Pros:

Excellent service with renting the vehicle. answered all the questions we had about the GMC we rented. Drop off was easy .

Cons:

I didn't care so much for the model I rented for the long trip we took, there were a lot of little things ,not Avis fault but GMC the way they designed the car. I can go on and on about this but If I had to rent another car I would come back to Avis. by the way this is a great way to check a car out before you buy! I would not buy this GMC SUV. but my next trip I would definitely go back to Avis.

Intermediate SUV

I was given a free upgrade which I thought was really nice but it turned out not to be. The car was returned to Enterprise the day before I picked it up by someone else and it appears to not have been cleaned or checked before it was given to me. There were coffee stains and puddles in the center console and the shifter was wet and sticky. The trunk was soaking wet with puddles of soap and water and the car stunk like a swamp. I could not use the trunk for my suitcases and I was planning to use the car for a road-trip. It turned out to be a cramped road-trip with people and suitcases all in the back seat of the car.

Pros:

I like how the person that helped me when I picked the car up. She was amicable and replied to my questions in a great manner.

Cons:

The gentleman that worked with me when I dropped the car was rude and borderline xenophobic. His attitude was not professional. I wouldn’t rent a car from that office again.

We selected a Hyundai Elantra online but were given a different vehicle with only 1/2 tank of gas. The employees didn’t even ask if a substitute vehicle was okay. Was also charged an absurd 20% tax, which is more than 4x the tax rate of our home state VA and which is 2x the tax rate of the state we rented from, NY. Nobody told us about that tax rate and it came as a total surprise. Probably won’t rent from Hertz again.

There was no Dollar store within 50 miles of the pickup location. I called customer support, and the only thing they offered to do was cancel my reservation. I was left stranded in a parking lot on a Friday evening of a holiday weekend.

There is no Follar at that location. I got there and it is only Hertz. The reservation did not transfer through. The only reason I got a car was the kindness of the Herrz employee. Kayak is booking for a business that doesn’t exist and almost got me and my daughter stranded without a car. The insurance never applied because it wasn’t through Dollar.
