Good size room, nice breakfast, very close to station and easy walk to sights of Genoa. Air conditioning wasn't working while we were there.
proximity to middle of town noise from lane in front of hotel
Too expensive, room was poor (maintenance, cleanliness). Breakfast very plain. Lovcation in centre
Perfect location, just few meters from main station. Hotel is clean and well kept.
The hotel is very closed to city center
My room looks nice, including all the facility I needed, but it was not quite clean. I could saw ashes flying in the morning sunshine.
location is very close to train station Genova P.P. There is WiFi for extra money, but speed is extra slow and not stable. Door of room is not sound prove at all. If you sleep and somebody walks in a corridor feeling is like that somebody is in your room. TV signal is bad.
central & close to station We had to carry our baggage up two flights of stairs to reception. No lift to foyer but lift to rooms. Was inconvenient with 5 women & suit cases
Position in the heart of Genova Very small room, very small bathroom. Breakfast available from 8.30 to 9.00!!! Very bad people coming back in the evening/night. Really too much expensive for the quality they offer.
Closeness to points of interest (Acquarium, Porto Antico in general), very pleasant, helpful staff.
Good situation. They only speak italian !
Good value rooms, clean & well located in the city The staff.
Very comfortable breakfast was adiquit The bed was only 2.6in like a childs trundle the first day the room was unserviced
Nothing For a 3 star hotel, they do not have functioning telephone lines. You can not make a call outside. No internet facilities, no ironing facilities, a very long, narrow stairs at the entrance without lift and the worst is; the area is extremely dangerous in the nights. You can not go out at all.
This Hotel had steps to get to reception and no help with elderly mother. Room very small and cramped wod not recommed unless very cheap. Up side street and not easy to find
Nothing, we did enjoy leaving They refused my crew entry one night because they had not been paid even though we had not checked out yet and then when we did pay there was a discrepancy on the total which they wanted to resolve with a fight, threatening my colleague and swearing. They are a very aggressive staff force and we were terrified.
no lift and a large number of steps to climb at main entrance
The buffet breakfast was fit for a queen! There was so much choice of different foods on offer and even included my favourite food, smoked salmon! Also it was convenient to train station and not far to walk to port and other attractions. If you wanted to leave a window open it was quite a busy, noisy area but we wanted to be near train station for convenience.
Helpful hotel staff
very bad internet connection (especially in my room 232). parking service takes too long (we were waiting up to 30 minutes to get our car in the morning)
nicely appointed and good location, breakfast was well done. The room we were given was very small and we had requested an extra bed and there was no way to put one it. So they gave us a bigger room but the window was blocked by a screen from the outside which i guess was put there to obstruct the view of a building and the a/c unit. I think as long as you don't get that room, you'll be fine but the normal double room is quite small.
Location is outstanding especially being close to Stazione Principe and great sites such as via Garibaldi. The small and cosy feel to the hotel is attractive; it is not large and impersonal.
The hotel was comfortable with clean rooms and within a block of the train station. Nice breakfast room. Nothing
Nostalgic setting and environment with sapcious room that we liked most. Breakfast is good and lots of choices. Location is very convenient to Station Principe, Genova. The windows can hardly be open due to too close to nearby building and no views at all.
Our room was large & very nice. The staff was very pleasant & helpful. Bicycle racing groups took over the hotel & other guests took second place, particularly in restaurant for dinner & breakfast (no other nice restaurants nearby). Neighborhood was a bit questionable (felt a bit uncomfortable walking, even during the daytime) Altho close to the waterfront, the waterfront is all industrial etc. Otherwise, the hotel itself was just fine.
So convenient to main station, metro, bus station and maritime station , especially when using 24 hour transport ticket that included shuttle bus from airport to main station. hotel quiet despite proximity to sevices.
Great atmosphere, excellent rooms and the antique elevator..beautiful. Very close to harbour, 5 min. drive.
i came to the hotel parking straight from France thanks to my car gps ,the staff at reception was perfect and answer my worries:how can i park safely my car.and sold me tickets for the boat to take us to the Nautica international.i was also advised to a very good traditional restaurant in the vicinity for a nice dinner.100% efficient.thanks. none
Quite expensive but the hotel is lovely, new but very well planned & designed with flair to give a great atmosphere - the location helps of course, being right on the water. Also a lot of little accessories were provided in the room. Unusually, as there is nearly always something to criticise, we could make no criticism of The Jolly - Marina at all.
view I must go away two days before and I must pay for all period. This condition is not correct.
there is no wide varity in food menu
In Centre City. Near The Aquarium
Very good hotel located into marina. Yachts are all around.Fantastic bar and restaurant with perfect terase.
