Room was very comfortable. There was lots of choice for breakfast. The hotel location was very good for castle and other attractions. We were near lots of restaurants.
the proximity to the main Edinburgh attractions, parking availability, supply of extra pillows, big rooms.
The upgraded room was appreciated we will stay here again. Did not have breakfast - thought that £16.50 was expensive
Breakfast was amazing! Staff were very helpful and hospitality was good The fridges were dirty and the carpets could do with new ones
Large, confortable rooms. Located within walking distance to all city attractions Noice from neighbouring pubs at night/early morning.
Great location, superb interior design of the room. Very modern style In-hotel gym was temporarely out of service bu the hotel offered a free entry at a partner gym
good facility. hospitallity of staffs. and location. somehow internet is not working properly good in both case of WIFI nor Wired connection.
Easy to drive to and park my car. Ideal city centre location. Exclusive hotel for a rugby supporter's weekend.
Old world charm meets modern amenities- you can't go wrong with this hotel right on the royal mike in Edinburgh. Excellent staff, well maintained rooms, and full service. Health club has good assortment of machines and free weights. It's bloody cloudy in Scotland- spent an entire week and didn't see the sun once.
Central location, valet parking
Good car parking. Close to city center. Great breakfast. Frendley staff
The location of the hotel is perfect to enjoy Edimburgh, very clean hotel and the staff was very good, also the cocktails are well worth a try! It was a very good stay, if anything the hotel should install doubble glazing or double windows, also having to queue for breakfast in a 4 star hotel is not really good so make the most of the breakfast in your room for an extra £2.50, that was perfect and on time! no queue!
the pool and breakfast in bed friendly staff lack off parking for near hotel access also i bumpd the back of my car parking outside as you have to reverse park on a busy road!
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the spa was very relaxing.
Excellent room. Sauna, steam room & pool facilities very good.
Beautiful, brand new hotel. Our city double room was lovely and fairly spacious. Staff were lovely, very pleasant and helpful. None really, other than we didn't receive our complimentary newspaper, but we weren't bothered enough about it to enquire.
Central Location - 1 min from bus & train station, shopping centre, pubs & restaurants, Spa Facilities and Staff were also excellent
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! Lighting was rather dim & furniture was slightly dusty.
the hotel was central comfortable good facilities and hotel staff v.ery helpful and courteous
Staff were wonderfully helpful. The fitness room was very well-appointed. There was no chair (except for the desk chair) in the room, and the restaurant could use some improvement in quality.
The room was very comfortable and quiet, the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Very clean & comfortable hotel. Friendly & efficient staff Location was a little further out than originally thought..
Easy check in, size of room, temperature settings in room. Rooms in need of an update, a little bit out of the way.
the friendlyness of all staff from reception to cleanres. This made our stay the use of leisure facilities. The pool area could do with a little re furb
The hotel staff were the most pleasant I have ever encountered, they were all lovely, which makes for a wonderful stay. No
Being able to use the swimming pool and gym We have stayed here about five times before and have always had a twin room on the Scottish Parliament side of the hotel but this time we were in a double on the other side which we found darker and a little bit noisier. We are used to a bigger bed at home and because of the size of the duvet we needed to put the bedspread across the other way and tuck it in, otherwise there was a draught on our legs. I think possibly when we booked there was only the option of a double room rather than a twin.
very helpful staff The £3.50 tray charge on room service was a bit much
The location, very central. Staff very helpful no requirment to find a parking space!!
the meal was excellent!
The friendly/helpful approach displayed by all concerned..Next time there is no choice Macdonald without fail - well done
I chose this hotel because it was centrally located, easy to walk to from the train station, and a good price. It was exactly as advertised - no more, no less. If you are just looking for a place to lay your head at night while exploring Edinburgh, IBIS is a good choice. The staff were friendly and efficient, the room and bathroom was clean, and check-in/out was simple and direct. Overall I would stay here again. In over 20 years of travel, every hotel except one has fallen short on pillows. Doesn't matter where, they are universally flat and usually require 3 or so to be good for me - I'm a side sleeper who likes fluffy firm pillows.
