Los Angeles hostels

Pros: The location is fantastic, just one block up from Hollywood Blvd, right next to the Magic Castle. From here we were able to walk to our concert and enjoy the scenery too and from.

Pros: My friend and I got a twin room with double beds each and a private bathroom upstairs on the top floor. Really liked how spacious the room was and it was very clean. Lots of natural light. The location was great and super close to Hollywood walk of fame and the TCL Chinese Theatre.

Cons: The bathroom sink had a weird smell which was not terrible but not nice either. The shower is very very tight/small. Also the wifi on the top level was terrible.

Pros: The best place EVER! I will recommend to all of my friends.

Cons: Probably the only thing that could be improved would be breakfast, adding something that is not sweer and carbs (eggs or some ham).

Pros: We loved the ambiance of the old mansion with huge lawn and trees, a pocket of historical residential history smack in the middle of busy mainstream Hollywood. So many famous places within walking distance (plus proximity to metro). The staff were super accommodating, held our luggage, switched our room to one that better met our needs, and were fun and friendly.

Cons: Kitchen was too small and could have had better options for sanitizing dishes (it's in the basement and very small, no dishwasher or special sanitation facilities for the guest do-it-yourself dishwashing.

Pros: I like it’s clean and nestled somewhere that looks not in Hollywood. Love the location. The hostel has potential especially of its history.

Cons: I didn’t like one of the staff but the rests are lovely especially the cleaning lady. The reception at night might be efficient but she sounded like old grumpy headmaster in a boarding school. She sounded very military. She treats guests with her condescending loud voice as if she’s giving drills. She shouldn’t be the front of a beautiful hostel. I know I can’t change how she is but definitely you can put her in the office to do office jobs. The hostel so cozy. I would come back because of the facility. The price higher by few bucks compared to the one along the Boulevard. There’s no free tour. The basement rooms are noisy not because of guests but the kitchen being cleaned.

Pros: the bed and room is comfort and clean. The shared bathroom is clean and the hot water is running smoothly. Their staff is super helpfull even let me check in early without any extra charges since the room is available.

Cons: hope they can imoroved their breakfast and hope they can provide a shower gel and shampoo in d toilet.

Pros: Location

Cons: Air con did not work and front desk could not fix. Room had no fly screen on windows. There was no hot water on any of the 3 days.

Pros: It's one of the best hostels in Los Angeles. It's near Santa Monica beach and promenade. Many places to eat out and do shopping. This place has different Free activities. Comedy night and hiking.

Cons: The breakfast could have been better.

Pros: I really don’t know how to start this review, because there’s really nothing I liked. The hostel is advised as modern and clean, but it’s actually not. We arrived around 10:00 pm, and the hostel’s door was locked. We ring the bell and waited around 5 minutes. Finally someone opened the door, and we went to do the check in. The lady was really sleepy, obviously overworked and had a terrible attitude. She told us we have to pay extra since we’re not members with them. I thought booking gives you the final price, but apparently not. I didn’t wanna fight with the lady, it’s not her fault.

Cons: Very industrial design. Not very clean. Breakfast was really poor - toast, banana, oatmeal and coffee. Too expensive for what you’re getting. Staff was rude. There’s no free parking around. Very dirty streets, full of homeless people.

Pros: Helpful staff, good breakfast, nice social areas, beach towels available for use, separate bath mats for showers, possibility of getting a free metro card left behind by others, great location

Cons: Window wouldn't close in the room and not fixed after reporting it, random timing of air con/heating, noisy bed when turning, lack of clean cutlery at times

Pros: Great location and very clean! Staff were super helpful and laid back.

Cons: Beds are not the most comfortable.

Pros: It was cleanly and also an excellent location. Staff was very friendly and particularly helpful about meeting the needs of the clientele. I'd easily stay here again and also recommend it to family and friends.

Cons: It closed in the middle of quarantine and quite a few people had to find alternative places to stay. I understand they didn't have much of a choice but there were many hostels that remained opened. It would have been nice even if they didn't take in any new visitors for to let the people who were already there renew for long-term...But they were friendly and kind anyhow.

Pros: I never stayed there.

Cons: I tried to cancel since I learned that parking was additional across the street for $17 - no street parking if you have a car. A hostel shouldn't cost this much. I was better off just paying $60 at a cheap hotel/motel and have a room to myself! I wish I could get that money back. :(

Pros: Great Location and staff and fellow travelers

Pros: The cleanliness. The staff. Location was good, right by the beach. The bars around the area were great as well.

