It was very good. Affordable and reasonable luxury, perfect location for shopping and edinburgh landmarks exploration. We hardly used public transport during our stay. Excellent staff. Would surely stay again.
level of amenities and comfort, also excellent staff
The cosiness of the room was really nice yet it had all mod cons; also private access to our own walled garden! The shower was very nice indeed as was the bath. Both made all the better by the soap. On a further note, the tea and coffee making facilities were exceptional! :) and we very much approved of the fruit in the fridge.
Size of apartment, features
Very Personal touch. Very clean. Nicely stocked kitchen. Graham is an extremely helpful person. None
Excellent facilities, faultless service. Outstanding.
Superb staff who did everything they could to help us enjoy our stay, lovely room, quiet location and only a 5 minute walk to Princes Street. Parking is a wee bit limited, but again the staff helped out and the problem disappeared. No issues at all.
Quiet, spacious, comfortable No hotwater on evening or following morning,so had to have tepid shower and bath. Only glass wall between our room and hall so could be seen going between bedroom and bathroom from outside!!! cleaner arrived 2 hours before checkout to deliver equipment to clean room, visible through glass wall.
Luxury hotel, perfect stay.
Ideal location for the city and the ambiance of the hotel. Breakfast service was very good sets the day of to a relaxing start 4th stay at the Edinburg Residence and standards are dropping. At checking in handed a key and left to find our own room in the bowels of the hotel then faced with a trek back up to reception then back down to car park to collect luggage then back again, Toilet seat falling off, wall paper loose and loose floor tiles. Not what you expect in a 5 star residence
The staff was extremely accommodating, and the suite was beautiful, the bathroom huge.
It felt very private The breakfast was not brilliant and the lift was broken during our stay and unfortunately we were on the top floor
warm freindly . great service. large rooms . clean .great vaule at price booked at.
The suite was a very good size, having breakfast served in the room was an added bonus and the jacuzzi bath an unexpected treat. Recommended.
Relaxed atmosphere in sumptuous surroundings. Not applicable
Really friendly welcoming staff. Room was beautiful. Huge bedroom with huge sitting room. Very elegant. White toiletries and big high quality towels. Excellent cooked breakfast brought to the room. It was like staying in a country house. Luxury in the best sense
The staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. My Classic Suite was beautiful - exceptionally comfortable, spacious and clean. The bathroom was especially good with its huge kidney-shaped bathtub! I would highly recommend the Edinburgh Residence and hope to stay there again.
out of this world- service, comfort and a real treat
The staff and service were superb. The in-suite facilities were great. The huge spa bath was very welcome after a long day. The view from my top floor room was amazing - and the food was absolutely first class. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others, and I will stay here again without doubt. The hotel is quirky. It was previously time share apartments, and some of the decor in the communal areas is in need of updating.
The bar and location e.g. the fact they had a car park
Location. Friendly staff. Easy check-in/out. No pool.
Gorgeous room, great view of river, pampering toiletries. Everything felt like good quality.
A few more towels in the bathroom needed (i got them when i asked)
The mattress was confortable, the room was clean... Unfortunately we listened the neighbours at 7 in the morning! Walls to slim
location and pub in grounds
Location, ease of walk to city centre, views from room and secure free parking Staff were not keen for us to use the nearest door on our arrival and wanted us to carry our luggage around to the front from the underground carpark, I think this was because there was a function taking place. The bedroom needed some odd jobs doing, eg shower leaked and bathroom door would not shut. They were very busy and could have used more staff at the reception desk.
staff small rooms
Location and parking Room is in need of refurbishment
A smart and comfortable hotel in a good location close to the city centre. The breakfast was first class.
Helpful staff - nothing too much trouble. Car park.
Staff friendly;room decor very nice; centrally situated in a quiet area Too hot!! (Rooms & corridors) Extremely difficult to get in & out of bath
The room was a good size and with lovely views of the city and the sea in the distance. The web site is over generous in its praise of design features. The bathroom was only average in all respects and the hospitality tray poor for a hotel in this price bracket.
Huge bedroom with a great view of the church at Stockbridge. The location was excellent and I also loved the main course we had in the restaurant on the Friday night - 2 courses £14 per person - Exceptional value for money. Service could be improved. Restaurant is open to the public and hotel guests don't get priority. In the morning, I had to ask for a number of things during breakfast.
Relaxing envirnoment in the city, staff were extremely helpful! Will stay again. Highly recommended!