Location in the heart of Edinborough. Booked 6 months prior to stay. Realized the next day, that I had booked a room for Saturday night, when I would be in Edinburgh only for Friday night. Was unable to switch nights even though it had been less than 12 hours from the time that the reservation was made, and the reservation was six months in the future. Had to reserve a second night. Rooms were clean with a modern open concept layout. Tried a bit too hard to be hip, no trash can in the room itself only a 1 gallon sized bin in the bathroom and no tub in the bath.
Excellent location right by Edinburgh Waverley and the Royal Mile. Staff were courteous and attentive. We booked a twin (I was staying with my brother), but the booking was registered as a double (through kayak/booking.com), but they sorted it quickly and efficiently. Hotel rooms are quite warm and air con is ineffective.
location housekeeping poor. On both nights of my stay i had to request towels for the room, on 2nd day there were no towels at all.
Central location for shops and restaurants Noise from street - not really fault of hotel. Very drafty windows - needs double glazing/draft excluders
Location of hotel was excellent Waited 30 minutes on luggage arriving and had to return to reception, who explained they didn't know where it was to go as they had forgotten to take room number. Also the bathroom didn't appeared to have been freshly cleaned prior to our arrival.
Location was great. Restaurant has a great breakfast buffet. Staff was accommodating. Pool and spa area was nice. Thought the spa men's room can be tidied up and cleaned better.
Exellent location Parking was my only issue and i thought the bar prices were expensive for the quality of the drinks but there are better bars within walking distance so not a major issue.
Location was excellent. Prices were reasonable My room was small and stuffy. I'm not going to complain about lack of A/C as this was in Edinburgh, but my tiny room had no circulation and was warmer than the ambient temperature. I found it difficult to sleep at night until I requested and received a fan. Unfortunately, the first night after getting the fan some idiot set off the fire alarm at 0300 and I had to get up at 0500.
room was very clean
The staff at the reception and in the bar were very friendly and informative and the hotel is in a great location. Everything seemed tired and needed updating. The AC in the room was broken. There was no iron in the room, which is something I have never heard of in a 4* hotel. The bathroom door would open onto the toilet. There was no conditioner in the room. The towels felt and looked very well used & we encounter a very rude waitress while having breakfast on Sunday. Also, a man was assaulting a woman in the reception area and it took hotel guests to break it up before the staff did.
Price of room and friendly staff 1st room was noisy
close to train station and night life too expensive, not very clean, nothing extra (e.g. bathrobes, slippers etc)
Although this was a brief trip the standard of room, staff and facilities were excellent. Room was a bit noisy from traffic outside
Very stylish and up to date; very central; Nothing
Having separate lounge and kitchen
great room,good location
Very convenient with children having their own bedroom. Having a kitchen made it easier for children on restricted diet. Secure parking very useful. 24 hour reception is excellent. Great location but still nice and quiet. Car parking spaces were very small and difficult to get in and out of. The cleaner left some toxic cleaning material in the bathroom by accident.
Roomy and comfortable. Well equipped. Good location some building work and parking was tight
location/ free use of the lobby coomputer/ the staff are very helpful and very nice. I felt very safe and secure. I would have prefered a more quite room, not located near the busy road. I think the beds could be a bit more comfortable.
The location is perfect, and especially impressive for the price. The staff left a little to be desired - the service was a bit perfunctory.
Really enjoyed our stay here this week. We even got upgraded to an executive suite which we hadn't asked for which was a bonus :)
The high standard of design, the cleanliness and the location make the Aparthotel ideal for stays in Edinburgh
Very good location, excellent value for money - wanted 2 bedrooms, apartment cost £90/night for 2 of us. Could not have got that rate anywhere in a hotel in Central Edinburgh at that standard. kitchen very useful and well equipped - living room comfortable. nice to have 2 bathrooms.
the staff were extremly friendly
So very central. Useful to be able to get to the Waverley Station via the lower back door which was just a case of crossing the road to the station. Would be useful to enable access for booking into the hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly with no exceptions. There was no 'heart' to the hotel. No where to sit peacefully other than the Bistro which was open to other customers and did not have seats to lounge in.
