Pros:We upgraded to an automatic---sure glad we did!
Cons:When we dropped of the car at the rental facility at the outskirts of the airport at 8:30pm, there was no more free shuttle bus to the airport. So they made us taking a taxi, which cost almost 10 EUR.
Pros:The car was nice new and in good condition.
Cons:Hertz is a rip off. After all the hidden fees (admin, credit card, service charge etc.) my cost increases from what was advertised on kayak ($50) to a whopping $175. This is a complete rip off. Kayak needs to do a better job of capturing these kinds of hidden fees and charges otherwise it is impossible to compare apples with apples. Although the care was nice k left feeling ripped off and frustrated at the whole experience.
Pros:It was a quick drop-off, just like I'm used to in the US. Everything was in order, and there were no hassles. The shuttle came within about 5 minutes.
Pros:They got us a car.
Cons:A long of a line. Boring line, waste of time. To far from the arrival gate.
Pros:Very friendly and personable, and after an hour wait, for service, the care they delivered was great.
Cons:I had verified that I have full collision damage insurance with my credit card and had the policy, but they wouldn't give me a car without a letter or call from the card company. This proved impossible to do on the spot so I had to take the $15 Euro a day for redundant insurance.
Pros:Given what I had read online and my past experiences with car rental firms in Ireland I was expecting a hard sell on the extra insurance, despite the fact that my AMEX card covers rental cars in Ireland (very few cards do!). But Hertz was very easy to work with and got me into a high quality car. I would definitely work with these guys again.
Pros:I was given an upgrade and the staff were curtious.
Cons:You need to purchase their insurance which requires a minimum $2500 coverage. This amount is then deducted from your credit card immediately and refunded at the end of the rental. Also has a flat tire that ended up costing over $200. There was no damage so I thought it would not have been a big deal. Could have easily stopped and had it repaired for a fraction of that. Even a can of Fix A Flat would have fine the trick.
The one-way fee for returning car to different location is extortionate.
Pros:The counter is in the airport.
Cons:The car was scratched all over. It was smaller than advertised and it was older than expected. I paid for a luxury car, while I did get a BMW, the car was covered in scratches. It took more than 2 hours to get the car once off the plain. There was only 1 person working the counter and he was clearly being paid commission in the insurance he was selling. BEWARE of the insurance pressure from the counter workers. The worker was trying to convince me that I needed €100+/per day coverage for insurance. Total scam. Drop off was easy.