Quality environment and relaxing atmosphere
We were looked after very well by the staff and the hotel was central for all amenities.
The clean and stylish appearance of the decor and the pleasant staff and enjoyable breakfast room Breakfast cold table should be chilled in my opinion, especially the meats, cheese , yogurt and fruit. Room TV menu was not too great.
Friendly and efficient staff, very comfortable room and a first class breakfast Even with my best nit picking hat on could iI find any fault with the Bonham,a treat to stay there
The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was very handy for both the city centre and Leith. The rugby union fans were a bit rowdy after the Scotland-South Africa match and the decor could do with some updating.
Nice room, friendly staff, good bar prices, nice restaurant, good breakfast. Short walk to city centre. Decent parking. Overall, great value for money.
helpful staff nothing
Great value for our money, stayed here two nights on our way out of Scitland wished we stayed here on our way in to Scotland as well. It is an older hotel so done rooms are going to be smaller however some are huge. However the do an outstanding job of utilizing space and the quality of the accommodations and staff were wonderful.
The friendly staff willing to go that extra mile to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Especially Gemma at reception who was very helpful indeed in every way. The purpose for my visit was attendng a bast friends wedding. This hotel was fantastic and very good value for money. There was no min night stay which made it even better value from a solos travers point of view it was easy to be there by yourself.
Period Features and proximity to Central Edinburgh We were given the smallest 2 rooms situated in the roof space.
The size and appearance of the room and the four posted bed. Fairly expensive.
Excellent service, friendly staff. Single room was small, but very comfortable. Would happily stay here every time I visit Edinburgh Car park too small - I had to park on side street throughout my stay
I liked the open friendly approach of the staff. The hotel was exceptionally clean nand tidy.
stayed 20/11 as was attending a wedding in Edinbrgh from arrival to departure we could not fault the staff in anyway, fantastic customer service. found room no 9 a bit small for £120
very friendly staff!! execptional service bathroom too small
Quiet away from the city centre. The bed was horrid. Very uncomfortable to sleep on
Staff Outisde road noise
it was ideal for the city centre good location and had parking
The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was lovely and clean, breakfast was good and the location was excellent.
Helpful, friendly staff. The breakfast was good with lots of choice. Good value for money. Room was nice and clean.
The staff were extremely pleasant and we were made very welcome. The room was very nice and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent.
Clean, nice atmosphere, excellent internet wi-fi service in guest room, good hospitality of staff None
very central, pleasant staff and very confortable accommodation
Beautiful room, very large, classical style, high ceiling, and as bonuses a big leather couch and a wide screen television ! Much better than we had expected, we regretted not having one more night to spend there ! None !
Very helpful staff, at reception and the girl who cleaned the room. Gave tourist information which is so helpful.
It was a very nice b&b, very confortable, well decorated and a spacious bathroom. The breakfast room was lovely and the breakfast itself was very good.
staff v helpful room instructions inaccurate (tv, phone). no little shampoos etc in my room
Liked the cosiness of the little individual seating areas. Nice and warm Never any staff on duty and no-one answered phones. Everytime asked for say ice, glasses was charged individual £4.50 each time on bill. Tiny lift. Unqualified staff on duty, did not know how to take payments
What a gem! It is located so that city buses and tourist buses are easy walks but it is quiet at night. The room was great and the restaurant was good. Finding the hotel was a bit challenging because we are Americans and we're not used to UK street signs. BE WARNED! When they say no parking, they mean no parking is available. (We took our rental back early and honestly, it was so much better not to have it.)
The double bed was very comfortable with individual covers. The television in the rooms are cumbersome to operate and could have better selection of programmes.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was generous in size with comfortable furnishings and a very good bathroom. Location is nice and quiet but easy walking distance to the City Centre.
Warm friendly staff and lovely comfortable sitting rooms with log fires
The hotel was beautiful, had a great location on a quiet street with an easy and pleasant short walk into the west end and the staff couldn't do enough to help with any request. The rooms were lovely, comfortable and clean and our room was quite spacious with a big bay window. The meals and breakfast were great too! In all I cannot fault Channings and it really helped to make my stay in Edinburgh something special. I want to go back!!
the area that it is in no
Nice, cheerful and typical atmosphere, staff very nice also
The breakfast is really good. The attention and customer care are really good. It is near the centre but you need to take bus or taxi to get to the main places
This is the hotel we always use, so it's like home from home for us. We are comfy at the Channings. We particularly like the bar area which is friendly and well used but not ridiculously noisy or too lively. Nothing we don't like, but maybe we notice that certain areas need a little freshening up? We didn't read the guset reviews, so can't comment.