Using the Vermillion lounge in the evening for a quiet drink was very pleasant. The Scottish chap with very short hair who attends the door in reception is a great asset to the hotel. We came accross him on several occasions he was always helpful, pleasant, professional and friendly, give him a large pay rise!!!! We had some difficulty getting drinks in the Vermillion lounge. I dialed the number on the card as suggested but no answer. The chap from Chile who is studying for a Master in economic development sorted us out in the end, another significant asset for you hotel I hope you look after him
We were upgraded to the publisher suite which was spacious and atmospheric. This really helped to make toe stay memorable. The staff were friendly and obliging. Overall an excellent service.
Everything!!!! The staff were excellent throughout- ur room was very spacious with a brilliant view over Edinburgh. Restaurant and bar were fabulous and enjoyed having the luxury of the spa right on the doorstep. Fabulously central location.
Friendly helpful staff, very comfortable room, excellent service
Beautiful, excellent location No coffee or non caloric sweetener in room
The helpful staff Could benefit from air conditioning
Staff welcoming and courteous. Good size rooms and facilities excellent
The quality fo the room was excellent and the free upgrade was very much appreciated, as were all the little extra touches. The breakfast.
All of the staff where extremely helpful.
Staff were very helpfull. The location of the hotel to the conference just across the road was excellent. The heating system in the bedroom was quiet noisy when it was on.
Nice modern hotel in a quiet side street, very close to the theatre we were attending that night. Pleasant reception staff both on arrival and when leaving. Attention to detail with regards to cleanliness, bedside tables and desk were very sticky, everything else was fine.
Friendly staff, minor problem in the room, a broken iron, was dealt with very quickly. A top score in my view. Breakfast - excellent.
A good clean well run hotel with friendly and helpfull staff .
Very nice and comfortable room.
Staff were excellent Breakfast varied and high quality Location perfect for seeing Edinburgh Niggly maintenance issues eg door handles broken, shower pulsed hot and cold, noisy plumbing
Ideal location, good food and with private parking
Very nice modern rooms, good location & very good value.
room only option - safe facility - reception staff very helpful - location no bath but shower was good
Helpful welcoming staff. Well located for the city centre.
Situated exactly in the centre easy access to everything The food was disgusting although it was included in the price we ate away from the hotel
the room was themed and very cool, maybe not to everyones taste, but it was like a mini museum Theres no reception area as the hotel is over a bar
Excellent location. Poor food.
visit relation living in Edinburgh
fun hotel, in the vibrant center of the city
It is central to main tourest location and close to both shops and restaurants. There is also a number of good pubs and guided walks basically outside the door. The ground floor pub is friendly and Atmospheric no lift, but i knew that before i went.
Central location, friendly staff, quirky decor Bathroom in need of slight updating
Loved the room! Cool themes of famous Scots. Staff was friendly and accomodating. No elevator (could be an issue for those on top floor with lots of bags). And no signs as to where Hotel Registration is (its actually the Pub - only way into the hotel is thru there!)
The room and its furnishings were painted black!! I found this most disconcerting.I was not warned that the hotel had no lift. This was a Problem.
Good service, clean and friendly.
Great people, great food excellent room Shower was cold on the first day
Courtesy, cozy room, excellent typical Scottish breakfast If you like sleeping... No late breakfast (last entry time 9 am) - but quality of breakfast helps you waking up!
Our host Heather was undeniably helpful and pleasant. Our room had everything we could need (including sherry). Quiet. Bathtub rather than shower. Hot water was warm only.
Beautiful, warm and homely with lovely owners who made us feel incredibly welcome! None!
Lovely hostess, very friendly, great breakfast, lovely chats. Nothing!
