We were provided what should have been a nice SUV, but once we spent a little time behind the wheel, it was apparent that the truck had serious transmission slipping. Every gear change felt like the whole engine might fall out of the vehicle. Our pickup was Christmas Eve, so we returned the truck on Christmas Day and we were told there were no other large vehicles available. We were then told we couldn't get a refund at the counter and that we would need to call the main number. We did that and filed a case and requested a refund and we were only given back half of our fee. I filed another case and asked for the rest of the money and haven't gotten a response after 5 days. I'll keep trying.

I had made a reservation and had a budget confirmation number. When I arrived at the desk to pick up my car, the clerk said that budget does not honor reservations made the same day, because they have to prioritize other customers. I had an hour and 15 minute drive ahead of me to a town where my high school friends funeral was occurring the next day, and it was too late for any other options.

The airport counter was quick, but then there was only one employee at the next level to give out the cars. The line was 15-20 people long and there did not actually seem to be any cars in the parking lot. People in the front of the line had been waiting a half hour to talk to the one employee. Others who had already talked to him were standing idly waiting for a car. We left without renting.

Drop off was great. Pick up always is almost always filled with bureaucracy with Richmond. Never given the exact vehicle you wanted. Smaller or way bigger than you want.

HERTZ IS THE ONLY CAR RENTAL PLACE AT THE AIRPORT THAT HAS A MILE LONG LINE. I HAD TO WAIT AN HOUR IN AN EXTREMELY HOT AND HUMID PARKING LOT FOR A CAR....EVEN THOUGH I HAD A RESERVATION. I WAITED ALL THAT TIME TO BE HANDED A CAR THAT DIDN'T FUNCTION PROPERLY (A TESLA THAT CUT OFF/SHUT DOWN SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING) AND WASN'T FULLY CHARGED WHEN I GOT THERE. THEY DON'T SEEM TO BE IN ANY RUSH AT ALL NOR DO THEY SEEM TO CARE/TAKE THEIR JOB SERIOUSLY. THE RETURN WAS QUICK AND EASY...BUT I KNEW THAT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. I WAS CHARGED FOR TWO EXTRA DAYS BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T GET AROUND TO CHECKING IN THE CAR UNTIL THEY FELT LIKE IT. IT WAS SUCH A HASSLE DEALING WITH HERTZ TO GET THE MONEY BACK. WHEW CHIL THE GHETTO!!! NEVVVVEEEERRRRRRRRRRR AGAIN!!!

My original reservation was at RIC. The female Ms. Black wasn’t welcoming nor friendly. Ms. Black which was her first name first asked for confirmation number, license, and credit card. When I asked her to be sure I was told that’s what I wanted her to ask me! She then started, drivers license, and credit card. I pulled out the card I used to made the reservation with also handed my license. I was then informed that Dollar doesn’t rent vehicles to in state customers using a debit card (attach to bank). I politely took my things my husband wheeled me back to our car. Sad, and confused based on verbiage I read on Dollars website. Decided to take a chance to visit another location. This location was on broad street in Henrico, Va. The store was closing the manager Marie came out to see if she could help us. Since store was literally closing she asked which car would I need? I pointed to the closest car considering I’m sad because our trip is not going as planned. Maria may have seen the sadness in my eyes. She then said don’t worry I’ll have the vehicle ready as soon as they opened. She also took down my reservation number so she could make sure things went smoothly in the morning. We returned bright, and early Saturday morning, to Maria’s word everything was ready! Due to myself using my bank debit card the system required a credit check. Just a suggestion, not everyone likes to use credit cards. I am a firm believer if I don’t have it to spend I don’t buy. Especially with working for a large financial institution for the last twenty one years. This is also the company who works with organizations such as Hertz, Dollar to provide corporate discount services. Possibly if being required to leave a $500.00 deposit when using bank debit card, the option for credit check should be second suggestion or if person may be a liability. Overall Maria helped turn this negative, humiliating experience around! I am truly grateful for the level of service, and professionalism that she provided. Appreciated she was the one to take accountability for the actions even though she didn’t cause this. Her ability to resolve the situation was truly appreciated. Because of Maria showing me that I mattered, she who represents Dollar showed she truly wanted my business. Kudos once again to Maria! I pray she’s considered fior any increases available to show appreciation for all she does as an employee of Dollar. Warm Regards,

There was no one at the airport counter, and a sign for dollar that was misleading. The actual rental location was a booth in the rental garage outside in the twenty degree weather. There was only one person working the holiday weekend and the process took over an hour