Great Location, central and easy walking distance to restaurants, marina, aquarium etc
Paid for a regular room and got an awesome luxury apartment. Expensive (and full) parking, had to park in the (yet more expensive) Aquarium parking next door.
The Hotel is well located but the staff, with rare exceptions, was not helpful at all. We needed a late check out ( around 2 PM ) to catch a plane and the lady at the desk told us she couldn't do it because the hotel was fully booked. However, acessing Booking.com we could easily see that there were, at least, 20 rooms available for the next day. We felt deceived because we were lied to.
The staff at the hotel were very pleasant and eager to please. The hotel was a good combination of quirky and antique. The location is central. There was some street noise even though we were on the fifth floor.
only stayed one night, Good location and friendly and helpfull staff.
Nice spacious room. The bathroom really small and no internet which it said there was only in the reception area. Can be alot of noise from outside during early hours of the morning.
Theese room doors are not good as a hotel-room door. It look likes garage doors.
Just the location Really old rooms, poorly renovated. Weird smell in the whole hotel. Poor light.Poor window view. Awful decoration. Got a really ''cheap'' feeling during my stay
Very close to Porto Vecchio and the Aquarium. Staff very helpfull
Location was excellent - in the middle of everything. Stuff very nice, the room was clean and comfortable.
The only positive argument for us is that the hotel (???) is situated in the by Unesco protected pedestrion zone of the city, on walking distance from stazione principe and nearby restaurants, harbour... No trafic allowed but... (read our negative argments) Huuuuge cockroach in the bathroom - bad smell out of the foot washer without trivet - terrible disturbance on all tv channels - shower walls full of mould - no reading lounge - staff spoke only a few words english, no communication with guests - internet to pay for this room price?? - no minibar in the room to keep water cool - electricity works in all halls - not finished wall painting - window can't be opened - very noisy airconditioning machine in the room - partybeasts loudly passing through the street during night and early morning - breakfast is a disgrace : packed toast bread but no toaster, cornflakes but no milk, no fresh bread, no ham, no cheese, only few coffee cakes for all and packed cookies, no fresh juice, no eggs, no fruits
nothing to like about Room layout and breakfast
Not far from Train station, good location. 1 hour free internet was handy. Breakfast was nice, so too was the waiter. Noise outside was awful, kept us awake most of the night. They wouldnt allow a 5 minute early breakfast because we had to catch a train. English was a struggle. Very expensive for what you get. No fridge or aircon.
It was pleasant enough and had everything I needed.
Nice place, small price, basic hotel in a cute central road. Reception willing to help.
Friendly staff. Clean. Close proximity to everything. It lives up to it's name - mini. But given the price...
If you don’t want to ruin your impression of Genova and Italy choose another hotel – the staff is very unpleasant and impolite.
Big room, separate bad for child
the location the size of the room
Incredibly helpful staff. Central location. Easy to find. Room was spotlessly clean. Room was slightly on the small side - but we booked a basic room & it was fine for a couple of nights.
My girlfriend and I staied in Hotel Helvetia just one night during a weekend in Genova and all has been perfect! The staff is very friendly and really kind! The position is fantastic and the price is onest, it has been a fantastic choice for our week-end visiting the Acquario di Genova (see the distance in Google Maps)! This hotel is recomended referring to our direct experience! Maybe the room was a bit small but it is perfect for short trip!
The hotel staff's ability to communicate in English and their willingness to provide a map of the area, walking directions, key points of interest, restaurant suggestions, information on train schedules, and taxi notification was wonderful. The hotel staff was able to accommodate everything that we needed and answer all of our questions. The service was top notch!
Conveniently close to train station and harbor; good breakfast served earlier than in most other hotels
Rooms small... but not bad for European City standards. Staff very friendly.
Inexpensive accommodation close to station Room on busy street - very noisy
Great location, not too far from the main station and not too far from the Port or the main square. Staff were very helpful, esp the lady on the day always helped with questions and queries. The only problem I found was on check out they wanted payment in cash which I didn't have so had to go find an ATM and get out enough. I told the guy on the desk I didn't have cash and he gave me no other option, there was a efpos machine on the desk so no idea why I couldn't use my card. Put a whole dampener on the stay.