Location of the hotel - 10 minutes walk from Edinburgh. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Rooms were a very good size and very clean.
We booked 2 3 bed rooms, for our family who were visiting from Thailand. The staff couldn't have more helpful, arranging trips and what to see in and around Edinburgh. Rooms clean breakfast perfect overall great value for money. Highly recommend you won't be dissappointed. Thanks to all the staff.
the staff was wonderful, very attentive The rooms on the surface are clean enough, but could use a deeper "spring cleaning" .
Nice place and good to hear local voices running and working in it.
good location, lovely breakfast enclosed bathroom / shower not as fresh or clean-smelling as one would expect. Layout resembled 2 adjoining houses, bar & lounge seperate bulding to bedrooms.
staff offered to have breakfast ready early as we had a flight to catch. nothing worth a mention
Nice room, comfortable bed, good bathroom facilities. Convenient for transport links. Breakfast fine. True the weather was very cold, but the room could have been a bit warmer. Also, we fancied a whisky nitecap when we came back at about 10/0 o'clock, but our room was in the other part of the hotel with a separate front door and the key supplied did not fit the lock of the main door so we couldn't get to the bar.
Extrenely friendly welcome, very polite and friendly personell Leak from ceiling during very heavy rain, but sorted out satisfactorily very quickly
excellent value for money excellent breakfast convenient for railway station
We had booked this hotel for our friends. They were very satisfied. Friendly manager, good service, good location and they will absolutly recommend the hotel to their friends.
Friendliness of the staff and cosy atmosphere
Staffs are very kind and hospitable there are some rooms in basement.
it was quied situated no
Nice location, good size rooms, friendly
we were made very welcome and the breakfast was exelent n/a
We had a huge room with lovely furniture in it. The bathroom was new and very functional. The hotel is located close to Princess Street (appr. 15 min. to walk). It was quit inside and outside the hotel. The breakfast was phantastic and they had an open ear for special wishes. I can highly recommend the Lairg Hotel and I will stay there again during my next visit in Edinburgh. Everything was fine and we had nothing to complain.
The full Scottish Breakfast was lovely and the young lady who served was very friendly. Hotel was very clean and comfortable with a homely feel.
clean and friendly bed was so uncomfortable hotel had to change the mattress. Room on top floor and had to carry heavy suitcase myself - no lift
Very friendly atmosphere, helpful and good service.
Location, value for money, helpfull owners, accessibility to city centre. Cost of parking the car.
An optional breakfast is excellant and fresh, they offer tranditional scottish and light as well as vegetarian breakfast. and the staff served for you politely, you were treated like V.I.P.
Friendly, clean only 15 minutes walk to Princes Street. No complaints, thoroughly pleasant experience.
lovely modern clearoad wn room. reasonably priced room service availble. friendly helpful staff orks outside were a bit noisy, not the hotel's fault though
Location was very good.
very nice staff and very good food
clean and good accessories make a difference: good furniture, soaps, etc. Our room was a bit small, but v comfy
I thought the staff were lovely and very helpful us ,especially as it was our first ever trip with no parents
Location - Staff Small car park and no permits issued by the hotel for local parking. Cigarette burns on bedside table and coffee table. Room smelled badly of stale cigarette smoke. Shower door not fitted properly - very wet bathroom floor. Towel rail and soap dish hanging off the wall.
The hotel is clean, rooms are well-equipped and staff were helpful and friendly. Desk and chair were very close to the end of the bed and leaves little room to manouver. There was a shortage of plug points with only one available at the desk. Despite booking a smoking room when we arrived there was no room available - to be fair to the hotel they did move me (and paid for transport between hotels) for one night to another Apex in Edinburgh which had a smoking room and then gave me a smoking room in the original hotel for the final 3 nights of my stay.
The bed was comfortable. No storage space - not one drawer to put clothes in. Cupboards ridiculously small. Had to roll up clothes to fit. Toilet and w/h/basin so close it was uncomfortable. Breakfast - once piece bacon, tiny spot mushrooms, tiny portion beans, one egg and then - HALF a slice black pudding and HALF a slice haggis. £13.50 for that!!
convienent for city centre and good standard of rooms