Cons: There could be more daytime activities. What I also didn't like ws that there were not enough bathrooms. There should be at least one public bathroom in the hostel.

Pros: Location is great if you love Venice beach. I do. The first time in this hostel we had a private room with no window, no air and no bathroom (shared). This time we were lucky to book a nice private room with private bathroom and ocean view - it was way much cooler.

Cons: When we checked-in, there was a nice big piece of feces swimming in our toilet. Guys, seriously? How can we even talk about cleanliness after that?

Pros: Amazing locations, good restaurants nearby and very nice staff.

Cons: Very highly priced for a night in a four bed dorm.

Pros: The location is great, staff was helpful, rest of the travellers mostly fine.

Pros: Location was good for what i needed, breakfast was really good, staff were really good, check in was easy enough, i would recommend, i had to check out very early for a flight, and the girl working the evening shift went out of her way to provide me with a few things for breakfast, she let me make some stuff to eat before i left at 5am, that was really helpful :-)

Pros: The people at the lodge were really amazing. They were friendly and could answer a lot of questions. Dom is the events coordinator there at the hostel and he used to take everyone out for nightly events which allowed poeple to interact with each other. There were people from many different countries and it was interesting to share their perspective on things. The beachside views was fantastic. The music around reminds you of san Francisco in the 60's. They also have free breakfast in the morning, a separate room if you want to store huge luggage and a common room where people from different rooms can talk to each other during the day. At $35 per night, i think that its a good deal compared to the expensive hotels in LA

Cons: The spring beds were really not that comfortable. I didn't get much sleep. Also there is just 1 shared bathroom for 8 rooms which could get cramped up somtimes. Add to that, those bathrooms get clogged often. I also had to struggle in getting the door open as the key would not fit in completely. The vending machine is out of order.

Cons: Everything. Dirty , smelly and everything highly suspicious. They even wanted 15% extra for a credit card. Someone should let the IRS know as they clearly only want cash !

Pros: The staff most and kind hearted persons.....and good environment.

Pros: I was expecting more of a hotel like regime at check in etc but the room was spacious enough; surprisingly quiet and the storage facility was helpful. Day stuff good. I did have to follow up re the deposit refund.

Cons: My fault. it is called a hostel and looks like a hostel.

Cons: The building is pretty old and not in good shape, our room's floor was pendant. The area is really noisy and full of homeless, especially at night. Not safe to walk alone. Room had a very small bed for 2 people, the power outlets were really old, some of them were not working, other makes sparks when I put the plug in it. There's no elevator so get ready to walk a lot of stairs with your luggage. Common areas don't look clean, the kitchen is very dirty. I found a cockroach under the plate I took from the pile, it was disgusting. You have to make your own breakfast with the few ingredients provided (bread, eggs, coffee, butter, jam and waffle mix) and wash your own dishes. When you do the check-in they took photos of you and tells you that from 4am (or 3, I don't remember) to 8am there's nobody at the reception that can open you the door, so if your are planning to party all night you may not able to go back into your room, or if you are a morning person who wants to leave early for a walk, you have to wait until 8am to go back in. The price was way too expensive for the service offered, I had no idea to expect all of these because you don't see it in the pictures. If I knew it before I would never booked this hostel.

Pros: Breakfast was served every morning on time. Staff very understanding and friendly. However due to Covid20 they had to shut the location down.

Cons: Only thing I feel could use a bit of upgrading is the showers. There should be a place to put your clothes, maybe a shelf or something. Overall satisfied though.

Pros: The common areas were big and well maintained. The hostel was clean, the bed was comfy, WiFi worked well and the staff were friendly. The location is also very good. The closest bus stops were only a few steps away.

Cons: The dorm room was a bit cramped. With a pair of beds less it would be much better.

Pros: Nice facility. Clean. Location is good. Right on bus lines.

Cons: Everything was fine except the stinky idiot in our dorm who LOUDLY snored like an injured pig. Terrible. Anyone who snores like this is definitely aware of it and surely has been told about it. Knowing this, it's just rude and selfish to book a dorm where others won't be able to sleep well because of you.

Pros: They disinfected the rooms every few days due to corona. Beds were clean. The people staying at the place were all super chill, very nice people.

Cons: The owner is crazy, probably one of the most annoying persons in the world. She was nice in the beginning but started to drive crazy due to corona and became super rude. In the end I was glad to leave. The guy (black hair) is nice but he definitely has the potential to work at better places.