Great location, ceilings in bedrooms stunning! Room a little chilly.
The beautiful frescoed ceiling really made the room special. But there's only one room like this, so request it if you want it! Very convenient to the main train station. No elevator to the second-floor (third floor for Americans) location.
perfect location near train station and right in the city center, nice rooms with old paintings on the ceiling, friendly and helpfull staff everything is a bit old and needs renovation
Very convenient location and warm welcome. Good size room with a nice cup of coffee and cornetto to start the day - what more do you want? No problem to us. But for someone less abled, the top floor location might possibly be a problem but with prior notice the helpful staff will surely assist with luggage etc.,
Interior Price Staff view not include Nice location ! i like the design, its really genovese)) Breakfast not good without mini-bar
Beautiful big room, brand new bathroom, great location, very friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is on the 3-rd floor without elevator - may be an issue for some people (not us).
big rooms loudness of the street
We booked 2 rooms for our weekend stay in Genova at the hotel and both were nice. The bathroom in one of the rooms and the paint seemed newer. We really enjoyed the frescos on the ceilings and our well traveled dog was welcomed warmly by staff. We would stay here again.
The staff was nice and the hotel was located very close to the aquarium. The room was clean and nice with a great painted ceiling. None
location near the train station; good value for the money; wireless internet availability lack of noise isolation from inside noise, but this is only important during busy early mornings;
the hotel is very close to the train station, just 50 meters. the room is small, all the equipments are soso. the room is too small.
convenient to the train station Noisey bar outside our room window
central location rather expensive and very noisy from traffic all night
Helpful staff and proximity to sights. Bar patrons outside room window made excessive noise until after Midnight.
It was central, we could book a place for our car in the nearby garage, the staff was very nice
very friendly staff & comfortable, clean rooms lack of fresh bread at breakfast (it was packaged crisp bread instead)
It was quite close to the railway station (Principe) Our room was across a laneway from the vent of a commercial kitchen & the room continually filled with cooking oil fumes so it was quite unpleasant.
Room 101 (!) is a good sized room but the double bed does take up a lot of space, bathroom is a fair size and very modern. The hotel is about 100m from the main railway station. Breakfast was good, and staff friendly and helpful. Not much of a view from the widow - but that's a really small point..
Kindest of hotel staff
The hotel was in a good location, close to the railway station and an easy walk to the museums and harbour. Free wireless internet was available downstairs. Our room was so noisy we couldn't sleep - it was right above a really raucous restaurant. After complaining we were moved to a worse room for our second night, but the noise was almost as bad. It also had what must be the world's smallest shower. The hotel didn't have a real lobby area, just a rather bare room off reception to sit and use internet.
Old-style ambiente, quiet, perfect air conditioning.
Everything was just great.
We had a wonderful stay - our view was of a beautiful courtyard with all of Florence beyond, the staff were super helpful, breakfast was ample (and available till noon!), and the breakfast staff fantastic. Would very much recommend this hotel :)
Within a 15 minute walk from points of interest. Valet parking eliminated all parking hassles. Once grand but now rather outdated. Hallways very unattractive. Very expensive at full room rates and not good value for money. I would rate in-room accomodation as 3-4 star.
Nice old world atmospheric hotel Still renovating. Car Parking inconvenient. Inexperienced staff. Overpriced. Good 4 Star but not nearly up to 5 Star level.
The spa facilities were very good The staff were helpfull and friendly There was a good choice for breakfast The parking attendent damaged my car while parking it and then denied it From now on I will park my own car
Nice location, very nice staff, excellent breakfast, old but luxurious rooms; good choice...
Good breakfast buffet Not flexible about kids access to SPA
Location is perfect. Staff speaks very good English. Beds very comfortable. None
the rooms and bathrooms are clean I travelled using my car. on my arrival there was no space for my car in the hotel parking (in 5 stars hotel this is!!). only one resturant in the hotel with a limited veraities.
Loved the location, our room was large, comfortable, clean. The staff were wonderful and breakfast excellent.
Beautiful, well-appointed room, very close to the main railway station. Very friendly and helpful staff. No hotel restaurant. Not a big deal, but a hotel purporting to be five star should have one.
Excellent staff. Good location. Family Rooms.
Location. Very nice in the middle of "old town". Very noisy. Rooms were not soundproof at all.