Personal service .Close to the centre of Edinburgh including Theatre and Princes street . Easy parking and clean and comfortable room Breakfast time availability a bit tight 8.30or 9 am
Comfort of room, size of bed with quality of linens and lots of pillows. Little extras like sherry with crystal glasses, dish with hard candies, large TV to view, coffee and tea for your convenience, window with view, no stairs to haul luggage up/down, visitor information and recommendations from owner when asked. Bathroom fan very loud when turned on
Very warm welcome, lovely room and extremely comfy bed. Excellent breakfasts with lots of choice. Ideal location for city centre visiting, plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
Owners friendly and helpful. Central location. Parking. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed and excellent en-suite.
Convenient location N/A
Excellent value for money for great location. Large, clean room very comfortable.
The location is fairly central which is good. The hotel was generally cold throughout, the room was cold. The room was clean however i would say the bathroom requires some form of general cleanup. I would imagine there are cleaner more comfortable hotels for the same money elswhere.
Great price. Perfect location to walk with luggage from the train station (less than 5 minute walk) and close to a bus stop (less than 10 minute walk) to the airport. Incredibly helpful staff. Clean rooms, well furnished. So pleased.
I liked the fact that tho we presented ourselves off the flight from Dublin at 8.15 am the receptionist said we could access the room after housekeeping had finished, around 10.15. We had breakfast and returned, very grateful. Had no complaints
The location is perfect: right below the Royal Mile and next to the central station and the bus stop to/from the airport. The staff is friendly enough, the room clean and comfortable.
very central far too expensive for a three star hotel
the reseption staff who made our checked in was very helpfull staff
The location is great for sightseeing and for shopping, and is just a couple of minutes from the train station. The rooms are a good size and were very clean. The rooms at the front overlooking the train station are very noisy.
Great location, very comfortable hotel at a reasonable price, very easy access to the royal mile from the back. Thought the male receptionist checking me in was a bit unfriendly, probably the end of a long shift. I did not take any of the coooked buffet breakfast as it looked so unappetising. Rest of the breakfast was very nice though.
Cheap rates for Edinburgh. Tired and room not clean - empty crisp packet lying on floor. A little spartan.
The hotel is in a convenient location for walking around the Royal Mile area and exploring Edinburgh. It was clean, comfortable and the included breakfast was good too.
Wonderful hotel with great staff. Craig, the Manager, was a great guy always helpful and smiley! Would definitely come back. Nothing!
It was nice to experience a brand new hotel that was only opened two days prior staying.
Pleasant modern hotel good location , good breakfast Heating difficult to operate no instructions extra blankets not provided
Clean and secure hotel. Good simple breakfast.
Great location in city center Services were poor for the price charged, parking was very expensive, room was small, no face towels, lobby has vending machines with limited service and cramped
Clean and good location
Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are big and confortable. Nothing negative expect for the breakfast. Limit amount of breakfast. Might not be a good choice if you are going to stay in Edinburgh for more than 4 days.
Central location. Comfortable room. Breakfast could be improved with more selection of hot food.
proximity to Royal Mile Hotel wanted to charge 25 pounds per day for small dog. When queried, they then said £25 for entire stay. Eventally, they did not charge for dog.I thought this was a very excessive charge and this should have been stated before we made the booking.
Hotel is in aquite place, yet very central. Rooms are clean and refurbished in a contemporary style. Rooms are a bit small.
Its convenience for a city break plus comfort and value Should of stayed longer.
Location is perfect for exploring Edinburgh on foot Old rooms, bad beds, poor hygiene, breakfast not so nice.
This hotel provided good service at a price which is acceptable and the location is idea
The building has got plenty of character and was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpfuland ithe restaurant good. It was very central but in a quiet location.
Very central and comfortable. The breakfast was reasonable quality and room was clean and comfortable
Excellent breakfast, friendly staff great location minor point: poor baggage-leaving area - not secured or really watched, didn't use it.
A clean and tidy hotel with good facilities and helpful staff Some rooms at the top of many flights of stairs
ountry House hotel feel, staff very friendly, room very clean and well serviced. Restaurant quite small, not advised to book when checking in so not always possible for all residents to eat dinner.Single beds a little close together. Not sure what was 'special' about the special twin room.
the room nothing to declare
