was canceled and I couldn’t get ahold of anyone to change my reservation. I was charged for a car I was never able to use. My voicemails on their system went unanswered.

Hidden informationThe only reason I booked with them was because of their price.But I guess you get what you pay for. When I first booked the car online nowhere did it say of you are in-state you have to have a credit card or that you have limited mileage. How is this fair when if I was from out of town I got unlimited miles and could use a debit card for the 200 deposit??? Getting to the place is where they tell you all of that. Since I dont have a credit card I waisted money on a reservation with them. They wouldn't let me add another driver to the policy since the reservation was done online (yet's not an option to add another driver). I couldn't use someone's else's credit card with the same last name as me (and who was right there with me to give consent for the use of their card) yet at other car rental companies I have done that before in the past. I needed a car and theirs was cheaper so I ended up getting another reservation with them in someone else's name. With this reservation (although it was also done online) I could now all of a sudden and an additional driver to it. They said when we turn the car back in, any occurred charges could be paid for with another card. When we brought the car back, they lied and said they wouldn't charge us for an additional driver however, they did anyways placing that charge on a credit card that no charge should have been made to. I had absolutely no problem paying for the additional driver, however it would have been done with a debit card so don't lie to me about where it's getting charged to not mess up people's credit status.

Mediocre at bestCar was clean and easy access from airport to rental area.I rent d a Toyota RAV4, a mid size SUV. I got a Ford Escape, which was NOT midsize. The car was horrid, the rear squeaked with every bump and it was cramped. NOT what I had signed up for. Very disappointed, as I had specifically NOT chosen the Ford Escape choices online, yet still ended up with one.

First and Last Time Ever Using AdvantageThat I eventually got a car.The process of picking up the car in Charlotte was outrageously terrible. Truly, their operations felt like it was their first the 80s. Seriously, how can it take over 30 minutes to pick-up a car for which you provided all the essential information in advance? I booked this for price but it was not worth it.

The staff members were great!I tried to contact customer service at kayak because I purchased vehicle coverage it enterprise does not honor it and I wanted to cancel it for that reason. However, each time I called, I was routed to enterprise and couldn’t get a refund. I will not use your service again

NothingOn line it stated that a depoist would be taken for a debt card but when I got there they would not take my card so I had to wait in line at Avis for 45 mins and the price was 177 vs the 49 that I was quoted on line I will never use the on line service again

Super long lines to pick up, had to spend 1 hour with a toddler in line and no other lines at any other rental agency. Accepted a car with a 1/4 tank (which I was happy to do) just to get a car faster. Felt really bad for the workers having to deal with it all. If you can’t turn them around fast enough, don’t set them up. Set up for failure.

Pick up and drop off we’re good.Cleanliness was bad. Inside and out, had to clean it myself before I let my family inside. Used mask on floor, fake fingernails on the floor. Sticky substance on the console. Some type of substance in back covey compartment in the back that I could get removed with my hands. Outside was dirty and with some hardened dirt(?). Plus there were painted numbers on front and side windows that would not come off with cleaner, I assume was painted on. But the worst part was the driving. Once it got to speeds of 60 or more the inside would shake and vibrate. Can you imagine having to deal with that for a week and a half of driving. What a major pain. At least the steering wheel did not shake. But it did vibrate like everything else inside. So had to deal with rattling sound all the time. I suspect the alignment is way off. I did let the check out person know this concern when I dropped it iff.

Could not choose type of car. Was billed a $49.95 refueling surcharge upon return even though I returned the car with the tank full after filling up less than 2 miles from the return point.

Customer service at pick up was great but the line was over 45 min long, not enough customer service reps were working.I reserved a VW Jetta or “similar” and got a 2 door camaro that was terrible. The line was way too long to wait in it again to try to change cars.

The "full-size SUV" was more mid-size than full-size. We didn't have any trunk space and then the car's maintenance required sign popped up on the first day we had the car. The Hertz employee said the car had Blind-Spot Monitoring - it did NOT.

Good jobStaff was very friendly and helpful. Van was ready when requested and was clean and full of gas. Check engine light came on while we had the van but that could happen to any vehicle at any time. Overall good experience.Just that check engine light. But that could happen to anyone anywhere with any vehicle.