Excellent location for old town, shopping, and train station for day trips. Room layout could have been designed a bit better, i.e. work desk too close to bed.
the hotel was good value, centrally situated with car parking facilities. we had a number of rooms a the hotel four rooms and we intend to use the hotel again as we come to Genova each year having previuosly used the Jolly Hotel nearby,
Professional service, Nice people, Very clean rooms, nice price Not a lot of parking space! Not easy to find
Perfect position for main areas and accessability to others. Staff were very helpful during trouble a) after bagsnatch b) getting transport to airport during strike. Staff Andrea (all) /Marina/Daniel v good.
This hotel is centraly located in the old part of town but it is set back and difficult to find with no view. Typical old hotel everything you would expect from a building of this perioud.
comfortable room, excellent location, helpful staff
Location of the Hotel, and the Hotel's standart. You get what you expect. Charge for parking was over the top.
The hotel was, clean, friendly, secure and private. I didn't care for the choice of jazz music in the breakfast room. Otherwise, a brilliant hotel in a brilliant city.
For a three star family run hotel my wife and I received 5 star treatment, especially from Paolo on reception. The buffet continental breakfasts during our stay were plentiful. A very good location with only a short walk from the train station and a short walk on departure to our cruise ship.
in the center nearby the harbour where you can take the ferry, excellent restaurant (il lupo) just in front of the restaurant the street in front of the hotel has recently been changed into a one-way street
Staff are extremely helpful
·Large comfortable room ·Giant bath by Italian standards. Sink, toilet, bidet, tub with hand-held shower (it could use a shower curtain). ·Mini fridge that was kept stocked with water. ·Large balcony with a view of the port and the sea. ·Lots of hot water. ·English-speaking staff was friendly and helpful. ·OK breakfast. Ask for espresso to avoid the Italians’ interpretation of what they think Americans like. Italy has much better coffee than the US. ·100m from Genova P. Principe railroad station. ·Easy to find – giant red neon sign. ·Queen size bed. ·Good restaurants very close. Tratoria Lupo. Good coffee bar very close. ·Elevators. ·Very convenient location -- 100m from Stazione Genova P. Principe, bus station, and Metro stop. Easy walking distance to nearly everything in the historic center. ·Family-run hotel.
Very attentive service. Even the decor looks dated, it is super clean and lovely towels. Very convenient location. I can't fault anything...
The hotel was in a central location and very convenient to the railway station. The breakfast was adequate. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom.
Location, friendly staff, good room.
Excellent location 3 minutes walk from main station, easy access to historic city centre and old port
Location, pleasant breakfast room and service Bedroom felt cramped
Location! very close to Central station and old part of the City. Half the price of all the other hotels we stayed in in Italy. Hotel is old school type but spotless. Some fresh fruit for breakfast hooray!
See previous survey from my stay on October 15 to October 18, 2010
away from the centre so nice a quite on a night, also not to far to walk for sightseeing. It is ok for use as a base could do with some new carpets
Have good breakfast *It's hard to find the hotel, the hotel is in the china town and no any sign dirction. *Very high parking price (20% of room price), the hotel didn't tell us about it, we thought it was free.
The room and the bathroom were fairly small but modern and comfortable The hotel was situated in a fairly rough area which made us feel a uncomfortable about going out on foot at night
very close to the center of the city and the train station Very, very hard to find with GPS and a good sense of direction. Small hotel signage at the end of a busy one way street - with very limited parking. Good if you are walking or taking a cab - nightmare if you are driving.
The reception people was very helpful and nice. The room was small and the queen bed was made with two individual mattress, it is uncomfortable because you feel the division
Convenient and pleasant. No air-conditioning in the bedrooms at night
The hotel location is just great (about 1 minute from the central train station). We booked deluxe room and it was very comfortably designed (two levels).
We had a great stay!! The food in the restaurant was delicious, the staff very helpful, the quad room was spacious and even had a balcony. Great location for train travellers
Close to train Genova PP
Very friendly and helpful staff at every point during our stay (3 nights). A couple minute walk to the port, main piazza, and restaurants. A block behind is a small ghetto which you may want to avoid but we never had any problems at all and we were out all points of the day.
The front desk staff was friendly, knowledgable and very efficient. The guest rooms were comfortable and very clean. Housekeeping staff is outstanding. Excellent selections available for the continental breakfast. Sorry did not see any egg items available. I suggest that the front lobby and reception areas be upgraded to create a positive impression upon arrival. My first impression upon arrival in the lobby area made me question the status and quality of the guest rooms. Fortunately, my overall experience was very positive.
