Pros:The car was clean, spacious and a great model.
Cons:I was very disappointed that this international brand Avis would prey on Renters, specifically Americans, by not making them fully aware in their printed materials that they require a 5000 pound hold on a credit card if you are fully covered by your insurance and want to decline their coverage. We live in Europe and have driven in a dozen countries and have always declined insurances. We were pointed to fine print of the agreement we Box checked months ago at the counter in Ireland that we needed to put a 5000 pound hold on our credit card or pay double the amount of our rental with full coverage. They make no attempt to point this policy out to renters- we rented a car through a local brand in London and I had detailed information in my printed papers of what was needed. In Ireland at the counter it feels like a scam- they want you to pay more for your car or hold this hefty deposit though we know our insurance covers us everywhere. The people at the counter tried to convince us that we did not have coverage and we couldn't print nor call to approve the 5000 pound hold, so we were stuck. When I said that we were Americans that live in Europe, she Backpedaled and said they could put 2500 hold on our card for a 120 more pounds and coverage which was half of the full coverage and double the cost of our rental. I found out after it is fully waived with our documents. This information should be in front of renters- and I know the reason its not is because they are making money shocking them at the counter. Shame shame, but I have shared this with my communities of Americans on facebook that travel in a Europe and here, and I will avoid Avis in the future no matter how nice my car is.

Cons:I felt that the agreed upon price was completely ignored. The agent ride to up charge me multiple rimes and tried to charge me an extra day. I felt that I was being hustled. The signage at the drop-off in Cork was inadequate and unclear as to where to drop off the key. I will switch to another rental car company in the future!
Cons:The quoted price is not an accurate picture at all of what the total was. I was quoted $238 and paid almost $800 due to being told our U.S. Car insurance does not cover us ireland, so they really stick it to you there with the extra cost. It's ridiculous!!! And shameful practices This is advertised as pick up at airport, however, you do have to take a bus, a 10 seater sized bus, to the remote pick up location where all car rental companies are at. Between waiting for the bus over a half hour for the first one to arrive, and too small to take everyone and waiting a long duration again along with the long line at the counter it was a 2 hour expire cr before I was on my way!

Cons:Car insurance through Avis was more than twice the cost of the quoted rate. Web site poor at explaining cost and coverage, so I called twice and spoke to 2 different reps to clarify.
